Moriarty Just Realized... 2007 Is F*&King Over! But There’s So Much Left To See!

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here. I am freaking out. I mean, it’s not like an episode of I LOVE LUCY or anything. There are no full blown antics or shenanigans in progress. But I’m seeing as many as three movies a day right now and next week, I’m going to travel for almost a week, and part of that week is BNAT, and before then, there’s a film festival evening here in LA I want to attend and a live event that’s happening Monday at the Roxy. I can use my travel time to write, because that’s pretty much all I’ll have for the next ten days or so. And by the time I’m back, the year will be over. Everything will be out or screening or screened. Just this week, I’ve seen GRACE IS GONE, THE GOLDEN COMPASS, THE DIVING BELL & THE BUTTERFLY, YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH, THERE WILL BE BLOOD, and SWEENEY TODD. I’m watching ANGEL-A and Adam Rifkin’s LOOK here at home tonight, and then I’m going to Disney to sneak a look at a few things tomorrow. The reason I’m posting this is because I’m going to need some help. If you released a film this year, this is an appeal to you. I’ve seen nearly 200 new films this year, but there’s a fair amount of stuff I’ve missed as well. There are things I have in the house or definitely need to see and there are things I’m not sure I care about at all. And like I said, some of the stuff on my “must see by year’s end” list is here in the house. Some of it will be out commercially before the year is over, and I’ll pick it up when it’s released. But then there’s stuff that falls into a limbo, that is out of theaters but that won’t be available on home video, and as a result, I’m not sure how I’m going to be able to catch up with those films. Each year at this time, I start to reach out to people in an effort to figure out how to see everything, and this year, I figured it would be even easier if I make the appeal here on the front page of the site. Please... if you can help me with any of the 85 titles on that list, then get in touch with me via e-mail. Help me out. Before I make my year-end list in January, I want to make sure I’ve given 2007 (one of the best years since I’ve been at AICN) the fairest shot possible. And if there's a title you think I should see, and it's not on any of those lists, tell me that as well. I’ll be dropping at least three or four reviews this weekend, including I’M NOT THERE, PERSEPOLIS, and a few others. I’ll also be posting a huge column that’s going to help me in my efforts to catch up on all the material backlogged here at the Labs. And if you’re curious what I’ve really loved so far this year, here’s the short list of my favorite films of the year to date. Talk to you guys soon...
