ABC Dumps BIG SHOTS!! CBS Keeps AMAZING RACE!!

Published at:  Dec 11, 2007 12:41:13 AM CST

I am – Hercules!!

“Big Shots,” the horrible horrible desperate-husbands dramedy starring Michael Vartan and Dylan McDermott, has been bumped from ABC’s post-“Grey’s Anatomy” Thursday timeslot. Replacing “Shots” – which still has three new episodes in the can that may or may not find their way to air – will be repeats of the “Grey’s” spinoff “Private Practice,” effective this Thursday. Read all of The Hollywood Reporter’s story on the matter here.

“The Amazing Race,” which appears to have come close to cancellation a number of times over its long history, has meanwhile received an order for a post-Vyxsin 13th season from CBS. Read all of Variety’s story on the matter here.

    Big Shots

    by ted brautigan

You know a show is bad if they're not even gonna run new eps they have in the can during a strike. I gave this five minutes of my time once, can't believe I'm wasting more of my life writing about it.

I liked The Amazing Race, but

with football constantly running over the schedule and pushing TAR's air time back, it's a PITA to record it and other shows; it's not so good that it's worth the hassle.

hasn't Amazing Race done fairly well in the ratings since its first couple of seasons? Was anyone expecting this show to get cancelled?

    Amazing Race

    by mel gibsteinberg

Is still better than all those new "reality" based tv game shows coming our way. The choir competition, huh? The dance team comp with the Dancing with the Stars judges, and all that other crap. At least Amazing Race goes to cool locations, and it isn't nearly as contrived as some of the other shows.

The camera work on Amazing Race & Survivor is often amazing, why don't they bother to fill up the screen with those pretty pictures?

Well, I will say this about "Big Shots":

    by lenny nero

It was better than "Cane." *shudder*

As a pop culture analyst (yes yes, scoff if you want, it pays the bills) I take it upon myself to watch every new network show for the last three seasons, even if it's terrible, to expand my understanding of ratings, phenomena and, most importantly, general public taste (which is more subtle and mature than most people make it out to be. You'd be amazed as how good and out-of-the-ordinary "Brothers & Sisters" is, for instance). "Big Shots" was one of the ones I dreaded watching, but still goddamn kept pressing on. It will not be missed.

I gave Big Shots 3 episodes until I gave up

    by big jim

I found it too contrived, and the characters, especially Mulroney's, to be too stupid to be credible. But his daughter was hot.I think I gave up on Private Practice after only 2 episodes, or 3 if you count the backdoor pilot on Grey's Anatomy last Spring. That one was ok, showed promise, but on its own I found it to be disingenuous.

Amazing... so a reality TV show and another crap show get a talkback, but one of the best shows on television continues to get snubbed around here. Why? There are many people around here who feel the same way...

Hendekea (the black girl) was SMOKING HOT!!

    by quantass

That brother/sister duo of Azaria and Hendekea were pretty good (came in first 3 times) before that shocking upset! Who'd a thunk! My mates and i were betting big they were going to win it all.

That sister is friggin' hot hot hot! And she's an aerospace engineer? No way someone that hot can be a Aerospace Engineer.

    What about Carpoolers?

    by lynxpro

Has ABC axed that dreadful program yet? It retroactively makes *Small Wonder* look like a quality production while causing permanent damange to both the space-time continuum and the retinas of all 10 viewers of the program.

    by series7

I watched Big Shots, I knew very well that it was going to be axed. It was horrible but I kept coming back. I have no real reason, just like watching a horse beat to death. It was better then Bionic Women, it wasn't half as boring as that show was. Is that show cancelled yet?

    Bionic Woman

    by jbs0209

I hear there will be an episode of the Sarah Connor Chronicles where they send a terminator back in time to cancel Bionic Woman before it even gets approved.
Now that is concept I could get behind.

Carpoolers is significantly worse than Cavemen

    by inwosuxred

I like Bruce, and I saw Scott Thompson in an episode, I like Jeremy Minor, but even still, this is a baaad show. The worst thing about it is how much talent seems to be involved. You expect Cavemen to suck, so if you even get a half laugh out of an episode, you feel like Cavemen accomplished something.

Skywalkerfamily, it's actually the other way around.

    by lenny nero

The emo kids who hate the world are poseur goths who know nothing of the history of the movement nor what they actually stand for and instead substitute bitchy, dark behavior and black clothes for an actual ideological conceit. Kynt and Vyxen are actually much closer to the real thing.

K&V are much more tolerable than the whiny girlfriends they picked for this season. The meltdowns every time things seemingly don't go their way are tiresome. SMACK!

I just couldn't identify with any of the guys on the show

    by han cholo

I think Michael Vartan is a good actor and deserves better roles than this. Homeboy should be making movies in my opinion.

The whole premise of the show is a bunch of rich guys who have problems. I'm sorry but if I was rich and shit, I wouldn't have so much drama in my life. It was just a lame show that had nowhere to go because no one could identify with any of the characters.
