Stallone to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio for MARTIN SCORSESE's SHUTTER ISLAND? NOT
Harry here... the story below got forwarded to me by AB KING - who had in turn been sent it. The story was an alleged screengrab of a YAHOO story that claimed to be sourcing a HOLLYWOOD REPORTER story. Upon further review - I can't find any such story on Yahoo or Hollywood Reporter - so at this point I'd say... tis a hoax.
Hey folks, Harry here... This frickin' rocks if it comes to pass. Apparently Martin Scorsese has offered the co-starring role in his upcoming Leonardo DiCaprio mystery-thriller SHUTTER ISLAND! He'd be playing a character named Chuck Aule. Stallone apparently hasn't officially accepted the role yet, but let's pray he does. I think it could be fascinating - those of us that are fans of Stallone know that there is a great actor there - and in the hands of Scorsese - I'm hopeful we'll see something truly remarkable in Sly's career!

BRING ON STALLONE!!!
-
....I'm gonna be like 4th. Sweet!!
-
...fake titles, and a mix of Stallone hate and Stallone homoerotic love.
-
Congrats Gabriel Gray. You're the biggest loser that's ever graced this site, and that's saying something.
-
dont you have better things to do than be obsessed with this website and annoy everybody?
-
How else can you explain this lovefest? (I just wonder who's pitching and who's catching.)
-
This would be like the cat's pijamas or the bee's knees, or something even cooler, i mean i cannot start to to put into words how cool would this be...
-
If Sly takes this role and works with Scorsese, then his career will be RED HOT again! Stallone should do a big action film RAMBO, then do a big dramatic film like this. First ROCKY BALBOA, then RAMBO, then DEATH WISH, now hopefully this. Next should be HUNTER and INGLORIOUS BASTARDS with Schwarzenegger.
-
He might need a push on this one. If he calls you - tell him to do it. Hell - call him and tell him to do it!
-
Would love to see Stallone directed by Scorsese. Show people what he can do. Haven't been a big fan of the Scorsese-Dicaprio collaborations, but put Stallone in the mix and I'm there.
-
This would be huge for Sly's career right now and it would be preferable in my opinion that he does this instead of Death Wish. A role with Dicaprio in a Scorsese film could really put Sly back on the map and give him a greater freedom in what he chooses to do.
-
Your career would be in major renaissance. I know ABKing, you think he's already there. But this would push it over the top. Sly, the fanboys are there, so just sign the papers already. And Support the Writers.
-
HARRY!! CALL HIM AND SAY THAT YOU WILL SUCK HIS GENITALIA, hell, I will suck his brasciola if he starts in a scorcese movie...

What was the last good Stallone film, before Rocky Balboa?
by the dum guy
I think it would've been Demolition Man.I hope he becomes A-list material again, then maybe when Arnold gets tired of politicking, they'll finally team up... maybe as retired cops.
-
Ok then.
Good career move for Stallone, wtf career move for Scorsese. -
What happened with Stallone working on Franz Werfel's The FOrty Days of Musa Dagh?
-
pick up the phone man!!

What happened with Stallone working on Franz Werfel's The FOrty Days of Musa Dagh?

I just can't believe how this talkback is so utterly filled with intelligence!
WOW!!!
As long as Mr Gray keeps sending his wise knowledge our way! -
Douche.
-
then sign for "Inglorious Bastards", then "Death Wish" (even if I for one, am not really looking forward to this one, it's your call, heh?) then bring home the oscars with "Poe". Any reasonable person would say the same thing. Scorses + Stallone = MUST SEE
-
Please.
-
Oh, wait, it is.....
-
Why hasn't this douche bag been banned yet? Fuck Harry, I know you love taking it up the ass, but are you really going to take it from G@briel Gr@y??

