A Plan to Save Dan Vasser On A JOURNEYMAN-Free Monday!!

Published at:  Dec 03, 2007 6:37:07 PM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Dennis over at groundlings-review.com conveys this idea:

Hey Harry and Hercules,

Television Without Pity and us over at Groundlings-Review have come up with a plan to try to send a message to NBC that there is a large audience for Journeyman.

The plan is on this Monday, December 3rd, to download the episode "Blowback" from iTunes and to watch as many episodes of Journeyman as possible on NBC.com. The hope is that if we can cause enough of a spike in their stats, that might make an impression that there is a large audience for this great show.

The reason we've chosen Monday is because Life is showing in Journeyman's place on that day so we thought it would be a good time to send a message.

link!

Thanks!

Remember that the last three completed episodes of “Journeyman” will be aired over a 10-day period starting next Monday:

1.11 Monday, Dec. 10
1.12 Monday, Dec. 17
1.13 Wednesday, Dec. 19

That final episode brings back tachyon expert Elliot Langley and possibly introduces a third time-hopper.

NBC has details:

I was more than happy to download it to try and help save it. Journeyman is one of the best new shows on(Life too). If they're going to cancel anything then cancel Bionic Woman. It has yet to have an episode that makes you say "That was great!" whereas Journeyman has had a lot of those. Please NBC don't cancel it!!!!!!! Don't be a Fox, let your shows have time to nurture.

    by frank black

Seriously, where is the TB for Life. Every week it just gets better and better like a subtle, modern film noir and if there is a better actor than Damian Lewis I haven't seen him. I am sure Journeyman has developed into a fine show but Life is a smart crime drama for adults that isn't a retread of the 10 Law & Orders or CSI's on TV. C`mon Herc, shine the light on Life.

Jman vs "Dont Forget the Lyrics"

    by tvguy returns

Started watching Wayne Brady's gameshow with my wife this past week. Have to watch it on DVR because the placement of breaks is too annoying. After having a really good time talking with my lovely bride about music, instead of bills/etc, I realized that this gameshow is a hell of a lot more entertaining that BW, JMan or even Chuck (which I love). However, none of these are as riveting as Life. Then again, I also liked Raines.

    by catvutt

And probably watch it instead of Life. Honestly, there's nothing WRONG with Life, but in addition to Journeyman, I can think of at least a couple other shows I enjoy more, and it's just not all THAT original. It's elements of Bones, but without the chemistry of the cast that really started to gel mid-season last year, or the wit, and Burn Notice, but without the over-the-top goofiness. And I like the show, but it's been uneven at best, and I really don't feel all that invested in the characters. To me, it's very good, just not something I'd be sending aspirin or Ketchup Sammiches to NBC over if they cancelled it. I fully grant Journeyman had a sluggish beginning, but the last 5-6 have been a damn revelation for what a classic this show really could be.

Variety confirms reason for "no love for JMan"

    by mgthedj

Variety has a story about Ben Silverman, head of primetime prog. at NBC, picking shows made by his old production company Reveille. "Reveille had three projects in the works at NBC before Silverman joined the General Electric Co.-owned network. It now has more projects there than any supplier other than NBC Universal's own TV production studio. The surge in sales has raised questions among the network's other suppliers and business ethics experts about whether, in his position as programming chief, he has favored Reveille shows, possibly enriching himself at the expense of GE shareholders and other studios.Once again, Journeyman is actually a FOX show that just happens to air on NBC. About Quantum Leap

    by steve trevor

Ok, it's a show where a guy goes back in time to change/save something. So it's like Quantum Leap OR Voyagers (the latter a probably more accurate comparison), BUT the aesthetic does play like a soap in my opinion. I actually am familiar with the show and watched the first five episodes and then stopped. Please tell me, did I miss something by stopping that early?

