PUNISHER 2 gets its first still on the intertubes!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I don't have an automatic hate-on for the PUNISHER sequel. As much as I liked Tom Jane in the role, I am no fan of the first movie, so I don't think there's anywhere to go but up from there. Maybe I'll eat crow and realize how great the first one was only after seeing the redux/sequel, but I have a little hope.
That said, I think they should have picked their first released image with a little more care. One talkbacker already pointed out in another thread that it kinda looks like Steven Seagal as Punisher and since then I haven't been able to look at the picture without seeing Vern's favorite movie star.
Congrats to SuperHeroHype for getting the image!!!

This blows. Where's Tom Jane when you need him??
-
top two posters are dead on. That IS Segal.
-
First?
-
looks like the look was adapted from the MAX series. I'll give it a shot
-
Thomas Jane's career is going nowhere but DOWN so he should never had stuck his nose up at the chance to play PUNSIHER again...such an IDIOT! This new PUNISHER: WARZONE movie is not going to make much money at all a la THE HITMAN! LIONSGATE should have given full creative control to SYLVESTER STALLONE to star and produce it into a violent piece of work telling Frank Castle's story as a 60+ year old PUNISHER! What could have been...
-
he looks like a Bradstreet picture come to life
-
WTF is he doing in the new Punisher movie???
-
Dude looks nothing like Seagal, yet in this picture you couldn't tell the difference.
-
Bend over and accept the truth.
-
you're not supposed to hold the banana clip. fail.
-
So is this going to be a sequel to the first film? Is Howard Saint still responsible for his family's murder? I also don't understand why Tom Jane turned the film down. How bad could the script possibly be? The early reviews of it were positive, and suggested a more traditional approach. Jane should've stuck around long enough to make the role his own.
-
As much as I liked Jane, I didn't like the Leone western they were going for in the first movie, and having seen a review of the first movie's director's concept and script for the sequal thank god they aren't making that POS. It began in the desert with and honest to god high noon drawfest for Christsakes. I think that Ray is going to be great as the new Pun. And any director that can film a functional kinetic action scene will do better than Hensleigh did on the first flick. I dig Lexi's stuff, she'll do Frank proud. Dominic West, has show he can be a perfect bastard in his flick, people cheered his death when I saw 300 in theaters, he'll be a damn sight better villan than John "Oh my Gah, I'm bein' a badguy" Travolta. And lets face it guys say what you will about the slicked back hair, anyone whose seen Rome knows Ray Stevenson can do batshit crazy or viciously fucking cold anyday of the week. He really is a great choice for the older, now emotionally dead Punisher.
-
the first two times. though I am a fan of dolphs.
-
You're 100% right about not holding the actual clip. You can do something stupid like pull the magazine out while your trying to kill your enemy. However you'll notice that the arm guard was retro-fitted with a pistol. It's Hollywood man! Sit back relax and watch the bullshit fly.
-
sylvester stallone would be sick. if he plays it completely serious.
-
that plus the M203 knock off under the barrel is a bad boy pistol grip you leave the fuck alone until you commit to fire the bitch.

I'm impressed, I left the Army in 2000 (1st ID baby) and at that time the M-4 was slowly being introduced to us overseas. I'm afraid I'm out-of-date on modern tactics.

Steven Seagal. It looks like Above the Law 2.

