Marlyn Manson to record song for SCREAM 3'

Published at:  Apr 19, 1999 3:01:56 AM CDT

This should be taken as a RUMOR, as I haven't been able to confirm this story yet... been trying the last 3 days though, but on a tip like this... 2 people in a poster shop.... Well, ya know... it's a bit tough to get that second source. Hmmmm.... Manson recording THE DOPE SHOW eh? Could be cool... We'll see...

Well Marilyn Manson is in my town playing at a local college
"Cleveland State". I work at a Movie Poster store about a half hour
away from the concert.

Well around 3 O'clock yesterday I get a phone call at work asking for
directions to the store coming from a the Ritz Carlton. So I start
thinking, why would someone from the Ritz want to come here? Then
about a hour later Manson walks in. He wears sunglasses and a
Baseball hat to hide his identity. Well he starts to look around the
store and then finds what he was looking for. A "Mall Rats" poster.

He comes up to the register and pays. He says "Love the movie, but I
hate Ben Affleck." Then I told I'm what a fan I am of his work and
what an honor it is to meet him. He acts very nice so I ask him what
he is currently working on.

He told me that he is going to redo "The Dope Show" for the "Scream
3" soundtrack. He said that Master P will be producing it, he then
rolled his eyes. He said that the version of the "Dope Show" for
Scream 3 would be more like the MTV Music Awards version.

    Why bother

    by nordling

I could rant about how much MM gurgles the sperm, but it's almost 6 in the morning, I'm running late for work, and who cares, really? The Scream people should have gotten Alice Cooper - why go for the lowest common denominator?

    Saw Him in Dallas

    by american psycho

I went and saw the March 23 Dallas show....whether or not you care for manson's music, it is undebatable that the guy puts on a helluva good goddamn show. He changed costumes between every song, rubbed his ass in a cop's face, and got about 10,000 angry Dallasites to flip off the cops. The music was great, crystal clear, and the stage setting changed with each song too. Anyway, i just wanted to cut off all the MANSON IS A FAG posts by saying he's a good entertainer, you don't have to agree with his music.

    by uncle cracky

I agree, he does put on a good show, but ever since his transition into the whole "David-Bowie-I'm-a-shemale-from-space" routine, his music has gone horribly stale. 'Antichrist Superstar' was a masterpiece; I guess no matter what he did next it wouldn't have measured up. Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted, Brian.

    Manson/Screem 3

    by brian a thomas

This, coming from the home town of Manson (his old HS is right down the street here), where it is cold as heck right now. Okay, just becouse the Screem 3 people are using Manson doesn't mean that it will be the main song. He very well could be just on the soundtrack and the second song in the end credits ala Matrix, or just featured in the background as the kids goto a dance club or something.
As for Screem 3, now there is a whole other issue. Nice to see the trilogy finally finish off, I still think the dad is ultimly involved somehow...

    by bill mulder

Manson's best album was Mechanical Animals no Antichrist but thats another topic not Scream 3 music. Id personally like to hear a remix of the song in Scream 3. Anyone ever hear the other soundtracks to those movies. They suck. Even good bands put their lousiest songs on the Scream movies. I think its a rule. Love him or hate him Marilyn Manson would probably be the band ever on a Scream soundtrack.

    4 Words-Who Gives A Shit?

    by brado

I saw Marilyn Manson during the Antichrist Superstar days on the Ozzfest '97 tour. What's the big deal? Not only was it foul musically, but the performance lacked as well-"cut myself (Iggy Pop), grab myself (Michael Jackson), shred a Bible (want a list?)." Besides, they were totally blown out of the arena by Pantera, a FAR superior band in every sense. I don't see how a warmed-over version of a subpar song by this wannabe group will benefit Scream 3 in any way. We're all gonna go to see Neve get slashed to bits, not listen to a tired Master P remix of a shitty dirge. You want an appropriate song? How about "I'm Broken"?

