Clips from IN BRUGES...

Published at:  Jan 02, 2008 4:52:39 PM CST

Hey folks, Harry here... Got sent this from Focus Features - IN BRUGES looks interesting - I like the cast... Colin Farrell gets a lot of crap, but I like him on film - but joining him is Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes - making this a very interesting cast. The clips look cool - let's see how this plays out...

Please note that the official site for the film is: http://www.filminfocus.com/inbruges

Focus Features has released some info that you might find helpful (or, at least, Brugeian);

Pronunciation: “broozh” (rhymes with “rouge”)

Bruges is known for its lace and chocolate (these are best enjoyed together)

Tony Parker of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs was born in Bruges but raised in France (and now lives in the U.S. with wife Eva Longoria Parker)

Arch-fiend Doctor Evil, from the Austin Powers movie series, is also rumored to be from Bruges

Several beers are named after Bruges; Brugge Blond, Brugge Tripel, Brugs, Brugse Straffe Hendrik, and Brugse Zot (there may be more, but we passed out after the Zot)

Bruges is known as the "Venice of the North" because of its many canals.

    Focus Features on a roll

    by manikman

    They're definitely one of my favourite studios. Eastern Promises was one of the best films of last year and this looks like a fun little flick, after which they got an Amy Adams vehicle with Fran Mcdormand, can't wait to see that and this. Oh yeah and, plant!!!!

    I don't feel like watching those clips

    by cherryvalance

    but the film looked interesting from the trailer. If it comes out where I live, I'll see it. I still think Farrell should get more credit for 'The New World' and 'A Home at the End of the World'. He's a good actor. Looks like he might be funny too.

    and I'm pretty psyched about LOST too. That one site reminds me of JK Rowling's desk on her site, where she used to leave clues about the Potter books.

    McDonagh=Badass

    by deadflower

    There is an lack of
    excitement about In Bruges that I think should be addressed. The problem is nobody knows who Martin McDonagh is and if they did they'd be a lot more excited about this flick. For those of interested check his play The Lieutenant of Innishmoore or his Oscar winning short film Six Shooter (also with Brendan Gleeson). I thinks he is hysterical and I can't wait for this movie.

    Bruges is...

    by simhedges

    1. A beautiful city - go and visit it if you can.
    2. A top short-break tourist destination for people in the UK.
    3. Not where the zoom at the start of the clips implies that it is. If it were, then the movie would be called "In Luxembourg". But don't worry, they're only out by a few hundred miles and a country or two. In fact, Bruges (called Brugge by the locals) is within about 10 miles of the Belgian coast.

    Mike Myers

    by emeraldboy

    Is from Liverpool. He is a scouser, I am old enough, to remember mike myers big break on TV. It was called the wide awake club.Myers then had a comedy partner called Neil Mullarkey and their bit was the sound assleep club. Nobody had any idea that Mike myers would be as big as he has become. Probably working with Timmy Mallet is enough to make you leave the country.