Hopefully well get a proper photo of the guy soon

I always thought Chuck Zito would have been an inspired choice for Frank Castle. He did a pretty good job while he was on Oz as Chucky Pancamo. Plus, he has that classic John Buscema face .
-
Bad picture, primarily because of the eery Seagal-ism, but Pullo was the man in Rome, and I think Ray will bring a good dynamic to the part. The simple fact that Travolta is not in this flick makes it potentially way better than the first.
-
gooolleee
-
How about mentioning the NAME of the ACTOR in your "ARTICLE" you genius. Ray Stevenson.... Way to go.
-
Segal. They led us down a false path because they knew we couldn't handle the truth. That they are gonna make the most godawfully spectacular pile of 80's throwback junk ever, and only Segal could fill the role out correctly.
-
I think the photo looks good, it has a gritty feel to it. Gritty is something the Jane film lacked and I think the casting of Stevenson and the NYC local are going to add a lot to this outing.
-
"Frank Castle needs some White Castle"
-
But DAMN that picture looks like Steven Segal.
-
me and my friend were discussing who should play the punisher and he said Ray Liotta and i said Steven Seagal would be fucking perfect.
-
So godddamned bad it makes me yearn to be tortured by a popsicle. Question: When Jane left, why didn't they immediately call up Christopher Lambert? I bet he's wondering the same thing, wherever he is...
-
Honestly, it looks just like him.
-
I wonder how many people actually saw that? I know a neighbor who said that was his first 'R' rated movie to see, mine was Wild Things (and I was 35).
-
Who the fuck gave ole' Stevie a bucket of twinkies, a cool skull shirt, and some used ebay bought prop gun from the first Under Siege and decided to use this as the Punisher sequel? Bravo studio fuckheads! Another bargain bin stocking stuffer for the five people who are going to actually give shit about this garbage!....MEH....fuck it, bring back Jane
-
No Flash for Ryan Reynolds so his schedule is looking wide open
-
hahah!
-
But they should have gone for Dolph Lundgren, and make it Punisher 20 years on, Dark Knight style. Another direct to DVD rental shelves...
-
Sans the skull shirt, he does a great job as Punisher. I wish he was hired to play him again. He freaked everything in that movie. Plus he was REALLY pissed off. Yea the plot was ass, Dolph made the movie.
-
no crybaby talk of why everything went wrong, no planning and plotting and popsickle torture. dolph would come up and shoot you a lot. he'd come out of the shadows and slit your throat, talking to God and kicking ass. THE GUILTY WILL BE PUNISHED.
-
Okay, firstly - whoever allowed this picture to be the first one out should be punished. That's NOT a photograph which inspires geeks to faint in excitement. You can't see the guy's face and that's what people need. We need to be able to see the full look of The Punisher in this movie.<p>Secondly - I know next to nothing about Ray Stevenson. I've looked up some pictures on Google and I can't decide if he's going to look right as Frank or not. I've been told that he's pretty badass in ROME but I'm worried about whether he can pull off the accent. One of the things which worked for me about the Thomas Jane version was the voice. He sounded EXACTLY like how I imagined The Punisher to speak when I read the comic.<p>I'm giving this the benefit of the doubt at the moment until I see either more photos or a trailer.
-
Where are you Ken? Take a break from your Barbie Twin wife and make some movies again.
-
I have no doubts whatsoever about Ray. It's everyone else I fear.
-

And in the third reboot, the Punisher will be played...
by JackPumpkinhead
...by Shia. By then, they will have written "hot new action star" in reference to him so many times people will actually believe it.
-
a srsly pudgy one. with chafing action.
-
period.
-
It's badass. Inspiring shot.
-
the game had janes voice, the marvel visuals and some seriously cool punishments.... to be honest if the people putting this movie together think we WANT to see a steven segal lookalike, then they dont know their audience.
-
What in Gods name have they done with the hair? They could have just kept the buzz cut the actor always had in Rome, and if a black dye job looked shit, as that pic proves, forget the black dye. For fucks sake.
-
Look what he did for the Leprechauns...made them into rhyming killers. Fuck the punisher...lucky charms is where it's at.
-
which would be fine, except this is a Punisher movie and he doesn't resemble Frank Castle in looks or demeanor. We've been waiting for a picture that's Above the LAWSOME, and this aint it.
-
That's the promo? We see the top of Punisher's head and his gut? I'm on the fence about this, I like the idea of more Punisher but this picture makes the dude look doughy.
-
Thats funny...
-
Titus Pullo will destroy you all as Frank Castle. Thomas Jane who?
-
I have to admit that made me laugh.