A Few Moments With Scream 3- Part 1

    by vincent vega

Why bother fuckin' remaking the dumb song, just, ummm, use the one you have now? Don't waste your time Manson. Personally, I semi like Mason, I realize he's a fraud, and I hate his earlier albums, but he seems more refined now. I hate that new Rock Is Dead single, but I love I Don't Like the Drugs (but the drugs like me). I don't understand why that song would be on the soundtrack. Now on to Scream 3 as a hole. Well, we already now this will the last of the series. So in my opinion bitch must die, 'bitch' being Sydney. Dewey will be the killer, I know this for a fact. I'll tell you how, he's been 'almost' killed in every other movie right? So it would be logical that one day he says fuck this, I'm killing everyone! Now, on to plot, I hear they're taking Sid to hollywood, DON'T DO THAT! Son Of Chucky is doing that. Many other horror films are doing that, so you can't. Also, I want to hear a story about how dumb part 3 always is, then I want someone to say, 'but Nightmare part 3 was cool.' Then I want that person to be killed. Personally, I would watch more Scream's just to watch them wine about how bad sequels are. And that's exactly why I love Part 2 of Scream, because I'm constintly watching horror sequels, so it's great to hear someone talk aobut them. Plus, all Scream's will have a place in my heart, for they brought the formula to the masses. But I must say, people keep saying they talked about the formula while breaking it, and that's shit. As a horror psycho myself, I can honestly say they followed 65% of the formula, a girl hero, the girl is a 'good girl' (and I don't wanna here that she's wasn't a virgin shit because she was still a good girl), and they killed off a 'bad girl' Rose McGowen. Plus the plot acknowledges the fact that it might a well be Prom Night 5 (and I don't wanna here that homage shit, because it wasn't), so as for the originality of Scream, it wasn't original, at all. But it was good. Becaus it exposed Horror to people who didn't watch it alot, it brought horror back to the people. And let's put it this way, you guys keep saying 'fuck this teen horror shit I want Cider House Rules', well let's just say no Scream no Cider House, horror would still be a bunch of Friday the 13th sequels. And none of these high brow horror films coming out have Jason in them, so people, let's thank Scream because for all the bad films that have come after it, there will be some good ones because of it to. Thank you Scream. I want to here you all say it now, say it, thank you Scream, and I for one, will be there opening day (December 10th) for Mr. Ghostface's (Dewey) next outing. HAIL KEVIN WILLIAMSON. So when you post on talkback saying how stupid Kevin is, and how dumb Iam for liking him and his movies, I just don't give a fuck. HAIL WES CRAVEN.

    Manson's home town

    by docbosch

What exactly is his home town? People down here say this is where he's from. They say that he lived in Margate Florida or some near by city. A guy that lives near my aunt and cousin says he knew him, and the guy has also talked to my best friend. My cousin says that one of his proffesors is the father of one of mansons friends, or one of his band members, or maybe even Mansion, I don't remeber right now. My friend even says that Manson used to work at the food court at the Broward Mall. So is he really from down here, (south florida, close to Ft. Lauderdale) or is this just something people say?

    Reason why Manson hates Affleck...

    by hal9000

Manson stated on the Howard Stern radio program that during the filming of Going All The Way and Phantoms, Ben Affleck repeatedly tried to get into Rose's panties. As you may or may not know, Ms. Mcgowan is currently engaged to Marilyn Manson, so it would be natural to assume that he would harbor some hostility. Personally, I think his music is horrible.

    Ben Affleck

    by pipsorcle

Actually, Ben Affleck doesn't do entirely commercial films (big budget features like Forces of Nature and Armageddon). He has parts in "Shakespeare in Love" and the upcoming "Dogma" (and other features which I didn't mention), which I wouldn't necessarily classify on the "commercial" side. I believe Ben loves film and that just because he does pictures like Armageddon, doesn't mean he'll do mainstream movies forever. However, I really don't like his choice of commercial features the slightest bit. Matt Damon seems to be wiser than Affleck on that level. I always thought Affleck's role in "Chasing Amy" was a fresh one for him and I always pictured him in that, thinking in the feature that he'd create more interesting characters with a lot more depth than his A.J. character in "Armageddon". I really don't pay attention to the way he acts in real life, but in terms of his movie career, I really don't like him being pictured as this cute guy from Armageddon. With Affleck's part on writing "Good Will Hunting" (not to mention his role as well) and "Chasing Amy", he should be remembered for these roles as well.

Marilyn Manson and The Dope Show

    by jj_gittes

Does master p have to get his grubby paws into everything? i guess like manson he forsees a merging of rock and rap. would this remake be a rap remix with a heavy bass line? What would be better is a techno-like remix. Or something along the lines of "the long hard road out of hell" that he did with the sneaker pimps for the spawn soundtrack. I also recently saw manson perform in detroit and it was a fuckin show! He did everything he did in dallas and more. Even if you dont like his music it would be worth it just to go see him for the performance.

    MM - what a tool.

    by pdaddy

MM is a phony, plain and simple. He is capitalizing on the misery of American youth. He is taking all of the fucked up - the youth that has been physically OR mentally abused (which is a depressingly high number)- and ENCOURAGING them to act out. This is bullshit. His music makes ( a good portion of) his fans wallow in the shit that their respective parents dumped on them - instead of promoting anything better or healing any wounds. Jackass. Meanwhile, while these kids get into cutting themselves and the like, Manson is reaping in the fuckin' dough. Do you MM fans actually thinks that he behaves like he portrays himself as being in his life off the stage or in his life away from the cameras??? NO!!! It's a FUCKING SHOW!!!! AND HE'S A FUCKING PHONY!!!!!!

    RE: Manson's Home Town

    by brian a thomas

Manson was raised in Canton, Ohio. Went to a local private Christian school, and then went to a public High School. He then moved to Florida. I don't know if he graduated from here, or in Florida. I am sure his biography (where he says despite the fact he has sex with guys, he isn't gay) has more details.

