Strike Enters
Week Five!!

I am – Hercules!! William Goldman proves right again!! An excerpt from Monday morning’s Variety:
With both sides back at the barricades, many believe the writers strike won't be resolved until March at the earliest.
This begs at least two questions: 1) How did the “many” pull “March” out of their hinders? Variety fails to explain! 2) What the deuce was Nikki Finke’s source talking about last weekend with all that business about a WGA/AMPTP deal being “done, basically”? Picketing resumes today. Talks are scheduled to resume Tuesday, after the WGA called a hiatus Thursday to consider the producers’ latest proposal. Read all of Variety’s story on the matter here. This separate Monday Variety story makes an interesting point. Once the strike goes past this coming Sunday, all the TV actors “have to be restored to full salary or else be made free agents through force majeure.” This means much TV talent -- from Katherine Heigl to Kristen Bell -- is likely to find itself able to join already-written movie projects that are about to shoot. Finally, Julie from SaveFarscape.com writes:
Hey Herc, Jul here from SaveFarscape.com/WatchFarscape.com. I hadn’t seen this up at AICN yet, but figured it just hadn’t reached you. Apparently, actors are clamoring to help the Pencils2MediaMoguls campaign, which is going to be sending Pencils to the Media Moguls. Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) is donating 3 of his infamous towels autographed (see picture over at RDM’s blog: http://rondmoore.com/Site/Blog/Entries/2007/11/30_Towel_for_you.html) to the cause. Aaron Douglas (Chief, BSG) is donating a ticket to a hockey game, to be attended with him, if the winner can get him/herself up to Vancouver . Other actors from Battlestar Galactica (Mary McDonnell, Michael Hogan, Michael Trucco & Tricia Helfer) are donating phone calls to winners of the drawing. Assorted cast members and Showrunners from Smallville (Michael Rosenbaum), Army Wives (Kim Delaney), Eureka (Colin Ferguson & co-creator Jaime Paglia) are also donating personal phone calls to winners to the cause - getting Pencils to the Media Moguls. More stars, writers, and showrunners keep upping the ante each day – they’re posting updates at http://www.pencils2mediamoguls.com – so fans could actually get to talk to their favorite actors if their name is drawn in the drawing. Just by donating some money for pencils that will be passed on to needy kids, after they’re sent to the Media Moguls, fans will get to take part in this really cool drawing. Looks like they’ve got almost 400,000 pencils donated so far. Hope all is well! Happy Holidays! Thanks for passing on this info!
