Seth Rogen & Elizabeth Banks MAKE A PORNO with Kevin Smith!!! Greatest. Porno. Ever?
Hey folks, Harry here... When Kevin Smith isn't fellating straws outside men's rooms in a cameo in a Seth Rogen comedy called FANBOYS - he's casting said Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks in ZACK & MIRI MAKE A PORNO - where a down on their luck couple apparently decides to solve their financial hell, by making a Porno. Not really sure how that would solve their financial woes... That's like deciding to get rich filming flashers at Mardi Gras... but it's a comedy, so it doesn't necessarily have to make sense. One thing is certain... Kevin Smith filming a movie about making a porno starring these two is FRIED GOLD WITH MAPLE SYRUP AND STRAWBERRIES!

This is great!
-
Kevin Smith went the way of George Lucas. And I don't mean he's gotten better with age. Jersey Girl has so much child nudity that sex offenders should have been prohibited from watching it.
-
I mean...I'm a huge Clerks and Clerks 2 fan, and I like most of his other movies, but people are loving this movie before knowing anything about it...I'll reserve my opinion until I actually see the damn thing.

I don't know why anyone but Smith diehards would care
by industrykiller!
I mean talk about preaching the the choir. The posted a few pages from the script in an issue of Entertainment Weekly and at this point he might as well just title everything he does "Yet Another Kevin Smith Movie". It's really become that standard and blase. I can't imagine anyone would get excited after the dismal and at times awkwardly bad Clerks 2.
-
I also care about Rogen's career choice. Elizabeth Banks I get. Rogen... not so much. Kevin Smith must have pictures of him fucking Jonah Hill to pull this off.
-
Are the Kevin Smith days really over? Personally, I like Clerks 2 very much, and wish he would stop acting and nearly singlehandedly sinking movies like Die Hard 4.
-
Yes. It does. I hate this excuse by hacks to justify their inability to motivate character actions. Not saying that this Smith feature will do that, I just want to point out that IF you think, "How is that gonna help?" then the movie really, honestly, sincerely owes you an answer. And not one that's just, "dude, it's funny." It can be funny AND make sense, you know...
-
Yes, I could be characterized as a Kevin Smith diehard, but I think it's a tad bit wrong to act as though this is a movie that no one cares about. Yes, it probably has few interested parties outside of Kevin Smith fans and (now) Seth Rogen fans, but there are an awful lot of both who frequent this site. Personally, I have loved (to varying degrees) everything Smith has done, including Jersey Girl which, while a generic romantic comedy/father-daughter movie, was still one of the best of that type I have seen. I also think Smith knocked one out of the park with Clerks II and I cannot wait to see what he has to follow it up. As for Smith giving up on job, the only one he ever did that with was "Green Arrow", which he did because he doubted his abilities to shoot action scenes. The only other project he was attached to that he dropped out of was "Fletch Won" and that was because he couldn't cast Jason Lee in the title role like he wanted since he was yet to attain mainstream popularity with "My Name is Earl. Both happened prior to the release of Clerks II though, so I don't see how anyone could think that he had given up directing.
-
Wake me up when Kevin Smith does something the least bit interesting. And hopefully that doesn't include talking..or directing..or writing. Or acting..
-
She's awesome in Scrubs, and was in the 40 Year Old Virgin as well. Good to see she's getting top bill now.
-
I thought Rogan was a movie star now, why is he doing movies for the slacker version of Roger Corman?

Elizabeth Banks was the hottest female in the Spider-Man movies
by oh_riginal
You know this to be true.
-
I'll only see if it CHODO BOY is in it! Ok, well, I'll probably see it anyway. But you have to admit that'd be pretty cool....
-
Xiphos, if humor detector repair is only a buck, maybe you can buy yourself an adult sized penis for just a buck fifty. I'm not sure how anyone could enjoy the Jay and Silent Bob movie more than Clerks II. I liked Mall Rats a lot, too.
-
Seriously, its called "Make A Porno" and Rogen was already in a sex comedy that foolishly denied us the lead female's boobies, lets see some goodness! Anyway, Smith has said he doesn't really do improv and Rogen improv's alot. What up with that? (To be fair, Smith has let people improv in his movies sometimes so Rogen'll probably go off on that)
-
Any Kevin Smith related article brings the haters out of the woodwork but I don't know how people who enjoy the Judd Apatow comedies--anyone with any sense of humor, in other words--can't be intrigued about this, if not flat-out excited. I think this has a ton of potential to be great and it will certainly be Smith's biggest commercial success to date.

