Day 3 - Stallone guts some more questions and lets the answers spill out!!!
Hey folks, Harry here with another edition of Ask Rambo. See if Stallone is in the new Terminator movie. What happened to that car in COBRA? Was Stallone going to be DR WHO? These insane questions and more have answers waiting for you. Enjoy...
1. I read that after watching Highlander you
hand picked Russell Mulcahy to direct RAMBO III, then
fired him due to artistic differences. I seem to
remember an interview with him saying you wanted to
many close ups! Any comments? P.S. I've been a
massive fan since discovering the Rocky movies in the
early eighties. Keep up the good work.
From Kev in London.
1.) Yes, Russell Mulcahy, I thought did a brilliant job on several music videos and eventually “Highlander”. I remember calling him from an editing room and telling him what a wonderful job he had done. He answered back in a bored fashion “Why thank you darling.” So I hired him. He went to Israel two weeks before me with the task of casting two dozen vicious looking Russian troops. These men were suppose to make your blood run cold. When I arrived on the set, what I saw was two dozen blond, blue-eyed pretty boys that resembled rejects from a surfing contest. Needless to say Rambo is not afraid of a little competition but being attacked by third rate male models could be an enemy that could overwhelm him. I explained my disappointment to Russell and he totally disagreed, so I asked him and his chiffon army to move on.
2. What was your work-out routine to prepare for the movie?
Scott Ross
2.) Lifting heavy objects. First I tried to lift my ego and got a hernia so I decided to go back to weights and it was a fairly simple routine to accentuate the more obvious working muscles of the body such as back, shoulders and forearms rather than biceps, triceps, and abs.
3. Mr Stallone,
For years, I thought you were part of "Sly and the Family Stone" simply because of the syllabic similarities.
That's not my question.
There was a rumour going around in the late 90s that noted "director" Paul WS Anderson was going to revive the then-comatose British science fiction show "Doctor Who" as a big budget movie. Back then, nobody knew who WS was, so most of the fans' ire was directed at his rumoured choice for the Doctor: yourself. (This ire was not out of any sort of personal dislike, but more that it was the most bizarrely left-field casting ever. Like if you were write a fifth Rambo film, only you decided to cast Dame Judie Dench or or the skeletal remains of Charlie Chaplin in the title role.)
I've labored for years under the assumption that my favourite TV show ever almost went down this ill-advised path, only now that I'm actually typing it out, it seems quite ridiculous. Either way, I've been wanting to know for years and years and years, and now I can finally ask: did this almost happen? If so, how far along the process did you get?
Many thanks, and all the best with the new film. I'm looking forward to it.
Latauro
3.) Sorry we had to waste a question on this because I never heard of Doctor Who except in a sort of Dr. Seuss application.
4. What do you make of the post-modern, 'intellectual' action films out today? Do you feel they have more of a social relevance than 80s cinema, or do you think they try harder today for that than 80s films did? (By 80s films, I mean how the films seem strongly inspired by the times, rather than venturing into trying to answer social questions... for instance, Cobra was a disturbing film which seemed - in parts - to be seeped in the vague sleeze prevalent during the era in question.)
Ian Austin
4.) In reference to post modern “intellectual” action films…I am not bonding or computing the intellectual reference to modern day action films. Throughout cinematic history I believe the goal of well made action films was to illicit an emotional response, a visceral tightening of the stomach, not an intellectual response simply because the momentum of a film of this nature is to build to a crescendo rather than a point of intellectual debate while the film is going on. So, after the smoke has cleared I think it’s wonderful to break down the layers of these “action” films because when they’re well done they’re quite memorable and part of our modern day mythology. Unfortunately CGI has elevated the action film to a visual banquet full of hollow calories.
5. How many different incarnations of the fourth Rambo film were there in the film's last 10 years of development? Can you tell us what was fact and what was fiction? Over the years, there were talks of Rambo joining up with his son in Afghanastan, establishing a storyline after the 3rd film. In other internet speculation, it was rumored Rambo would fight again in the small town of 'Hope' against the son of the sadistic sherrif he killed in first blood. When the film was originally titled 'eye of the cobra', was that the same storyline as this film? Is it true that when you were quoted in one magazine report that you needed to set the film somewhere where the worlds most 'terrible things are happening', so you called SOLDIER OF FORTUNE magazine and they directed you to the state of atrocities in Burma? What would of happened if they told you that you needed to go back to Afghanastan for example - would you have followed Rambo's expanding story back in the middle east? By setting this film back in south east asia, does that mean we as the audience have to understand that rambo had to 'go home' and thereby left the Middle east as a reaction to his own torment?
