EXCLUSIVE: TNT's promotional art for "Crusade" ((includes large image)) !!!
Glen here...
...happy to present what must be the most annoying file ever received by Coaxial. This thing
just plain sucked. This file did things I've never seen image files do - every step of the way if fought
me...resisted me...taunted me. It simply did not want to be posted. But that's why it was sent to me
in the first place...to be posted on Coaxial....and I wasn't going to go down that easily.
Actually, I gave up rather quickly - sending this little bundle o' despair to our crack team of
AICN techheads. It beat them, too. This file has, literally, been all over the globe in our effort to
circumvent it's wicked, wicked properties. It took weeks!
FINALLY, a woman with balls of steel (ummm...maybe nerves of steel?) simply refused to give
up. I'm more inclined to think she just got lucky - but to quote The Color of Money: "For
some, luck is an art."
So, without further delay, the World Premiere of the artwork TNT will use to advertise
the Babylon 5 spin-off series Crusade in various printed media. The process of
beating the file to submission resulted in some slight color imbalance (for example: the evening sky is
actually somewhat turquoise on the source image), but this is a surprisingly good representation of
the promotional artwork considering all the difficulties we had.
elsewhere (on other sites, for example), but please credit myself (Glen Oliver) or this site (Aint It Cool News)when doing
so...

No, I don't know why these characters are referred to as "Rangers" on this artwork when they are not Rangers (in the B5 sense) in the
series...
Matters Miscellaneous
** For those who have been asking about Babylon 5 being removed from TNT's
broadcast line-up in early May, YES - it's happening. I am told The Powers That Be at TNT are
removing the program from TNT's schedule while they try to find a better place to schedule the
show, and that B5 is expected to return at a later date.
Whatever.
** Babylon 5's closing episode ("Sleeping in Light") has been nominated for a Hugo
Award for Best Dramatic Presentation. This would be a much more notable triumph, 'cept for the
same people who nominated "Sleeping in Light" chose to nominate the excessively lame Star
Trek: Insurrection as well, and with a thought process like that...
** Sonic Images will be releasing Christopher Franke's nutty (but cool) score for the TNT TV
movie Babylon 5: River of Souls in late May (on or 'round the 18th, I believe).
** Finally, if anyone has the information about B5 & "The Bradbury Award", please
post it on the Talkbacks below - as I seem to have misplaced it at the moment.

"special limited series"....doohh....
-
Your tireless dedication is still appreciated....thanks for sacrificing so much of your time simply to accomodate the fennery. The art looks cool...it's a shame "Crusade"'s already being touted as a "special limited series"...
-
Yes, the exec at turner should die for not giving the Show a fucking chance. I really would hope someone picks this show up, but, like so many wonderful things that run into brick walls, I doubt it will happen. Still, we got all 5 season, and 4 cool movies (HEY I LIKED SEASON 5 AND THIRDSPACE AND RIVER OF SOULS). I imagine the TNT schedualers are "working day and night 24 hours a day, until the find the perfect spot for the show ", and then, once it is decide, then the remove it BASTARDS!
Still, we have what we have, and I am still first -
You know what I really, really want for my birthday? TSIA. Sonic Images had that little limited 200 disc release or somesuch.. when do we get the chance to pick it up again? I could honestly care less about the signatures.. I just want the music!
-
You CAN buy it, in fact I've had mine (non-autographed) for about a month now. But coincidentaly you can right now (unless it just sold out) order a new limited edition version with Bruce Boxlietner and Christopher Franke's autographs on them (as opposed to the JMS/CF one that was out last month). It's limited to 200. Happy B-Day.
Concerning Crusade:
"Special Limited Series" my ass...
-
I *REALLY* *NEED* some good sci-fi right now. The Outer Limits has just run through it's weekly strip (It is run in sindication in Montreal 5 days a week until all the syndicated episodes are cycled through and then is replaced with another show(Traders then Psi Factor, then back to Outer Limits). With NO good sci-fi out there, I am desperate to see Crusade. JMS don't fail me now...
-
I love the outer limits but it seems to be getting too predictable as of late. Hopefully the last few episodes of DS9 will hold us over until TPM gets here.

