Insane. That’s just an insane image.

I love that trailer more than I love pizza.

That’s fucking love. Seriously.

Check this out:

Yo, Moriarty!

This is BORBS, from Brazilian website Judão (www.judao.com.br)!

By bombarding the public with joker images they are forcing people to get used to this character design. It's working on me, I'll admit. I was unsure at first but now I'm excited about every new image. With repetition comes acceptance and I'm all for it. (Though, it's valid to say I've been a bit brainwashed, I suppose... Eh. I'm okay with that.) People are complaining about the viral marketing getting to be too much but I'm pretty sure they're just jealous that they haven't gotten anything yet. I love it all!

Yes, Photoshop is the industry standard and that's probably what they used to make this and everything else. Just because we live in an age where you jerkoffs can have it on your home computers doesn't make you special for pointing it out. Just because you know what a layer is, doesn't mean you could make anything the industry would give a second look at.

The Batman Poster for The Dark Knight

    by guyver1138

I think that the Batman poster for the new film is heavily flawed. It's a nice concept and well done other than the fact that he's standing in front of a support post and based on the size of his head in comparison to the width of the post that's what he would be looking at. If he is looking out over the city the inclination would be to look out a window not at a post in the middle of your vision and windows on either side.

I respect your opinion, but maybe you haven't heard of a little thing called depth perception. It doesn't matter if Bats' head is right in the middle of the support post (and just for the record, it's more to the left than smack in the center) as long as he is a couple of feet or even just a few inches back away from the post. Because maybe you didn't know this but Batman is not a cyclops. He has 2 eyes, which give him his depth perception, and thus he can stand in that position and still look out upon the city.

YOu fuckers are complaining about photoshop???

    by johnno

On a fucking purposely stylized image??? Obviously none of you know shit all about commercial art... because sometimes the artist will make decisions about cropping the image or scaling the picture, not so that it looks proper perspectively or proportionally, or even that it realistically blends into the background, but so that it can stand out and look BETTER and attract someone's attention while delivering the idea!!! If you're complaining about that poster you are obviously desperately looking for shit to complain about! What next? The Batman anime is looking too animated??? You think paintings of the cast's faces or batman all over the place will look more real? Well soemtimes it could, but I bet you'd get the same result anyway! And for the old men complaining about lack of painted posters... what? Would you like films to go back to technicolour or shitty black and white? I'd personally like all CG animation to go back to hand drawn and painted cells! Maybe Batman should be a musical too! Please paint something like maybe a badass mural and submit it and we'll see which one we like better...

    Kudos on Shooting in Chicago!

    by ahopefullfanboy

Good for Nolan for not going cheap and shooting in Vancouver or some B.S. Growing up in Chicago I always imagined seeing Batman skulking around the alleys, leaping from rooftops, etc. And now Nolan has brought my childhood imagination to the big screen. Seeing the Joker standing on LaSalle street looking north (that’s the Lake street “L” in the background) rocks more than I can imagine. Anybody else who lives in or is from Chicago likely feels the same way. Further, I’d go so far as to propose that any city is ostensibly a “brand” and that if someboduy wants to shoot a film that’s “based” in that city they should have to film it there or be prohibited from mentioning it’s name. Granted, this is Gotham (which I have NO IDEA where it’s actually supposed to be – anybody ever see a map of America in the DC universe?) but even so. You wanna shoot a film that takes place in Chicago? You pony up and SHOOT it in Chicago.

    Hey mask

    by ebonic_plague

You want to see a great, painted, realistically stylized Batman? Well I'm not sure if you knew this, but Batman had a small run of comic books that he starred in, some of those have pretty good art, you may want to check them out. Then maybe you won't feel so gipped by a movie poster featuring photographs of actual actors in costume who are acting in a live action movie about Batman, and then maybe, possibly, you will then shut up about a lack of painted Batman in the movie poster. Drew Struzan art works for Indy, but for Batman, it would be contrary to the whole real world tone Nolan is going for.

Alex Ross would be perfect... for a comic book cover

    by ebonic_plague

I like Ross' work too. But, as you say, Batman BEGAN in the world of comics, and now he's transitioning into the world of live action film... so isn't it appropriate that the poster reflects that real-world tone instead of playing up the pulp comics style that we already have seen a million times? I've seen Ross' Batman before, many, many times, I'm glad they're not getting him for any promotional material for this movie, it'd be too trite, like getting the trailer voice guy to do his "In a world, one man, against incredible odds" cliche for the trailer. You guys act like this is floating head quality poster design... it's just bitching for the sake of bitching.

