Teresa Palmer, in your satin tights, fighting for your rights and the old Red, White & Blue... George Miller found our Amazon?

Published at: Oct. 26, 2007, 10:29 p.m. CST

Hey folks, Harry here - with the latest rumor on the part of WONDER WOMAN in the JUSTICE LEAGUE film. Seems that Teresa Palmer called a friend of hers to excitedly share the news that she's landed the part of WONDER WOMAN in George Miller's upcoming film. This according to These Folks - it seems that Teresa will also be fit for a black wig rather than be dyed black from her golden mane. Now she doesn't have the most amazing filmography - in fact - her first film was 2005's WOLF CREEK... and it wasn't a major role. But from there she's gone on to amazing films like THE GRUDGE 2 and DECEMBER BOYS... but it is often from such humble beginnings that we find our stars of tomorrow - and that's exactly what George Miller is working on with this film. To find a cast that he can develop and use again in future incarnations of the Justice League... as this is planned to be a series. How early is it in this girl's career? SO early that she hasn't had a decent magazine shoot for me to snab a pic to get y'all panting. But that's alright...

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. All the world's waiting for you, and the power you possess. In your satin tights, Fighting for your rights And the old Red, White and Blue. Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. Now the world is ready for you, and the wonders you can do. Make a hawk a dove, Stop a war with love, Make a liar tell the truth. Wonder Woman, Get us out from under, Wonder Woman. All our hopes are pinned on you. And the magic that you do. Stop a bullet cold, Make the Axis fall, Change their minds, and change the world. Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman. You're a wonder, Wonder Woman.

No, not when his shitty Ghostrider can crack 300 mil worldwide, I mean sure hate on a movie you haven't seen, read the script of or saw a single image of, as stupid as that is, but to think this will go straight to dvd is complete ignorance of how the world works. She could *maybe* pass as WW in 6" heels, but is she WW? Nope. If we had to have a "name" actress, how about Caterina Murino (from Casino Royale) - http://tinyurl.com/ywqpky Hell, she's even European (Italian...okay, not Greek, but she has the "look"...and she's 30!).

  • Oct. 26, 2007, 11:24 p.m. CST

    by deathbird

This miscasting (surely not the last) will undermine the film, no matter how laudable Miller's effort. Still, we should count ourselves lucky Peter Jackson came to this realization a decade ago, and switched to Viggo.

George Miller is going for the short, blonde Cathy Lee Crosby "Wonder Woman" in the star-spangled jumpsuit! We fanboys were just expecting the WRONG version of the character!!!<p>In light of this, casting Teresa Palmer as the Amazonian princess is pure GENIUS!!! :D

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 2:26 a.m. CST

I cant believe people keep bitching about height...

    by TheGhostWhoLurks

Too short and blonde, Palmer's almost as bad a casting decision as hiring Alba to play Invisible Girl.<p>Instead of wasting thousands of dollars and loads of time trying to convince audiences Palmer's a 6ft tall brunette, why not just hire one in the first place? Hollywood can't FIND one??? We all know that's a giant load of walrus poo.

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 2:35 a.m. CST

    Oh yeah...

    by TheGhostWhoLurks

There's a BIG difference between a 5'5" woman and a 5'9" woman, Wolvenom. 5'9" women are tall enough to be impressive just standing there. 5'5" are a dime a dozen and visually UNimpressive from a height standpoint.

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 2:36 a.m. CST

No, we're just "bitching" about his lame casting decisions.

    by TheGhostWhoLurks

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 2:36 a.m. CST

    LETS GET THIS STRAIGHT...

    by wolvenom

Would you rather a 5'5 tall blonde actress who can actually act the part of wonderwoman or a 6 foot tall brunette porno actress who can act the part of a porn star?

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 2:37 a.m. CST

you weren't at the casting session...

    by wolvenom

you have no idea what kind of awe inspiring cathartic reading she did for the part of wonderwoman

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 2:44 a.m. CST

    Don't recall mentioning porn stars...

    by TheGhostWhoLurks

Are they taller than other actresses???<p>I'd rather they simply hire someone tall enough to actually be considered an "Amazon," like they did with Lucy Lawless and Lynda Carter. It really ISN'T that hard to do.<p>And Teresa Palmer's resumé is minimal. She's not exactly in demand for her stellar acting abilities. I guarantee there's no shortage (pardon the pun) of other actresses with similar skills. I SERIOUSLY doubt her reading for the part was "awe-inspiring," anymore than Jessica Alba's was when she won the part of Invisible Girl over FAR more accomplished (and blonde) actresses she was competing against.<p>And we ALL saw the results of THAT brilliant choice of casting in the Fantastic Four flicks.

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 2:48 a.m. CST

    interesting story from LAST October...

    by LUZER

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Rachel-Bilson-Is-A-Jumper-3635.html So she was too young for that flick eh?

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 3:01 a.m. CST

The point of mentioning pornstars TheGhostwholurks was...

    by wolvenom

that there's a part of the casting session that you are not a party to nor have witnessed. All you know is that she's 5'5 and blonde. I'm sorry but am I wrong in saying that the whole profession of acting is about ummm acting! After all no one thought carrie fisher looked the part of Princess Leia at first. She was a freakin heffer but George lucas saw something in her casting session that put a spark in his creative energies. Maybe George Miller is seeing the same thing with this chick. Maybe this chick read those lines of WonderWoman with so much more meaning than all the 6ft tall brunette actresses before and after her auditioning for the role. If i had to choose between a 5'5 blonde chick who acts out the lines she's given with such pose that it could bring a tear to my eye or the 6ft tall brunette who acts out the lines like she's auditioning for a chuckie cheese commercial I'll choose the former. WHO WOULD YOU RATHER RECITING THE LINES... "Of all people, you know who I am...who the world needs me to be. I'm Wonder Woman."