Thanks, from a huge fan in sydney, Australia.
P.S don't worry what the press might say here - we Aussies still love you mate!
Dan
5.) First of all, it was called, “Eye of the Serpent”, or, “Pearl of the Cobra.” In old king cobras' heads sometimes resides a calcium growth that when removed and buffed resembles an amber pearl. This pearl is called The Sri Naga Mani. Rambo wore this pearl around his neck because of the mystical powers that it possessed. Anyway, I dispensed with that aspect of the film but the story remained pretty much the same. And yes, I did call Soldier of Fortune magazine, which truly has it’s ear to the ground when it comes to clandestine terrorist activities around the world.
6. Mr Stallone,
I recently saw a BOXING match between Dolph Lundgren and former UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov on youtube, in which Dolph lost by descision. Oleg is primarily a Judo and Sambo specialist, and is not known for his hands, and yet he won the match. i bring this up because Floyde Mayweather JR recently announced his intentions to make a transition into MMA fighting. he would have to gain at least 10 Lbs to be in the UFC lightweight division, and while he does have great handspeed... i dont see him having the knockout power to make a seasoned grappler even think twice about taking him to the ground. in boxing, whenever you clinch, the ref will separate the fighters. in MMA Floyde would eat knees and elbows in that position surely he doesnt think he can defend a takedown, or fight off a submission attempt? and i would bet he's never taken a muay thia kick to the legs. my point is... i dont doubt his hands or his heart or his conditioning, i doubt his "overall" game to be competitive. i mean, if Dolph can be "outboxed" by a guy who isnt even a boxer.... what does that say? what do you think of this move by Mayweather, and what do you think of the UFC (MMA) in general?
I cant wait to see Rambo kill the Cloverfield Monster....at the box office i mean...... that is, if they are not one and the same destructive force. I am really looking forward to the all day Rambo Marathon on opening night! you have my $9.50 sir!
Gavin
6.) I think Mayweather is just exaggerating because it creates an interesting point of view for debate among fighting purists. Let me state, unequivocally, that Dolph Lundgren probably wasn’t taking this seriously because I’ve seen him toss Carl Weathers into a corner with one hand then virtually terrify the man until he fled the ring claiming, “If you touch me, I’ll call my agent” or something to that affect. During Rocky IV, Dolph had hit me so hard I had swelling around the heart and had to stay in intensive care at St. John’s Hospital for four days. Mayweather would not hold up to the pounding that he would receive and therefore the fight would be a waste of everyone’s time. Actually, if it went on a bit too long it would turn into a CSI crime scene.
7. Having worked in a variety of different roles in Hollywood over the years, actor, writer, producer and director, what's your take on the current WGA strike, and how do you think it's going to end?
Jay
7.) I really can’t answer that because it would be bad form to try to second guess my fellow union brothers. All I know is artistic revolution is good for the soul.
8. Dear Sylvester,
I am István Regös from Budapest, Hungary. Rocky and Rambo both mean a lot to me, and your characters helped a lot to me to shape my body and my soul, so thank you for that and more. You are truly a great artist.
If you could go back in time, and redo any of your movies, or any scenes of any of your films, which would you redo?
Thank you very much for answering. It's really good to have you still in my life as a movie icon, with a signed picture of yours hanging on my wall, which Andy Wajna was so kind to give me years ago.
I wish you all the best of life, like you wrote on the picture.
István Regös
8.) I would’ve played Oscar incredibly cynical like the original French version and I would’ve gone back to my original premise of Rambo III, which was more in keeping with the theme of “Tears of the Sun”, but set in Afghanistan.
9. Hello once again Sly, THANKS for answering the fans questions! Hope all is well in business and family. Thanks for giving action fans hope by still being in the game. With RAMBO, you are back on Hollywoods A-List. Ok, here are my questions:
Have you been approached to star in TERMINATOR SALVATION and if yes how likely is that going to happen?
ABking,
BOSTON, MA
9.) No, that has never happened and I believe that’s sacred ground for Arnold and would be an insult to encroach on his territory.
10. Do you still have the Mercury from Cobra? Was it yours before the film and they wrote it in or did you keep it from the production? Do you have any other interesting cars that may or may not have appeared in your films?
Thank you for this opportunity, good luck with Rambo Mr Stallone I for one will be in line when it hits England on February 22nd. Also if you are ever in the north east of England let me know I'd like to buy you a pint.
Richard Scott (30)
10.) The Mercury was made for the film and was a hellacious piece of equipment with real nitrous oxide canisters that turned the car into a temporary dragster. You won’t believe this but someone stole the car out of storage four years ago. So keep your eyes out.

