Another Promo For The Latest KNIGHT RIDER TV-Movie!

Published at:  Jan 14, 2008 4:26:26 PM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

For those unaware, Universal is following up its series “Knight Rider” (1982), its TV-movie “Knight Rider 2000” (1991), its TV-movie “Knight Rider 2010” (1994) and its TV series “Team Knight Rider” (1997) with yet another “Knight Rider” TV-movie.

It’s airing next month on NBC, which last year revived another beloved sci-fi franchise with its series remake of “The Bionic Woman.”

Steve Shill, who also directed episodes of the recent “Dragnet” and “Night Stalker” remakes, directs the 2008 TV-movie “Knight Rider," written by David Andron, who wrote the seventh of the eight aired episodes of “Raines.”

The 2008 version stars Justin Bruening, Deanna Russo, Greg Ellis, Kevin Dunigan, Kevin Christy, Jonathan Chase, Susan Gibney, Sydney Tamia Poitier, Bruce Davison and, it is rumored, original series star David Hasselhoff. Will Arnett replaces William Daniels as the voice of the talking supercar KITT.

NBC has been issuing promos for the project. Here’s the latest:

Fox and MGM have knocked 48-50% off a number of their series titles, including:

$15.49 The Die Hard Trilogy
$30.99 Rocky: The Complete Saga
$34.99 The Addams Family: The Complete Series

$74.99 Family Guy: Party Pack
$119.99 Land of the Giants: The Complete Series
$145.99 The James Bond Ultimate Collector’s Set

There was an unofficial sequel called Knightrider 2010, but it had little to do with the show, and I believe wasn't even filmed as a sequel, they just named it Knightrider to cash in!!

And they act as if that's something to boast with.... Yeah, it's more than your average car, but after the advent of the Bugatti Veyron, they really should have reconsidered whether that much less is really that impressive... Even the SLR McLaren has more.... Did someone tell them the 80s have been over for a while??? The Bugatti EB110 and the Jaguar XJ220 in the early 90s could already compete with newKITT on the block's performance....

Personally, I got really attached to the idea of Will Arnett. But William Daniels would have been awesome too. And this guy... this Optimus sorta-be, I could deal with that too. I think what sinks this ship is when they try to make Michael as hip and macho as the Hoff was back in the 80's. Nobody buys into that anymore. At least I don't. hope they make him emo sensitive michael with like... ninja abilities or something. that'd be awesome...

but worthy of mention..... where are the reviews for JUNO ? we got a review of "in the name of the king" but not JUNO..... maybe more than i am aware this "original screenplay" bares more than one similarity to a korean film called "jenni and juno" which coincidently has the exact same premise..... so much for originality. the writer diablo cody said she based it on her innocent years before she stripped for a year... too many coincidences i say.....very sad that so many writers write for years and never get nothing on the screen and this stripper gets her first screenplay produced.....maybe she greased a different type of pole ....very odd tho u have to admit .....not one review on page one ? anywhere....i had to search the archive for mention of this movie .....last archive was from september of last year ......something stinks.....thought AICN woulda caught it .... but i musta been smokin somethin

    by srh1son

As cool as those features are, KITT's amazing ability to propel himself over or through various road obstacles (walls, cars, cardboard boxes), and David Hasselhoff always looking behind as if he couldn't believe they made it, made every episode better than it should have been. TURBO BOOST has to be a feature or it's not KNIGHT RIDER.

Yes there was a Knightrider 200 too, but it was shockingly awful and kit spent most of the movie as a piece of junk on the passenger seat of Michaels Cadillac or something. The red car was a new KITT (KITT 2500?) that KITT was installed into right at the end of the film. Don't remember too much as it was years ago I saw it and vowed to never see it again!

    Knight Rider 2010 was

    by tristeele

a pilot for UPN back in 1994. They did the original pilot movies of Babylon 5 and Hercules - The Legendary Journeys. Those shows made it on the air as series. Many other attempts failed. Midnight Run had 4 pilot movies. The Bandit (from Smokey and the Bandit) had 4 pilot movies. A few other shows had pilots movies as well. Knight Rider 2010 had the one only. It was a post nuke world concept. The car was a female. The pilot was horrendous. I have a shit copy some were around here on VHS with it. I'm probably the only person in the world who actually has a copy of it. That is not a complement to myself. It makes me a complete jackass I realize. Why do I collect all this scifi tv crap.

one great moment. That is when Michael Karate kicks this dude in the mouth. Besides that its like Magnius said. AWFUL. Kitt as a car (and boat) is in about the final 10 minutes of it. Horrible story, costumes, acting, sets and that early 90's really really shitty "special effects". But Michael does get in one good flying leg kick!

    Solar Powered Hybrid?

    by redshirt

Jesus H Christ, that totally pussifies this car. Yeah, I get that they are making a statement, but they probably use more gas to film one episode than I use in an entire year. I am so damn tired of all this eco hypocrisy, like that stupid monday night football game when they had candles burning on the stage. Probably saved .1% of their typical power, which was completely offset by a christmas game that had the stage ablaze with color, using 10% more than usual. Whoa sorry for such OT comments. Solar powered hybrid indeed. Should have at least been biodiesel. They could have showed him filling up pumping out the fry vat at McDonalds.

Not going to be much good for pot holes or going off-road then, better hope the criminals don't escape up any dirt tracks... then again the car isn't very good anyway. Why couldn't they have used a good car instead of taking Ford's marketing money?

    Infrared Nightvision is not redundant

    by vergil

You can have one, or the other. Or both. Nightvision generally magnifies low ambient visible light, but infrared detects (you guessed it) infrared light. Infrared can also emit infrared (like the light on a coal miner's cap) for really good views. It may not be the proper name, but it's not redundant.

within the confines of the plot, the original KITT could do 300 miles and hour! who gives a shit if the new one's got 550hp. The original had a turbine engine! I wish they would actually watch the show they're trying to ripoff.

Maybe I shouldn't get all "cranky fan boy" over silly old Night

    by royston lodge

The choice of car MAKES A DIFFERENCE! I HATE that the new KITT is a Mustang. I HATED that the Knight 4000 in Night Rider 2000 was a Dodge Stealth, albeit customized to look like a Pontiac Banshee. Heck, the one part of Transformers I hated was when Bumblebee transformed into the "New Camaro", because it really DID change the flavour of the character! It may just be Knight Rider, and seem unimportant, but if you treat cheeseball movies/tv shows with respect you end up with a much better product. Too many have done it badly (The Avengers, anybody?) Transformers proved it can be done, even if it didn't QUITE get it right. It shouldn't be impossible to remake Knight Rider without falling on your face. The show is ABOUT THE CAR, so the choice of car is of paramount importance. KITT is NOT a Mustang.
