The Return of Tarissa Dyson!!
Tonight Arrives Hour Three
Of Fox’s TV TERMINATOR!!
I am – Hercules!!
Why does John Connor remain so determined to go to high school? Didn’t he learn earlier that the schools are now hiring terminators?
Perhaps we learn from tonight’s episode, titled “The Turk.”
Fox says:
Sarah pays a visit to Miles Dyson's widow looking for Skynet's creators. Her search leads her to Andy Goode, a cell phone salesman who also happens to also be the inventor of a chess playing computer known as "The Turk." Sarah has to make a tough decision regarding her friendship with Goode. Meanwhile, John and Cameron try their best to assimilate on their first day at the new high school and John is conflicted about his role as a hero. Agent James Ellison finds himself getting closer to the truth.

first??
-
Damn you reality TV!
-
John Connor is in high school? Yeah, great place to hide. The Terminator series died the moment Cameron walked away.
-
The three leads are pretty well cast.
-
for this to hit the UK!! And it's going to be on Virgin1, the only channel I know that has ad breaks longer than the actual programme they are supossed to sandwich....! I still want to watch it though.
-
Better than I could have hoped for.
-
Seriously, it won't make it past 1 season, if that.
-
who would pick that up in the store if they saw it, besides some 8 year old kid?
-
I miss all the bickering.
-
I bet it's not a program, but 1+ humans secretly making the chess moves. I called it here! I'm also calling that river is the first human-designed and built terminator, but that seems fairly obvious
-
I must admit, I fail to see why John is even going to high school. I understand that it creates some nice dramatic situations, and I understand that it helps the show relate to teens. But if I were Sarah Connor, I would not be enrolling him in high school. It just doesn't make sense. They'll have to come up with quite a rationale for this. Anyway, I quite like the first hour of this show. It has potential - and Lena Headley looked great as Sarah.
-
terminator?
-
Also the best way for them to hide is for them to act like normal people. John is more likely to be found out if he is seen wandering around when other kids his age are at school.
-
The kid knows he's important to the future, and he knows anywhere he goes another terminator is waiting in line to kill him, But when told to stay put, after 5 minutes he's bored and puts everything at risk just to hang out at the mall. Wouldn't the last 5 attempts at his life be some kind of trigger that maybe there's a big bulls eye painted on his back and future or not, he's dead meat if he showed his face? But it's like I've always said; "If it weren't for stupid characters, we wouldn't have any movies to watch." If the kid was intelligent he'd stay hidden, the terminator wouldn't be able to find him, all'd be well, and we'd have no drama. Hence---the dumb teenager.
-
Everything seems to be clicking, except for the cliched storyline about the "determined" police officer always just a step behind (i.e., Richard T Jones' character). There's plenty of room for drama when you've got TERMINATORS chasing you - having a cop doing the same thing seems a bit redundant. But still, very cool show.
-
YES! What a kick ass show! Much needed nourishment in the starving void of the Writers Strike.
-
Sometimes the best place to hide is in plain site. He still needs an education of some sort and I doubt his single mom has time to home school him (although you'd think Cameron could teach him). They probably also want him to have an affinity for the rest of humanity so he'll rise to the occasion and try to lead them (it seemed like keeping him inside and stuff all the time was making him pretty disconnected).
Really I just think it makes more sense for him to go to school. He gets his education and since no one knows what he looks like, so as long as his identity holds up he is fine. They need to blend in because the more they stick out and make themselves different from anyone else then people start looking at them closely.
I imagine thats skynet's dream.. have the cops detain them for suspicion or something and confined to a 10x10 cell.
-
Will this episode be about the brother of a firefighter that was injured by a Terminator who decides to get revenge on the Terminator by making him look bad in public?
-
cameron is not a terminator but a cyborg built by humans to help their cause.
-
When the most interesting character on the show is some robot chick who's basically doing her best Ahnuld imitation. Anyway I don't think this show will last. It's not treading new ground, it should have taken place during the future war, not more of the same. zzz
-
Then it can be enjoyed in ten episode seasons. The show can be treated like BSG. Fuck Sci-Fi.
-
And it makes very little sense.
-
Cyborg or not, that chick gets me all kinds of hard.
-
...douches that frequent this place but I can't fucking help it. She does something to me.
-
to get a green light.
The subtitle, "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" was necessary to get the green light.
Network wants appeal to certain demographics favored by advertisers.
But now that the show is something of a hit, producers should cut the crap.
-
Jesus we have some sharp minds here don't we. Friends > Education, always and forever...
-
Has busrts of coolness now and again, but nothing special. But, until LOST comes back, its all I got.
-
It's a notch above T3 in my opinion. That's not to say it doesn't have some cringe inducing moments, but overall it has a great start. Most TV shows improve after the first season so I'm hoping it develops into something even better.