-
When Rocky was coming out I was still a grad student with a "chill job" and everyone was going nuts for it in anticipation. There was no way that movie was going to flop...0% chance.
Now I am graduated and working next to the White House with a bunch of poker faced suits...I am basically outside of society at work. But when I mention it (Rambo) to friends they are cheering like crazy, so at least us 20-some yr old kids will be there in force. -

Mr. Stallone, when "Rambo" TANKS, what are you going to do?
by proman1984
Also, do you honestly think that the asslicking you get on these here forums is representative of what the public in large thinks about your upcoming movie?
P.S. Did it HAVE to be so racist? And did the woman have to be Blond?
Your fan. -
Can I be a thug in Death Wish? :)
-
12:35am...well its technically tommorow..but you get the point..
-
How fantastic is it to have an icon like this answer any question that we ask in such an hinest and candid manner? Stalone truly is one of the few Hollywood greats. What a classy guy.
-
like that bitch Walter B.
-
But this was a seriously weak batch of questions.
-
Does anyone have or has anyone seen any reviews on the yet? Has anyone here had the pleasure of a screening yet?
-
I saw the full theatrical trailer in front of Cloverfield...people were belly laughing, ti looked so horrendous. some of the lines, whew! I think this one is going to get seriously panned. I love Sly, but man it looks like a stinker.not kidding, the entire theater was laughing at it.
-
This movie will not be shown to critics until it opens like most z rate horror movies. Why, did you expect the second coming of "Saturday Night Fever"?
-
I think web site can certainly help to gauge interest in the product. During the Rocky Q&A, I (as GibsonUSA Returns) and others discussed the public's perception of that upcomingfilm. I think a lot of us do represent the "common moviegoer".
Word of mouth is important....in promotion there's the saying "Happy customers tell 2 people, unhappy customers tell 10."
Sly's relationship with Aintitcool helps generate good relations with his fans and public.
How is the movie racist? I cant tell you where I work but it has to do with international relations. This crap IS happening in Burma/region at the moment. Though Rambo makes it into an action movie, its a real, true-blue issue. -
http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/movies/2008/01/critics-screenings-set-for-ram.html
stallowned you worthless trolls... -
Lionsgate is only offering the picture to coastal critics. Not a majority of the REAL critics around the US.
-
Comedy gold from start to finish !
-
GibsonUSA, I don't care where you work just like you don't care where I worked and lived. The fact is, this movie does not deal with a real issue, it exploits it. There's a subtle but very real difference.
As for the customer base, I don't think this site is represntative as you may think. And, certainly to the same extent as "Rocky 6".
Contraul, the misely two so-called screenings are being made too late. The first reviews will not appear in time. In fact they were the ones who sated there would not be any advance screenings in the first place. It shows that they understand the movie will get panned all over. And by the way, you are one who's slybitched since he seems to own your ass. -
Best car chase in film ever.
So under rated. A top touring car driver in Australia recently said so to in a Q and A over best car chase in films.
Wicked car! -
Jan 21, 2008 7:45:18 PM CST
Well, Proman, please explain to us how the movie is racist.
by iamjack'suserid
We all eagerly await what will surely be a thesis-level explanation.
-
I'm not a critic, so I don't care.
Rambo III has like a 30% on rottentomatoes. This movie is like Saw IV, its pretty much critic-proof either way. Whoever's gonna watch it is gonna watch it.
Proman, by "exploit", you mean it takes a real life issue and makes a big motion picture out of it? Gasp! In that case you probably have a problem with like 100 movies last year, dont you? -
Tried to lift his ego but got a hernia... XD
I hope someone asked him to tell a crazy Hollywood story that he hasn't told us yet. I'm waiting to hear some more wacky behind the scene stuff. -
this Q&A reveals a whole new stallone. a superstar that is truly "a regular guy"(and smart). i will watch his movies in an entirely new light after these interviews.
-
In Rambo 1 he fights this white cop and his team of white cops in the Northeast. In Rambo 2 he goes back to save POWs from Vietnam. In Rambo 3 he's in the middle east. Here, he's outside Burma.
In the last Rambo Talkback I had suggested that Rambo 5 address the issue exploitation of children and women. I had suggested Cambodia/region where it has been a serious issue. Does that make me racist? I want awareness of it. -
You know what that means, don't you? It means that ABKing will be fucking his Stallone blow-up doll extra hard in the ass tonight. Extra hard.
-
stick a cork in the hole in yr head man. all the air is rushing out.
-
I don't know who is picking the questions to ask Sly but someone needs to get their head out of their ass! My God, even Sly commented that one of the questions was a waste. Out of the thousands of e-mails you couldn't pick a better "10" for day 3. Come on guys!
-
What about TNA Wrestling?
Sly should consider doing a match! -
want to hear more about slys ideas with them....
-
shut up....
-
Didn't care for it, thought it seemed like a half-movie the same way Rocky Balboa did. With that said, I hope it's a big hit. Love Stallone.
-
Because audiences will think it sucks too.
And by the way, I'm not saying Sly can't make a movie critics would like. He did it with Rocky 6. This is different -
I agree, the questions are really boring this year. You could have picked better ones.
-
Rambos gonna tank?? you know audiences will think it sucks?? cmon LOL
I can tell you why this wont tank
1.alot of promo
2.good buzz from screenings
3.its fucking Rambo -
Yeah, I can totally imagine stallone sitting down to a Dr. Who marathon. Maybe he buys 100 tacos beforehand. And he already answered a question about working out to prepare for the movie. Are these questions randomly chosen from the e-mails by lottery?
-
thanks in advance.

