I did not alert AICN, because one of two things has happened any time I've tried to bring something to their attention. a) 1000 others have already done so, as I would assume is usually the case, so Ithere's no need for one more email on the pile, or b) I do submit something and it never gets reported - or if it does it's a week or so later with someone else credited.
But I could care less about credit for submission. I just wish AICN would get back to its roots, when it was the go-to site for news.why so defensive? -

How can Herc claim it's our fault for not alerting him to news stories? I'm a big fan of AICN (particularly Moriarty's reviews - which do require a lot of time and effort on his part) - but I'm amazed by Herc's "Don't beat yourself up. Just do better next time" line. It's not our job to do better!

...if all this place is now is merely a collection of recycled news from other sources it may as well just be another penny-ante blog site, and I think the site is capable of better than that. This place used to be about staff contacts and insiders and people with scoops and fly on the wall rumours - not old news that's been posted everywhere else days ago, but actual new news - being sent in, along with the usual parade of views and reviews and stuff, so for Herc to blame us for his lack of catching something sooner is utter bullshit, and I call him on it.

I was writing this off until I logged on here yesterday and saw the McTerminator story. With the film franchise moving into what will almost certainly be horseshit territory (say what you will about Mostow, but - Mostow is to Cameron what McG is to Mostow, if you know what I mean), I may just have to pretend that the movies ended with T2, and consider this the true follow-up. Not that this won't potentially be tepid Smallville-esque TV, but - I'd say it has a better chance at decency than a McG helmed Terminator film. All of which taken together makes me want to say "Fuck! Fuck fuckedy fuck-fuck!"

I also saw the pilot and was really impressed. Fox is really giving this one top notch treatment which is a rare thing for that network to do. The production value on the pilot was phenomenal. The acting, writing, special effects were all top notch. Really excited for this one.

I agree wholeheartedly with toshiro-solo. My kneejerk reaction was that a TV show was a bad idea, but with T4 probably turning into crap, this may end up being the "real" followup in my eyes. And I can't say I'm too disappointed that it's ignoring T3. I enjoyed it but up until the last five minutes it was just a replay of T2 with bigger crashes.

It was worth getting up at 6AM and taking 2 trains to New York (SEPTA regional rail to Trenton, then NJ Transit the rest of the way). About an hour after I got to the convention, train service was discontinued between NY and Newark due to downed power lines. One train was caught in the tunnel under the Hudson between Penn Station and the Jersey side for supposedly more than 2 hours before power was restored. Talk about dodging a bullet.

I can see your point Node but I honestly never laughed out loud at Arnold. Nor did I feel the elastic band, that is suspension of disbelief, snap because of his Austrian accent.
Not to mention of course the character, The Terminator, was build by a machine and who was to say Skynet was wrong to give this specific terminator an Austrian accent. Should it been an American accent?

Now in the reality of making movies circa 1984 if Mr. Cameron (then unknown Canadian filmmaker) went around pitching that idea I believe the film would still be unmade today. What do you think?
Maybe if the terminator spoke German for 2 or 3 lines then adjusted his speech to English?
Might be a waste of screen time setting that up and making it pay off. A lot of unecessary exposition required and I doubt it would be essential to help tell the story. What do you think?

I dont understand why a cyborg cant be speaking English with any accent weither it be Austrian, Irish, South African, Dutch, French etc. Its quite normal in America for people to speak English with foreign accents isnt it?

Anyway Node I'd imagine in the low budget filmmaking world of sci-fi of 1984 compromises were made on a daily basis and I for one think its a slight compromise (held by some not all) considering how well they pulled it all off. Its a classic film who's shadow is ruined with dribble and watery vomit like T3 and this pending TV show.
And you're absolutely right to check out the show yourself and come to your own conclusion which I believe will be the right conclusion based on your comment "Moronic Woman". I have faith in you yet Node. The future is not yet written!