I bet we're in for some wacky Cameron/student encounters!
by mr teaspoon
Can't wait for the hijinks!
-
OK, the show's not terrible, not great, but not awful either. ( A "C+" says the leader of Omicron Persei 8.) Yes, the whole endless time travel loopity-loop premise is ludicrous, but it almost always is, was, and always will be. John Connor in hiding by going to high school makes about as much sense as "Claire Bear" in hiding by going to high school. Maybe her and Summer can practice their super cheerleader routines together. But, don't worry, they're going to that Hollywood high school populated by dopey, baby-faced SoCal twentysomethings, so there's no acne, and Fox can get away with showing some serious teen rutting. With a little more money and some ingenious writing, this show could go somewhere, but I'm not holding my breath. Still, Summer Glau is a joy to behold.
-
about The Terminator in general. Why wouldn't the T-X or T-1000, superior models to T-800/101, always be sent back? Why, once they develope superior Terminators, would they ever send back lesser Terminators? And Why, if they have a time machine, and therefore have the ability to go back to any time they want, do they keep going back to different points in John's life, as he gets older and stronger? Why not always go back to 1984 or better yet, go back to '74, when Sara was a child. I know the answer is because then there's no story, but still, it bothers me.
-
The action is good for TV, but I just don't care about what is going on. Terminator should just say in the movie realm.
-
Meanwhile, Steven Moffat's DOCTOR WHO episode "Blink" is up for a Nebula award. Just thought you ought to know.
-
Timeline explanation if anyone's unclear: Step 1, ignore Terminator 3. It never happened. Step 2, the TV pilot immediately follows the Connors winning in T2. No more Terminators, they're only fleeing the law. It's OK to go to school under an alias (Reese a little to obvious though). When John is attacked at school that is how they discover Skynet is back. They fight the T-whathundred in the bank and it looks like everybody died in 1999. Skynet is fighting John Connor in the future so they know he didn't die but they don't know where he went and the government thinks the Connors are dead. Therefore it's safe to go to school in 2007 at least until something happens that Skynet can find out about in the future.
-
Hardly a return. I like the show, though.
-
Also, I'd love to have sex with Summer Glau's mouth.

That's all I got.
-
since when was this series in real time for you to post "hour 3" of Terminator??
-
Sarah Conner's Mother was killed in the first movie.
-
the Acme Indestructible Camera; monster-tested, mother-approved.
-
The idea of killing Sarah Connor's mother led me to think...how far back would the machines be able to calcuclate Connor's family tree? A 19th century setting for a terminator? Wild west and robots...oh, I guess they would have to name a character Crichton.
-
going through the portal. Canon is gone. Where is the outrage. Orcus gave himself a headache trying to describe possible reasons why it could be. I like Orcus, but the truth is the writers are either stupid, lazy, or stupid and lazy. I'll watch it tonight to see if these fools can redeem themselves or not.
-
The reason they never go beyond Sarah Connor in the timeline is because they don't know where to go because theres very little history on Sarah or something to that effect.
-
See the movies. These are a waste of time. Lots of chases, lots of action and at the end of the day, lots of nothing really happening.
-

