Justice League cast to be announced next week, here might be an early preview...

Hey folks, Harry here... Warner/DC is being incredibly tight lipped about this JUSTICE LEAGUE film, but we've been hearing from all over that next week they're going to unleash the full cast on us. Well, got this email wanting to give us a drop on some of the casting? Can't get anyone at Warners to spill - but take it as you will... I actually think this makes sense and Common could be exceptional casting as the Green Lantern... and I can't believe I think that.

Harry/Mori/Merrick/Quint/Vern (who am I forgetting?) I want you to have this before that OTHER site gets it... and I know they will. The trades are going to announce the cast of Justice League next week, but courtesy someone connected to Ken Ralston I can tell you four confirmed names. - Adam Brody (THE O.C., GILMORE GIRLS, THANK YOU FOR SMOKING) - Common (SMOKIN' ACES, WANTED) - Scott Porter (SPEED RACER 'Rex Racer', FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS tv show, DESCENT, MUSIC AND LYRICS) - Teresa Palmer (WOLF CREEK, THE GRUDGE 2, DECEMBER BOYS) Palmer is not Wonder Woman, I believe she's a villain. Brody is Wally West. Common is The Green Lantern. Porter, they think, is Superman. There's also word that Michael Gough might be appearing as Alfred. The full cast should be revealed by this time next week.

Seriously, these people don't look like they'd fight for anything. When will Hollywood learn that actors need to be more than just pretty shiny surfaces? Looks like we've got a new Fantastic Four level of crap coming our way...

    Megan Fox as Wonder Woman

Didn't the writer's strike kill this?

    by montessaurus

Jesus, the WB really wants to fuck this one up don't they. Firstly, (I DO have the utmost respect for Micheal Gough...) good call guys. Lets connect this movie to the SHITTY Batman movies. Awesome job. Secondly, Gough is still alive? How old is he again? Secondly, Adam Brody as anything but Annoying Douche #1 is just bad casting. Oh yeah, and he doesn't vibe Wally West/Flash at all. Fuck, he doesn't even merit Kid Flash. He's a lame Jimmy Olsen at best. Common...? Eh. Even though he's more an "artist" than about 90 percent of his hip-hop peers that doesn't translate John Stewart at all. Might as well get Bono to play Green Arrow. And did I mention I'm a DC fanboy?

  • Nov. 17, 2007, 1:31 a.m. CST

The rest of the cast better be good.

Not crazy about Adam Brody. The others seem OK, I guess. But Megan Gale better be WW. If Mary Elizabeth Winstead got Wonder Woman, I swear to fuckin' God....

    Michael Gough again as Alfred?

    by DerLanghaarige

Since this is the only name on the list that I know, it's the only one that I care about. Plus: He was a better Alfred than Michael Caine, who was just Michael Caine as Batman's Butler. I hope THIS is true!

    Megan Gale

The only somewhat good thing that has come out of these JL movie rumors is her as Wonder Woman. I know fuck all about her acting but I'll be damned if she doesn't look the part. Although with the cast presented above, Jessica Biel would be more appropos. Hell, JLo would be right on, the way this trainwreck is going. I'll stick to the comics and the good DC movies I think.

Jesus, WB suits... when an actress that is getting by on having the "Now-est" ass (tied with Kim Kardashian) and some dork that was in "Stomp the Yard" turns you down, that to me would be a sign that maybe it's time to pack it in on this particular project and call it a day. But no, these are the same shirtlifters that give the Flash movie to the clueless fucktard that directed "Fred Claus" and the GL movie to someone that's not Geoff Johns. Idiocy.

  • Nov. 17, 2007, 1:46 a.m. CST

    God forbid they wait.

    by MichaelShawn

You'd think if they were so friggin' excited about the script, they'd wait until they had talent to match. The more I look at these names, the more I see a Justice League along the lines of Smallville. Y'know...I wait my WHOLE FUCKING LIFE for these properties to become movies, and when they do they market it to third graders. Thanks alot WB. YOU SUCK.

