Meryl Streep stealing Dan Aykroyd's thunder? Seriously, this should be his role...
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. If you're reading this, you're probably confused. Why the headline? In what possible world would Meryl Streep be in a role that should rightfully go to Dan Aykroyd? In this crazy insane upside down world, I tells ya'.
Meryl Streep will be playing Julia Child in a flick called JULIA & JULIA for Columbia, co-starring Amy Adams as a wannabe cook. Right now, Aykroyd is the definitive Child.
It's based on a book by Julia Powell about a temp secretary who decides to cook all 524 recipes from Child's book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."
Nora Ephron is writing the adaptation and directing.
Adams is gorgeous and Streep is great, but I'm telling you... this could use a big spoonful of Aykroyd!

Um. Is this serious, or was this the only joke you could make out of this? Aykroyd did that skit 30 years ago, at least half of the readers dont even understand the reference.
-
Three times over the past ten hours or so, old stories have been popping up on the main page. I just got done reading a Watchmen casting story, and realized it was from last summer. What gives?
-
And even I know that Aykroyd is Julia Childs. Hilarious skit, by the way.
-
That's what I was afraid of.
-
I'm in agreement witih Nivek666 on this one, I remmber the skit clearly, but I didnt find the reference to SNL funny, maybe barely a chuckle and Im sure a lot of folks wont even get the joke to begin with i.e RICARLEITE 2 posts bove me..

they are making a Dr. Katz the movie!!! Awesome! I didn't really read the article, I just saw the words Meryl Streep and I fell alseep.
-
I was a year old during that SNL time period, and I got the reference. I also chuckled at it. What's wrong with a reference everyone doesn't get, especially one that the kiddies don't get? Damn kids with their hair and their clothes and the rock and roll music! The world doesn't always have to revolve around 16 to 25 year olds...

Dan Aykroyd gotta eat.
-
In her biography she said the skit was hilarious. He even had the "save the liver, SAVE-THE-LIVER" bit.
-
As great a cook as Julia was, she never took herself seriously. One of the rare chefs who actuall deserves the respect she's given.
-
Couldn't they cast Kathy Bates instead?
-
She's hot in a stupid sorta way. My kinda lady.
-
That all ended when he assumed the form of a large and moving Torb.
-
Wow! Imagine the box office! I'll bet the movie grosses hundreds of dollars.
-
Joan Cusack was set to play this part originally and this could have been a much more offbeat and interesting film with her involvement. Does Streep have to be in EVERYTHING?!

Shubs and Zools!
Don't know what happened to Moranis, but my sister (who's an actress in NYC) once waited on him during her day job and said he was a rude shit. Maybe bad karma finally caught up with him?
Honey, I shrunk my chakra!

...is a singer now.

... True, the world doesn't have to revolve around the likes of a 16 to 25 year old such as myself, but this one was pretty damn obscure. AICN loves typecasting actors with their old roles, but this was stretching.

"During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"Oh, and don't forget "Tobin's Spirit Guide". Choice.

spurt spurt spurt...classic!

They should fire her stupid, untalented ass. Get rid of these sickly female "writer/Directors" and get someone who doesn't have to sleep their way to the top of the shitpile!!
-
Yes, moohoohaha. You, you and--YOU!--will be spirited to a movie theatre, at the insistence of your wife or girlfriend, to agonize through two hours of Streep. You know you're in trouble when your "girl" laughs hysterically at the trailer and you're stone faced...you sweat, choke and experience your first ulcer when it dawns upon you that you'll inevitably have to watch the entire movie. As for SNL, who cares? It's about as funny as nuclear wastes wrapped in Christmas tissue.
-
That's an obscure reference!

Why is she the only one in Hollywood who can make a decent chick flick? It's like she's her own little cottage industry. Do no other females work behind the camera? As soon as you hear about any chick flick, you are sure to hear the name Ephron attached.
This movie is going to make stupid mad money. It's going to make its young female lead a big star. -
good luck

Instant oscar contender!

buncha no chick-getting misanthropic nerds weighing in on a Nora Ephron movie. Fucking pathetic.