~ Credit crunch impacts AICN as there's no confidence here~
by omega_786
What was the point in these questions? What a total waste. Sly give us some of your time on these talkbacks dude.
-
QUESTION 1: A trailer of Rocky Balboa had you training in a 'cut me mick' t-shirt. Will this scene be included in a special edition DVD of Rocky Balboa?
QUESTION 2: I always saw Cobra as a version of Snake Plisken and always wondered what John Carpenter or Stepehn Hopkins (of Predator 2 and 24 fame) could have done with a Cobra sequel. If there was anything wrong with Cobra it was the fact that he wasn't really mean enough and the action was pretty much on the minimal side which was surprising since Cosmatos directed it. Any real chance of a revisit?
QUESTION 3: Sometimes i get pretty much fed up with the usual crap Hollywood throws out. So it's good when you get some good team up combos such as Tango & Cash. Do you have anything in development so we can see some bizaarre combos such as you and Pierce Brosnan or even you and Vin Diesel! -
Rocky cost $25 million and exploded to $70-some in the box office right? (Then kicked ass on DVD) It's a bonafide hit.
Rambo cost, what, $60 million? The Rambo franchise is not the Academy-award winning entity that Rocky is...its a different creature. I don't think it needs to break Rocky Balboa's box office to be labeled a hit. (Though I hope it does) -
Sly, did Dolph bring you flowers after he broke your heart that bad (literally)?
-
What's with all the caustic humour. Just give a straight truthful answer especially to the Cobra questions and stop being flippant. I hated your response to the question about what you were lifting during training during RAMBO. Shows a lack of respect to that fan who probably wanted some KG info and training methodology. It seems you have lost your earlier sincerity post Rocky Balboa...a shame really.
-
I had a dream last night...Shaq was beating the shit out of Tom Cruise...he was swinging him by the feet like a ragdoll. Like a cartoon. Beating the snot out of him.
I dont have anything against Tom Cruise... -
Sly is probably writing quick answers on a piece of paper while pooping in the morning, lol.
-
To clarify: I don't think Rambo will make back its money. I'd be suprised if it breaks $20-25 domestically.
-
LOL. Yeah, his secretary is sitting on the hotel bed typing on the laptop while he shouts answers from the bathroom, right?
-
Now this one is a movie to watch. Imagine Stallone fighting Sabre Tooth Tigers with maximum firepower!

Mr. Stallone, please interview with MGU! They support your film very much! Refer to request submitted through your webmaster to your assistant. -
So you're saying that it will only hit about $20 million domestic TOTAL? For Rambo?? $20 million?...thats less gross than movies like Hitman and the Nanny Diaries! Even Sweeny Tod, far more niche than Rambo, will surpass $50 mil.
A $20 mil gross indicates an opening weekend of only about $6 million. You're gonna say a RAMBO movie opens at $6 million?...with the competition being Untraceable and Meet the Spartans??
I think you underestimate Rambo... -

sly what do you think of roger clemens using steroids?
by duchuvney_post_x
thanks in advance.
-
This baby will fall at least 70% by the 2nd weekend and I don't think the first weekened will be all that. People don't give a fuck about Rambo. In fact, Indy 4 will make more money in it's opening day than Rambo will make in it's entire fucking domestic run!
-
So you're saying Rambo doesnt even have the strength of lame-videogame movie Hitman?? We'll all find out within a week when Rambo opens...
Sly has done three Q&A's each with varying levels of quality. We don't know under what conditions he is answering these. He could have a super busy schedule he is rushing through while he does these. Appreciate that he is here. He didnt need to be. -
Dr. Seuss > Stallone too.
And yes, Gibson, I think Rambo will make less than Hitman -
I knew I liked Sly!
-
...as a promotional tool for Rambo.
With video blogs documenting your publicity tour and activities leading up to release, where you would talk essentially directly to the people. It could have been huge. -
...is that as a kid it had an eerie, funkadelic opening as you were taken through a time portal which looked like an eye-socket. But as soon as the opening was done, they cut to a sound stage where a British dude with bad teeth was attacked by mops, comforters, and pieces of styrofoam and bubble wrap.
-
hes on a promo-schedule right now...he didnt have to do these q+a sessions...
although Harry Better pick Better questions!! -
He showed it to me a few times, but I was just bored by it. I showed him Star Trek and the rest was history.
-
Man that guy is soo out of touch with reality. Then again he wasn't even born when First Blood was made. Please come back to this thread again on sunday Proman1984, so we can all ridicule your ignorant little ass!
-
The recent crop of "Political War" movies have tanked, BUT the nation might actually be ready for a war film packed with mindless, unforgiving, non-pc slaughter. Call Of Duty 4 is a best selling game title (massive sales) and it's been a while since a gory war/revenge flick has come out. We will find out this weekend. The film will make a profit, there's no question about it. 60 million is considered low budget for an action film these days. I just watched "Itallian Stallion" this weekend (aka "Weekend At Kitty & Studs")...Not bad. Love Stallone's dance moves while he smokes a joint right before the orgy. Love the oil painting at the apartment as well....A Demon with a noose/woman hanging from the head of his penis. Being an art collector, I wonder if Stallone has that painting now?
-
I won't make any box office predictions, all I know is it will get my money this weekend. Sly gives good answers to good questions, loved the one about why he fired the director, but a lot of the questions have been lame. Who cares what his work out schedule is, people can go to Muscle and Fitness for that stuff. I think that Harry is the one that doesn't seem to care about this anymore, he needs to pay attention to the questions he's picking. And yeah, when I was a kid in the 70s and early 80s, I would watch just about anything, but I drew the line at Dr. Who.
-
screening. My head will be reeling from all that shakey cam.
-
As time progresses we see this with the big action movies...Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood. I think we might see a hint of this for his Death Wish movie. He had said the new character would be rougher, meaner....but nevertheless he's no Rambo...he's an architect. there's no doubt Sly is, and can look, intelligent (Tango & Cash)....and I look forward to seeing an older, wiser, scholarly Stallone on screens over the next decade.

