THE SLAMMIN' SALMON is on deck from the funny folks at Broken Lizard!!!

Published at:  Nov 01, 2007 7:23:33 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Yep, I sure do love Broken Lizard. Their stuff makes me laugh, even CLUB DREAD.

Their next flick looks to be called THE SLAMMIN’ SALMON and it’s going to be directed not by Jay Chandrasekhar, who has done all the Broken Lizard movies up until this point, but Farva himself: Mr. Kevin Heffernan.

All the Broken Lizard team will star in the flick about a former heavy weight champ who starts a restaurant and pits his employees against each other ala GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS.

Even though they have a deal at Warners, they’ve raised the coin for the flick independently so they can quickly get it into production. Hopefully this is a return to form to the awesomeness that is SUPER TROOPERS. I love their other stuff, but that’s where the bar is set for me as a fan.

What do you folks think?

Weren't they going to make a movie set in Greece?

    by brokentusk

I'd much rather see that than a film about "a former heavy weight champ who starts a restaurant and pits his employees against each other". Still, BEER FEST was hilarious (in a retarded way) so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Oh, and I want to see POT FEST as well.

    I loved supertroopers

    by dodgy

and I'm not ashamed to say it. The whole scene with the dope kids getting pulled over had me in tears of mirth. Their other movies as good? I heard they weren't great, so stayed away....

The What Folks and the Who Now?

Oh wait, the first guy got it. Well, maybe everyone will forget that by the time they glaze over the off-topic CHUD cut-and-paste job directly above me.

How does these unfunny, untalented men keep making unpopular films?

Supertroopers is one of the funniest movies around. Club Dread was truly awful (is it supposed to be funny? is it supposed to be scary?) but Beerfest wasn't THAT bad.

They're the Shyamalan of the comedy world. Here's hoping that this new one doesn't suck.

The more you watch Broken Lizard movies, the funnier they get. And Beerfest was brilliant.

Broken Lizard making a Fish Market Movie? Cool!

    by stereotypical evil archer

I see potential, I mean who's ever made a movie about those guys that throw fish? So here's something original! Not an adaptation! Not a remake! This is why we go to the movies!

I actually think Broken Lizard has improved

    by mactard420

with every movie. Super Troopers is not that funny, it's got a couple good lines with Farva. I liked Club Dread a lot, but it is probably for the horror fans more. And I thought Beerfest was pretty funny too, even though it needed more Germans! I haven't and will never watch Dukes of Hazzard...should this even count as a Broken Lizard movie?

God someone needs to tell these guys...

    by series7

that not every stupid joke they think of needs to be in a movie, I swear to Alah that I started Beerfest at like 9PM and finished it around 6AM, that movie was god awful long. Like it could have been two movies. They need a third party going umm yeah this whole hour and a half we don't really need, you tube has already covered most of those jokes. There movies are funny but they miss being classic because they don't edit. Even super troopers starts to lag towards the end.

    Beer Fest was suprisingly hilarious.

    by modlight

I loved Super Troopers, but Club Dread was club dreadful, so I wasn't expecting much, but Beer Fest had me dying.

How much skunkweed have you been smoking

    by skimn

and cheap beer have you been drinking? SuperTroopers is funny for what it is, but the rest of their comeidies are funny only if your are drunk on your ass and stoned stupid. I swear their "acting" and "directing" gives amateur a good name. I will admit that Beerfest makes Artie Lange's Beer League look like Shakespeare, and that Jay Chandrasekhar has honed his directing skills on Arrested D, Undeclared and Andy Ritcher Controls...so why does his work with the Lizard just sit there for me? The funniest I have ever seen him is when he co-hosted Attack Of The Show, looking like a deer in headlights, as wooden as a 2 by 4.

SUPER TROOPERS is hilarious. CLUB DREAD is forgettable. THE DUKES OF HAZZARD is mediocre/bad. BEERFEST is funny and gets funnier each time you see it.

    Broken Reno

    by spectre007

Broken Lizard is kind of like the Reno 911 guys. Some people worship them, others think they suck. Funny comparison as well, since Tom Lennon totally stole the idea of Super Troopers for Reno. Has that guy EVER written something clever?

Why do they make you laugh Quint?

    by elgordo

What is it in their humor that makes you giggle? Is it their faces? The fact that they got a couple of fat guys? Because it sure can't be their jokes. And surely you can't say that I don't get it because their humor isn't sophisticated enough to rise above long bursts of burping to make one of their patented "classic scenes".
Every single film they've made has been DOA in the humor department. The funniest thing about Super Troopers was the trailer. Club Dread was awfull and Beerfest was painfully un funny.
Maybe they should do more fart jokes. I like fart jokes.