I couldn't agree more about that Superman sequel. I can't wait for that. I don't understand the hold-up. Sure, X-Men wasn't great, but X-Men 2 blew it the fuck away. That would suggest to me that once Bryan Singer establishes his uni(comicbookmovie)verse, getting comfortable with the material, etc... HE GONNA CRUSH IT!!! At that point in time, X2 was the best comic movie(to me) ever. Of course than came Bats Begins and the bar was raised. So yeah, I'd rather see a proper Supes sequel than some half-assed rushed like hell abortion of a JL movie anyday.

just him being in this movie is enough for me to pass. Seriously, the rest of the cat could be absolutely perfect, but him as Wally makes me want to retch. Even though he's not the best actor ever alive ever, atleast I could SEE Ryan Reynolds as Wally. I'd rather have Dane Cook as Wally that Annoying Brody. Or that "I'm a Mac"/DH4 douche. Or Drew Carey. But that's another discussion for another time...

I am also SERIOUSLY into comics, and though I have all the chiseled good looks and lean muscle mass you'd expect from a superawesomeherodude, I nowhere near consider myself able to play anyone from the JL. From what little I've seen of him, I can't see Porterdude as nobody. HOWEVER, I can see myself as Snapper Carr. I could pwn that role. ALSO, Jude Law supposedly has a Rorschach tattoo, does that mean he'd be an awesome Roschach?

there were ever an Adam Brody bio-pic, I'd like to nominate Bill O'Reilly, Jimmy Kimmel, Kanye West, Brett Ratner, Dane Cook, Jimmy Fallon, Eddie Murphy, Criss Angel and probably a few other famous people to portray him. I can't tell you why exactly, but I just find Adam Brody to be an insufferable douche. And the few that I could think of off the top of my head (listed above) I think could play him perfectly. Even without a script. Just think: The Adam Brody Story Improv with Jimmy Kimmel as Adam Brody! It'd be like Adam Brody, but fatter. And married to Sarah Silverman.

I'm worried about Adam Brody's voice...the way he gets all Seth Cohen, talking like a smartass. Plus the Flash suit, it could look silly on him. In more important news, Megan Gale and Jennifer Hawkins (Miss Universe) are in a catfight. Megan was offended by being compared to Jennifer and said Jennifer hasn't done as much as she has (except win Miss Universe). Megan don't like no other bitches all up in her kool aid. I'm worried about Adam Brody

    by montessaurus

in general. His voice, his hair, his build, his ability to conmbine humorand action. Pretty much everything. I'd be worried about Adam Brody playing himself in the Adam Brody biopic. In no way has this dork shown in any venue that he's capable of playing Ryan Reyn *AHEM* the Flash and that alone kills it for me. I love Miller. The first two Mad Max movies are classics. It saddens me to see that he's (morethanlikely) going to be at the helm for driving the stake through the DC Comics movie universe's heart. Georgie, Georgie...get on Fury Road while you can.

Porter as Superman? I thought maybe if he was being considered, it would be for Batman (not that I want him for that). I was hoping to hear names that we hadn't heard floating about during casting rumours.

  • Nov. 17, 2007, 3:18 a.m. CST

    by Rommel Catuncan

Yeah, I watched the original Mad Max when I was really young, which may have been a bad idea. I still remember that dismembered arm just hanging there... Miller has changed since then...Mad Max 3 was that save the children thing. Then it was Babe, then Happy Feet. He's a bit like Lucas in that way.

    Live/ The Brains

    by montessaurus

Right on both counts. In my opin-onion. Now granted, as far as George Miller goes, the first two Mad Max movies ar brilliant. Babe is pratty damned amazing considering it came from the same director. Mad Max 3 was pretty much an abomination. Combine "Hook" with Mad Max and a dash of George Lucas on acid and you have trainwreck. Now, this doesn't make me an authority on Miller, but it does sadden me that he's going to (likely) depreciate himself by directing the OC League movie. As far as casting goes, I'm convinced that after they ok'd Brandon Routh, they were fearing the sophomore slump and preemptively Tonya Harding'd themselves by hiring the casting dude from the Fantastic 4 movies. I think.

To quote Harry "that said", Jeezie Creezie, just consulf Bruce Timm and Paul Dini and SHAZAM! There you have it, a more marginally credible movie at probably about half the cost. Jerry Siegel wife and daughter are suing to take the rights to Superman back from Time Warner. As the company continues to decimate the character, maybe this needs to happen. The family will probably turn around and sell it to Marvel, but at least that would be an improvement, since Warners clearly doesn't know what the hell they are doing and doesn't give a shit about Superman.