  • Oct. 27, 2007, 3:11 a.m. CST

Bottom line: Pixies and Pretty Boys shouldn't play dress-up. This probably will look like JL90210; and the worst thing is that I can't avoid it like I did most of those godawful Marvel flicks. George Miller, master craftsman that he is, will salvage what would have been a trainwreck, but I'm gonna have to squint my eyes and pretend there are ADULTS in those costumes (which is what I had to do with Bosworth, who was supposed to be, get this!...a 35 year-old Margot Kidder). Perhaps in some alternate dimension, there's a JL movie showcasing Christopher Reeve, Michael Keaton, and a Monica Bellucci who's taken a few acting classes.

    by thecomedian

There are a lot of pros and cons to what’s going on with JLA and the gamble Warner Bros is taking with their superhero franchises. First off, I don’t think the studio is as dumb as some of you kids think they are. I believe we WILL see Brandon Routh as Superman and Christian Bale as Batman in this film. You can bank on it. That’s probably why they’re going so cheap with the rest of the cast. Having the real Superman and Batman on film together will mean the difference in this picture making 50-175 million or being the “Lord of the Rings” of Superhero films, an Event film, potentially the biggest Superhero film ever made. The press on this alone would be huge. Trust me they’re not stupid enough to write off that kind of opportunity and I’m sure they are still fighting tooth and nail behind the scenes to make this a reality. Christian Bale initially not wanting to do this movie has a little bit to do with integrity but really it has A LOT to do with money. And not in a “he’s just some spoiled, greedy asshole” way either. But I’ll get to that later. As many have pointed out it may seem that the nolanverse, Singer’s dull as dirt ersatz Donnerverse and the Justice League couldn’t possibly meld together into a cohesive whole. That’s what it may seem like but there is an easy as shit solution and I’m sure whoever is doctoring up the script right now has hopefully figured this out. A lot of people here have brought up the point that doing a Justice League movie where the league is already formed is incredible stupid. They’re right. You may have some pinheads at the studio thinking of this picture more as a live action version of the JLU cartoon and thus most audiences will just look at it that way. They’re wrong. Unless they just want a handful of people who bought DVDs of the cartoon to show up at the theater. So here’s my “so simple a soulless Harvard MBA who just wants to be the next Barry Diller can follow it” solution. Okay so, 1st let’s deal with the Superman/Batman thing. In the case of Superman, Brandon Routh AND Bryan Singer have everything to gain by him playing Superman in JLA. Face it, Superman Returns was a failure. Not because Singer was trying to pick up from a 30 year old franchise. He obviously didn’t even GET the Donner movies because they actually are imaginative, inventive and FUN. I don’t think Bryan Singer can even spell “Verisimilitude”. He didn’t even deliver on the movie he was supposedly telling us he was making. We never actually saw “a world that had moved on and didn’t need Superman anymore”. I could pick apart the flaws of Superman Returns but it’s all been said already. The fact of the matter is he got beaten badly by fuckin’ Pirates, a sequel that wasn’t even half as entertaining as it’s predecessor. I don’t even think Disney thought Pirates would make the money it did. And it did because SUPERMAN RETURNS FAILED. So people had to take their kids to see something on a rainy summer afternoon. The cold hard truth is that THE ONLY REASON WE’RE EVEN SEEING A JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE IS BECAUSE SUPERMAN RETURNS WAS SUCH A LETDOWN AND WB IS HUNGRY FOR A BLOCKBUSTER SUPERHERO FRANCHISE. Search you feelings, Singerologists. You know this to be true. That said, I think Brandon Routh did okay with what he was given. I think the right director can get a Superman out of him that’s uniquely his and not just some lame *literally* pale impersonation of a beloved dead icon. HE DESERVES THE CHANCE. If this movie is a success it will easily translate to good will for the Superman franchise. I don’t think Bryan Singer really cares anyway. This past decade of mediocre superhero work has just been a career steppingstone for him anyhow. He obviously doesn’t give a crap and just knows how to say the right things at the right times and push geek and studio exec buttons alike. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a talented guy but I think he should get back to doing brainy thrillers. That’s what he obviously likes to do and is good at. Same way Burton is good at weird, quirky stuff. And he didn’t try to make a whole career out of doing superhero movies he didn’t care about for fat paychecks. Once he got tired of Batman he split. Singer should take a page out of his book. The studio’s obviously trying to give him the brush off as is by firing his writers. But enough bashing of Superman Returns. Those of you who liked it are entitled to your tastes. The point is that Routh deserves another shot and this may be his last. If this Justice League movie is a big-tittied, fire-breathing monster hit and he’s not in it as Superman there’s no way WB is going to waste money continuing the Superman franchise with him. They’ll just reboot with the JL Supes if they EVEN WANT to do anymore “solo” Superman movies. Now onto Bale, the nolanverse and the real reason they’re supposedly giving so much static. They have every right to. At face value they’re in an opposite situation as Routh and Singer. They have the successful franchise, both critically and financially. They didn’t quite do the blockbuster numbers that the 1st two Spider-Man movies did but they DID successfully relaunched a dead franchise (inside of 8 years even) and they did it the right way by genuinely respecting the source material, casting the most A-list cast imaginable and adding just enough of their own madness to make it new. Of course, my one criticism is the shitty shakycam fights but overall they turned out a great film. And now here they are wrapping up the sequel, what will supposedly be the studio’s big-tittied monster superhero film next summer. And that’s the reason for the static but not in the immediate way you would suspect. You see, if Dark Knight is a big hit then Bale can ask for waaaay more money to play Batman whether it be in a third film, Justice League, The Outsiders or fuckin’ Batman meets Scooby Doo. Right now by trying to shoe horn him into a Justice League movie he doesn’t have that leverage (at least on paper). They’d basically be asking him to put the suit back on this spring when he just took it off and he’ll probably have to be looping growly Batman dialogue in some voiceover booth for DK at the same time. Plus if he signs on for JL that means he may have to play Batman in the JL sequels as well as his own movies. Holy Bat-typecasting Burnout (yeah, I know it was corny but I had to try). This would be all worth it if they had a script that logically extended his character from the Nolan movies into a larger DC Universe. So yeah, some stupid script based off of a cheapo equally vapid comic crossover event from last summer wouldn’t be all that appealing. So here’s the simple solution…are you ready WB execs…I’m sure you’ve figured this out already…PAY HIM RIGHT & CHANGE THE SCRIPT. MAKE A JL MOVIE THAT’S A SEMI-SEQUEL TO BB & SR AND OPENS UP THE DOOR TO THE WHOLE DC UNIVERSE. “B-B-B-BUT COMEDIAN, THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!”, you say. Hardly, actually there’s a very logical way of pulling all of this off and EVEN keeping Max Lord, Talia and the Omacs involved. The film I’m proposing would probably be about 3-3/12 hours long but people lined up in droves and sat in the theater for over nine hours respective to watch a bunch of midgets throw a ring into a volcano. They’ll sit thru a 3-3 ½ hour JLA movie if it’s an “event”. Routh and Bale as Superman and Batman will cement that. So here’s my treatment. You see, tying the ersatz Donnerverse and the Nolanverse is actually a piece of cake. It all comes down to the timeline. Superman left earth for 5 years right? Wasn’t that the same time Bruce Wayne was off stealing shit and doing all his Bat-training with Ra’s? So having them meet for the 1st time on a rooftop in Gotham at the beginning of a JLA movie would make sense. Having a superman-less world in BB makes sense because #1 he was off in space and #2 Gotham is it’s own city with it’s own problems just like in the comics. Superman can’t be everywhere, he takes care of the world but he wouldn’t have time to deal with Carmine Falcone when he’s got to deal with Metropolis. And why would a pre-bats Bruce Wayne give a half a crap about some Alien celebrity the world is ouing and ahhhing over. He’d be so wracked with anger and guilt about what happened to his parents that he’d be completely oblivious. He was obviously in his own world outside of normal rational thinking anyway when he was gonna kill Joe Chill at the courthouse. He was a “lost man without a true purpose”. He’d give as little a shit about Superman as he would Paris Hilton. Lois Lane even mentions Gotham in SR so the groundwork has already been laid. So starting a Justice League movie with the classic 1st meeting we’ve seen time and again in comics with Superman chastising but ultimately befriending this vigilante on a rooftop would work. Everything I just said about the timeline could even be worked into the dialogue. Have Superman talk about how he realizes there are problems he alone can’t deal with. Have him talk about how there are others out there like them (yeah, I know it's all Mohinder but it’ll work). He can talk of reports of a red flash in Central City, giant green shapes in coastal city, etc. Have Batman be apprehensive but considering it all. Then we cut to Bruce Wayne in his daily business life. Here we’re introduced to Max Lord (Sam Neill) an older colleague of Wayne’s who he may even see as a friend/father figure seemingly the polarized opposite of Rutger Hauer’s character in BB. Max is charismatic, cunning, all those things Sam Neill is at his best as opposed to some Bryne Era-Luthor surrogate. Bruce also meets an exotically beautiful independently wealthy young woman named Talia thru Max. Max has seemingly brought Bruce and Talia together to invest in some big software project or something. At the end of the 1st act some earth-shattering event happens that Superman himself can’t handle (the omacs attack cities around the world) the rest of the league comes out of the woodwork meeting together for the 1st time. Superman is not surprised to see the Flash and Green Lantern both of whom he’s contacted since his initial meeting with Batman. Batman isn’t all that surprised by them either. What does throw them for a curve (or two) is the appearance of a certain impossibly beautiful, insanely powerful Amazon Princess. She explains that her name is Diana and she comes from an island shielded from all surveillance both man made or otherwise. There is an immediate bond between the three of them. She’s like the loving sister these two lone orphan boys never had albeit a smoking hot one. With the camera bulbs flashing on the three of them, GL and the Flash The Justice League is born. Batman is of course reluctant to join with them(even shirking away as the cameras flash) and says his role will be minimal because he has a city of his own to deal with. A mysterious crew cut police detective in a brown trenchcoat is also on the scene. The second act of the film shows Superman leading the league in action fighting more omacs who keep coming back and doing other stuff like setting up headquarters. Aquaman is introduced at some point and joins up. At first the League believe they’re dealing with Alien invaders as the Omacs all have the bizarre blue one eyed finhead appearance from the comics. The mysterious crew cut detective also seems to be everywhere the league is. We even see him reading a newspaper article about the Justice League fighting aliens with a knowing look on his face. Meanwhile Bruce is becoming slightly suspicious of Max and Talia while at the same time as Batman he is cautiously suspicious of his new friends in the justice league. So he starts keeping tabs on them though this isn’t of course drawn out in great detail but only hinted at. Of all the league members The Flash seems to be the most genuine even to the cynical Batman. He’s even the 1st to reveal his secret identity in a show of trust at the hall of justice. He explains the freak accident that caused his powers. He explains that his late HS/Early college age nephew Wally was also involved in the accident and has powers like him but wants to live a normal life. He respects that. The third act begins with Batman doing his detective thing and discovering the horrible truth about the omacs. They’re actually humans being turned into robot killing machines in a fake alien invasion perpetrated by Max who is of course looking out for human interest by exterminating the superhumans. In a great scene Max confronts Bruce and asks him to join his cause. He knows that Bruce is Batman. He’s know all along and has been using him. The reason he knows is because Talia knows and the reason she know is because she wants revenge on him for killing her father RA’S AL GHUL. So in the same scene Bruce Wayne’s two human friends turn against him. He refuses to join Max so Max pushes a button and everyone in the restaurant at the Princeton club or whatever turn into Omacs and Batman has to fight his way through a sea of superhuman robot killing machines. Lucky for him Superman and WW show up. The rest of the league follows. But now Max has the jump on them because he hacked into Batman’s files and knows all their weaknesses. Now the league is actually on the defensive and with the realization that there are people under the omacs they have to show restraint. They also face an even bigger problem when Max uses some sort of mind-bending deal on Superman. Not a direct telepathic attach (movie max is strictly human) but some sort of sonic devices that not only disorients superman but causes him to hallucinate. In a smirking speech Max reveals that he could track down any Kryptonite so he cooked this doo hicky up. Superman in a really bad trip becomes a danger to himself and others, unfocussed and randomly causing damage. Batman and Wonder Woman team up trying to stop him but he’s overpowering them. Barry’s nephew sees the battle on TV he races to the scene. Just when Max thinks he has won the mysterious police detective show up he is of course J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter. Batman doesn’t have a file on him. He telepathically fixes Superman and uses his vast array of powers to help the league fight the omacs. With J’onn and Wally’s help the league defeat the omacs but not without a cost. Barry gives his life heroically. In the final scene of the film the heroes gather in the hall of Justice. Wally West will obviously be the new flash though he’s not costumed. In a scene reminiscent of the scene where Barry unmasks J’onn tells them his true name and shows them his true form. They all reveal their identities to each other as a show of trust, Superman even reluctantly puts his glasses on. The last of course to take of his mask is Batman. “My name is Bruce.” Fin.

