The First Image From Disney’s PRINCESS AND THE FROG Appears Online!
Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
... and it looks like a Disney film, oddly enough.
The image was taken from the Walt Disney Company’s Annual Report, which was just issued, and appeared online courtesy of the Blue Sky Disney blog, which is a good bookmark to add in general.

On the one hand, I think it's great that Disney Animation is emphasizing an African-American female lead. On the other hand, the cynical side of me says this is just Disney making more money by selling its Princess Syndrome mentality to a new ethnic demographic of impressionable girls. Sigh.

I'm sick of dragging my mouse over the screen to have some trailer I didn't ask for start to load. Really annoying. In fact, it's not effective advertising at all because I'm now considering NOT seeing any of the films that have these shitty adverts. Oh, nice picture.

Whatever, yeah sure. Princess and the Frog will be neat. I'm glad Disney is going back to 2D traditional animation. But I think Rapunzel has more of my interest now, at least if it's being made they way they said they were doing a few years back.

Yah, you heard me well enough. Black Rich girl falls in love with poor street musician and she wants him but the parents protest. She sells her soul to the evil voodoo priestess who turns her into a frog and in the interim ,the princess has to have sex with a crocodile where they'll reuse footage from All Dogs Go to Heaven,even though its a Bluth film, and then more shit happens.

The balcony is more crooked than a dogs hind leg... you'd think they would incorporate a ruler when drawing this stuff up. Or at least a sense of proper perspective... I thought Disney fired all of its 2D animators a couple years ago.

Back from some Disney shareholder meeting or something. They revealed a bunch of pictures when they were making a big deal about the first African-American "princess"

It's a John Lasseter joint. At least, he's got his hand it, final approval, and is dictating the process (numerous story passes to get a tight, movie-worthy story) So, I'm betting it's a better film than anything that's come out of Disney Studio's since the days of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, etc. Even Bolt might not suck, given Lasseter's input. We'll just have to see about that.

Seriously guys, the Bond casting news, the Deathly Hallows alleged split, and now this, all posted days before on Empire's site. Disney should NOT have forgotten who they were (well, they haven't forgotten the part about them being an evil corporation...I'm talking about the good things!) Not that there's much hope for the movie anyway.

The film takes place in the Jazz-era south. I believe she is a maid in a rich household and discovers some sort of magical world, not rich or a 'princess' herself(until the end).

Disney should just take all the projects they have in the pipe and make ridiculous comedies out of them. Emperor's new groove started out as this serious epic animated movie about the Incas or the Aztecs and look what it became. Either that or make Night on Bald Mountain into a 2 hour movie. That would be fucking terrifying.