Tinker, for a split second I thought you said
by Grammaton Cleric Binks
the movies are a waste of time. Then, we would have to hurt you. Lecter, of course you are right. All they had in Terminator was Sarah's name, and the city she lived in.
-
That sounds like Terminator: One-Shot. http://tinyurl.com/3bqnd7
Here's how it fits in with the timeline, http://tinyurl.com/326d2p

about DR WHO CARES .......answer...no one !! this show rules, love the reinvention..i love it cuz it makes all u pussy fanboys get ur panties in a bunch.....hahhaha
-
I've enjoyed this show way more than I thought I would thus far (I know it has barely started) but I can't help but be really confused and annoyed by two things. One is the metallic terminator head that travels through time, breaking the living tissue rule that has been established since the first terminator movie. The other is the headless body that was never recovered by any authorities - it was just thrown in a scrap heap and sat there for years - then powered back up and found its missing head. I'm all about suspension of disbelief, but if this series has a lot of bits like these two that make very little sense, it's not going to last too long.
-
first, there is no way they can have Kyle
-
first, there is no way they can have Kyle Reese in the show. In the first movie Reese and Sarah are 20-somethings and Reese is from the year 2030 meaning that he would probably only be a baby at the time of the series. And the other thing, the series is kind of messing up the continuity of the movies. I was watching T3 on the weekend and that movie took place in 2004, the series takes place in 2007, after they go forward in time. So I don't know what that's all about, are they doing a Bryan Singer thing to Terminator and just ignoring Terminator 3...wouldn't be such a bad idea in my books.
-
Skynet has no idea what Sarah's ancestry is. Remember in the first movie Kyle said most of the records were lost in the war. The first terminator went after every Sarah Connor in the phone book. Skynet has to be careful about killing too many random people too far in the past because it could cause a butterfly effect that prevents its own existence.
-
At least, according to the ads on here. Looks like a going out of business sale. :(
-
It wouldn't be weird, they are living skin over metal endoskelleton. Like Reese said, "Bad skin, sweat, bad breath."
-
and this show will be completely removed from continuity, so I don't understand why the hell they aired it.
-
John and terminator chick go back to school. You know damn well at some point there will be a pool scene.
When metal terminator chick hits the pool she should sink like a stone.
Watch hillarity ensue.
Show sucks end the pain now. Even Flash Gordon is better.
-
Why have a shitty Terminator tb, I know someone gets paid, when the new seasons of Torchwood/Shameless and Primeval are up and running.
Ps Torchwood is still the GAYEST show on tv.
-
mark my words.
-
So did T3, probably. Let's face it, there's no continuity to the whole thing anyway.
-
According to James Cameron's T2 Script, the character Enrique was killed when the T-1000 shows up. Enrique empties a weapon into it, then the T-1000 does his impaling thing, and Enrique's last action is to pull the pin on a grenade. After the blast, the T-1000 shows signs of potential damage. Cameron opted against shooting it for the reason that it showed the T-1000 being damanged and possibly vulnerable before the final showdown. This version of Enrique (SG-1's Master Bratek) was much too old to have been the same one from T-2, and far too domesticated.
-
but, i am just not getting into it. i mean, not only does it differ WILDLY from the original film series, they don't even maintain what made the characters of john connor and sarah connor so compelling. john connor, as played by edward furlong, was a wiseass. he could hack into atm machines, outrun terminators and still crack a smart ass joke. now he's become a moody douchebag. yes, he's been through a lot. but, his ability to smile through the pain was what made him great. now, he just bitches and moans. i hate what they've turned him into. and, sarah connor. i mean, she used to be a well prepared bad ass. now, she's a soft head. not only is she not cut. she isn't prepared. even in t3, her tomb was well stocked with an arsenal. she barely has a hand gun now. and, has no network to speak of. and, as hot as the terminator girl is, she is bland. i don't like the story arc of the series. it just muddies the water of the mythology. it had so much potential, but doesn't go anywhere. it's treading water in the shallow end. and, for those lunkheads, 'the turk' is a reference to an actual chess playing machine created in the 1800's. it was a clockwork, in the guise of a turban wearing 'turk', that a man would hide under to give the appearance that the machine could actually think and respond. this is a limp attempt, by the series, to draw a line from ai to terminators. a very limp attempt. i hate this show. but, really wanted to like it...
-
character, but it was a problem between T2 and T3 as well. His character changes wildly between those two films. I've enjoyed the series so far. There's some nice action and I like Sarah Connor's character. She comes pretty damn close to psychologically abusing her son, which I think makes sense since she's trying to toughen him up to be the leader of the free world. It does have its cringe inducing moments but I think the good outweighs the bad.
-
t3 was far superior to this corny series. it wasn't where i would've gone with the story. but, at least, it followed the style and story of what had gone on before. and, kristen lokken is WAY more bad ass than of the dumb terminators in this tv show. tv can be done well, see: Prison Break, 24, Lost, Heroes, to name a few. but, my god, Sarah Connor Chronicles is awful. they suck all the good right out...
-
WE SLEEP!
-
i like nick stahl as an actor. Carnivale was brilliant. but, both the way he is written and the way stahl plays him, does a complete disservice to the character. he's far too mopey. john connor should develop into the leader before our eyes. he has to maintain that ability to laugh it off. or, they write themselves into a creative corner. where do you go with a character you've made too burdened? it's better, from a story line perspective, to use the gifts he's been given. why doesn't he use his computer skills more often? there's that toss off line about 'not being on the grid'. but, good hackers have a very skilled ability to cloak their movements. why don't sarah and john know more? they did in t2. why don't they join forces more? my mom has always been supportive of what i wanted to do, and she didn't have a dude from the future come and tell her i'm gonna be some bad ass hero. why doesn't sarah connor train her son better? gun skills? fighting skills? computer skills? liger skills? ya know? it just makes no sense. i want to see these people fight the future. but, where are their weapons? how do they develop? when, all they do, is whine and act like it shouldn't be happening to THEM. they mythology of terminator is so rich. and yet, THIS is what picture they paint? pointless and uninteresting.
-
I guess I like the show because I thought the whole concept was a bad idea in the first place and I was surprised that it didn't completly suck. And it's more than just a chase scene every episode.
-
The scene in T3 where he's watching Judgment Day go down, knowing what he has to do but being overwhelmed by it all was pretty cool. He's not the leader of the resistance because he's some military genius, he was thrust into it. Of course, there had to be some timeline where he did it on his own but whatever.
-
"Show sucks end the pain now. Even Flash Gordon is better." There goes your credibility. And for the rest of you whiny losers who don't like this show because of continuity problems...GET A LIFE!! If you don't like it, don't watch it! Keep watching all the other great stuff on TV at the moment Like Big Shots and Cashmere Mafia!! You bunch of complaining queerbags.
-
There's been a kick-ass Dexter talkback in AICN's The Zone forever. Get with the program, boy.
-
Has been for a while now. Is Herc's column the only thing you read in here?