Uh... were we SUPPOSED to read that???

    by TheGhostWhoLurks

Because once I got to the part where you said the studios would DEFINITELY cast Routh and Bale as Superman and Batman (when Superman's already been cast and Bale's already said "no") and then saw that you'd gone on to write the sequel to Atlas Shrugged, my eyes glazed over and I ignored the rest.

and they haven't already cast Superman....

    by thecomedian

that was debunked a day ago. Bale not wanting to do it was because of a shitty script that probably doesn't exist anymore. Try to keep up.

    Lois Lane ages though deathbird...

    by wolvenom

Thats why it didn't make sense to have kate bodsworth as lois lane and because she's already been cemented by Margot kidder as being in her 30's. IT MAKES SENSE for Teresa Palmer because Diana doesn't age and WW has never been cemented in any film previously concerning her age. Lynda carter doesn't count... you want to look at eye candy and crappy acting bouncing around in a bathing suit go back and watch that show.

like I said. I come from a different age of talkbacking. You dipshits just tear each other apart. If I'm wrong about Bale and Routh well then good for you. But you're really the idiots if you don't think the studio isn't trying to make this happen especially with Marvel uniting all their heroes under paramount and setting up shop to do the Avengers in the next 5 years. What do you think THEY'RE gonna go. "Iron Man and The Hulk are in two seperate cinematic worlds. LET'S RECAST THEM WITH COMPLETE FUCKING UNKNOWNS." Who's really riding the little yellow schoolbus with a helmet on, here?