    Why Not Animated?

    by Colier Rannd

I don't understand why they don't make an animated theatrical feature JLA. Give Bruce Timm and Paul Dini an insane amount of money to do it. Get Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly back as the World's Finest and BOOM! you're done. A first grader could figure this out.

    I'm starting to come around...

    by TiPPiDa

I want megan gale to own that role... simply because I have her glorious nakedness canvassing my desktop (much to my wife's chagrin) and I WANT to know that at anytime during the Justice League movie, I can fantasize that she is neeeee-uuuuude and have it be semi-realistic.... I want her to have this role if the JLA movie (which I will go see if she is cast as WW.. I don't really know how much plainer I can put it).. Even if the OC guy is Flash, even IF there's no @qu@m@n in it (could be a good thing), even if it IS a gay infinite crisis storyline.. I will go see it if 2 things happen... 1.. megan gale cast as WW (again, this is a biggie)... 2. if it is a CGI Motion Capture movie.. Beowulf has brought me around to motion capture, you think of one of the greatest comic book style movies ever, one CGI movie that truly kick ass... THE INCREDIBLES.... now could you do what they did in that movie as a live action piece?... of course not, it would look hokey and cost a bazillion dollars to make. Think of what could be achieved effects wise in a mo-cap environment, it would blow the everlovin sassy pants off anything Singer, Nolan, Donner, Burton, Raimi or even JAMES FUCKING CAMERON could muster in a live action movie. <p>You have your mission Warner Exec types... get to it.

You've got that shit right on. (unfortunately) Warner Bros has had plenty of opportunity to keep it together (postBatmanBegins) but it seems to that they're willing to go the way of the MarvelStudios / Fantastic Four buck with the quickie JL movie and just hope to cash in whatever way they can. It's a shame, because I think George Fucking Miller is too good for this. I hope I'm wrong, as I'd gladly eat my shoe sans dressing. It just seems like Ain'tItCool is backing the fan fave on the waaay wrong project.

    by lex romero

in him. 2 good films, a popular kids film, and the rest is mostly forgetably average. The cast are too young, whilst i like adam brody he's not right for the part. Chris Evans would be a fantastic "flash". In fact, the human torch was pretty much just the flash on fire.

    by Jazner

I just don't see how this is going to work with successful franchise already in motion with Batman and Superman. I get that JLA could be a lunching point for future franchises surrounding The Flash, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, but none of those will ever be as big as the previously mentioned marquee names. Gimmie two more Batman sequels and two more sequels to Superman Returns. P.S.- George Miller? Seriously?

    by Funketeer

I like George Miller but his name alone does not inspire confidence. Mad Max and Road Warrior were good but Thunderdome was eh. Babe Pig in the City was good by Happy Feet was pretty bad. by Uncle Stan

  • Nov. 17, 2007, 8:05 a.m. CST

I used to be really pessimistic about this

    by dr sauch

but I'm getting the feeling that this could be good. I think we, as comic book fans, need to be willing to make concessions regarding continuity for this. We should abandon all hope of them really being able to get all the major plot points right or address them at all. What we can hope for (and should press the filmmakers for) is a visually appealing movie which captures the essence of what JL is all about, starts at the beginning, and sets the stage for suture chapters to unravel all of the great stories told throughout the run of JL.

Too bad for Routh. If gough is Alfred I hope Keaton is Batman. That's the only non-Bale choice I could live with. But they're probably working a deal out for Bale. All I'm saying is

    by Vern

George Miller is one of the great directors of our time, and to me his asskicking track record is a little more relevant than what people imagine he will do with some actors who are rumored to be cast in the movie he hasn't even started shooting yet. This scooper doesn't even know who these actors are playing, and we don't even know if what he's telling us is true. Based on that you got some prick telling the director of ROAD WARRIOR to burn in hell. Make me want to fuckin cry.<p> I was just being a smartass bringing up the auteur theory, but some of you guys need to learn it. You get excited about these comic strip movies based on whether it sounds like they are following the little details from the strips, even if it's the guy who directed TOMMY BOY or WEDDING CRASHERS or JACK FROST or some shit, you still think it might be good. And yet you got no faith in this one and have never taken the time to say "it's a god damn miracle that in this day and age they hired a great director with all the skills to make this movie ten times better than you would expect it to be." Because somebody you heard might be in the movie that is not shot yet is two inches shorter than the way you pictured Wonder Woman when you jerked off to a crude drawing of her yesterday. Fuck that shit, man. Is all I'm saying.<p> Industry Killer, I am tempted by your bet, but number one, gambling is a sin, and number two, it is ridiculous to say that SPIDER-MAN 3 is as bad as BATMAN AND ROBIN so there's no way we're gonna agree on that.