Umm...HEADGEEK, WTF Questions Are You Submitting?!?
by thisisthecaptainspeaking
This is a bit hypocritical, because I haven't submitted any questions myself, but isn't this a rare opportunity to get Sly to reveal himself, personally and professionally, to us??? You said yourself we have 5 days, 10 questions a day, to get what we can this round. 50 questions, and look at today's input. I understand the UFC question, but Dr Who, his daily workout, Terminator Salvation, and the strike??? I know the strike is hot, but did you really expect him to answer candidly?!? Please submit some better (and more revealing/historical/filmophile) questions from here on out. Again, I'm a POS for not having submitted any questions myself, but if that's the issue let me know and I will flood your e-mail.
-
Should be cool. Will try to do a quick review. I just watched Rambo: First Blood Part 2, and it was cool with a little extra cheese... but not bad - just totally 80's. I remember it being a little better. That's the film memmory for ya.
I'll be re-watching Rambo 3 tomorrow, but I have to say - the songs over the closing credits of First Blood, and the sequel are possibly the two worst movie songs of all time. They are both highly laughable now.
Looking forward to some good old fashioned ass kicking tomorrow. -
yeah, really. who the hell are sending some of these questions in?

but man these questiones are horrible, know one gives a shit about Dr. Who. I mean sure, slys answer made me laugh, but i mean the last 2 batches of questiones were a lot better. Anywayz iam hoping the movie does well at the box office, i showed my friends the gory trailer and they freakin loved it, theres good word of mouth going around.
-
sorry about the bad english...
-
"Rambo is a pussy." Tango and Cash II is what the people crave.
-
I would just like to point out that I recently did a triple-header review including a Dolph Lundgren movie and a movie featuring that Oleg guy where I singled him out as a good character. I'd never heard of Oleg before and I had no idea he had recently boxed Dolph, or that a guy would mention it to Sylvester Stallone. It's a world of laughter, a world of tears.
-
Rambo is grossing more than Gone Baby Gone. 20 million will be opening weekend, not the entire domestic run. I'm predicting a final N.A. tally of 50-55 million.
-
After the dissapointmenting Cloverfield (10 minutes of monster action..W.T.F) I really need something that's gonna DELIVER! Bring. Rambo. On. I wanna see the BLOOD FLOW!
-
I pity the fool who needs a review from a total stranger who's got his job by accident (when not by default) to make up his mind about a movie - especially a critic-proof movie like this.
Reviewers panned movies like the '83 Scarface, Aliens, Terminator 2, Fight Club, Poltergeist, Manhunter, and other "ugly ducklings". It happens all the time. I'm not saying Rambo will be on par with those, just that reviews are terribly overrated pieces of "journalism". Infotainment at best. -
not the Holy Trinity who runs this site^^
-
In question 2, Sly jokes about lifting his ego......heck, I could bench press his ego a 1000 times because he doesn't have one.....otherwise, he wouldn't take the time to answer questions or talk to the fans.
Sly is a massive star but he doesn't act like one. He seems as genuine and down to Earth as he can be.
A lot of Hollywood stars act like they're God's gift to the world.
Sly acts like a guy who realizes he was lucky enough that someone believed in him and gave him a chance to prove his talent, and wants to pay back the fans who have supported him over the years. Underneath the spotlight, there stands a really nice guy! -
As the writer of that question, I just have to do a wide eyed, smiley, expression of joy. Always fun seeing my vaguely pretensious questions get answered. Good job guys.
-
I don't know who said Rambo was budgeted at 60 mil, but you're crazy. It's 90 minutes long, there's only one big special effect (though to be fair, there are a lot of blood and weapon enhancements), and it was shot on the cheap in Thailand with no name actors. I bet the budget was 25 or 30 depending on what Stallone got. The movie will be profitable, but it's another strange entry after the half-film that was Rocky Balboa. Stallone can clearly write a movie, so why he's doing these stripped down, obvious movies with no subplots and no character arcs is beyond me. While the gore is plentiful, there is no message and the crisis in Burma is never explained.
-
Hi folks! Could you please put links to the Day 1 and 2 Q&A's in part 3? That'd be great. I didn't read Day 2 yet and the search feature kinda sucks. (Or I'm to stupid to use it properly).