What makes you think they won't recast a third for the avengers? And lining up who else? There's no thor, ant man, wasp or captain america in any current franchises cast yet? They will be as you say 'COMPLETE UNKNOWNS' so wtf is this paramount reunion you're talking about? Unless they put Spiderman, wolverine, blade in the avengers or bring back Downey jr. as ironman I really dont see a 'uniting of all the heroes' idea that you have your mind set on.... If they do an avengers movie it will be the original avengers, ie wasp man, ant man, ironman, hulk, and obviously Captain America... soooo who are we getting back? Robert Downey Jr?

    by filmstu2005

Especially Wolvenom and Comedian. At least let Wonder Woman look the part. Even CLOSE. Id rather have Mary Elizabeth Winstead play Wonder Woman instead of this blonde chic, and even she would be a bad choice, in my opinion. I hope this is just a rumor that will be debunked soon by WB. And yea, Routh and Bale will DEFinteley not be in this movie. So just give it up. The best thing to do is forget this film until they finally come out with the cast. Im getting really tired of the casting news. It's all disappointing

    And yes, NO RAPPERS

    by filmstu2005

I'd rather give a real black actor a chance at this. Someone like Denzel cause i always imagined Denzel playing GL in a big screen adaption of JL. But since this movie is waaaaayyyy beneath him, especially with the hyped anti-epicness i'd say someone like Derek Luke. I dont know. Dont care. Just no rappers (TI? Were they fuckin serious? I almost sharted) That's all im saying. Give us a real blk actor and stop going for these rappers trying to make a quick buck.

    by filmstu2005

I sure wont. No one in America other than comic geeks know of Ant-Man. I didnt know who the guy was until that awful Avengers saturday morning cartoon. Who's gonna see that film? Ant-man. Please tell me all production on that film has been cancelled. Ant-Man. *snicker*. Sounds too cheezy to do a real movie on.

    touche...

    by thecomedian

I guess what I'm trying to say is that they're not going to have two Hulks and Two Iron Man's running around in three different franchises. That would be assinine and that's basically what WB will end up with if they don't get Bale and Routh. As far as Marvel films is concerned, they now have a deal with Paramount to develop their remaining superhero franchises (Thor, Cap, etc) under one studio which will give them the ability to have all their heroes in the same movie. That's why Iron Man is being produced and Hulk was also pulled from Universal and now flies under this same studio. Avi cut this deal a little over a year ago. But I won't insult you wolvenom. You argue your points well enough. You just don't know that much about the movie business. That's just ignorance. No harm in that.

<br> <br> The second act of the film shows Superman leading the league in action fighting more omacs who keep coming back and doing other stuff like setting up headquarters. <br> <br> The third act begins with Batman doing his detective thing and discovering the horrible truth about the omacs. <br> <br> In the final scene of the film the heroes gather in the hall of Justice. “My name is Bruce.” <br> <br> Fin.

WB doesnt care about ur ideas. they care about george miller's, u know, the guy they hired? They're not gonna come here and read what u wrote cause they simply just dont care. The movie's being written their waym whether we like it or not. Only power we have is the decision to NOT buy a ticket and go see the film in theaters. If u wanna boycott, boycott.

Brandon Routh is basically still a nobody. They can pay him scale for this or a little more than they're paying these slave wage unknowns their looking at. So at the least I can garauntee you he will be Superman unless Miller is hell bent on someone else or the studio is using JLA as a way of underhandedly killing Singer's Superman franchise. The writing is on the wall. They already fired Singer's henchboys. If people really like the JL Superman they probably won't bring Routh or Singer back. <br> <br> It's Bale that holds the cards and the reasons I stated in my "rant" are pretty much why. Fuck integrity, you don't think his greedy assed agent isn't at least trying to work a deal. It's a bigger gamble for the studio to recast Batman if DK ends up being a huge hit next summer. Their best bet is to pay him and retool the script with the Nolanverse and SR as a jump off point. <br> <br> But, whether they recast or not a JL movie with the league already formed is assinine. That's the main thing that will make this seem like an "illogical" turn from the two franchises. JUST FIX THE SCRIPT STUPID.

The reason this film will suck is plainly because the most interesting thing about superhero movies are the origin stories. Everything else is just fancy dressing. Proof? Look how in every franchise each film gets worse and less interesting from a character point of view, which is where the heart of the story lies. And if your main character can 'do anything' there's not much at stake as you know they'll overcome obstacles with little effort. So I don't care who directs this. It's going to be dull and nothing more than an effects reel. Don't expect characterisation. Oh and Comedian, I don't care what age of talkback you come from, no one will read that you elitist geek. Sooner this movie gets into turnaround the better.

Yes, I read the entire post and script treatment - and it was good!<br><br> The Routh/Bale thing would be a necessity if they insist on doing this movie as a live-action cheese-fest. If they were to take my suggestion of a more artistic approach (something on the order of 300) THEN they could have different actors and it would still work since the LOOK of the various franchises would be different. If, however, they are all standard live-action, it would be odd to say the least.

It would be ridiculous if it was Bale

    by Vern

Christian Bale was great in that movie, I am a big fan of the guy since I saw American Psycho. But if you saw that one you know that Batman is trying to be grounded in reality, they even have him wearing some kind of SWAT team outfit now like it's a police procedural with a funny mask. But George Miller's Batman will be hanging with a magic flying guy from space who's afraid of green crystals, a gal running around in her panties flying an invisible airplane and if I understand correctly there is some prick with a magic space ring that shoots green out of it and he is afraid of the color yellow or some shit like that.<p> You seriously want Batman Begins hanging around with green power ring man? Come on dude, be serious. This is a separate series, it should have a different guy. I vote for Kurt Russell or Lesser Known Actor Who Is At Least As Old As Kurt Russell Possibly Older.

It's pretty ridiculous if you think about it. Why would a mythical Amazon dress in the colors of the United States flag? And fighting in a push-up corset is just not smart. That's why the '70s show is such kitchy fun. Her tits would be popping out of that outfit all the time. Which is fine with me if that's the direction they choose to go. Otherwise I hope they pull and X-men and update it to something less ridiculous looking.