    Cost cutting

    by zoefan

The studio feels they are getting the same product (Photoshop vs. Non-computer artist), therefore they will go with the cheaper option. I understand your frustration. When I was younger, I spent years learning and reading everything I could about photography (film photography, not digital). Then the world went digital and I was left behind in the dust. To this day, I feel digital photography is less of an art, but that's only because digital photography is less hands on and I put SO much time into film photography, so I'm bitter. One of my instructors put it best when he said being excellent in Photoshop is as much a skill as it is a skill to be good at dodging and burning (a technique used in B&W photography). Just because Photoshop is quicker and easier doesn't make you less of an artist. It's just a more technological version of art.

Is technically supposed to be on the east coast, that's how the government separated all ties with it in "No Man's Land," they literally separated the city from the rest of the country. A few of my personal favorites:

    WHY SO PHOTOSHOPPED?
    by mask-a-tron
-Very good pipple and mask-a-tron, You've identified that photoshop was used in the making of this poster. Show me a poster made this decade that didn't use some form of digital correction, and I will gladly come to your house and punch you in the stomach for actually looking for one.
just show the Jokers stupid face
    by Spazatronic 2000
Sure, why wait for themovie to see the guys face. It's not like movies are built on 'suspense' or 'mystery' or anything like that. Here's an idea, how about a poster of Nolan holding a spoon with all your hopes and wishes, ready to feed your impatient face.

    TOO PURPLE!!!!!!
    by ludmir88

If that's not supposed to be a joke, then I don't know what is.

The Batman Poster for The Dark Knight

I think that the Batman poster for the new film is heavily flawed. It's a nice concept and well done other than the fact that he's standing in front of a support post and based on the size of his head in comparison to the width of the post that's what he would be looking at. If he is looking out over the city the inclination would be to look out a window not at a post in the middle of your vision and windows on either side.

I am so glad that70'svenom said something first, because man, you got problems. And i don't mean the sexually transmitted kind.

Honestly, narrow minded individuals like yourself are what keep the girls lusting after men who would rather cheat on them than read a comic book. Sometimes I'm really embarrased to be lumped in with you few knuckleheads. But, you guys are entitled to your opinions as much as I am. No matter how jaded, inarticulate, and just plain ignorant your opinions may be. I may not agree with your opinions, but I'll defend your right to say it. Douches.

    by riddleman1674

And three ridiculous sequels (not including BB) FINALLY they get it right!! Mr. Ledger, that Brokeback shit is forgiven. The trailer was amazing, can't wait to see it on the big screen, these two Joker posters are as they should be, fucking genius! To every asshole that has anything to whine about over this poster or anything else about this project....WHY SO SERIOUS??

Preach on brotha!!! I think the majority of people on this talk back circuit that have their shit together FAR outweigh the fucking crybabies here, but hey, it wouldn't be a fun debate if everyone here had an intelligent criticism, haha. ;) Bitching about a joker jacket being to purple is just effin comedy!

ZZZZZZ? Dude common, seriously,...Iron Man? Don't get me wrong, the trailer looks decent but it smells like a Ghost Rider skid mark. Goddamn one liners and unnecessary humor need to be toned down with these types of movies. I understand the fun factor has to be there, but when you try to be to light hearted and colorful with characters that otherwise shouldn't be, you end up with uber-gay grown inducing unfunny garbage and wasted time and money. Haven't they learned any lessons by now from the Schumaker holocaust of the late 90's? After that pile of rotton steaming unmentionable film stock shit that was put out in the Summer of 1997, there should have been no going back to any light hearted bullshit. Batman Begins, X-Men 2, Spider-Man 2, Blade all worked and it was evident why. Then they got lazy again. Hence Spider-Man 3, X-Men III, Elektra, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, etc etc... One example of many would be : Let's go back to the more "light hearted" style now and have Peter Parker doing goddamned pointless jazz numbers. If I had could write a novel on talk back and had three extra hours then I'd love to break down each of these movies, but you get the picture. Point being, at least with this one, a poster doesn't say anything about how this movie is going to be. Yeah it will have humor, hence the joker, but done in a very crafty way and much more maniacal that was lacking from the 89 Nicholson Joker. On the money.....Nuff said'

Weird though. I mean, that poster seems to contradict the Joker image we've been given so far.

Also, thanks for the polite tone. I've heard lots of bad things about AICN Talkback, and I'm glas I've heard wrong.