so if I saw alot of people writing, "It's cool that they got George Miller, but..." that would be one thing, but since most people aren't even taking him into account, and one guy is calling him a "hack," and I've seen other talkbacks where some of you little squirts didn't even know why George Miller is a big deal, I have no choice but to occasionally pop in with the GEORGE FUCKING MILLER reminder, out of a sense of duty.

That always kills me about people who are all "b-b-but he made March of the Penguins. He's gonna fuck up Batman". Seriously, who do you think is going to shoot the most badass Batmobile chase sequence imaginable the guy who made Momento or the guy who directed The Road Warrior? I'm not knocking the Nolan Batman, actually I love it but some people here are tragically short sighted.

What's with all the George Miller love?

    by MichaelShawn

I still don't get this. People are ready to canonize this guy based on TWO MOVIES from roughly 30 years ago. Since then he's done a couple decent movies like WITCHES OF EASTWICK and BABE 2, some retarded cartoon that somehow won the Oscar (oh yeah, but CRASH did too didn't it? Obviously Oscars are no indication of quality) and LORENZO'S OIL which I vaguely remember but it didn't exactly become a classic did it? So what exactly is his reputation built on? MAD MAX? And we're supposed to trust that he can still make movies for adults in 2009?

  • Nov. 17, 2007, 1:33 p.m. CST

George Miller is not a great director

    by troutpencil

I don't like the first Mad Max movie. I will probably never be able to watch it again, it gives me a fucking migraine, and it is not a consistently badass movie. The revenge only starts at the very end. It's filled with terrible stuff before that. The road chase at the beginning, with Mad Max revving up, suggests it will be badass, but then the chase goes on too long and immediately kills the mood. Road Warrior is obviously epic, but then he capped his trilogy with Thunderdome, which I actually think is OK but come on, that's a far cry from fucking Road Warrior. The only other movie of his that I vaguely like is The Witches of Eastwick, and due to the presence of Cher I will probably never watch that again either. Babe: Pig in the City was, for some I imagine, quite a movie, but fucking Happy Feet was an abomination. Terrible, irritating Robin Williams latino penguins. In Miller's career he has only made one Road Warrior. The rest have been mainly kid's movies (Mad Max is a kid's movie in my mind, it's really fucking bad, I won't buy into all the bullshit about that one).

    I'm with Vern...

    by Sledge Hammer

...George Miller gives me faith in this, so much so that even if the cast is youth oriented and has nothing in their backgrounds to show they have anywhere near the ability to pull these roles off, I still think George will be able to squeeze the very best out of each and every damn one of them. <p>Miller doesn't guarantee that this will rock, but damn if he doesn't give me a hell of a lot more faith than I would otherwise have at this point, and he's one of the few directors that I'd never bet against when it comes to what he's capable of delivering to screens. <p>What I find really puzzling though is the attitude not just that this project is automatically doomed to fail, but almost as if people want it to fail (just so they can say they called it, perhaps?)...the rampant hatred for this project is pretty fucking mind boggling to me, especially for a project where we haven't even seen anything of yet. Even the crappiest of the marvel movies didn't seem to get quite this level of ire...<p>Personally as I said I have faith in Miller and hope for the best on this one, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

    Agreed, Vern

    by Le Vicious Fishus

Miller is one of my favorite directors, and I believe BABE: PIG IN THE CITY is a ballsy work of sheer genius (and horribly underrated and misunderstood). <BR><BR>However, I am concerned that the cast at this point may be (possibly) skewing on the very low side age-wise. I'm also not thrilled with WB's obsession with casting grade Z TV/crappy horror film actors. I'm hoping for less young glam looking and more worn, tough looking (FLASH and WW notwithstanding). Please: no models pseudo, super or otherwise. <BR><BR>Most importantly, the folks they cast need to at least have some decent acting chops. I am not impressed with any of the rumored cast so far. It seems to me that it would be very easy for JLA to be dismissed as a FF clone. And though the history of JLA comics contains some classic (and deep) story lines as well as (many) inane ones, this project, Miller or no Miller, will fail if the cast consists only of WB PartyKidz.

