It makes sense in the context of the scene. Superman has only just walked into the room and the gunwomen are reacting on reflex. I'm really pleased with these. Looks like a lot of the important scenes will be kept in.

    I love this comic.

    by toshiro-solo

Bought the oversized Absolute Edition, and it might be my favorite of all of the Absolutes they've put out, just because it's about the only one that's not absolutely considered a part of the graphic novel canon (i.e. Watchmen or DKR or Sandman, although all of those are great too). I have high hopes for this. That said, this is a WHOLE lotta story to pack into 90 or so minutes. It's also a whole lotta DC history to delve into for the uninitiated. I'd call myself a pretty solid fanboy, and this schooled me quite a bit. It could be a tricky transition, but if pulled off well (and - so far so good from the looks of things), it should be excellent.

    Marvel Ultimate Alliance animation...

    by zerocorpse

I want to know why nobody has made an animated feature - DC or Marvel- using the animation team who did the Intro cinema for Marvel Ultimate Alliance. That was spot-on, perfect animation. Yes, it was CGI, but it was GOOD CGI, and it caught the characters in ways that live action never could, while still maintaining some realism (seams on costumes, sweat, etc.)
PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one thinking this animation team would make one kick-ass feature film for Marvel or DC if given a chance. Have Peter David & J. Michael Straczynski write the screenplay, and grab some UNKNOWN actors to play the voices, and then use this team to animate the fuck out of it. It would be a HUGE hit... Especially if they went with Marvel's current trend of saying 'Fuck the Comics Code" and making their comics PG-13 or R-rated.

    I agree, ZeroCorpse...

    by stone cold killa

with the concept if not the details. David and Straczynski? Ugh. The CGI in MUA was pretty great, most notably the intro and the Galactus stuff. Maybe the only way to make good comic books films is to make them animated/CGI?

The comic's about the transition between the Golden Age and the Silver Age, so Superman starts with his old costume, and at the end, he's got the more modern one.

    by burgundy82

Haven't read it in awhile so I'm not 100 percent on this, but I believe that since the two-volume epic unfolds over several years, a few of the central characters undergo costume changes throughout. The "ears" on Batman's cowl get smaller, Superman's chestplate changes, etc. Let me know if I'm wrong, somebody. As for the animation, it's a pretty dead-on match for Cooke's art style, which isn't really surprising, considering he used to storyboard for Dini...

    by laserpants

where Jonzz Jonzz is watching tv to learn about earth culture and morphs into various characters, among them Bugs Bunny! Also, I wish Marvel would make a good animation one of these days. DC is kicking their ass in the animation department. JLU is phenomenally awesome imho.

    Ultimate Alliance

    by waggy

totally agree. the animation in that game was awesome, and was one of my favorite parts of the game (but i'm not one of those geeks like the ones who play final fantasy just to watch the animated scenes). i thought it looked almost as good as beowulf and surely cost much much less. spidey in particular looked better than he did in any of the movies (and this from a big fan of the first 2).

i'm sure if i knew what to look for, i could see how much more advanced beowulf was than ultimate alliance. i'm just sayin that to the untrained eye, they looked about even.

Ultimate Alliance another good reason to go CGI

    by stalkeye

yeah, I have been saying the same thing for over a year as CGI is the way to go in regards to animation not just becuase of marvel Ultimate alliance, but especially after watching Final Fantasy the Advent Children (my friend hates RPGs, but put all skepticism aside after watching this. I still like the traditional hand drawn stuff especially when it comes to Anime, but CGI is a good change of pace. Looking forward to the new frontier, however a Kingdom Come OVA would own all comic animated movies.

She has no intention of shooting Superman. She merely wanted him to see the barrel.Btw, Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a win. Sell me a Kingdom Come movie in that style, and you will see $30 cash on the Tuesday release date of your choosing.