    Seriously, Vern. Kurt Russell?

    by thecomedian

They can cross Bale's Batman into this world. It's all about execution. Basically they'd just taking a page from the comics letting Batman have his own down to earth crime to deal with in his own series but being a key player in a larger universal scheme. Batman doesn't fight spacemen and alien invasions in his solo titles but he deals with them all the time in JLA and his characterization is consistent so it works. That's basically what you do with the movies. And if you have the BB Batman reacting to this bigger stuff with the same pissy "I'm used to fighting idiots in clony makeup. What the fuck is this stupid space man crap." it will work well too. Seriously, you made the standard short-sighted argument we've heards time and again and then you pick Kurt Russell? You really think Kurt Russell wouldn't be an even more rediculous distraction as Batman then the guy currently playing him? Look, all this Batman is too realistic BS is a copout. In comics the same as in film. "Realistically" a creepy wierdo who dresses up like fucking Dracula every night and kicks the shit out of purse snatchers, rapist and drug dealers wouldn't last very long because he'd get fucking shot or someone would step on his cape or something. There's nothing "realistic" about Batman in comics or on film. You know what else is unrealistic, fight scenes where you're watching the movie thinking "Please God, just let just see a fist hit a face for christsake!?!" and instead you get a shaky close up of a subway conductors console for 30 seconds. It's all a fucking escapist fantasy, dude. I know that may sound like an even bigger copout but it's the truth. You want a "realistic" Batman. That's pretty much Bernie Goetz, the movie with John Wayne Gacy as the villain... Actually that's not a bad idea. But I'll agree to disagree.

Looking 'hot' doesn't make her right for the part!

    by Lance2769

So she looks sexy in her white camisole! SO WHAT! That doesn't make her right for the Wonder Woman part. As stated in a previous message. She looks like some sexy cheerleader. And now, she's being fitted for a wig! !!!??? Pray that it doesn't look laughable like Halle Berry's wig in the first X-Men movie. Casting young is not the solution for keeping a franchise alive. X-Men didn't resort to hiring someone young like Josh Harnett to play Wolverine in order to keep continuity with the actors for future films. The answer has always been to cast the right 'age appropriate part' - a good director can always shape the performance of a decent actor (Quentin did it for Travolta and there are endless examples). You can never change what you 'see' on screen if you've cast wrong. Once you've gotten your core cast, you sign them to a 2 or 3 picture agreement and if the franchise is still alive after the first film, you film the sequels back to back (if in fact, time and youth is of the essence). Filming back to back is the most cost effective way of delivering more return on the bank's investement and is the prefect solution for time issues . This has been the trend of making movies for years (LOTR, The Matrix, Pirates and even Back to the Future Parts 2 and 3 way back in the 80's). Anyone in the business knows what I've outlined above, and is no secret. So, this B.S reason that Harry is giving us on behalf of George Miller's casting young to keep a franchise going is for the birds. It's not justifiable. In fact, it's probably just an excuse for another old Hollywood director to get a piece of young ass. I've seen it time and time again being in the business and Michael Bay and Robert Rodriguez - you two included. I love seeing a good piece of eye candy on screen as much as the next guy but isn't that what B-movies and porn is for Harry? It's time that we call it out the way we see it and you should too.

BB's Batman is a vigilante with fighting skills and a shitload of money in a world there is much like our own. Its simply IMPOSSIBLE to cross Nolan's approach with this SuperBestFriends thing. It would be like sir McKellen reprising his role as Gandalf in Epic Movie 2. And make no mistake, this WILL BE a kid's movie a la FF4, this perception not only explains why WB gave the greenlight, but also why they choose Miller, who has proven that he can handle both child storytelling and action.

Yes indeed the "No Flames on Optimus Prime" pandemonium is in effect here. I read alot of ..."She's BLONDE " therefore "this will go straight to video". Elijah Wood was cast as Frodo...news flash...he's not 3ft tall. You guys are crazy with these sweeping declarations based off of a half assed non- press release photo. But , valid points on WW's outfit though...Ive got to think a re vamp has to happen. It depends, Miller may go for the larger than life, mythic vision of the comics. I love this stage of the process where everything is a big question mark, before ...little by little...plot points, casting ,set design news etc starts to trickle in. I will send my condolences right now to The Comedians family, for his untimely suicide when this comes out. Because theres NO WAY he'll be happy with ANY version of this movie that does not match his perfectly formulated scenario. This film may truly dissapoint(as SR did),but that kind of expectation leads to madness. Just ask the LOTR dweebs who freaked out over Tom Bombadil. Stick with the source material and be happy. But for the 99% of the rest of the world who dont have time to research DC canon...it'll be a fun night at the movies.

    by aicndoesntwantmorecowbell

is because it will interfere with routh being in a sr sequel (which is coming out late enough already) and the bale in bb is much to realistic for this movie. i wouldnt even really like the fact that this movie wouldve interfere with sr or bb since everybody in that movie is so amazed (in the movies) by the fact that they have a superhero so itd be really annoying to find out there were other superheroes in that universe it would kinda take away from the other movies

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Wonder-Woman-Is-A-Blonde-6768.html <p> By Josh Tyler: 2007-10-26 13:02:00 <p> I’m flat out sick of reporting on Justice League of America casting rumors. The movie sounds like it’s going to be a second tier, replacement actors, teen superheroes flick and it’s being directed by a guy who thinks it’s such an important project… that he’s shooting two other movies simultaneously with it. There’s no way JLA is going to be any good, and we’re all wasting our time by paying attention to it. <p> Still, I guess it’s my job to report this stuff, no matter how much it beats me down. So I’m just going to spit this latest casting rumor out and be done with it. An actress named Teresa Palmer may have been cast as Wonder Woman in JLA, according to Moviehole. They seem pretty certain about it, so maybe this is it and we can stop reporting on at least this role. Thank god. <p> Teresa played the blonde girl Vanessa in The Grudge 2. She’s mostly done bit parts in movie’s you’ve seen, or bigger parts in movie’s you haven’t. She’s 21 years old and 5’5” which makes her too young and too short to play Wonder Woman… if Warner Brothers was making a movie that was at all faithful to the characters rather than a film designed to sell discount boxes of cereal. Sadly, it’s the latter that’s going on here and not the former.