We finally came around to watching that a short while ago, and not only did I think it was really good (and easily one of the very best CG Animated films made so far), I was thrilled to see Miller surely hadn't lost it when it came to doing superb action-sequences. I don't have a single doubt Justice League's action scenes are gonna trump over most and probably all we've watched so far in films with US comic book characters. Of course the movie I REALLY want to see is Mad Max IV- Fury Road, let's hope we hear more about that one soon.

    by IndustryKiller!

EVERYONE fucks up sometimes, and often its int he pursuit of making a comic book film. The casting is infuriating not because it shows the arent sticking to canon, but that they arent sticking to character. Common as John Stewart? Give me a break, he wasn't even very good playing himself in Smokin Aces. And I can make a damn fine argument that Spider Man 3 was every bit as bad as Batman and Robin. Form the ridiculous over the top silliness of everything in the movie, to the CARAZY villains that are completely fucked up. Hell I dont remember anyone having a retarded dance sequence in Batman and Robin or Bruce Wayne walking down the streets creepily pointing at women as he walks by them as they get all flustered. Thank God Raimi isnt coming back.

With all the mulit-universe confusion (only comic geeks know the difference between altenate universe, not the general audience) this film might actually hurt the current Batman or Superman film franchise by Nolan and Singer. <br> 4. What the hell is up with no Green Arrow? (sorry, thats my own little personal gripe). <br> 5. I love Mad Max just as much as the next film geek, but what the hell was up with "Happy Feet"?

    by justy4life

"Looks shocked" Oh my God. Batman Begins was an origin film. Batman...Begins? Wow, thanks for clarifying that Batman Begins was an origin film. Your main problems are with the two franchises? Not the casting choices? Kristen, please check yourself into drug rehab or pick up a comic book. I'm going to get hung by the nutsack on this statement, "But what has George Miller done lately?" Sure he directed Mad Max in 1979 and Mad Max 2 in 1982. That was nearly 28 years ago. Think about it "28 years" that was back when George Lucas knew how to make movies. Below is George Millers body of work. He directed a movie with Mel Gibson "Road Warrior" where he is silent, not to mention he wrote the script. I'm sure his vast talents from Babe and Happy Feet will really make a worthy film. If George Miller is a legend then I am Babe Ruth. To direct a successful Justice League movie one is needed that can handle action on a large scale "George Miller did to that in Road Warrior". I'm concerned about his ability to handle DC's greatest Superheroes on a large scale. His casting choices will greatly influence the film. The actors that have been rumor and mentioned are simply to young and lacking talent. I'm also amazed by a view of the fat geeks comments. I for one work out nearly five days a week and find myself in great shape. Sly Stallone who has posted on, he's a legend and in amazing shape. Just because we are fans of movies, doesn't make us all fat geeks. But I agree with a lot of the posters here concerning George Miller's ability. I think he can be a great director but I was 9 years old the last time he shot a great action sequence. I'm 35 now. And it's not like he hasn't made some poor films. MAD MAX: BEYOND THUNDERDOME is a mess. I am hoping that he pulls off an awesome film, who here wouldn't want to see a great JUSTICE LEAGUE film? I’m sorry but George Miller is about as suitable to this project as bloody John Carpenter is. In fact Carpenter made way more than 2 (where not counting that piece of shit Mad Max 3....yeah I thought you forgot that little number) kick ass movies Escape, The Thing, Big Trouble. But guess what he lost his grove and Miller never had any other The Road Warrior. No the real reason for his appointment on this cash cow is Happy Feet...... Happy Feet. Which just makes this sites support of this train wreck all the more hilarious. If Warners were going to do this properly they'd wait until Nolan and Bale have had their say on the character. You might remember those guys they single handed revived a character from beyond the dead and breathed life into the entire comic book genre. Personally I hope that Nolan and Bale show some face and walk after The Dark Knight next year. Leaving Warners with a stupid movie that nobody wanted to see - that being Justice League.

