AICN Games: Steve Wiebe Autographed Wii Contest Winner! And more!

Published at:  Oct 29, 2007 7:33:49 AM CDT

Greetings humans, Monki here with my long overdue winners for the Wii autographed by Mr. King of Kong himself, Steve Wiebe.

I received a wide variety of videos, from the absurd to the sweet...picking a winner from the entire group was pretty difficult, but I'm happy with the way it turned out.

I'll go ahead and announce the winner now and highlight a few others I thought were fantastic.

So, without stalling any longer, I'd like to present the winner of the contest, Mr. Alrik Bursell (or rather, his father Kaare) who sends in this video of himself talking with his dad about growing up and gaming together. Congratulations Alrik.

A father playing Tron and Lode Runner with his kids...that is pretty awesome. I hope you and your family can enjoy the console together like you did when you were children.

Alright, for a few runner-ups. On a personal level, I was really blown away by this next submission from Steven Yau. He beat the original Ninja Gaiden without dieing and caught it all on tape. Apparently he demolished the Twin Galaxies record and is hoping to be recognized for that. With that being said, I present to you, Ninja Gaiden beaten in two minutes. (Fast forwarded.)

I don't know how many of you played the original Ninja Gaiden, but that game was insanely difficult...very impressive Steven.

And to showcase some of the entries that I received that were narrative based, I present to you the dangers of a loaded zapper brought to you by Dan...just Dan.

There you have it, thanks go out to all that entered, it certainly wasn't an easy choice!

As always, keep an eye out for more contests coming from AICN Games...I think we're working on something for my Wizard Reunion Screening, so keep an eye out for that. Until then though, back up the tree I go!

-Monki

I am stuck in between to first posts by the same person. So is he fist or third or both? I propose a tie for second.

    Wow...how....creative.....

    by whackmeyer

Wow, I don't mind losing a fun, creative contest, but there were several others on Youtube alone that would have been far less painful to lose to.
Heck, lots of us had Dads that played video games with us. We waited a month to hear about winners and then to find out we lost to this one. The guy seems nice enough and it's cool that his mom and dad played with them, but lots of us had parents who played alongside us. This contest seemed to urge creativity. Wha happened?
    Bummer.

There were a few good entries for this posted on Youtube. Look up "aicn wii entry." Surprising winner for this.

    AICN WII SUBMISSION on Youtube

    by whackmeyer

It should be "Aicn Wii Submission" on Youtube, not "entry."

    Sorry about that.

Old school Ninja Gaiden was not that difficult...

    by darthcorleone

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'm fairly certain I could beat it without losing a man back in the day.

    i find it sweet too...

    by wolvenom

that he was able to exploit his aging parents for a crappy contest. But i suppose if im not being cynical it was kind of heartwarming in strange geeky kind of way.