Teresa Palmer is Wonder Woman?<p> Posted on Friday, October 26th, 2007 at 10:52 am by: Peter Sciretta <p> The big news today is the supposed casting of Wonder Woman in the big screen Justice League movie. Moviehole claims that Teresa Palmer may have scored the role.<p> Age 21 years of age, Palmer is the youngest of the bunch of Wonder Woman hopefuls. Her publicity materials list her as 5′ 5¾”, which is considerably shorter Amazon character who is known for her curvaceous long legs. The modern day character is 6′3″ while the older version was much shorter (5′11″ was “amazonian” height for a woman in the 1960’s). Palmer starred in December Boys and The Grudge 2. <p> Again, this casting has not been 100% confirmed by the studio. But looking over the past hopefuls for the role worries me a bit. Does Warner Bros have any idea what they are doing with this film? It’s beginning to look a lot like the JJ Abrams Star Trek casting, young actors with little to no name value

    Isn't JLA a terrible idea?

    by danowen

This is a concept that belongs in comic books, I don't care how good it reads in a script. JLA as a film, even with the director Babe Pig In The City (hehe), is just going to crap all over the good work done to re-establish Batman and Superman recently, and deny a decent standalone adaptation for Flash, Wonder Woman, etc. Cheap, inexperienced actors being cast doesn't fill me with happiness either. Just end this now, please. Oh well. Dark Knight will be amazing, then we'll have this "Batman & Robin"-style debacle to set comic adaptations back by 10 years again. Sigh. I hope I'm proven wrong, but I have no faith in this JLA thing. Even the NAME sounds hopelessly patriotic and dumb -- so, Superman only saves Americans now, then??

This REALLY Can't Be Wonder Woman!??! <p> Date: October 26, 2007<p> By: Ryan 'The Rican with the Irish name' McLelland<br> Source: MovieHole.net<p> Irish Rican here with my continuing look on the UGH-tastic Teen Titans, ERRRRR, Justice League of America casting. <p> Today's great rumor??? That Wonder Woman has been cast. Who is set to play? <p> It's this chick: Teresa Palmer. Yes - she's blonde! But they can dye her hair - or will they? This movie is already going to blow so I won't be surprised by a blonde Wonder Woman. <p> Keeping with the "what the hell are you casting for?" effect - Palmer is 21 years young and has starred in such remembered classics like The Grudge 2 and December Boys. She was recently named one of Australia's Top Stars of Tomorrow. That's right ladies and gents...she's an Aussie. <p> I'll bet the big question everyone is asking is how tall is Palmer. Cause surely you need to be TALL to play the Amazonian Princess. SURVEY SAYS: She's 5'5. Oh, excuse me, she's 5'5 and 3/4 of an inch. <p> Something tells me that sitting down to watch Batman and Robin thirty times while having someone insert nails into my head a la Pinhead is going to be less painful then the new JLA movie. <p> Does anyone out there agree this is going to be crappy? Or is everyone liking the idea of this new JLA movie and I'm just 'out of it???" Do me a favor and let me know at ryan@latinoreview.com!

    Hey Vern!

    by captain_kirk

I'm with you on this. JLA needs to be its own universe and its own franchise. It builds up the properties like the comics have dozens of different titles and cartoons have different versions of the same heroes. It makes more sense, and I don't know how anyone can argue with MORE interpretations of characters ending up on screen given the fact that superhero porn has been sorely lacking on the big screen. I love Batman--and yes, even Metrosexual Man Brandon Routh--they are interpretations on characters, and I love that. But sometimes I like my cheese. Sliced and on a plate. A JLA movie can't be the most reality-grounded, and will have to be a little silly because making some of their plots into EPIC ADVENTURES is difficult. So a little camp, cheese, and over the top is good, and I think there needs to be some freedom to do this. The end result will be better for comic movie geeks because so many characters we still sorely lack on screen. We went almost 20 years without a new superman movie, and 10 years between nipplesuits and Christian Bale. People should stop complaining. The movie might suck, but nothing will ever suck more than FF. It's just physically impossible. And even if it sucks, it'll be fun. I'm looking forward to a CG invisible plane, lame BDSM jokes about Wonder Woman and her lasso, sexual tension between superman and WW, gay innuendo being made about Batman and Robin, and a reculusive mentally unstable Aquaman who thinks he can communicate with dolphins--his only real friends. Let's get some Charlie's Angel (I) style wire-fu in there and have some fun. And TB'ers--you know which ones--take it easy. Yes, WW might be too short--but it took Hollywood 30 years to get Superman right, finally, finding Christopher Reeve. Lynda Carter was awesome, but the series had its own limitations. I'm surprised none of you morons have questioned whether WW will be WWII era wonder woman, or a modern day wonder woman. Two last things...1) Can someone tell me when Wonder Woman got the ability to fly--or whatever it is--in the comics? Cause that really annoys me, since she has a perfectly good invisible jet. 2) Wonder Woman is my favorite pez dispenser, and JLA movie is sure to get more of her on the market. Almost forgot...3) what is the source of the jet's invisibility?

    kurt russell as batman--

    by captain_kirk

freaking PERFECT. But not for this movie. He could be miserable and loner-like, but I think a JLA Batman has to be a bit more flexible and have a slight Adam-Westy thing to him. Maybe James Franco could be the Flash. I'd like that. Zac Efron for Boy Wonder, no take that back--Seth Green as Robin. Still love Kate Winslet for WW, at least as an understudy. Ben Affleck should be Batman. He deserves Batman--DD was interesting, but the movie sucked. He deserves more. If not him, Casey Affleck. Superman should be Vin Diesel. He can act, first of all. Second, he's a proven draw, and he might be willing to do it.

    Like I said... Wonder GIRL.

    by ZeroCorpse

WHY do they have such a problem with casting the JLA as ADULTS? <p> Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Batman should ALL be at least 32 years old, and in Batman's case, I wouldn't buy any less than 35. They should all look authoritarian, powerful, and like people you would listen to if they gave you an order. <p> This little princess looks like she just got back from selling cookies door-to-door. <p> Fuck you, Warner Bros. You ALWAYS compromise the source material when it comes to DC Comics. Fuck you and your shit casting. Brandon Routh sucked as Superman. Most of the Batmen sucked. Nicholson's Joker was stupid as hell (and NOT the Joker by any means-- It was just Jack's character from the Shining with whiteface), Halle Berry was shit as Catwoman, DeVito crap as the Penquin (although that's because you let him act like Louie from "Taxi" and not like Chester Cobblepot, the aristocratic pugilist), and so on and so on. I shouldn't need to mention Batman & Robin's abysmal cast. <p> OK, so you'd had a couple lucky breaks. Bale is a good Batman. V for Vendetta was well-cast and well-played. But then you turned around and give us THIS LITTLE GIRL as the Amazon Princess? WHAT PART OF "AMAZON" DON'T YOU GET?!?! <p> Wonder Woman should look like an adult woman, not a just-out-of-high-school girl. She should look like she can kick Superman's ass on a good day, and she should look like she's the BEST MELEE FIGHTER IN THE WORLD, which she is, and the STRONGEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD, which she also happens to be. <p> You've cast someone that couldn't even play Supergirl convincingly, let alone Wonder Woman. <p> Fuck you, WB. Fuck you for not having ANY respect for your target audience-- AS USUAL.