Its cool :) no need to apologise, but since you went to the effort.. apology accepted....<p> Now... (here's a chance for that 85 percent to come out again hahaha j/k) adding to a previous post, the other reason I like the idea of Motion Capture is simply because it would feel like a completely different type of medium to me, just like, lets say Smallville is to Superman Returns is to the Tim Daly/George Newburn Voiced superman, is to The Adam Baldwin Voiced Superman, etc. etc. it would feel like something completely different, it would not hinder my appreciation for the new DC movies simply because it would not feel like part of that universe, even though they're using the same characters. My 2 cents.... <p> also, George Miller has the capacity for greatness, his earlier works prove that every director worth his salt has had patches of SHIT films.... I mean there are fucking MILLIONS who think Steven Spielberg is a god (myself included) but even HE has his bad spells.. for every "Schindlers List" there is a "Hook", for every "Close Encounters" there is an "AI", and for every "Jaws", there is a "Terminal".. Even though Spielberg track record is by far one of the best hollywood has ever had even he has some bad 'days' (Watch for Will Smiths portrayal of me in the upcoming movie "I AM SPIELBERG APOLOGIST").

George is the man who took dancing penguins seriously, you need someone who can be as forgiving to the essentially juvenile premise of superpowered individuals flipping through the air in capes and tights. I'm not saying the guy is infallible but he is one of the stronger visual storytellers around. You could DO WORSE.

"George Miller is one of the great directors of our time" No he isnt Vern. He's made a couple of decent films that have dated very badly. If Warners wanted to hire an animation director then Brad Bird should’ve been offered the gig. As it is Nolan’s track record kicks the christ out of anything Millers done over the last 10 years- he’s the one who we should be pulling behind here. And by most accounts he isn’t all that happy with the decision to produce the film.

  • Nov. 18, 2007, 1:50 a.m. CST

    Oh fer fuck's sake

    by Vern

Dark Knight, you fuckin weiner, please tell me which of Miller's movies has "dated badly." You comic strip fetishists don't deserve the movie that Miller is about to make as a gift to you. I ask you all to stay home and not watch it because it's just not fair that you will get to enjoy it with the rest of us after putting us through all your whining and shit.<p> Fact: even in George Miller's pig movie, even in his penguin musical cartoon (!), he had asskicking action scenes. If you can't see through the surface to the substance, or at least to the mechanics of the thing - the masterful storytelling, the organic use of technology to create characters and worlds - then you need to learn to. Nolan, in his Batman movie (as great as it is), did not have good action scenes other than the chase. But Miller will put that chase to shame. I love that Nolan made a serious drama about Batman, and I can't wait for his next one. But Miller will give you the other half, the part where the comic book movie has thrilling action sequences and a fantastical world. He's not some crusty has-been, he has evolved with the times and with his last two children's movies took special effects far beyond what other people have done, and not at the expense of story and character and believability like Lucas. Hell, I agree, I am not a fan of penguin musicals or pig movies or fruity comic strip movies, but this is a guy who will take a movie like that and turn it into gold.<p> In fact I will make you this deal. If this movie does not AT THE VERY LEAST contain the greatest "comic book" action scenes ever made, then I will personally skim one (1) of your nerd comic books COVER TO COVER. That is the kind of sacrifice I am willing to put on the line for this shit. You're going down buddy.<p> And if I lose at least we'll get FURY ROAD. And I'm willing to take that bullet for FURY ROAD.

or Mad Max 2 as we call it in the UK, was one of the best films of the 80's without a doubt, but as other people have said its been a LOONG time since then, and happy feet is a kids movie so doesn't count--casting so young and badly IS not a good sign.

Are you guys serious? I'm not the hugest fan of the Spider-man pictures. I thought they were fun. But to me they are all the same tone, it's just that the third one went further into the silliness with the dancing scene, and had more characters so it got kinda messy. It has the same melodrama though, the same weepy relationship drama, same cornball comic book hero shit. I thought Sandman was a more sympathetic villain though, the action scenes (though fake looking, just like in the other two) had more at stake because they finally tied off that whole Green Goblin Junior storyline. So in those aspects it was better than the other two. Also it didn't have that silly Green Goblin robot costme.<p> BATMAN AND ROBIN though, I think maybe we are talking about different movies, that was a movie where a bunch of guys in furry and rubbery costumes went around on a neon colored soundstage, sang songs from old Christmas specials and made something like 20 or 25 puns about ice. Schwarzenegger wore bunny slippers. Some muscleman wore a pink gorilla costume. They drove a car up the side of a building using suction cup wheels. Batman had nipples, ice skates and a bat credit card. The whole thing is kind of a blur but I'm pretty sure you're wrong to compare these two movies, either that or BATMAN AND ROBIN was over my head in some way because I don't get why you guys love that one so much.

