AICN Exclusive: Check out how gnarly Bill Moseley looks in that Untitled Army Horror flick!

Published at:  Jan 08, 2008 4:43:52 AM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I've talked about this project, still UNTITLED, on this site. It has an interesting director (Jason Connery, son of Bond) and an interesting cast (including Ron Perlman, Ray Winstone, Cuba Gooding Jr., Henry Rollins, Jason London, Taryn Manning and Bill Moseley).

It's a horror flick about a squad of elite soldiers who are put upon a mission to rescue a scientist from an underground laboratory... of course, they encounter an ageless evil.

Although nobody knows the title, I can give you a glimpse at the horrors waiting for the soldiers... in the form of Bill Moseley (good ol' Chop Top himself). Enjoy!

Looks a little EVENT HORIZON (in a good way) and a little EXORCIST 3 to me (also in a good way). What do you folks think?

    by docpazuzu

I waited until I had both Dominion and Beginning on DVD. I wanted to watch them back-to-back for maximum effect. My plan was to watch Dominion first, to enjoy a good movie, and Beginning last just to savor the tasteless stupidity of the studio.

Dominion turned out to suck the chrome from a trailer hook. It was so bad that I actually dreaded seeing Beginning, having heard how awful it was.

    Guess what?

Beginning was every bit as tasteless and stupid as I expected, but it was much more enjoyable to watch. Dominion was simply heinous in every regard, whereas Beginning was an enjoyably shitty six-pack cheesefest.

You tend to be generally right about this stuff. BTW I watched Slither for the first time, and it isn't enjoyably shit. It's just shit. Goes to prove what an absolute cunt memories is. He tries to name an enjoyable cheesefest and manages to pick a high-production value oad of rectal discharge. It makes me want to slap him. In other news: Linda Blair needs more work. Both Dominion and The Beginning are excellent. Dominion moreso, but they both have their plus and minuses. Seeing them together makes the most sense, and gives the feel of a biblical tale, with different viewpoints of the same story. Unlike Doc Pazuzu, I recommend watching The Beginning first.

Both sucked so hard it hurt. Why is so hard to make a decent devil possesed movie? You would think the formula was layed out by that little film that came out in 1973 with Linda Blair.

It wasn't the shitfest I'd been led to expect. Silly, not very frightening but watchable. The main thing it lacks is any sense of atmosphere and the ending is a silly demon smack down. Why would something evil enough to kill when it's strapped to a bed decided to run about like a crack addict for ten minutes. Oh and Untitled Army Horror Flick looks all too familiar.

I agree completely, Jarv. I'd been hearing so many good things about it, such as it being a true-blue throwback to 80s carnage, but it was complete crap - in all the bad ways.

I do recommend seeing both Dominion and Beginning, if for no other reason than the surreal experience of seeing two different versions of the "same" movie. It doesn't really matter in what order, but I'd be interested to hear what you think of Dominion.

I was going to say that. Anyway, perhaps the soldiers find that the scientist actually has opened a portal to the Comfortable Chair Dimension, and it was so comfortable, that the scientist was driven insane.

Why all the hate? because it sucks. and Anchorite- you've gone off the rails with your increasingly hysterical "Hollywood hates America" stance that you have been polluting every TB with. Now if you had been spreading the word about Bears, Crappy films, Warwick Davies, or Faming Leg Kicks that would have been completely logical well balanced behaviour.

being kind, however with a cast like that I'll have to see it. Although last time I saw a movie just for Ron Perlman I got hosed. I think it was called the Woodcutter (it went through at least 1 title change). It had Danny Glover, Linda Hamilton, and I figured it would be a good drama. It just dragged in the worst way. I love the actors, but I was truly disappointed.

had to jump on the bandwagon.
But seriously, these plots are flawed simply because you've got an armed group of trained elites against some braindead monster things. Really, it should be no contest, but they alllllllllways have to run out of ammo at a critical moment. Then they panic and forget their elite training. What a bunch of bullshit.

    Jason Connery was Robin Hood

    by pumaman

He replaced the far superior Michael Praed in the 3rd season of Robin of Sherwood, also starring coincidentally, Ray Winstone, as Will Scarlett.

PS, Exorcist III is one of the downright creepiest movies ever made . If you haven't ever seen it, I highly recommend you do.

This one is a likely candidate--

for Lionsgate (direct-to-video). Personally, I enjoyed EVENT HORIZON (Lovecraft in outer space) until it sunk into a HELLRAISER facsimile; there were so many possibilities (hellish recordings of the MIA space vessel) that just weren't explored. Wonder if it was fucked-up in post-production?