"J. Michael Straczynski will receive the Ray Bradbury Award for Dramatic Screenwriting, given by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. The award was founded by SFWA president Ben Bova in 1992 and given only once before, to writer/director James Cameron for his work on Terminator 2.
The award will honor JMS' work on B5, which SFWA called "one of the most imaginative and influential science fiction television shows in years." JMS will accept the award at the Nebula Awards Ceremony, held May 1 in Pittsburgh, PA."

Hope this is what you wanted

nice graphics but the message sucks. The message should be something like:
"Earth on the brink of extinction,
an alien race left unchecked, and
Earth's last hope lies with a determined crew and a top secret ship: Excalibar"
CRUSADE
"Join the crew of the Excalibar to
find a cure for earth and vist new civilizations and ancient races billions of years old." -
Like a spoiled child quickly bored with a toy, TNT casts off Babylon 5, breaking their pledge to show the entire 5 year run starting in March. Anyone remember that? 4pm EST is a bit early in Burlington, Vermont, so I favor a time change...but do any fans of B5 trust TNT at this point? I don't. The network is tired of the show, they've lost interest. Not enough sex. Takes too long to get to the good violence. Whatever.
For my part, I'm glad TNT picked up B5. I was a hardcore SF fan who had heard of the show, seen a couple episodes only to be horribly lost (Knives and one of the post Z'ha'dum episodes, if I recall...), and a TNT ad in Entertainment Weekly caught my eye...full insert...wish I saved it! I watched In the Beginning and was hooked, fell in deep, and am now forever a fan of the world JMS created...so I thank TNT, for what they have done. But I hate them for what they are doing. Incidently, I just got the sci-fi channel...they could use some real sci-fi...what the !@#$%^&* is this Sliders schwag? -
The blurb could've read "The Renegade Wrestlers" instead. Its obvious that whoever wrote that didn't know what he/she was doing or cared.
Talk about euphemisms and double-talk..."limited series." I need a Pepto-Bismol cocktail stat!
What's even cuter is that there is no mention whatsoever about its connection to the B5 universe. Limited indeed... -
Renegade rangers? I don't remember them being outlaws. I actually seem to remember them being very officially sanctioned by the President. Goddammit, I'm nitpicking an ad. I promised myself I would never do that. But while I'm at it: a special limited series? Ouch. I wish they'd have the nuts to just say: "A SHOW WE'VE CANNED IN ADVANCE."

Glen, in your article you said...
** Babylon 5's closing episode ("Sleeping in Light") has been nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation. This would be a much more notable triumph,'cept for the same people who nominated "Sleeping in Light"
chose to nominate the excessively lame Star Trek: Insurrection as well, and with a thought process like that..."
The "same people"? The Hugo nomination process allows members to nominate five entries in the category. Your assumption that each individual member nominated both SIL and ST is not necessarily correct.
FYI, my ballot card had 4 of the 5 nominated presentations, but DID NOT nominate "Star Trek: Insurrection". If ST made the cut, it wasn't because this "same person" nominated it along with SIL.

