Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince behind the scenes video hits online

Published at:  Nov 16, 2007 5:02:06 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here... I watched the DVD to HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX tonight, but haven't gotten to the extras yet, but it would not surprise me if the video linked below is on there. It's crazy how they're churning this series out with little to no hiccups along the way. Rewatching HPTOOTP tonight, I just really appreciated how well make this series is. Looks like we have another good one coming too. Here's the link:

    TOOTP

    by rei-ginsei

I enjoyed TOOTP (though it was a bit short in comparison to the others), but Goblet of Fire is still my favorite out of the movies so far.

    by tippida

BUT GIVE DEATHLY HALLOWS TO GUILLERMO DEL TORO!!... Just look at how beautifully made "El Laberinto del fauno" was and TELL me he wouldn't churn out the best of the series.
There's something in the water down south.

    Order of the Phoenix

    by jae683

Sucked ugly butt. Disjointed and uneven, and way too short. I can understand deviating from the book, bot come on. I want to know how they're going to overcome destroying the roon of requirement, especially now that EVERYONE knows about it too. sigh

Yes, I am geek; so sue me. =)

I was so close, but my password got jacked up. Anyway. I'm glad they're keeping with shorter hair for Daniel this round. He was getting ridiculous by GoF. I wonder how they'll balance the constant flashbacks to reveal Tom's story while keeping the present narrative alive. CoS tends to put me and my friends asleep for that reason (though I love it).

Del Toro or Cuaron should be doing HBP!

    by performingmonkey

I just don't get why they kept David Yates for another movie. Maybe it's because they always ask the directors back for the next one and they usually decline because they're moving onto something else. Or perhaps they want Cuaron back but it's not the right time yet. Whatever, Order Of The Phoenix was good on first viewing, the wow factor and all that, but ultimately it's definitely weaker than Cuaron's Prisoner Of Azkaban and maybe not as good as Goblet Of Fire either! I will never understand why the made the longest book the shortest movie!! They could have fleshed out so much more. This universe is rich and full of detail and yet the movies keep wasting the potential.

    HP & OOTP

    by wickedmonster

I have always watched each movie at least three times in the theaters, sometimes twice on the same night, to get my fix. But only this time, I watched OOTP once, (due to personal issues).

I just know I am going to binge on watching it on DVD...Gaddamnit, I need my HP fix.

    by aicndoesntwantmorecowbell

it was actually better than the book, much better. the book was solid, but it was the weakest one out of all of them. it took much to long to get where it was going and it dragged on for much too long. but the fianle was good, and the movie was much better.

Looking good, just one thing though...

    by hueyfreeman

Bring John Williams back for the last two films. Nicholas Hooper's score wasn't bad for Order of the Phoenix at all. But Patrick Doyle's score for Goblet of Fire was bland and downright atrocious in parts. It was like something out of a cheap TV movie.

OOTP was the worst book of the series...

    by skycrapper

because of most of those reasons mentioned above. Way too bloated of a book. Some editor really needed to tell her no on that one. I thought the movie was actually better than the book.

    Order was better than Goblet

    by sepulchrave

I just can't get over how muddy, repetitive and downright boring Goblet is on repeated viewings; the entire comptetition thing just makes for a circular viewing experience; the palette is drab to the point of being invisible and the flashbacks to the Ministry and the Crouches are lame, a terrible waste of both actors. By the time Fiennes gets his bit out, I was almost unconscious.

No Sirius, no Lupin, really nobody woth watching at all from a performance POV, apart froma rare flash of brilliance from Brendan Gleeson.

Half Blood and Deathly Hallows more than make up for it. I'm super excited for the next two films. I'm still interested to see if they'll have the balls to truly represent the horrors of the final book.

    Half-Blood Prince problems...

    by zerocorpse

In Order of the Phoenix (the movie) the kids were using Levicorpus, which is one of the Half-Blood Prince's spells that Harry doesn't learn until he gets that spellbook in HBP.
So WHY did they use it a year before Harry was supposed to have learned it, and WHY was it used and yet Hermione never complains about it as she did in HBP? Continuity is constantly shattered in the movies.
Frankly, after reading Deathly Hallows, I have NO IDEA how they're going to pull that off after they've compromised so much of the story and omitted so many important characters and events. Deathly Hallows will be a chaotic mess on the big screen.
MY SUGGESTION: Start over with a Harry Potter television series, and cover EVERY INCH of the books. There's enough material in those seven books to last several seasons, and people can finally see the story the way Rowling told it, and not some director's "vision".

so anyone who saw OOTP and didn't read the book?

    by just pillow talk

I haven't seen the movie, so I was just curious from a different perspective of someone who hasn't read the books.D.Vader - I think you could say that about the movies in general, that certain relationships were not put in the forefront like they should have.

    ZeroCorpse - I agree

    by just pillow talk

These books would be great as a TV show. More time could have been given to develop the kids' relationships with each other, get the fringe players involved more, Harry's relationships with Dumbledore, Sirius, more of the Weasley's, etc.

    EAGERLY AWAITING THIS MOVIE!!

    by moviemo

    It's gonna be the tits!

    MAJOR SPOILER ALERT:

Harry and Dumbledore escaping zombies in a dark, cavernous cave after enduring a disturbing episode involving poison-drinking and fire circles is BOUND TO BE fucking life-owning.

Not to mention SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE on the tallest tower of the castle. Lord of the Ringsy, much? Even though most of us know why he does the dark deed, still, that moment's gonna rock on so many levels.

    Done.

D.Vader - decent points - Azkaban left out more

    by birdmcmonster

Don't think it was ruined though. I actually think Cuaron's Prisoner of Azkaban omissions were far more detrimental to that story, like why leave out the permission slip at the end? Or why not make the connection more obvious between Padfoot Prongs, Moony and Wormtail and who they really are? Why say NOTHING about the reason why his Patronus is s stag? That bugged the hell out of me.

    Deathly Hallows was a letdown...

    by starlesswinter

I don't see why so many fans talk of all the important stuff in the final book...I mean, most of it's dry filler meant only to fit the long format of the normal school year (there is no school year in book seven). The problem with DH is that it should have used the central story arc to the overall series and made that centerstage rather than taken its only little route as a separate story.

The whole setup of book six was abandoned. So many things we thought were important were completely abandoned; instead, we get horribly contrived ideas that are forcing the plot forward.

There is no way Rowling planned this series out from the beginning. Sure, some basic things are evident, but there are too many contrivances in the last book, the one that should draw everything together but ultimately does not.

    Too many missed opportunities...