We're going to be laughing our butts off at how bad this guy looks! He will look like the Superman wannabe from Epic Movie! But probably a whole lot gayer since it's ment to be serious! I can't believe that the WB would allow such a casting for such an important role! I mean Superman even in the JLA toons is bigger, and more cut, and built then the rest of the JLA! To you Welling fans out there keep the faith alive maybe this is false information to keep the real cast a bit hush til the WB is ready to make it official, and to those of you who hated Welling & Hated or even liked Routh you'r going to be begging to have had Welling cast if this Scott Porter guy realy gets the role! This is the worst casting EVER!!! I didn't think that they could out due Singer with his terrible cast but OMG they did! If this is Real Miller is the new target of much hate! Hope this ship sinks, and the movie never gets made... This movie with this cast, and the rumored Storyline is only going to hurt these characters more then help.

    by moondoggy2u

I heard the same arguments made about George "Fucking" Lucas and the Phantom Menace debacle. A few nice action pieces surrounded by miscast actors and a lousy script. Same thing could be happening here, Vern, as you very well know. "But moondoggy," you say,"there's nothing in Miller's background that says he'll make such mistakes. The guy's resume SCREAMS action!" Well, that may be, but Lucas had a similar resume, in fact, I would go so far as to say he had a better one, and we still got The Phantom "Fucking" Menace, didn't we?<p>No, I'm sorry to say this Vern, but bad casting is bad casting. I don't care who is directing this or how good the action is, if Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are played by WB channel rejects, I will not be interested AT ALL. And I've a hunch I'm not alone.

Here's Your Weekly Reminder About Geroge Miller...

He's not King Midas. He can't turn shit into gold. No offense, I'm a fan of Miller, but this sounds like complete garbage so far. <br> People are talking about how great his actions scenes are. Vern, I love you,

    by Le Vicious Fishus

but a movie buff geek calling out comic book "nerds" is both hypocritical and shitty. I've got a MA in English Lit and still concede that some of the best contemporary fiction out there is in a "funny book" format. If you don't know agree, I urge you to pick up anything by Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman or Grant Morrison.<BR><BR>That stated, yes: many mainstream comics (like JLA) typically are penned by mediocre writers (if not mediocre graphic artists), but that doesn't mean that there aren't amazing, classic (standard comic book) story lines by superior writers out there.<BR><BR>All THAT stated, Miller is indeed one of our great writer/directors (and not just for innovative action sequences). Miller being on this project is the best news by far to date. I do take exception, though, to the idea that a cast of mediocre youngster actors wouldn't badly hurt if not ruin even a Herculean effort by Miller to pull out a great film. That's simply naive.<BR><BR>However, I do agree that these rumors of lightweights being attached to the film will (mostly) amount to bullshit. Yeah, there are a couple of characters that will likely be selected from the pseudo-model CW set, but I fully expect at least a couple of older, powerhouse actors to be cast in this film as well.

Why is it that everybody is upset about the ALLEGED casting of young WB actors, and yet VIOLENTLY DEMANDING the casting of a guy who literally is an actor from a crappy WB network teen soap opera? I don't get it. (Yes, I looked up who Tom Welling is, he is a droopy haired underwear model looking dude from TV. Good casting there fellas. <p> As for George Lucas, that comparison doesn't hold water. For one thing, Miller has directed recently, and has directed more movies than Lucas anyway. For another thing, all the problems you guys have with Lucas have to do with him being stuck up his own ass self indulgently absorbed in the details of the world he created and in using the new technology. These are not problems Miller has had in recent movies or that apply to him being hired to direct someone else's script about super heroes punching each other.<p> At least do this, wait until they actually announce the real cast, then start mixing the suicide kool aid. We don't even know if this is true yet. And Common was pretty good in SMOKIN' ACES, he was better than I thought he would be. He is a noted rapper and hat collector.