DS9 shows at 10PM Wednesdays here in VA. I'm pretty sure the last episode is 7/2. The very next week Crusade starts in the same time slot, different channel. No conflicts! I'm happy but my wife is going to be pissed.
-
I suspect they may be using the concept of one of my suggestions, moving B5 to an early morning slot in the place of one of the CHIPS showings. This would make it easier for more people to watch while getting ready for work.
-
man you people will whine about anything. want some CHEESE with that??? You want some REAL sci/fi? oh poor babies...My heart bleeds for your pittied souls..."what is this SLiders crap?" SLIDERS: a good decent show thats been around for over FIVE years, where the hell have YOU been? oh there isnt any REAL sci/fi on TV..oh oh oh...be still my beating heart, WHAT THE HELL ARE FARSCAPE and X-FILES and POLTERGEIST and VOYAGER YOU MORON???? You people DESERVE the insult "A special Limited series" You DESERVE the Insult "Renegade Rangers" HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! You know what KILLED Crusade? YOU DID!!!! "there isnt any real sci/fi on TV" whining BUTTHOLES like you!!!!! STINKING FANBOY "head-up-your-BUTT" LAME IGNORANT STUPID WHINING FANBOYS LIKE YOU!!!!! STOP WHINING AND smile as YOU record all the 13 episodes of Crusades "special Limited series" (with no conclusion) .....ok I got viciously cut off in traffic this morning and am just a bitter, angry person.I'll be ok tommorow. :OP -McK
-
Now, I won't be as... ahem... vocal as "Phil", but I did want to comment on the fact that their is fabulous sci-fi on. I'm a huge B5 fan, and was deeply saddened (well... I think pissed is more appropriate) to hear about Crusade, but no good sci-fi? DS9 has gotten phenomenal since picking up JMS's idea of the arc show, and the few Voyager episodes I have been able to see were original. You also have the semi sci-fi shows The X-Files and Buffy, probably the two best written shows on television. Also, for those really trying to stretch, Herc and Xena are still as good as during the Dahak storylines. And probably the best sci-fi show on right now is the most underrated. I'm talking about Earth: Final Conflict. No one seems to be tlaking about this show, but I just can't get enough of it. The arc is reminiscient of JMS, with even tighter continuity. And another similarity? The main character was replaced by an even better character!
-
I also am a fan of the show, but season 2 is proving to be its downfall. The mystery is gone and they are turning it into trek by having new technology ep discovery each week. They didn't do that in the first season and thats why it was strong along with a great lead character (William Boone). Liam Kincaid had potential but has never capitalized on it and the audience doesn't have a connection to him, basically meaning if they held at a life and death situation at the end of the season, most of us will be happy to see him gutted. Hope the future of efc will be better.
-
Well first thing LOL@The Angry Local, now if he starts talking with Barrie's accent, I am going to stop watching it. The second things is the artwork, it cool looking, and the message. I don't like the first part "Regane Ranger"? Come on Sheridan give his offical word to the mission so they aren't going agasint the law. This is a legal mission. The second part of the message, is right I find that it right, I forget what it is, what it has something to do with "We are all histroy" or something like that. The Limited Series, that is nothing but crap, it was why to get viewer ship to TNT.

by dolfanar
I repeat: No ***GOOD*** Sci-Fi.
-
Dolfanar you have such a twisted sense of what you consider "good" quality sci/fi programming that your willing to 1) piss off every single sci/fi program on television (in reruns AND NEW episodes!) over and over and over and 2) praise a show that HASNT EVEN AIRED YET!!! you ARE HOPELESS, MAN! YOU ARE TRUELY A DERANGED PSYCHO!!!! All you live for is Babylon 5 and JMS and CRUSADE and thats it!?!?!?! JMS is God and Dolfanar is his biggest fan[BOY!!!] I'm actually glad I'm NOT a Nelson family veiwer, so when I tape these 13 episodes, NO ONE WILL CARE!!!! Dolfanar, your beautiful "perfect" sci/fi show is DEAD!!! JMS is going into obscurity to direct made for TV after school specials!! Peter Jurasik and Jerry Doyle are moving to SLIDERS NEXT SEASON!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Why dont you expand your horizons just a WEE TAD BIT and start appreciating what sci/fi in on TV now or go AWAY into obscurity!!! Your opinions are yours and yours alone... no one else on this planet would bash every single sci/fi show on television like you do. Hey I actually watched the last 25 minutes of Star Trek Deep Space Nine last night, I watched as the Defiant got blown to smitherines AND I LIKED IT!!! (SISKO STILL SUCKS though!!!)
AAAAAAAAAAARRGGGGGGGGHH!!!!!! -
Anyone notice the "cruSade" logo looks suspiciously just like the "farScape" logo?