Sarah, John & Cameron created an alt. continuity with time jump
by TallBoy66
That's why I can buy that we've gone from a few lone time travelers sent back (Reese, the two model 101's, the T-1000 and the T-X), so a whole shebang and Terminator 3 doesn't happen. This is a What If story, or a Mirror Mirror universe. I can dig it.
-
Blah, boring show.
-
it's not just continuity problems, it's character problems. both make the show a headache. it's terminator! ya think i wanna not like it?! just because it's cooler than cashmere mafia doesn't make it something i should watch. i'm glad you enjoy it. i just don't...
-
because sexy ladies work. I hope they can work in some cryogenics
-
yes, it looks like the time travelers are using Terminator time travel.
-
He does BSG, so you know it's great. I love this show. I will pick up the DVD set when it comes out eventually.
-
It makes no sense. She acted like a normal girl in the first episode.
-
That final scene...bad terminator in the tub....total frickin chills! that shit was awesome! i'm hooked.
-
I agree..i love this show...but why do they have her acting all strange again? is it cause she fell out a window last week and needed to be upgraded like John mentioned?
-
She got hit by cars like six times already.
-
I am really enjoying this show and I am extremely curious to see where they take it but having her act all robotic was a little annoying. It's only episode three and in episode one they had her acting like a completely normal teenager. It's forgivable, but I mean come on..
-
I was thinking this show would quickly fizzle, but it's really damn good. Robot-girl is still acting too robotic compared to her introduction, but she still works. Feminator also teeters on the brink of being weird looking and hot, usually towards hot though. She's the kind of girl that might be fugly without any makeup and lighting. A hot body helps makeup for it though. I'd probably start her out in the Naughty Schoolgirls line, then work her into the Teen Vixen series, then eventually finish off with a good run in the Amatuer Cheating Housewives vids.
-
I agree it was better than expected. Some good writing going on except for the dumb shit coming from the teens mouths. Girls aren't that retarded... i still think his show won't last but well it's got a shot i guess.
-
it annoys me that a few friends of mine LIKE this show. Im losing respect for them.
-
Nothing like spending a Monday night reading a thread of posts where 45% of people whine about how this isn't canon, another 45% are 14-year-olds (and 38-year-olds living in their mom's basement) who feel better about themselves by posting about fucking an actress (guys please, you wouldn't know what to do with those women if you had the chance), and another 10% who like the show. The show has lame moments. The terminator head going through the portal w/o skin probably just looked cool to everyone at the time, and after it was already done I'm sure there was an "oh shit" moment where they realized that didn't make sense, but said, ah, screw it. What bothered me more than that was the terminator in the premiere stopping in the classroom to look back and say "class dismissed." Are you fucking kidding me? I almost stopped watching the show at that moment. The thing is sent back to kill the guy that will defeat the machines in the future...has the kid within a few feet of him...and wastes valuable time to dismiss the class? Hell no. The terminators in the movies were the real deal, the stop at nothing to kill their target kind. But I'm willing to forgive some of that, because overall the show is good. I have worries about them being able to maintain my interest in subsequent seasons, but i have those with any show. And for all the people griping about how it makes T3 irrelevant, just think of it this way. Would you rather them travel back in a period piece. Remember Back to the Future 3? Remember TMNT 3...turtles in time? It could be MUCH worse.
-
Okay, I like the show..sue me. I have a question though. The body they found in the scientist apartment..was that the scientist that the terminator enlisted for help or was that another body? That would make the ending scene more of a flashback..not being nitpicky, i just go confused
-
You're criticizing everyone that posts here, and.... you've written the longest post on the thread so far.
-