WONDER TERESA<br> 10.26.07<br> By Jeremy Smith<br> Contributing sources: Moviehole <p> Moviehole is reporting with great brio that George Miller's Justice League of America has lassoed its Wonder Woman. And, as you can see, it's not Mary Elizabeth Winstead. <p> Blondie-to-your-right's name is Teresa Palmer. If she looks familiar, that's because you probably saw her in December Boys or The Grudge 2. I skipped both, so I cant speak to her acting ability or va-va-voom bona fides; she's definitely cute, but, if you ask me, the more... substantial, 5'8" Winstead seemed the obvious choice to fill out Diana's red-and-gold bustier. The 5'5" Palmer, not so much. <p> But, as we heard earlier this week, Miller might be casting tiny. <p> If Moviehole is correct and Palmer is definitely JLA's girl, she also beat out Friday Night Lights' top knockout, Minka Kelly, for the role. This is, sadly, not a surprise; what Kelly's got in looks, she completely gives away in talent (though her perpetual blankness is perfectly suited to her FNL character's sudden, unquestioning capitulation to megachurch Christianity; still, I give her another couple of weeks before Garrity's shacking up with Riggins again). <p> There's been no confirmation on the Rupert Evans as Superman rumor initiated by Dark Horizons the other day. But the diminutiveness does seem to be catching, doesn't it?

The Flash - Walk Idiot Walk by The Hives. John Stewart - All Mine by Portishead. Aquaman - Territorial Pissings by Nirvana. Martian Manhunter - Blue Flowers by Dr. Octogon. Destroy this fucker completely George and make Justice League a musical! Worked for Buffy, right? DC...ugh. Well played, Marvel Entertainment.

Guess your a Shrek fan huh? Miller is Miller is Miller. Happy Feet blew my mind. I'd rather my kid watch that or Babe 2 than anything by Dreamworks. There is a difference between visual candy and ideas that promote thought and more importantly raise questions. So what if Miller has decided to appeal to youth for a period of his career, there is no less merit in that. If anything he is doing more.

At least you implicitly acknowledge that JL's being made for the same reason that Scooby Doo and Transformers were: to sell more toys. Apparently, I was spoiled by what Nolan did for the Batman franchise: enjoy a superhero movie without having to lower my expectations. So you're saying you'd prefer a mild Miller film than an outrageous Miller film? Aussie got all my money for Mad Max 1 through 3. Never saw Shrek. I hate Mike Myers.

I think Batman Begins is the finest comic book adaption ever, however it does not mean I cannot see a different interpretation of a character in this lighter framed movie. The JLA comic was fun and spectacular, it had a completely different tone to Batman comics, or does everything COMIC(yes COMIC) have to be for thirty year olds.

  • Oct. 28, 2007, 3:20 a.m. CST

    here's why.

    by Napoleon Park

Some people are Wondering why AICN seems to be pushing this film. At the moment there ae only three articles, though admittedly two in a row is a bit extreme. <p> Really, I've heard that many Americans can't read, many who can don't, only a fraction of those read for entertainment, only a fraction of those ever read comic books or graphic novels and only a still smaller segment of those still do. <p> So there's a huge amount of mainstream public who just doesn't get superhero movies, who think of them as a fad rather than a genre and of course those cranks who come to these talkbacks to claim that since "Superman and the Mole-Men" or whatever their example is was made in 1961 there don't NEED to be any more super-hero movies. <p> But for the fraction of a segment of a portion of a small percentage of the population that ever read or still reads comics knows, super-heroes tap into a primal adolescent power fantasy, at the sense of hopelessness in a world gone mad, and at a primal bloodlust love of violent vigilante crime-fighting and evil-vanquishing. A present day fairy tale, a modern mythology. <p> Comics are great because, unlike film, they have a special effects budget limited only by the artists imagination. Super-heroes are the most popular genre of comics. Mainstream 4-color super-heroes from the major publishers are the most popular because they're primal, universal, widely recognized, often the first comics we came in contact with as children, archtypal and widely copied or imitated, readily available, and are proven properties popular enough to have laasted in some cases for over sixty five years. Of those, the best known are the heroes from DC and Marvel, of those DC has been around the longest, of those Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are THE BIG THREE, with Flash and Green Lantern being the most iconic characters that relaunched the popularity of super-heroes for a second generation of fans and started the Silver Age of comics. And the idea of a super-hero team establishing continuity and a shared universe between these characters is widely beloved. Martian Manhunter was technically the first Silver Age hero and a key player on the JLU TV series, Aquaman is remembered (if mocked) from SuperFriends, Max Lord was a key character introduced in the DeMattais/Giffen justice League relaunch, Talia is Batman's lover, daughter of one of his deadliest arch foes and mother of his illegitimate son, and OMAC was the creation of Jack Kirby, the single most influential comic book creator of all time (all due respect to Stan Lee and Will Eisner and Alan Moore) and layer of the foundation of the entire marvel universe. <p> Jeez, people wander in here and wonder why this movie is such a big deal? Look, whether it's as good as 2001 (It won't be) or a total trainwreck (it won't be), it's the ultimate superhero movie with the ultimate line-up of the founding members of the greatest superhero team in the country. It's a big deal because it's the fucking JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA! <p> Forgive me for stating some incredibly obvious points, but either you get it or you don't, and amazingly, apparently some people don't.

    Many<Most

    by Napoleon Park

Napoleon is spelled with an "O" and a couple hundred illiterates is "Many", and way too many if you ask me. I didn't say "most". Superfriends sucked, by the way, and it was on in the '70s so most of the kids who grew up watching that shit are forty now. I saw about half the films you mentioned. but I said that being a Justice League movie qualifies this for heavy coverage here whether the end result turns out good or not. It's important because it's the JLA. And I'll use the A in JLA because whatever they call the film, it's based on the Justice League of America. <p> To recap, you misspelled my name, insulted me, misunderstood both specific words and the general meaning of what I wrote and are hoping for a Superfriends movie with Grundy and Cheetah. <p. I think that pretty much speaks for itself. But at least you can read, kinda. Thanx for playing. Oh, wait, you misspelled your own name, too. It's Crack, with a "C", and the initial letter of a name is usually capitalized unless you're consistantly using all lower case letters as an affectation. ["<" is a mathmatical symbol meaning less than. Many (is less than) Most.] Poltroon.