by SCYTHEOFLUNA
And I love the way the skull is barely even an afterthought this time around. Way to commit. It's almost as if you're trying to hide the fact that he's a costumed character, as if this franchise needed help in being generic.
-
too dumb to figure out the box underneath subject is where you type, or is posting subject lines only, one after the other, his schtick for standing out like a circus performer.
-
Don't get me wrong, it was a bad film overall that tried to be both slapstick cartoony and hardcore violent and ended up failing, but there were moments here and there that were pretty damn good (I'm specifically thinking about the arrow through the neck and the fact that Frank's entire extended family was killed not just his immediate). So unfortunately the franchise can actually get worse.
-
He looked like a tiny guy..punisher needs to be physically imposing, not just muscular. Even in the coat the man didn't look big. Needs broad shoulders, squarer jawline, and something other than ANGST acting.
-
We were some of the first posters and we more or less treating it like a chat room, it was late and there were just a few folks going back and forth sorry i was going for expediency at 1:30 am I was about to sack out.
-
She said this is completely fake and she's working up a blog posting ASAP to clear the air.
-
Danny Devito..
-
That actor who plays Micheal from the Showtime series Brotherhood, has that moe convincing gruff look as opposed to Jane or even Lungren (whose performance was superior to Jane's)for that matter. This new "Punisher" looks too much like some ponytail wearing- buddist-psudeo martial arts- method actor who is so fat he can't even lift his leg to kick unless it looks like a dog peeing. This may suck, but I could be wrong.
-
as the Punisher, but he needs to be in shape and the movie needs to keep with the badass theme of the character (don't want the Punisher to be some damn environmentalist). It would also be cool to have the movie show the Punisher in Vietnam during a flashblack, it was very cool in the comic and that is where he actually got his moniker.
-
I really like Thomas Jane. Not a fan of the first movie but this guy looks much more like Castle already.
-
A lifetime of slander, mob extortion, lawsuits, DTV slumming, an energy drink that is practically only available online, and weight problem...oh, and time.
-
And I don't think the actor looks like Steven Segal... tell the truth I thought it was Liv Schreiber. I probably didn't spell his last name right, but that's who it looked like to me. Being a Punisher fan from way back, I plan on checking out this movie. I recently rewatched The Punisher and there were some stupid moments that should have been avoided, like the lightening as Castle comes up on the lift elevator thingy, the death of John Travolta's character was WAY over the top. And WTF? The guns were still in that beach house? Little things could have been changed and would have make the movie better.
-
for the winter time. huh.
-
Hes suing for likeness rights.
-
for the Punisher to kill off in a single shot.

Would have made a good Punisher. This guy looks like Segal. I don't care how good he was in "Rome" or if the director is some hot shot martial artist, this movie has FAIL written all over it. What's shameful is that The Punisher character has the potential to be huge, if they took the time to actually adapt it properly.
-
Yo- Dig a recap of a conference call with Punisher director here: http://movieblog.ugo.com/index.php/movieblog/more/punisher_war_zone_news/
-
hahahahaha
-
Man - the first Punisher gets absolutely no love - I find that very strange. I found the movie to be very well set up and emotionally charged. It made the viewer invest in the Punisher emotionally and you actually rooted for him to get his revenge and take out those family-killing bastards. I thought his ways of killing everyone and setting them up were ingenius. I am very bummed about Tom Jane not being involved and have my reservations about it because of that. This Segal-looking pic definitely doesn't help lift any doubts for me.
-
He wasn't listening in rehearsals, was he? Why isn't my gun actually firing? Is that my clip on the floor. Shiiit.
-
as said by the posts above!
-
I've never dropped a mag by applying pressure to the front of it. What kind of piece of crap guns are you ladies shooting? Where the hell else is he supposed to hold it? You don't touch the launcher underneath until you're ready to use it. And I think he looks like Will Saso doing Seagal.
-
...of releasing lackluster first images when it comes to Punisher films. Remember that lousy, wimpy-looking image of Jane they put out for the first one? Anyhow, Thomas Jane's career is doing fine, and according to him, he left because the movie wasn't hardcore enough, and he didn't want to make the same mistake as the first one. They might have changed their minds since then, sort of how Warner Bros was constantly trying to do an updated, "extreme" version of The Death of Superman for the longest time, and eventually ended up making a sequel to the Donner film.