Damn!!! Sarah(aka Lena) is stunningly beautiful!!! The dark hair and sexy green eyes are a great combo. The terminators look pretty cool in robot form. I'm assuming they look better now then they did in the first movie. I can't remember exact details.
-
Some of you are pretty fucking critical on the looks of the actress. She looks fine and if they put someone a lot hotter in the role, you'd be criticizing that actress for something lame too. It's just a TV show, if you enjoy it, watch it, if not, then change the damn channel, and if you like to sit in your moms basement a wack off to it, then keep that shit to yourself, that's fucking weird to post on a message board.
-
I think their gonna have John Connor develop into the heroic figure he is in the future. Let's be honest, he was a punk kid in T2, but here, he wanted to save that girl from dying, he went on about the singularity and the threat of AI. I think he's gonna grow into the leader as part of the show, which will be cool to see.
-
...the season finale. You know it will happen! So T3 never happened in this timeline, eh? Works for me! But the high school backstory was so very dull...
-
I dont know why. The whole vibe isnt right..i cant get over stupid looking Terminators...they dont even try to tell us that these other Terminators are like...T450s or something to at least try to explain why they are not looking like ahnuld. Its like the thing with this Blad Series...something smells fishy. But i cought myself with downloading the latest episode of this TerminatorSeries so...i think...somehow..i like it. Is Summer Glau Hot ? No. Would i eF her till she cant walk anymore ? Yes. So...the same here. Ah well.
-
With a writers strike on, and precious little else to keep us entertained, how is it that a handful of people in this talkback are already writing this show off after just 3 episodes? So far, a great story is developing, the characters are interesting and engaging, some half decent special effects and an episodic arc to keep us coming back each week.
I'm really liking this show. So what if there's a few cliches, it has already proved a couple of times that it's willing to twist it's own cliches to surprise us (Deaths in both EP 2 & 3 surprised me) This is a smart show that will surpise us all by it's longevity. With so many shows being cancelled or on permanent hiatus at the moment, perhaps all TV fans should at least give this show a few more episodes before passsing judgement on it.
-
The opening dream with Sarah surrounded by Terms. It would have looked better if it was a wide shot of her getting shot in the face. The Terms look way better than current Cylons CGI. I thought it was odd for writer to let that girl jump to her death. Bad image/message for primetime. Looks like it will be a few more ep's for current Term baddie to get his faceon and go after his goal again. But it's interesting to watch. I thought that professor dude was going to say it was beautiful and worship it or something.
-
Um, a terminator tried to kill him there in the first episode morons. And, can someone please explain how Fembot blends in perfectly in school in the first episode, and two episodes later she's lost all social skills? If anyone says it' because of the electric shock I'm going to smack them.
-
so im gonna sound like a nitpicky fanboy but whats up with that big plate on the endoskeletons chest? is it some legal thing to seperate this from the movies or avoid lawsuits from james cameron/stan winston or what? but i do like how the composer uses that little T2 music theme whenever the terminator is around.
-
Just kidding. I was wondering the same thing myself.
-
then being killed. John will not know about this brother who will be adopted by the Reese's and given the name Kyle. So his brother will commit incest, and become his father. That's why he's so screwed up.
-
This episode was by far the dumbest of the 3. The whole robotic act from the female terminator after blending in so well is just bad bad writing. I wouldn't care as much if John would mention how she blended in at first, and now she's so retarded acting. So are they just going to disregard ALL of the events of the first episode now? It feels like the people who wrote this show don't give a damn about consistency. I'll keep watching, but it's not a show I will pay much attention to. Hell, Prison Break is way better right now, but I never see it mentioned on this site.