My friend sent Quint the scoop that Rogan was playing Zach about
by brighteyes
he never put it up but Joblo.com did. Fuck Quint
-
has been severely under utilized. Good looking, good actress, charismatic, plays well with others. I'd like to see how she does in a difficult lead role though.
-
still Fuck Quint
-
but, yeah... Kubrick, he ain't. But then again, he isn't trying to be. Maybe the addition of Rogen will help this.
-
Somewhere in time, 90s Harry cries at what he will become...
-
cuz those always go well
-
on this TB so far forget about Dogma?? Say what you want about all his other movies but Dogma is classic and hands down his best work. Hopefully Rogan and smith will make a good team. Smith's movies are far funnier then Aptows work, and yeah he is full of himself but he has a right to be and he is funny.
-
A genuinely excellent film. Chasing Amy is pretty good too. But the more time that goes on the more I think those days are in the past. He's also proven he has some classically awful taste with endorsements of movies like Daredevil.
-
...so that's why there's no Smodcast this week!
-
Americans...
-
I love seth and elizabeth banks as zack and miri, its perfect casting.
-
I love Apatow comedies and I think KS is OK but one of Smnith's traits is using the same "family" of actors, much like Apatow. Looks like he's sold that down the river and is trying to preach to the mainstream, it's a little sad if you ask me. Instead of branching out and doing something different he's leaching on and doing more of the same...and he's fat.
-
Jersey Girl blew and Clerks 2 was shit. Now we're stooping to "hilarious" gags about porn. This has been done before. BORING, Kevin. Make Red State or make nothing.
-
But really afflecks career as an actor is almost dead, jason lee's too busy being earl and both jeff anderson and brian o halloran are pretty much type casted as randall and dante. Why shouldnt kevin be going for seth,he'll fit in perfect for this flick. His hopefully next flick Red State will be something completely different.
-
Does anyone else pause their Spider-Man 3 DVD and masturbate to her face? Because it's fun to do that.
-
I want to be excited about this. Banks is gorgeous, funny and about the only one who walked away from Spider-Man 3 with any dignity intact. Rogen is awkward and forced in person (trust me) but gold on screen and i'm excited for anything he is tied to in a starring or writing capacity. I hope this is a return to his Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma greatness for Smith, but as much as i loved those films, and enjoyed Mallrats and, from a certain base point of view Jay & Bob, Clerks 2 was embarrassingly awful. The only emotion that occurred to me while watching it was pity. It was woeful. Come on Kev, give us a great one again.
-
The posted script on EW.com made me yawn. Smith says "we'll make people use dialouge that they actually use in real life!" Kevin, nobody says "fuck" in real life as much as you and your actors do. Unless they are unemployed, or work construction, or are slumming through junior college, living in mom's basement. Or living in Hollywood. You're nearly 40 years old, man. Junior high was 25 years ago.
-
Clerks 2 definitely wasn't his best although it could've been a lot worse. The final shot when it reverts back to black and white and we see the "milk lady" was a reminder of how great Clerks was. It's reminiscent of the ending of Revenge of the Sith where we saw the Death Star and Tarkin and all those other scenes which were from the original Star Wars.
However the main problem with Clerks 2 was it had it's very own Jarjar Binks in the form of Elias. It's apparent in the DVD commentary that Kevin Smith still considers Elias a great character much the same way George Lucas though Jarjar was a brilliant idea. However I just felt that Elias just took screen time away from Dante and Randal.
Also Kevin needs to stop casting his wife in his films. No disrespect but her appearance reminded me of Sofia Coppola in Godfather 3. What's even more scary is the fact that she could've ended up playing Rosario Dawson's character had Rosario turned down the role.
-
Anyone making a movie called "Zack & Miri make a Porno" featuring these two actors gets my full attention and money. I re-watched Slither yesterday which i enjoyed even harder the 2'nd time around (also watch those deleted scenes, everything with Michael Rooker that got left out is golden) and Banks is just great in that. And sheesh, is that girl easy on the eyes or what.
-
...seems to be the sport of choice in this talkback.
Ah...never seen the point of responding negatively to something I don't care about - it's kind of like responding 'I have no opinion' to a poll on IMDB. Just weird.
As for Zack & Miri - can't wait. I know exactly what I'm in for with a Kevin Smith flick. He brings the funny, I bring the double buttered popcorn. Disappointed that Jason Bateman's not showing up as he was rumoured to have been approached but ah well. -
He's lost a lot of weight just like Peter Jackson. I'm serious. Did he have surgery? Maybe he went on an extreme diet. Well, he looks great now. Keep it up Kevin!
-
Maybe he can make some kind of sense out of Kevin Smith's mess, on the set by improv-ing better lines than Kevin wrote.
-
Get on that Parker!
-
they always make money, heaps of pornstars get money that way
-
Yes, yes I do know this to be true.
-
Seriously, the idea sounds pretty lame. It's more like a "tee hee, they are going to get out of debt by having sex in front of people...tee hee" kind of funny. Dudes, that's about as funny as watching someone burn their house down.
-
...wouldn't have been nearly as hot in those Spidey movies without Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire...
-
Hotness is still hotness...just because she is surrounded by less hotness does not mean her hotness is a result of the non-hotness around her. The star burns more brightly, but it still burns. Like my loins for instance.
-
She's still hot though Jimmy... :-)
-
...that was intended as a humorous dig at Kirsten Dunst's quote about how any future Spidey movie would be terrible without her and Tobey Maguire in it...
...I thought this was a site for the "all knowing movie geek." -
...it's still a bit early in the day.
-
but I hardly qualify as an "all knowing movie geek". Doesn't M-O-M proclaim himself that everyday?
-
ZACK & MIRI AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL is much better.