It's got Newman, McNulty and Dexters girlfriend too?
by BackRiverCatfish
I'm there!

Ok, why do they always have to put a silencer on an M-4? For CQB it makes no sense. Why wear gloves if you're just going to cut the fingers off? Why is his secondary weapon up so high? When he has to transition, his primary is going to get in the way and slow his draw. That pistol should be in a drop holster on his thigh. Ok, why the piece of shit sight on the rifle? How about a little eye protection? Fuck it, it's hollywood.
-
is actually not wrong. He has most of his hand placed on the magazine weld, and many of us in the Army has done this with no problem. If you look closely, you will notice that he is NOT grabbing the magazine, which is a bad thing to do (it can cause weapon malfunctions). I know all of this because I was a Armorer at one time in my 14 year career in the Army. The bottom line is that some guys feel more comfortable using the magazine weld to aim their weapon and I've even done it with no problems.
-
I said this at the beginning. Female directors can't direct action flicks! I know it's sexiest and not PC, but it's a fact. She made basically one movie (and it really isn't that good of a movie) so how she got the job in the first place is a question.
-
...a fire hydrant strapped to his chest? As I learned in the first film, it's The Punisher's weapon of choice.
-
can't wait.
-
Does that guy have one big eye or what?
-
..."hello"...
-
Really? Isn't it?