I still think the terminator putting itself back together is dumb and shouldn't have been possible in the first place (skinless endoskull through the time portal FTL) but the gore and blood was pretty cool. When the guy opened the terminator's eyelids and was greeted by the red eyes was a genuinely creepy looking effect. Now, why the guy was surprised when this happened I don't know... wasn't he in the bathroom with the terminator when it took its clothes off revealing itself?
-
who just choked me. Instead of running away I think I will try to help him because I'm sure he won't hurt me. He looks so friendly. Duh.
-
This show is stupid and the only reason why the ratings are good is because of the strike. Now they are sending tons of people back from the future? Who exactly is in charge in the future for transportation? Greyhound? Amtrak? Delta? Do travelers get frequent flyer miles?
-
Jan. 22, 2008, 8:27 a.m. CST
Why has the female terminator turn socially retarded this Ep?
by DarfurOnTheRocks
She was fine in the pilot, now she is a bitch slut ho or whatever?!
-
Please don't fucking cancel this , or I'll throw my tv out the window you pencil pushing cock-knockers.
-
Resistance needs to do something radical about that pop quiz.
-
if you remember, the time displacement field in t2: it was hot and burnt everything it touched. so can't it be that the skin was simply burned off the skin off the terminator when he was in the future?
-
i just thought of that right now
-
I saw Phil Morris's name in the credits (I assume he's Miles Dyson) but he never showed up. Anyone know the low down?
-