There are worse things than being in a Scorsese flick. Lots of them. Hell, they finally gave him a directing Oscar! The guy has talent. It just might work.
-
And I believe it's spelled 'DELETED' you EE-DE-OT!!
-
get a life u moron!!
-
this is fucking kick ass! sly is perfect for that role and he could be great opposite leo. i love how this one is coming together. lehane's book is a must-read!
-
Hey, I just Got here. What did this person say?
By the way, it always amazed me how intelligent Stallone sounded in interviews and on talk shows, juxtaposed with the crap movies he found himself in. -
We (the TBers) don't ban you. Nope. Not us. We don't run the site. That would be someone else. I think you know who. They do it all the time to people just like you. "IGNORANT TALENTLESS KIDDY FIDDLER"?? Hey, you found some humor! Go on wit yo bad sef! Alas. I don't play the violin or golf.
-
Why all The Departed hate all of the sudden? I swear, a movie wins the Big One and suddenly you guys turn your noses up at it.
It thought this was a site for film geeks, not Cannes!
Stallone has the chops for some really good work, love Scorcese, can't wait to see if this pans out! -
What those two would really be perfect for is a buddy picture, maybe one based on Mira and his Black Box.
-
Bub-bye, G@be.

WHAT!?!?! STALLONE DIDN'T KISS MARTY'S ASS ALREADY?!?
by bringingsexyback
No offense to Sly BUT ...
When Scorcese offers Stallone a role, Stallone better drop everything and French kiss the ground Marty is walking on, no questions asked. Cameo as janitor? No problem Mr. Scorcese, I'll do it for free.
Holy wow. He hasn't said yes? Maybe he took too many real punches in the Rocky movies. -
was better than Gangs of New York, which was a fairly good if disjointed movie that tried to cover too much history. That being said (typed) I would take Martin S. weakest effort over Michael Bay or Brett Ratner's shite any day.
-
Don't get me wrong, I thought Gangs of New York and The Aviator were two of Marty's weakest efforts (if not for Daniel "God of the Screen" Day-Lewis's performance, I would've walked out of Gangs).
But The Departed is solid gold. Marty deserved the Oscar, hands down. -
Seriously, I'd be so jazzed to see what sort of character and performance you would give us working with Marty.
-
He forgot to pick up batteries. What a loser. Shut the fuck up. Scorcese filming toilet rot would be better than anything you can come up with you fucking bastard son of a truckstop whore. Filthy fucking useless filthy fuck. Even your vibrating vagina hates you. You are worthless. Yes I am repeating what your mother said. Good night.
-
Maybe I'll 'BELIEVE' you. Hey! Look! Humor!! wow.
-
wasn't with Scorcese but with Edward Zwick in Blood Diamond. If someone had told me beforehand DiCaprio was going to do a movie with an Africaaner accent, I woulda saved my ticket price. But damn he pulled that off in an Oscar caliber performance. Check it out if you haven't already.
-
Fantastic film, hilariously funny (in parts) everytime you watch it. Had a bunch of plot holes, but that's partially due to the original Infernal Affairs and Bill Monahan's script. Scorcese did his best with what was given and he elevated it with his inimitable style.
-
Who the fuck is G@briel Gr@y? What did he say?
-
Can't blame him for that.
-
Serious dramatic Stallone
-
He really was great. Too bad his name was Gabriel ...
-
Stallone would have to be nuts not to take this role. Stallone, prove to us you are not nuts man.
-
Scorsese's people have already denied everything. Harry's report is dead wrong:
http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Stallone-For-Shutter-Island-Rumor-Is-A-Hoax-6895.html -
Again what happened? What did this Gabriel guy do?
-
but he followed up with Daylight. The man is totally hit and miss with the scripts ...
-
Get Sly on the cell and ask him man!!!
-
Gets better every time I watch it. Stallone should deff do this movie
-
I think Sly was asked why he never did a movie with Arnold back during the Balboa Q&As ... I believe he said they (the major action stars of the time - Stallone, Arnold, Willis, etc.) were in a competing mode against each other and their egos were too great to do a movie together. Something to that effect. Looking back though, it would have been awesome given the right story and script.