Almost exactly my reaction to the shows, only I was watching week-to-week, sort of, and just about ready to bail out also. There's TONS of us who didn't really get hooked until after the first batch of episodes.
Great comment on the 'Quantum Leap" comparison as well. That puts it as well as anything else I've seen.
And Steve Trevor, what you missed was the exponential increase of continuity, the reveal of the FBI investigator who wasn't, 'They always need money', and Jack finally being brought fully into the fold. Great stuff.

    How to save Journeyman

    by jeffreyunited

How about instead of actually downloading the episode you write to the network and let them know you would have happily downloaded it but there's a writers strike going on and until they resolve the strike and make a fair deal none of us are going to download anything from them on the net. It will work just as effectively, maybe more so. If one or two folks do it they might be able to dismiss it but if hundreds of us send the same message they are going to sense a loss of revenue and that will surely get noticed. And it helps to let them know as soon as it ends you'll look forward to downloading Journeyman gain.

...and it's clear to me that if Journeyman doesn't come back then there won't be anything worth watching on NBC on Mondays. I was a fan of Heroes last year and was pretty pumped about this season--now I'm just embarrassed for myself. That show is sooo fucking bad. I'll admit it's written by some very talented and gifted people. They're 10 years old, but they are talented and gifted. Journeyman, on the other hand, is just a solid, top-notch tv show. All around--the acting, the writing, the directing. It would be a crime to let this show go away. I love this show so much I'm almost getting sick of hearing myself talk about it. Almost.

Don't get me wrong--there are two great new shows this season. Top of the list is Journeyman (it's about as close to giddy as a show can make me)and second is Life. I love Damien Lewis in this and the writing on this show is great--they do a really good job of defying my expectations of a cop show. Funny, as I type this, I realize that my top 3 shows (currently on) all star folks from the UK playing Americans: Journeyman, Life, and House. Also interesting--my least favorite show does as well: Bionic Woman.

Downloading it right now! Should be done in a few hours. God, I wish the television people over here in the UK would get the rights to air good US television shows at the same time as they're broadcast over there. Instead of airing them two years later. I believe season one of Heroes is only about half way done on BBC2 over here. *Sigh*

    by iammrmonkey!

Yes, Daybreak was resolved. The last few episodes didn't air but they were put up online. Good stuff. It never explains why he kept repeating the day but it did explain the whole conspiracy thing. I felt so relieved when he finally got to see the sunrise on a new day!

that line made me laugh. So did "I'm not sure but I think people were having sex in that house". Crews certainly has a way with the ladies; and by the reception Reese got at the party looks like she could too. I thought it was a great episode. Maybe a bit heavy-handed in the exposition on the bank robbery, but otherwise great. I'm glad they have kept with the documentary to keep it moving. It's a nice way to allow casual or new viewers to keep up without dumbing it down for the rest of us.

    by indyjonez100

It was all right, like someone said, a couple of good one liners. They didn't do a "Here is what you missed" at the beginning of the show to catch me up as a new viewer like they have been doing on Journeyman and Chuck. I may watch it again, may not.

Of course half of Heroes viewers didn't watch Life

    by big jim

10pm is their bedtime! It's the same for every show that NBC puts in that timeslot; the Nielsen kids watch Heroes then go to bed and then the parents take over the TV to watch CSI Miami because they want to see Horatio's pithy opening line. As long as Nielsen families watch what is popular, instead of what is good, NBC will never beat CBS 10pm Monday.

    Confused...

    by abin sur

If a show like "Life" gets a full-season order, does that order apply only to the CURRENT season? If the TV viewing season is still going to be tracked by Nielsen until May 2008 (which it is) and there are no new shows produced during that time (which there WON'T be unless the strike ends like TODAY), then does that mean that the renewal or pickup of a show is null and void? I ask because even if NBC announces that they are going to pick up additional episodes of Journeyman, is that even binding if the next time we get new programming isn't until Fall 2008?

    by pviii

but it'd be filmed in Vancouver with the GG bridge superimposed and would have a budget 1/4 the size and then suck. Also, the film stock quality would go to The 4400 levels, where it looks like a five year old made it on a 1995 sony handycam.