    Interesting

    by angry

Well, I never really liked Marilyn Manson's music, but it seems like Mechanical Animals is becoming a bit more like REAL music, not that "GRRRR! FEAR ME! LET'S TRY TO SCARE PEOPLE" bullshit his earlier albums were made of. Like, Rock is Dead is a pretty damn cool tune. Anyhew, what I don't like, is the people that seem to go around, thinking he's god and the perfect example of everything people should be (mostly all them freaky "goth" teenagers that I have to go to school with). It's like they are ready to blindly follow him anywhere he tells 'em to go, and I seriously don't think that can be a healthy thing. And, now that he's stopping all the "Let's scare people" crap, it seems like his popularity is starting to die. Like, the shock factor has worn off and he's gonna actually try to do something honest now. Either he's gonna go sell girl scout cookies and become a Block Parent, or he'll eventually get back to his roots and promote being "weird" and make bad music again.

    My two cents on Manson

    by cosmo brown

I can understand why some people don't like Manson, but you shouldn't dislike him for his behavior. He's an entertainer. He just does what he does to make some money and entertain America. I saw him in Los Angeles with Hole (Hole's last date on the tour, where Manson broke his ankle and cancelled the concert early). He put on one of the greatest stage shows ever, and was very entertaining. I personally can't wait until the remix, even though the film probably won't be too good.

Mason's better than Britney Fake-Tits Spears

    by tall_boy

personally, I hate the BSB, Britney Spears, N'Sync-up-my-ass pop craze crapola that's taking over north american culture. Rap? Too much "YO! I'LL CAP YO ASS THEN BANG MAH HOES AS AH DO CRACK!" for my tastes (but some of it is good. Puff Daddy is awright, DMX & ODB had a nice cut on the South Park album) So, Manson is a cool rock star when time rock is in one of its periodic embrionyic stages (mark my words, five years, max, rock will come back with another mutation and blow everybody away. Again.) Besides, anbody who hangs with the Smashing Pumpkins is cool in my book. (Ever hear the Smashing Pumpkins & Marilyn Manson version of "Eye"? too f-in' sweet) PS- Courtney Love is a no talent slut who should respect the rock stars who tower above her, ie. Billy Corgan and Marilyn Manson. Kurt was way too good for her, the dirty skank. . .

First of all, as someone semi-religious, I find the point that Manson has is a vaild one, about minions of othadoxy in religion, etc. HOWEVER, the dude, never, EVER, said "Dress like me, etc." those are kids who want to emulate him. #2. Manson's religious stance comes in a DISTANT second to what he really is about, a statment on our pop-culture OD'ing society. Why do you think he picked "Marilyn" and "Manson" as his namesake? His point (and it has shite-all to do with religion) is that our society is so fucked up to the point where it can create "Marilyn Monroes" AND "Charles Mansons" all under the same roof. Get it? Its a statement about us, not just a big ole "FUCK YOU EVERYBODY" (which is a part of it, though, not denying it) This is comming from a guy who doesn't own a Manson album, but trust me, you're just being a flaming troll there, Fox. Lane,

I'll be the first to agree with you there. That Conservatives and Religousd types help build up people like Manson. I have been in a argument with many conservtive over how to deal with it. (Usally on the side of ignoring him and hell just go away...But I seem to lose those arguments alas...) The thing that sticks in my craw are those who insult the Catholic faith JUST to get thier work notice. This has been my beef with Dogma and with some extent MM. Yet the ignoring issue works (Why do you think oliver stones carrer is in the crapper eh?) but I will debate what I see bltant hypocrites oin pop-culture. a book that dives very deeply in to this subject is Michael Medved's "Hollywood Vs. America" it goes into this quite well....

Oh Yes Note top kryto. I did not =ring up religion lane did

Too good to be a sequel... guess we know what not to expect out of the next Crow movie.)

Well, Lane, youve proved me wrong. I used to say that no one over the age of sixteen liked MM but i guess there are some people out there that do. Anyway, please dont compare MM to Cobain (someone did, maybe not you Lane, but i just skimmed the posts). Cobain was the coolest pop star of this shitty decade because he was honest. He was a real musician who just happened to be good enough to get rich and famous. And he hated being rich and famous. Every other pop star of the decade (except Eddie Veddar) WANTED to get famous. MM loves being famous and his entire act is just an attempt to be famous. Strip him of his act and theres no way his music is good enough to warrant the level of fame he achieved. Maybe it was cool in the 70s with KISS, but stupid novelty acts are just cheap, insincere, and falt out insulting now. How anyone can pay MM's salary and sleep well at night is beyond me.

    We're All Stars Now

I know that if MAR1LYN MAN5ON does do the Dope Show remix, it will be good. I have like 18 of his albums right now, and they have all have had very good songs on them. I do not worship MAR1LYN, but I do think that he is a VERY good singer. I would like people to see him as a person who expresses himself through his music. People can say whatever they want because everyone is entitled to their own opion. But, they do not have to be SO ignorant about him. People who think they can knock other people down by words just suck! AND, if anyone wants to argue about this, e-mail me because I like to hear other peoples thinkings of MAN5ON.