Google is your friend. Use it wisely, but remember with gerat power comes great responsibility. And Aside from questions 1 & 4 the rest of them were pretty weak. Latuaro should be hanging his head in shame at that smug, lame Dr. Who question.

someone should send Harry what about Crenna´s daughter trying to edit him out of the movie -
To be fair to Harry due to the volume of questions submitted it must be pretty tough to single out 10 amazing ones. I can't honestly say the ones I submitted were very good so I can't really moan about the ones I thought were lame!
-
And give him real questions! Harry you should be ashamed of yourself for sending that pile of shit! Thousands of questions and you acnt find 10. And whats with ABking getting a second shot! Who is he anyway, surely just a regular fan! Stallone will jump ship with these shit questions he even states "Shame we had to waste a question"
-
Exactly what was smug and lame about it? There's been a rumour going around for years that Stallone was attached to WS's movie version of Doctor Who. Searches indicated nobody had ever asked Stallone about this, so I thought it was time. It was a genuine question that a few people have been wanting to know about for a while. I'm so sorry that the subject wasn't something you were interested in.
-
DOLPH HAS THA POWUUUUURGH!
-
It was smug and lame because: 1) "For years, I thought you were part of "Sly and the Family Stone" simply because of the syllabic similarities." Wow funny. I half expected to hear a sting from the band after that appalingly smug, unoriginal pun. Also I wouldn't answer a question if it opened with that- and I'm not surprised Sly didn't2) "There was a rumour going around in the late 90s that noted "director" Paul WS Anderson was going to revive the then-comatose British science fiction show "Doctor Who" as a big budget movie. Back then, nobody knew who WS was, so most of the fans' ire was directed at his rumoured choice for the Doctor: yourself. (This ire was not out of any sort of personal dislike, but more that it was the most bizarrely left-field casting ever. Like if you were write a fifth Rambo film, only you decided to cast Dame Judie Dench or or the skeletal remains of Charlie Chaplin in the title role.)" That whole paragraph is smug because it is designed for no other purpose than to show your staggering wit, and brilliant insider knowledge. It is lame because you are asking Sly to confirm/ deny a stale, baseless internet rumour from 10 years ago. 3)If you look, your insightful question is the lengthiest, most long winded question up there. And what does it ask? nothing of substance. It isn't the only offender though, if that makes you feel better. And I am aware of the irony of a post as smug and lame as this one criticising a question for being smug and lame.
-
Hulk 2 will bomb; Knight Rider TV series will fail....You guys are a hopeful happy bunch of fuckers aren't you. I have no idea if Rambo will be good or not. I like the sound of it. I will see it. Because hahaha thats why people make movies. So interested folks will see it. Hahaha craaaazy man, crazy. You guys make me laugh. Do you do anything with your lives? Or do you make judgements before you've even tried it. Burgers? Nah - makes you fat. Beach? Nah, sun gives you cancer. Sex? Nah, could get aids man. Losers.
-
I remember the Mad Magazine parody of First Blood Part 2. It cracked me up when Rambo's woman dies, she gives him her charm "for good luck". Rambo replied "Why? It aint brought you none." HILARIOUS.
-
If it wasn't for Walker Texas Ranger clips on Conan he would have so far offered me zero entertainment. Dolph was the Punisher and Ivan Drago.
-
Norris was in some classic movies: An eye for an eye, octagon...I grew up on that shit.It seems like Sly is just waiting for the good questions to unleash his good stories. C'mon Harry, there's gotta be some better questions.
-
Rocky 4, Dark Angel, Big Trouble in Little Tokyo, The Punisher (erm), and wasn't he radioactive man?
-
And Dark Angel, was that I come in Peace...dudes from space? He was also in Universal Soldier...should have killed Van Damme. And my point wasn't that Norris was greater than Dolph, but that Norris did some good stuff before Texas Ranger crap. Missing in Action...Delta Force...
-
Say it ain't so!
Actually, you shouldn't let your ire out on Sly as he is only working with the questions presented to him.
As for you, AICN, that really, REALLY was a stinky batch of questions. Talkbackers have been longing for Sly to come back for over a year. There is no way in hell those were the only questions you had to choose from.
For shame!
And Latauro, that REALLY was an awful question. Doctor Who, WTF? -
...is the shit!
"I come in peeeaaace..."
"Yeah, but you'll go... IN PIECES!"
Fantastic crap movie. -
Fuck. and he was in that weird John Woo one about a guy who can't deal with white things.
-
has one of the most outrageously stupid premises ever put to film. It's a great "bad" movie.
-
Jan 22, 2008 6:50:17 AM CST
Norris was in some passable flicks but his suckage
by nomoredirtyjokespleaseweareyanks
was extreme. Worse than Van Damme and Seagal put together in terms of emotional range and his crap movies far outnumber all the other 80's C-listers. Still......I've watched most of them, which I guess makes my opinion valid.
-
it was AWESOME. Sorry.(but it was and is AWESOME).
-