I guess I was never expecting much in the first place, but I'm liking it more that I would have thought. Light years beyond bionic woman anyway. Yeah, I too thought it was odd that femterm was having trouble fitting in last night, but the early eps of a series are often like this. It'll take a while for the mythology to settle. Three episodes isn't enough for me to judge, but I'll keep watching for now.

On the question of Summer's hotness, there's not much going on body wise. If anything, she looks a little sexier with here cloths on. That being said, she has a very beautiful face and eyes I can't get over. It's an odd looking face, but I go for odd looking hot.

-
Glau looks sexier with her clothes on. Note it's "her clothes" not here cloths.
-
In order to find out what John Connor looks like why doesn't a terminator hook up onto the internet? John already did it and found his own image, why wouldn't a terminator do the same thing? Plothole. I say fill it by having a time traveler from the future strategically hack and remove all images of John Connor from the net before it's too late.
-
"They took his damn eyes!"
For some reason that line cracked me up.
-
It's "they took his freak'n eyes." Sorry to be a geek about it.
-
So, I'm guessing the Terminator will be able to just stuff some human eyeballs into his eye sockets and see through them with his terminator eyes? Will it be able to move its eyes around to make normal looking eye motion? Or will it be explained that the tissues that the terminator has covering its body are just gonna accept the eyes and meld with them? What the fuck?

I liked seeing the lady from The Shield with the police.
-
It was because the Fox censors thought the original scene, of the burning but still flesh-covered beheaded head of the Terminator flying at the camera, was too graphic. I dunno, I'm just betting.
-
Don't you love how he shut the door before getting into the tub of blood. I guess he didn't want us to see his tiny bionic balls.
-
I can admit it was a terribly "gay" scene. But the robodude looked super-bitch'n. Especially FOR TV.
-
I like the show. It's not great, but I would remind you folks that the first SEASON of ST:TNG was all over the map. Heck, I didn't get warm and fuzzy until Season 3 with that one and I'm old enough to have seen ST:TOS in first run on NBC in the '60's. So, I think all the hue and cry from most the TB'ers is pointless crap. Either allow the show to get some legs, or some hair to grow on your nut sack, or shut the hell up!

I'm actually liking this show more than I expected to. The dynamic of Summer Glau's terminator interacting quirkily with the Connors is tight (!), occasionally funny, and well written.
What I'm most enjoying is the fact the show gets super violent and twisted without sacrificing character moments. I find myself caring about the Connors, which is more than I can say about "T3." I'll be watching next week.

I'm still in.

People get this confused, so let me explain:
Arnold was a T-100 organic skin covering a T-400 and T-450 robot body. Basically, the T-100 is the line that looks like Arnold. The T-450 and T-400 are the "guts" underneath the outward appearance.
So these other terminators might be T-400 or T-450 model robot chassis, but their cyborg outer covering is obviously not Arnold, thus they are not T-100, like he was. They're something else. Doesn't matter, really. All that matters is that we know that Arnold's face wasn't the only one they used. I mean, what good would it be if they only used one outer appearance in their attempt to infiltrate human encampments? The whole point of the skin is to hide among humans, and if they all look identical, that sort of kills that advantage.

I'm liking this show (so far, but then I liked Heroes when it started and now I'm pissed at it for being consistently lame). However, something is already bugging me about it. It's not the aforementioned "Why do they go to school when they're on the run from the law?" issue, and it's not the "Why is Cameron acting like a robot now when she was like a normal girl in the pilot?" No, this is an issue that I'm hoping won't become a problem for me in future episodes:
Is every other episode going to start with Sarah having a bad dream?
Seriously. I understand it's a way to get some crazy shit on the screen and then end it without any repercussions for the story, but so far we've had two shows start with Sarah's fucked up dreams, and there have only been three episodes!
This could get to be a REALLY lazy writing habit. I get it. Sarah's obsessive and a little crazy. She's paranoid. She's a little fucked in the head. We REALLY understand that, as Terminator 2 made it VERY clear. We don't need to see her imagine being killed by Skynet or Terminators at the beginning of every episode!
They'd better cut this out! I don't want to see another fucked up Sarah dream this season.

