Edgar Wright is throwing a Show at the New Beverly this December... You really don't want to miss this!

Published at:  Nov 19, 2007 6:10:39 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here... Every good movie geek should love the adorably boyish and cute Edgar Wright. The way his eyes light up as he looks into yours is ... well, remember when you played spin the bottle and it landed on the guy you really wanted... it's like that. Anyway, handsome rogue-ish Edgar is setting the legendary NEW BEVERLY afire with some badass programming thoughout December.. though he's wisely left December 8th & 9th blank - as nothing could possibly be cool in the wake of the Ninth Annual BUTT-NUMB-A-THON.

Here's what he has planned according to TWITCHFILM.NET

December 2nd Paul Williams will join Wright to introduce Bugsy Malone, for which he composed the music, and Phantom of the Paradise, which he stars in. - Quint here! There's also a secret Midnight Show this night, a film commonly referred to as one of the best movies of all time, one that was a huge success back during its original release. I can say no more!

December 5th pairs Wright with a pair of guests: Timothy Dalton is on hand for Flash Gordon followed by Joe Dante introducing Danger Diabolik, Quint here again! This double feature has John Philip Law on the schedule as well! How cool is that?

December 7th Shane Black is on hand with The Last Boy Scout and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

December 10th - and this is a good one - features John Landis with An American Werewolf in London and Tremors!

December 12th you get Top Secret and Bananas with David Zucker!

And, finally, December 14th it’s Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and Head with Mickey Dolenz!

The big missing night in there is December 16th, which features Raising Arizona and Evil Dead 2.

That December 2nd night would be... for me, the best night ever. When we had Paul Williams at the Drafthouse for the PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE sing-a-long... it was fantastic beyond words - but to see it as a double-bill with BUGSY MALONE? BLISS.

Of course seeing Timothy Dalton with FLASH GORDON and Joe Dante intro DANGER DIABOLIK... pretty ace. And well... the other nights all rock the casbah as well. Get the details here: NewBevCinema.Com!!!

    DIABOLIK FOREVER!!!!!!!

    by bennozoid1

If there's one person I'd like to see remake DIABOLIK (apart from me, SERIOUSLY) it's Mr Wright! It's my very favourite Cult film experience of all time (next to WITHNAIL AND I)...I know Edgar loves it, and that Christophe Gans seems to given up on it...SO: my one-man campaign to see Edgar direct DANGER:DIABOLIK starts here!!!.....

For anyone who can't make it

    by bobman46

I and loads of other folk have those films on DVD. Why not arrange a mass screening......or just watch them yourself........sure you won't have Paul Williams or Timothy Dalton there.....but Paul Williams is a loud popcorn eater and Timothy Dalton keeps trying to scare the Living Daylights out of people as soon as the lights go down. Less hassle without them!

    Sign me in, bennozoid1!

A Danger Diabolik re-make from Mr. Wright would be bliss. Simon Pegg could be the police chief and Nick Frost... I don't know, but I want him there. Also, please keep the cool Jaguar.

    THIS ALREADY HAPPENED LAST DECEMBER.

    by cuthbert84

Unless Edgar is planning on running the exact same program again, this already happened last year. (I made it 3 nights of the festival. John Landis did the best Q&A.) Edgar did post on his myspace page that he's been invited to do another festival this December at the New Beverly, but that he wasn't sure if his schedule would permit it.