man, I wish their was a shitty grammar checker
by nomoredirtyjokespleaseweareyanks
I suck.
-
Hasn't his buddy Stallone shown him the film yet? Or is this site more about the marketing and promotion of films?
-
which makes them classic in the bad sense. I do have to point out that Mako was in An eye for an eye, which automatically makes it a 'good' bad movie.
-
hahaha!Make a movie about that!!!
-
fuck off. I answered his question as to why his Dr. Who question was smug and lame. That is all, and I'm not saying you should walk on eggshells, I'm saying we only have 50 questions to put. That isn't a huge number and to waste one on a fucking bullshit internet rumour from 10 years ago, designed to show off the questioner's brilliant wit is smug, lame and a fucking waste. Got it?
-
Have a look at Question 3, then Question 4. Can you see the difference? one is a bullshit, grandstanding bunch of arse, and the other one asks a question.
-
And then Cobra hunts him down and puts him in jail!
-
Norris to me is anti-entertainment. He's like the Uwe Boll of action stars.Give me Mark Dacascos anyday(is that how you spell it? I'm a little drunk.)
-
On the banners it's saying RAMBO startes tomorrow. Tomorrow is Wednesday. Has the release date been pushed up? Will it hit theatres a few days early?? I want this movie right now!!!!!!!
-

hey guys, can't we all just along and love us some
by nomoredirtyjokespleaseweareyanks
Dolph!
-
doesn't make you less of a twat.
-
smug and lame or not.
-
Heh. Dude, that comparison between Q3 and Q4 was comedy. So was the Sly response.
-
THE REAL QUESTION WE NEED TO KNOW IS IF MARION COBRETTI IS THE MAIN CHARACTER IN DEATHWISH AS OPPOSED TO PAUL KERSEY, DON'T WASTE TIME WITH DOCTOR WHO QUESTIONS ! ALL DOCTOR WHO FANS ARE NOT WORTHY OF THE GRANDEUR OF STALLONE !
-
Are you named Ian and from Austin, or is your whole name Ian Austin?
-
In such a talkback, expect readers from Austin or Dallas to pile at your door, and to answer their expectations yourself. You can't own AICN and acts like such a moron to waste trash questions on someone as respectful as Stallone.
I'm beginning to think you're on crack, or drunk all the time watching your pile of never filmed scripts thinking you're the king of cool, when you're an idiot making us wait so long for Doctor Who questions and Rambo vs his son or vs Osama questions. Show some respect to Sly ! -
it blew shit up! and the guys arguing over who got the gun! showdown in little tokyo!
-
That was pretty smug and lame.
-
Happy to oblige.
-
we're startup, but we're cool. news on videogames, movies, gossip, sports and world headlines. stuff you might actually WANT to read about!

but then I'm biased!

First question, fair enough question, led to a decent story. Second question, already been asked, so pointless (not the fault of the person who sent it, but Harry for picking it). Third question, fucking idiotic and an utter waste of time. Fourth question, confusingly written, but led to a decent answer. Fifth question, fair question, answer could have been a little more in depth though. Sixth question, weird and borderline pointless question, but got a decent response regardless (even if it was just another "Dolph hits so hard..." story). Seventh question, potentially quite interesting question, too bad Stallone completely dodged it, rendering it useless. Eight question, passable question, rather boring answer. Ninth question, stupid question, predictable answer. Tenth question, decent question, passable but somewhat dull answer. And we waited a week for this... Let's get a better batch next time, eh? And Harry, instead of sending him ten questions, why not send him 15 or so, and let him pick out the best ten from the bunch that he wants to answer himself? That way you'd avoid interesting questions that he's just going to dodge, and the stupid questions that are just going to have him scratching his head going "what the fuck?". Just a thought.
-
Harry do that- send him a selection, so we don't get more 1 line- "why the fuck are you asking me this crap" answers.
-
Sly as the Doctor would have been awful.....
-
I'll have you know that I spent minutes trying to make Q4 less confusing. You should've seen how erratically written the first attempt was.
-
That said, I am looking forward to Rambo. I do not think he is an A lister yet....
-
...UFC sucks compared to boxing. Can you ever imagine a UFC spectacle on the same level as Tyson/Lewis in 2002 or The Rumble In The Jungle in Zaire in 1974 or most recently the Mayweather/Hatton fight - In a nutshell, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Heck K-1 has more of a big ticket feel to it than UFC, with Jenna Jameson at ringside which is the closest thing that resembles glamour.
-
was give me the idea that Dolph should be on 'Dancing with the Stars'. But having said that I couldn't even come up with a question at all. So what do I know?
-
boxing sucks compared to ufc. The only reason is such a spectacle is because its hyped by all the sports outlets and known by the general public. Give UFC time it will get there.

He holds a masters degree in chemical engineering, speaks five languages fluently, holds a 3rd degree blackbelt in Karate and was the team leader of the 1996 Olympic pentathlon team. He's also twelve feet tall and played the Clovefield monster without a suit.
-
Why don't you shut the hell up.
You're like turd that won't flush.
Sly can answer the questions however he wants, he's actually really funny. -
Look no further than the shitastic Bridge of Dragons. Cheap-ass WWII uniforms, bleak Eastern European locales, and a ridiculous fantasy/fairy tale plot. Add to that Dolph's character name, "Warchild"(!), and the funniest roundhouse kick (applied to Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) in cinema history and you have a crap classic.
-
Boxers always get bad-mouthed by MMA but the truth is that Boxing's best would completely steamroll over the best in the UFC and other MMA organizations. Heavyweight boxers simply hit much, much harder than martial artists, are generally in better cardiovascular shape, are conditioned to take punishment better, and have vastly superior footwork. Granted, if a boxer gets taken down he may have a big problem but getting in that close to a heavyweight fighter like Lennox or Tyson is, in and of itself, a significant challenge. I don't see many fighters in the UFC, Pride or anywhere else taking very many shots to the head from a guy like Lennox and remaining vertical. The only exception to this might be Fedor, who is seriously one of the baddest dudes in the ring I have ever seen.