"Gotta go to rehab..."
I SAID WEH!
Looking forward to this project. -
now that's a project I'd like to be involved in
-
Fried shit still tastes like shit.
-
Please Harry. Please stop writing.
-
How did I just find that out now?
-
just as Jersey Girl sort of rehashed Gigli, this bad boy's going to be a rehash of Knocked Up. Seth Rogan and a blonde that probably wonders why she's dating seth rogan. gonna have to work to really distinguish this from Knocked Up, not make it seems like a knocked up sequel or spin off or something.
-
was one called "Bronco Johnny Hard On". it must be obscure, as i cannot find a single reference to it on the entire interwebnet. it was ace, if anyone knows how to get a copy, please get it touch!
-
Only the most deluded and fanatical would argue otherwise.
-
Hottest midget porn star ever.
-
What else needs to be said?
-
The script and cast are solid gold.
-
"Only the most deluded and fanatical would argue otherwise."
and only the most deluded person would still be saying that. it's been the fucking battle cry of critics of his since 1995, and he's still around! fuck off. -
Now there's a good way for one person to make money!
-
this will be another in the line of good flicks kevin smith makes

Pleased to see that Smith is stepping out of the ViewAskew....
by rbatty024
once again. Hopefully the results will be less, how should I put it...shitty. This seems right up his alley. He does a fine job of mixing the crude with the sincere. He may not be Martin Scorsese but he's one of the few people who can make a comedy that doesn't talk down to its audience.
-
The guy is really funny and personable in real life, most of his movies are brilliant, and the ones that aren't are still pretty good. His dialogue sounds like a lot of foulmouthed people I know. I didn't like Jersey Girl, but I think he learned a big leason from that. I think he's went on record saying he won't direct another movie that he wouldn't like seeing. I can understand this not being your cup of tea, but why the hate?
-
if your interested
-
Normal people have seen his movies, it's not just us. And why all the hate? Does he make provocative movies that make you think and discuss life? No, he just makes some entertaining movies. That's just my opinion. But even after I put this out there, it does seem as if he's trying to get that Apatow type hit with this one. Could be iffy, I'll wait to see some footage before I say anything though. -
this fucking hack would stop making shit movies and jump in front of a train
-
10 inutes of witty dialoge, then seth rogans ugly ass and half a tit!!!! Woo hoo i'm excited...
-
...when Cheech & Chong did it.
What has KS ever done but try and fail, then write a drug humor movie, and repeat? -
And I'm a fan of most of Kevin Smith's films. Clerks 2 was great, and this sounds like good casting to me.Lookin' forward to this...

Did anyone see that video of Kevin Smith getting bitched out by
by dr sauch
It was great. He was like "Hey Mr. Smith. So, do you plan on making a good movie with original characters that doesn't suck?" Followed by Kevin Smith making fun of the guy for being fat or something. It was great. Kevin Smith is a fucking hack. If he didn't have that Jay guy in his movies, they would be just fucking atrocious. The dialog he writes, I mean, I don't understand, why does he have a fanbase?
-
He was also shit in Die Hard 4 playing the geek in his mother's basement. I've never seen a good Smith film and I never will, and you know what? I couldn't care less.

So every single critic that game him a good review is retarded?
by tallboy66
Yeah, might wanna recheck that logic there, skippy.
-
What's not to like. On Liz Banks... it took awhile for her naughty-girl-next-door look to get noticed, but better late than never. Just don't weasel out Kev. Seems like every movie made that has a salacious title, is anything but.
-
Why the fuck did you insist on watching more than one Kevin Smith movie if you hated the first one , then probably watched more and hated those too. Retard.
Clerks 2 was fucking brilliant. Moving , and hilarious. -
He got Katherine Heigl and he's getting Elizabeth Banks! If he gets Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Kristin Bell, Angelina Jolie, Kirsten Dunst, Natalie Portman, Jessica Biel, and maybe that Aussie model from those Victoria Secret commercials, he'll be a hero to portly geeks everywhere! :D