Reviewing the pilot again (free on iTunes), the endo-head going through the portal was NOT in the pilot but retconned into the "previously on Terminator" montage in the next episode. I think the original intent was that all the Terminator wreckage would remain in the bank wreckage and reactivate later, but I bet the writers got stuck trying to think of a reason why it would wait till 2007 to reactivate, so they decided to send the head through time. I wonder if the story structure of having the bad Terminator lose its skin in the pilot and return as another actor was written to give an escape hatch to Arnold Schwarzenegger in the impossible hope that he would guest star. (The classroom scene would have to be slightly different with John recognizing him but being tricked into thinking the "Arnold" was good.) Kyle Reese potential: In 1984, Sarah asked Kyle if he saw the nuclear war and he shook his head and said he grew up after, in the ruins. In the TV timeline, is Kyle's birth delayed along with Judgment Day, which makes his parentage unlikely, or is he already here and having a normal childhood, which alters his character's experience beyond recognition?

Only super advanced computers have those. Other things advanced computers have: network capabilities, hard drives, motherboards and processors.

Cameron himself screwed up on the "only organic matter" rule
by Harold The Great
The T-1000 has no organic parts, and he traveled back just fine. Not to mention the rule is stupid in the first place. Just put your future gun between two pieces of meet and put it in the time machine future morons. They should just come out and say that the rule doesn't apply to Terminators, cuz they're made that way. Makes more sense then "but they have skin!" I like the secret cold war between Terminators and resistance fighters in present day. Great premise, hope they spend more time on it.

Never heard of a "side story"? The Japanese do them all the time! (Ex: Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex)

Get over it and enjoy!
-
Kyle Reese may have been misinformed.
TechCom may not have had time to fully reverse-engineer Skynet's time facility.
Resistance scientists may have improved the time device.
The geek explanations may continue.

this weeks show was a good improvement on the terminator series..I thought the first bad guy terminator in the premier episode was a bit cheesy..Nice effects on the endoskeleton!

She's starting to look constipated.

Would still like to know how the terminaotr ended up in the scra
by drewlicious
They had no trouble recovering body parts from the first attack yet a whole unit is tossed in the trash. Did it get scooped up with the debris and deposited or what?
-
you can't time travel a robot made of metal, but if you wrap the robot in organic skin it works? that can't possibly make any sense!
-
the point of the show is that they are trying change the future therefore changing his "fate". if they are successful, there will be no need for a john conner. it's also possible that the john conner in the show is not the john conner who ends up saving mankind. maybe he's cloned? maybe sarah has another child who is the real john conner. this is science fiction, anything can happen.
-
Not sure if it's Glau's performance or if producer input is to blame but..... I read that Summer had never seen any of the movies prior to being cast. Maybe after the pilot she caught up on the movies & is now subconsciously (or not) mimic previous Terminators.

The new show is produced by C2 Pictures, which produced Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, in association with Warner Bros. Television. The Fox Broadcasting Company also joined the project by making a commitment to the pilot with Josh Friedman writing the pilot and to serve as an executive producer for the series. Among the executive producers were C2 Pictures' Andy Vajna, Mario Kassar and James Middleton. Executive producer James Middleton confirmed in Variety that the series will contain a link to Terminator 4.
-
During his divorce with Linda Hamilton, she asked for the Terminator franchise rights which she promptly sold to Carolco Pictures owners Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna. On May 9, 2007, it was announced that rights to the Terminator series had passed hands from producers Andrew G. Vajna and Mario Kassar to the Halcyon Company, a privately funded company formed by entrepreneurs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson.

If you think this, you need to rewatch the first movie. The first movie established that the terminators don't have the same skin. Rewatch Kyle Reese's dream under the bridge. The terminator that infiltrates the camp in the future is clearly a different skin.
-
Hey, does anyone have any custom skins or know where I can get a pack of skins for my T-800? I think user created skins are cool, but mine never look right. Someone told me SkinJobs Inc. has great ones, but I hear they're kind of expensive.
-
i dont know whats funnier, the same lame-os that complain about "lazy writing" as if they have a clue how to write for TV or the 'tards that want explanations for every little thing. or the impressive asses that cant comment on anything except how much they wanna bang summer glau.
-
I'm guessing the reason the terminator needed to take the guy's eyes, rather than growing his own, are because those were much more specialized tissue than the muscle and skin he grew. Perhaps he didn't have the capability to regrow the eyes using his home-grown method.