New Plant in the cottage TB
-
I've not seen that in ages. *Jarv buggers off to Lovefilm to queue it*
-
Who would win, Sly?
-
That Dr who question made me want to kill myself!!
-
Dr. Who as played by Sly or Rambo?
-
with one swing of his Machete. And then goes back hunting!:)
-
John Travolta's lycra dance pants or Stallone's fur coat?
See, you guys made me do that. I didn't want to. (Although the actual answer would be Richie Sambora's kerchief.) -
Is that vein in the side of your head pulsing as you post?
-
It's not often that someone on the internet will completely embarrass themselves then peek their heads out of the bunker to take more hits. That was probably the dumbest question you could ever ask, but it has been worth it to see him get run.
-
questions. It's not Sly's fault. The first talkback for Rocky Balboa was great. We loved it. Sly loved it, or he wouldn't be back. We're getting the same old stupid questions. I'm an idiot for not submitting. I still want info on what happened to Dolan's Cadillac, and info from anyone on whether the DTV Dtox aka Eye See You was any good, and would love to hear from Sly why it went the DTV route. These are obscure questions, good questions, and JT you deserve to smack me upside the head for not submitting them.
-
"It's not often that someone on the internet will completely embarrass themselves then peek their heads out of the bunker to take more hits" Bullshit. It's daily. This is TAAALKBAAAAACK
-
Thanks JT. I needed that.
-
a solid $20 million opening. i will literally cry if Meet the Spartans musters up more $$$ than RAMBO.
-
it probably will.
look at the weekend the bourne ultimatum opened, and rush hour 3 dominated it.
it makes me sad.
but hey, welcome to our country. -
I wouldn't have known that you wrote that with all your love JT....
-
These aren't bad questions by any means but how about some questions that dig up Hollywood dirt...
-
This guy is depreciatively entertaining.
Harry - please send Mr Stallone some Dr Who. I mean, he couldn't be any worse than Eric "SHTILETO DANSHH" Roberts, right?
Oh and as for that stolen car, wasn't there a pic of Father Geek leaning against it posted a few years back? I think Harry stole the Cobra-mobile. -

Stallone is making the same mistake as with the last Rambo movie
by hellking
I've been watching Stallone promote this movie and it's deja vu with Rambo III which was the worst performing. Rambo IIIwas set in Afghanistan and he's promoting this new one just like Rambo III. He's trying to link reality with his action picture as if it's a message movie. People don't want to watch action movies for the moral value and Stallone now some sort of spokesman for Burma now. He's calling this he worst genocide happening today. What ever happened to Darfur? When Hollywood has to compete on who's massacre they cry for is worse, then you know the cause is meaningless to them.
-
The Marathon of Rambos is great marketing
-
I gotta get Mark Cuban on the phone and get him to promote a night of "UWE GETS HIS ASS WHOMPED" at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Tickets will start at 20$. For 50$ you get to watch Boll be shown his own shitty films as torture after the fights.
-
Is anyone gonna ask sly if he`s got anymore amusing peanut butter up the ass stories?
-
It's purely an issue of taste.A more interesting (And on-topic) question would be if Sly is interested in making a movie about the sport of MMA. What kind of story would he tell?
-
Apparently Heath Ledger was found dead.... developing...
-
whens harry posting it? why does he post so late?
-
What does that have to do with day 4?
You're still going to work/school tomorrow, arent you? -
ya, im sad that Heath Ledger died today too...no need for you to be an asshole about it though..the world doesnt stop...
-
What does that have to do with Sly's Q&A?
You're still going to work/school tomorrow, arent you? -
A famous actor did pass away today, which is why I posted in the Obit for him. This is the Stallone thread, and perfectly okay to wonder what the hell the hold up is. Ledger and Rambo ain't got nothin to do with anything. "Sorry folks, out of respect for Heath Ledger, Rambo is being delayed until summer 2008." Makes no sense. And what's with all this talk of Rambo making no money? I can't even take that comment seriously.
-
You essentially copy and paste.
One of the biggest stars in the world is doing a Q&A on your revenue-generating web page...you have a responsibility to deliver on time. -
How DARE you, sir!
-
did i miss the talkback? i just gotta say... people who think boxing is better than MMA need thier head examined. an MMA fight card will have multiple fights that could be the main event all on one card. in boxing, most elite fighters pad thier resumes by taking easy fights.. thusly "i'm undefeated, but most of my wins are against chumps." in MMA, the elite fight the elite every month. eventually, boxing will fade out... and MMA will rule all sports in popularity