I think what bothers most about the WB casting...

    by rbatty024

and what bother me in particular, is that it shows studio interference. It's marketing and demographics and looking to see who will spend the most money. I know this happens in most films, but does it have to be so obvious? Miller's Mad Max films are classics (I even enjoyed the one with Tina Turner) and I really liked those pig movies, but if he's letting the studio push him around (by making him cast a bunch of kids) then how can we trust that the old Miller is going to come through?

The guy can do action (Mad Max), drama (Lorenzo's Oil) and black comedy/supernatural (Witches of Eastwick), and he can wring emotion out of audiences using small cute animals (Happy Feet, Babe). Plus he directed the only decent portion of the Twilight Zone movie. I'm not worried about Miller directing this; my concern is the quality of the script. Its simple buddy . Nolan = very good film maker at the top of his game. His action scenes are characer based not a bunch of dated shit with a guy running around in assless chaps. In fact Nolans film takes direct inspriation from OHMSS a film that time hasnt touched. It also owned a considerable ammount of time long before Mad fucking Max. As for Batman Begins not being a traditional action film - if that means JL is going to be everything we've seen before and nothing we haven't. Then no thanks. You'll never convince me or indeed anyone that Miller is great because Happy Feet has good action scenes.....christ next you'll be telling Babe 2 does as well....oh wait you did (try that is). Bottom line again- Nolan's earnt the right for the shit not to happen . If Miller wants to make a Superhero movie featuring Batman he'll just have to wait in line. See no need to be a condescending pain in the ass- where talking movies here nothing serious.

I also don't see how any grown-up could get all depressed over any of these casting choices but hey, that just seems to be the way it is around here. By not choosing to cast expensive actors, there's an extra 80 million dollars that will be spend on elaborate sets, gadgets and FX Thunder within it's no doubt big budget. Pure Corporate Bullshit

    by cyclo

This pathetic film premise is the product not of people who love superheros, but of corporate suits who believe a movie with Superman and Batman in it would rake in a guaranteed $800 mllion worldwide. The issue of quality or desire to make a great superhero movie isn't at work here. It's the names, man. Those names = guaranteed big bucks in the pockets of the corporate suits. This will be a movie without a heart or soul, but a corporate vacumn hoping to sucker as many people as possible into paying $9 bucks for what will be, to quote Jeff Goldblum's character in Jurrasic Park, "one big pile of shit."

    Cholera's Ghost

    by Vern

Did you just call Common a "gangsta"? Where'd you get that from? I'm pretty sure you're thinking of some other guy, because Common is a dude who raps about relationships and shit. He's smart and grown up and a little bland and some guy above took me way too seriously when I made fun of his hats by calling him a noted hat collector.

    Know what I mean Vern?

    by justy4life

Congratulations Vern! You have the mentality of Corporate Hollywood. Vern stated, "And Common was pretty good in SMOKIN' ACES, he was better than I thought he would be. He is a noted rapper and hat collector." Brilliant. Common raps and collects hats, perfect casting choice. Who cares if he lacks acting ability, the guy likes hats. Oh yeah. That underwear model Tom Welling, who you had to Google, just to find. Are you really out of touch with times? That you have missed out on 7 seasons of Smallville. Are you really the best judge of what’s good for Superman? That you don't even know the actor who has played Clark Kent for 7 years. Just because Miller had one hit back in the early 80s, doesn’t make him the second coming of Speilburg. Happy Feat? Brilliant. Lets hire him for our 200 million dollar motion picture. The way its looking this movie, is going to be the Adventures of Superboy, Wondergirl, Batkid, and that funny rapper with the hats.

    I agree

    by justy4life

I will just say this Vern. You make some valid points on Batman and Robin vs. Spiderman 3. It appears that George Miller is a bit of a favorite of yours. I own Road Warrior myself. I'm hoping that he makes Batman out of that mold. I'm just worried about the rumored cast. I think Spiderman 3 was the biggest piece of crap I've ever watched. Sam Rami needs to go back and make Evil Dead 4 with Bruce.

    I'm done after this statement.

    by justy4life

I'll just leave with this statement. The suits know this, that’s why their doing it, they could cast Vern as Batman and myself as Superman and the movie would still gross 150+. They figure Justice League to be the 2nd coming of Fantastic Four. That's bad for us, good for the suits. We'll have 3+ sequels. The cast is going to be C list, because they can afford it to be, the names already a well-known brand.
