Cold-Weather BIG BROTHER Coming Feb. 12!! Plus JERICHO!! CHRISTINE!! LAW & ORDER!! Behold Your Strike-Fouled 2008!!

Published at:  Dec 04, 2007 6:01:14 AM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Loads o’ scheduling news:

* “Jericho” moves to Tuesdays, replacing “Cane” at 10 p.m., effective Feb. 12.

* CBS just greenlit its first non-summer (and presumably bikini-free) edition of “Big Brother” ever, which will also bow Feb. 12. The reality hit will run hourlong editions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday.

* “Law & Order” replaces “Life” on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. effective Jan. 2. (This is great news for “L&O,” which nearly died on Friday nights last season.) Sam Waterston takes over for Fred Thompson as New York's D.A. so the latter can run for president.

* Repeats of USA’s “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” will make their broadcast debuts on NBC at 9 p.m. Wednesdays, bumping “Bionic Woman.”

* New episodes of “The Captain” (a new series) and “Old Christine” will take over the ”Big Bang” and “Rules of Engagement” Monday timeslots on CBS.

As someone "in the know"... Leno is a dick. He fucked his entire staff over. Letterman was right.

    What makes BB so good:

    by mcgowanleg

Real time (so the editors can't cut out too much of the show's inherent darkness).

It really is the best of the reality shows.

Big Brother exposes Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Breaking Bonaduce for the contrived swill that they are. BB is the best reality TV I've ever seen.

    by tonagan

That seems like an odd slot. Wasn't it on Wednesdays at 8 last year? Kid Nation should be finishing up, so why not put it there again?

    Reply to Talkback

  • Dear God, no? No! NOOOOOOOO!!!! Ah well, at least there's hockey, football, and basketball still rolling now to make up for it. Come the end of those sports though (and there's only baseball on the tube), and the streets will probably run red with blood.

to give some perspective on the writers strike

    by kennef

i'm spending the rest of the season watching failed TV series from the late 80's and early 90's. thats for 2 reasons: First, to remember how stupid the Networs have been in cancelling perfectly good shows. and Secondly to remember how stupid he writing for TV can really be.

    Will Jericho have an ending

    by inwosuxred

or will they just leave it dangling in a way that insults the people who begged the network for it to return? It would be nice if the show could run concurrently to some sort of Blackwater hearings.

CBS supposedly ordered the Jericho producers to wrap it up...

    by prof. pop-cult

Originally it was reported that the Jericho produced intended to have the 7th episode of the second season be a cliffhanger, but CBS ordered that the episode be rewritten as a conclusion. (CBS apparently doesn't see the possibility of continuing the series, and so they definitely do not want to deal with another "nuts" campaign.) We'll see what we get in the finale.

    Jericho / Big Brother

    by harrysnemesis

I read an interview and Jericho will basically tie everything together so that it makes logical sense if everything ends, but will still leave an opening for the series to get picked up. I read other networks have talked about picking it up if CBS does not. I hope the writer's strike lasts at least long enough that people will give Jericho a chance, if only for the reason that it's the only thing to watch :) Once people start watching, I don't think they'll stop. I still can't believe after everything that CBS still doesn't really want it.

Can't wait for big brother -- not just one but two in the same year? Big Brother has been my fave reality show of all time since the 2nd season. I hope they get some decent celebs for the celebrity version :) Jericho and BB are a couple of the few things that have been an excellent result of this writer's strike!!!

    In all fairness to CBS

    by inwosuxred

the middle of the first season of Jericho was terrible. If my wife didn't insist, I would have stopped watching. I thought the show recovered in the last few episodes, but even then I didn't think it was great or that people watching a few episodes will make it successful if they fill this short run with filler.

    re: JERICHO...

    by leto iii

...according to recent comments made by Carol Barbee, CBS is committed to picking up the series for a full, 22-episode third season if Season 2 does well (which CBS is expecting at this point). The strike's the best thing to ever happen to the show.

I hope the strike doesn't end before this runs out

    by inwosuxred

not because I want it to have no competition, but because I don't want it to do well and then have the finale re-written so the loose ends aren't tied up.

    The same could be said

    by the selecter

for Heroes, albeit to a lesser degree. Promising premise, poor execution, though becoming quite watch-able, even enjoyable in the latter stages, but both ultimately disappointing, and bearing unrealistic expectations and given some unrealistic praise.Given the choice between a prolonged strike benefitting Jericho, and delaying the rest of TV, it's no contest. Give me the axe, and I'll chop off Jericho's head right now.

I used to watch this show, but every year they throw more fags into the mix and nobody wants to see that. And by FAGS, I mean cigarettes. Oh yeah, and there's too many Queers on the show too.