Still gives me da chillz. -
Stallone can act, but have you looked at him lately?
-
This GaberialG@y dude posted like 300 times, mulitple posts, the same crap over and over. Just begging to be banned.
-
fucking tell us already what Gabe said.
-
Nicholson is atrocious. It's a testament to Marty's skill that the film is as good as it is with such a horrible, self-indulgent perfromance.
-
Sorry everyone
I was commenting on someone that posted a bunch of stuff that has since been removed
With that idiotic stuff removed I must look like an asshole
Sorry...
Someone posted some dumb stuff that has since been removed
I didn't mean to insult anyone who posted here -
what are you, nuts? gotta take this, will elevate your game to an unparalleled level.
-
No, my link is the truth and Harry just updated his story to admit it. Of course he gave no credit to the site in my link.
-
The real story came from
here
Stallone has nothing to do with Shutter Island. -
Thanks Harry for not confirming the story
-
I see Harry's still stuck in 1990.
-
Suckas!!!!
-
Stallone is a damn fine actor, despite his film choices. Just look at Copland and the last scene in First Blood. Imagine him and DeCaprio opposite each other under Scorcese's wing? Holy shi'ite!!!
-
I watched it, I heard a few people claim the original was better while The Departed was in theatres so I checked it out. Anyway, ITS THE SAME FUCKING MOVIE. Except The Departed has better actors. People are such iconoclastic jackasses, there's no way anyone could logically think Infernal Affairs was the better film, unless they're asian and can't speak english.
-
Maybe reading the subtitles through you off, but Infernal Affairs was, IMO, the better movie. Firstly, its lead characters were more thoroughly fleshed out in showing their motivations. Especially Tony Leung's character. And it had fewer plotholes than The Departed (though not flawless). And the ending was less bang-bang satisfying, but more richly dramatic. By keeping Andy Lau alive, and effectively a redeemed person, it elevated Tony Leung's character immeasurably and gave layers of meaning to him.
So while I really enjoy The Departed because it's really Scorcese doing what he does best in every aspect of his talent, I give the overall nod to Infernal Affairs for its story and artistic merit. They're vastly different movies sharing the same basic plot. -
It's late and I have insomnia.
-
yeah, and also Infernal Affairs didn't have that stupid love triangle. Thats hollywood bullS@#%. The psychiatrist should have never been the wife of Damon's character nor should she have slept with DiCaprio. Why do they always need things like that in hollywood movies? I swear, no taste.
-
Except Infernal Affairs was first, and is the original, therefore should be better credited.
-
Imagine if Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro took on the roles of the crime lord and the police captain which ultimately went to Jack Nicholson and Martin Sheen. Now that would've been a much better movie in my opinion. Also they should have kept the ending from the original movie and allowed the Matt Damon character to have survived.
-
Maybe this talkback will inspire Scorsese to think about Stallone in the role. Stallone's acting in the final sequence of First Blood, where he breaks down, is some of the best I've ever seen and I've seen it all!

Remember when Yahoo News claimed Andy Kaufman was alive?
by thenorthlander
I trust facts on Yahoo News as much as I trust "facts" on IMDb and Fox News.
Still, Stallone and Scorsese would be a cool match. -
There are only a few good actors in America who transcend generations: Stallone, William Shatner,Clancy Brown, Toby Maguire. Leonardo Di Caprio is not one of them. DiCaprio is so over rated. Any acting ability that he had was lost under the destructive eye of Scorsese. I have alwys been suspicious pf Scorsese after his inability to get a good performance out of Daniel Day Lewis, who is ususally bombproof. Stallone transcends these 2 clowns of DiCaprio and Scorsese. Scorsese only ever made one good movie. All the rest of it is mafiaporn. Stallone is a national treasure, too good for thiose clowns.
-
Since when did reporting a RUMOUR become newsworthy? And for the record, Stallone can BARELY act. If he could act, he'd be in a darn sight more movies where he doesn't tear someone's head off as a character trait. And yeh, Scorsese hasn't made a decent flick in a looong time. The Departed was ruined the instant they stepped out of the lift at the end and that cop from nowhere tells them he was in with them all along and I swear you can hear the audience go 'what the fxxk?'. Bullshit hack storytelling is what I believe it's called - something Scorsese is getting good at. I dunno, maybe Scorsese and Stallone deserve one another.
-
...is the talent to pick decent projects. That means choosing good scripts, talented directors, and a good supporting or ensemble cast. This is something actors like Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp excel at, and something Stallone desperately lacks. In the thirty plus years Stallone has been in the biz, I can only imagine the roles he has rejected while instead choosing to make films like Oscar, Judge Dredd, Stop or My Mom will Shoot, Driven, Get Carter, and on and on. He has talent as an actor, but absolutely no barometer for picking decent projects. It's hit and miss with him, more miss than hit. I think he's lasted because people keep waiting for him to finally stop making ego-driven star vehicles where he gets to beat people up or blow shit up, and start making decent choices as an actor.
-
Uhm... No.
-
I can't spell Scorsese. I'm an ass. Sorry, Marty. Please don't, you know... have me whacked or something. And if you do, please just not by Pesci. Motherfucker scares the green shit outta me.
-
gott-damn slack jawed faggits!
-
to deliver a solid performance, I love to see this happen.
-
If you don't like that movie, you're a homosexual. Plain and simple.
-
I'm sick of seeing that little pussy cry in movies. Give me stallone alone pumping some pure mansterone back into theaters again, thanks.