No seconds for YOU, Jonathan Livingston Steven Segal

everything I'm hearing about this version, from the casting, the location, to the director's description of things, is making me look forward to it. Whereas, not a single thing made me interested in the last incarnation. In fact, I still haven't seen it. Everything I read about it seemed to indicate that this was not the Punisher from the comics, while this one does.
-
"its not sex...its punishment"
-
bitches
-
They already wear the same shirt.<BR> And who cares if Austin is bald, did the comic version ever look like Steven Seagal? C;mon!
-
Unless you too are a world champion kickboxer and karate star. If that's the case she could kick your ass like it was an angry chihuahua instead
-
Everyone who knows Titus Pullo loves Titus Pullo, so why deprive everyone of seeing his mug as The Punisher?
-
I was literally pissing myself when I saw that shot. I thought "Looks like Seagul" then I read all the other talkbacks and everyone was saying it. <p><p> Hilarious.
-
Had to get my Rome mojo on...anyways, that is NOT Ray Stevenson. I know that the goat guy up in the talkback said he had info that this was not Stevenson, but Seagal. I totally buy that - it's not hard to look at the pic and tell it's not Stevenson.
-
Geez, how many times can you fucktards point it out?!
-
had to squeeze that in there.
-
But I love the idea of Titus Pullo doing some punishing and as long as John Travolta isn't in this I am very excited about it. Thirteen!!! mother fuckers!!!!
-
OOOOOH! I'm holding a gun!!! Scary!!! Seriously, that's the best still they had from the movie?
-
In what way? I see Ray Stevenson with died, slick black hair wearing a shirt with a punisher symbol on it holding an assault rifle. Is this from some other movie where Ray Stevenson kicked ass with an assault rifle while wearing a shirt with a skull on it?
-
duct taped to an M4, but looking at it that may not be and M4... maybe LWRC or M6 PSD, new versions of the M4 sans top grip shots a heavier 6.8 mm instead of the ols .223 cal. If its a LWRC think of an M4, that set up to serve as more of a SAW, and if it is one that that is actually flish supressor, not a true silencer and it, a permanent fixture on the barrel, chek it out on the Future Weapons web site http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/future-weapons/weapons/zone3/slideshow/slideshow.html If thats what that rifle is, that a seriously Punisher style gun.
-
sorry for the typos reading the site typing and working all at the same time.
-
wasnt necessarily good, but it was freaking aweosome, and I just cant complain about a movie that has a crappy plot or a crappy acting, if its awesome. Take the the new-ish blacksheep for example
-
Think about it.
-
Frank Castle opens door to mobsters' lair, is greeted by singing, Technicolor dwarves.
-
There's a scene where Louis Gossett Jr. is talking on the phone in the police station. A map of "the city" is on the wall behind him. I paused on image, noticed that it was a map of Seattle turned ninety degrees. Odd, considering that it was filmed in Australia. Were there no maps of Sydney to hang on the wall? Did they think the odd angle would render Seattle unrecognizable? Shouldn't they have used a map of NYC, instead? And what about Naomi?
-
PUNISHER 3: HARDER TO KILL I think they'll stop at a trilogy. Seagal would be too old.
-
That is one of the best stories ever written. Hardcore and just fucking relentless. Brutal, emotional, tragic. That is a masterpiece of film that will one day be made by me. Never have I wanted to kill someone so bad.
-
she can kick my ass all she wants too. It won't change the fact that she's going to deliver a STV movie. oh, and he looks like Segal
-
he looks stupid...tom was the best punisher,im boycotting this film already.Definitly tom was the best,it was simply a case of right actor wrong director
-
That is Ray Stevenson...However, i do think that Ray could pull of Frank Castle fairly well, if he can get round the accent. If not, I'll certainly be howling in the aisles listening to Frank Castle talk like a Geordie; albeit a posh geordie.
-
*shrugs* what an amazing original image folks, man with gun.
-
Sure, it is total low-budget B movie material, and Dolph never gets to wear the skull logo, but it has one large body count to it. I'd love to get it on Blu-ray if they ever remastered it in HD and included the stuff they cut to secure the R rating back then.
-
Ray will be ok. worried about the story though.
-
Fuck this garbage
-
I could not believe how much the Tom Jane one sucked. How can you screw up a movie about a guy shooting lots of people in revenge? The job's practically done for you. <p> Its the worst Marvel movie in history. After 'Hulk' of course. Nothing's worse than 'Hulk'. Not even AIDS.
-
Haven't seen that in forever.
-
I don't give a fuck what anyone says, this pic is so bullshit. Doesn't look anything like Ray Stevenson. This is some photoshop shit some fanboy put together
-
because he does look like Segal. Dammit, I was going to argue with you. I really was. Here's a list of action movies directed by women: Point Break, Deep Impact, Aeon Flux, K-19: The Widowmaker, The Peacemaker, Strange Days, uh....Punisher:War Zone....fuck. Looks like Kathryn Bigelow is queen shit of action movie directors since she directed 4 of the above movies herself. Touche Darth Kaos, but yes Lexi Alexander could probably kick both our asses.
-
Loved her in Bed Of Roses and she's great as Bobby Hill, the real "King" of the Hill.<p>Why did the article say "I liked Jane in the role but didn't care for the first movie"? Thomas Jane wasn't in the first movie, Dolph Lundgren was.
-
Maybe it's the fact that he was based on 70's movie vigilantes to begin with (Dirty Harry, Charles Bronson...), Frank Castle translated into film is just another meathead with a gun among hundreds of other movie characters who seem to do it better. I'm sure this has been said before, I'm just stating the obvious again...
-
then read "The Slavers" and tell me that The Punisher sucks. He isn't just a meathead with a gun, he is the symbol of someone beyond human who takes the step to do what some humans deserve. He may have been based on some vigilantes, but he has become the epitome of Vigilante.
-
I love that Jay Bilas from ESPN is in that movie!?
-
It should be greesy slithly longer hair from the top pulled back
-
Hated the first film, probably not going to like the second one. Who's starring and directing?
-
Levi Alexander is actually Lexi Alexander, they tried to hide the fact that a chick is directing this one !
-
Three words are all Steven Seagal needs. <br> Marked for Death<br> Above the law<br>The Glitter man<br>Hard to Kill<br> Under Siege two...
-
That is not a gut your looking at it's a Kevlar vest. Although the skull is too light. It should be the first thing the bad guy sees. Both to ensue fear and act as a target. Woudl rather get shot in the vest than the head!
-
but the naked, shaved, make up'ed ass shot wasn't.
-
"i come in peace" is a dumb name, we got a better name, like we got a better army of darkness movie.
-
before I even read anything I saw Seagal there. Shit, now I WANT Steven Seagal as The Punisher. How did no one think of that before?? Fire whoever that asshole is and put Seagal in this flick!