Scorsese was the greatest director alive until...
by major_tom_aint_dead
-
until he got Oscar fever. His last great movie is quite underrated: Bringing Out the Dead (anything with both Scorsese and Schrader in the credits is real gold). After that, he got Oscar fever and Leo fever and tough The Departed is wachtable I cant see the director from Taxi Driver or Raging Bull behing that pile of...whatever those fucking Leo movies were.
I´ll never understand why Scorsese wanted a fucking Oscar so badly when the best directors never ever won the fucking thing (at least, not as best director).
But I confess: Scorsese + Stallone sounds an interesting pairing (they had a cameo together in a Corman film ages ago), even if Leo, Whoppi Goldberg and Jim Carrey co-star, I would end seeing it. -
Senseless, without any logic, practically COMEDIC by the end... (why don't you just arrest Nicholson? you've got plenty of evidence... "we're building a case!"...oh) Scorcese hasn't made a decent movie in well over a decade, and his DiCaprio collaborations have each been worst than the last. Shutter Island is an entertaining book, but it basically revolves around a single, sixth-sense-like plot point which, if you see it coming, takes all enjoyment out of the read.
-
i know of one or two practicing homosexuals who rather enjoyed The Departed. i did too, whilst not being in the bum camp. what does that do to your stance?
-
has been the weakest element in the last three Scorsese films, hasn't he? what a shame that Martin keeps casting him, he obviously sees something that we do not. oh well, as long as keeps Jack Black out of the cinema, i will go along with whatever it is.
-
I continue to question why Scorsese uses him in every movie. The only movie of MS' he was good in was The Aviator.
-

I thought that Scorsese was remaking GILLIGAN'S ISLAND...
by thegreatwhatzit
Adrien Brody as Gilligan, Sammo Hung as the Skipper...with Stallone and Sharon Stone reuniting as the Howells (though Stone may a bit too old for the role, better can the close-ups).
-
And Infernal Affairs is a snoozefest compared to The Departed.
-
right?
-
Thanks for the laugh dude.
-
The man has proven himself in my book. And all this Scorsese hate is starting to piss me the fuck off. Show some respect, motherfuckers.
-
it's all true! highly entertaining flick... completely filled w/ senseless plot holes...
-
when you're facing a loaded gun, what's the difference ?
-
no offense, leo.
-
1. Taxi Driver 2. Raging Bull 3. King of Comedy
-
One of Scorcese's underrated masterpieces. But a masterpiece nonetheless. If you're in the proper (melancholic) mood, watching it can make you feel like your soul is being drained.
-
Who cares who is in the movie. With Scorsese creating a movie from an excellent book by Dennis Lehane, it will be a great movie ever if Casey Affleck was the leasd!!
-
I really need to proof read before I post
-
This is a great book! But I think that the two main characters are closer in age then DeCaprio and Stallone are. Anyway I hope it gets made.
-
If you've read the book, there's no way Sly could play Chuck. For that matter, Leo is too baby-faced for the lead. I'm a big fan of Laura with Dana Andrews as the world-weary cop investigating the murder. I saw that kind of lead for Shutter Island. Plus, a hardboiled detective makes the last act all the more stunning. So, I have doubts about Leo and absolutely knew there was NO WAY Stallone had the Chuck role.
-
Yeah this was a great book but I would have thought it impossible to film. Those who have read it will know what I mean. Bit like Iain Bank's 'User of Weapons'. Relies on you not being able to see what is happenning.
-
Stallone occasionally turns in a good perfomance, but the guy looks so pathetic and bloated now that I can't take him seriously. Saw the new Rambo trailer this weekend. Looked awful. Stallone's face is more swollen now than it was at the end of Rocky II.
-
There's no reason why he can't act in one movie while putting one of his own together.
-
Stallone has the talent to work with a legend like Marty. The man had great performances in Rocky, Rocky Balboa, Copland, Night Hawks and First Blood. He is like the one action star that can truly act. He's been underrated for years. I am already in line bitches if he decides to go for it.