Who out of Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig

    by William Landis

in their James Bond heyday would you genuinely be scared to come up against in a fight or moreover, looks like he could kill someone? I choose Craig, who is the only actor to fall short of the obligatory James Bond six foot mark so why on earth should a 5'5" woman cheese some of you off?! Does a four inch difference or whatever make her impervious to 'Wonder'. For goodness sake, Tom Cruise was born to play Ozymandias and some of you felt his height was an obstacle (for the record I'm taller than Tom Cruise, just to avoid that line of abuse, but I would say that wouldn't I?). In fact, I AM TOM CRUISE. And there goes the credibility of the point I was trying to make but still, I've just always harboured a terrible desire to say I AM TOM CRUISE in an asynchronous computer-mediated communication environment.

  • Oct. 28, 2007, 4:24 p.m. CST

"Fucking dense"? As in 'stupid' or...'dark, complicated'?

    by William Landis

Well, with a name like Dreadlock Holmes you're clearly no wordsmith so I'll take it at face value. You just carry on living in your world defined by beauty rather than intellect and I'll keep looking for the essence of a charater as opposed to aesthetics. The point I'm making is that no-one knows just how much this actress will capture the essence of Wonder Woman. Does height really matter?

Nikki Cox would have made an interesting choice. She is the definition of natural beauty, she's not not overmadeup or looks like she is 14 years old and starving to death. Wonder woman is not exactly supose to be fragile looking either.

  • Oct. 28, 2007, 4:41 p.m. CST

I'll let that wordsmith thing slide...

    by Dreadlock Holmes

Seeing as you're no Rhodes Scholar yourself, "charater??". However, if you will allow me to quite frank and contrite, Wonder Woman has an iconic look. Much like Superman or Jesus. You can hire a blonde cheerleader if you want because you believe she captures the characters essence but if she doesn't credibly looks the part then the audience will not take her seriously. If Brandon Routh was 5'5 with Blonde hair you would not be happy even if he got the "essence" of the character.

Teresa Palmer is a passable form of Wonder Woman (admit that!) whereas your Routh example cannot compare. • Oct. 28, 2007, 5:48 p.m. CST

    Megan Gale fits the part!

    by Lance2769

...as in, she has the perfect 'look' for Wonder Woman. She's definitely a throw back to Lynda Carter, where she doesn't look too mature but she also doesn't look like a WB kid. Also, just like Lynda Carter, her eys are piercing blue, she's tall and her bust is perfect! She has the complete 'look'. If she's a half decent actor (and can disguise that strong accent) then George Miller just missed a definite contender for the part. I still like Monica Belucci also although she is short in height. However, well placed camera angles have always been the solution to that.

    People forget...

    by Dreadlock Holmes

Alot of actors started out as models. Prime examples Tom Welling, Ashton Kutcher, Rebecca Romajin(Stamos?) heck didn't Christopher Reeve used to model? Mark Wahlberg was a CK model for crying out loud. Besides Gale has acted before in Italian films and Australian tv, all she needs is a good director and she should be ok. I'm not really expecting Shakespear from a comic book movie.

  • Oct. 28, 2007, 6:27 p.m. CST

    Ideal casting for Batman

    by William Landis

Picture that scene in Batman Begins where Batman lays a snare-trap which yanks bent cop Flass by his leg 70 feet into the air. The Caped Crusader immediately interrogates his prey with a primal, unstoppable intensity as the rain beats down on Flass's baffled yet terrified face. Now imagine Mel Gibson in the cape and cowl as he roars: I AM OBSESSED! WITH TITS! BUT IT'S CERTAINLY NOTHING! I WOULD! EVER! SEEK HELP FOR. If you can make that happen, Mr George Miller, I will never travel by plane or car for the rest of my life.

There's no way they'd be dumb enough to cast Teresa Palmer in this big iconic role. I trust Miller (for now anyway) He must know better. I like Megan Gale, but something about her face is too Liv Tyler like, and i dont think that would be a good look for the film. I wish Megan's face would fill out a bit. Other than that, she's the best choice besides Megan Fox and Nadia Bjorlin. ALl she needs is to get into shape and look a bit muscular. Strong, not frail. Im willing to bet they've casted her.

I'm from Adelaide where she lives. It's a tiny city - more like a country town. It's the kinda town where everyone runs into everyone and ive seen her at least 5 times in the last year or so. She is terrible for the part. She is TINY. If your gonna give her the part you might as well have given it to Rachel Bisson from OC. She looks like a 14 yr old girl and i saw her in a club a few months back. She is good looking but she's not striking and doesn't really stick out. In fact i'd say there were at least 10 hotter chicks in the club. Just cause she's Aussie it seems George Miller wants to give her the part. She hasn't done anything to deserve it. For Wonder Woman you need a tall imposing figure. Teresa Palmer i'd have reservations even if she was given the part in the Teen Titans movie. It will be a disaster. Anyway a few facts about her. As soon as she left school she started dating a footballer - Stewart Dew. He had the dubious honour of 2 things - he could kick the ball further than anyone else...and he was fat. He couldn't control his weight. He's always been fat. When other teams came to Adelaide they'd sing this fat song about him in the stadium. Nobody could understand how he got a chick like her...and when she decided to move to the US - he quit footy even though he was in his prime to follow/stalk her. There were pics in the newspaper of her in a club in Adelaide with Topher Grace...while she was still dating Stewy Dew...then a few weeks later bingo - she's dating Topher Grace. Poor old Fat Dewy. He's too fat to get even back to footy now. That's what chicks do to you

    WW wears ARMOR, not lingerie!

    by ZeroCorpse

FORGET the stupid fucking TV show for once! Wonder Woman wears metal ARMOR, and it's painted in RED, BLUE, SILVER and GOLD-- NOT red, white, and blue. The "America" theme to it is to honor the people she has adopted as her own. <p> Now, again I say this girl is WRONG for the part. She'll look ridiculous in armor, and if they give her a cloth/lycra/spandex costume, it will look cheap and cheesy. <p> She's too young. Too small. Too blonde (and believe me, even when you color a blonde's hair, you can still tell they're naturally blonde. They have a certain "feel" that they can't avoid.) She's wrong in every way. <p> Wonder Woman should be WOMANLY. Older. Authoritarian. Strong. Athletic. Stern-but-beautiful. Toned. Deep-voiced. Who fits these qualifications??? <p> TWO choices: Lucy Lawless (who is NOT too old. She looked incredible on Battlestar Galactica) or Jennifer Connelly (who would need to work out a bit to get the muscle tone, but has the looks and regal bearing... She doesn't look like a little girl.) <p> What are they aiming for instead? Just-out-of-high-school girly girls who have high-pitched voices and look like the prom queen. <p> Once again, I say FUCK YOU Warner Bros. You have no respect for the fans or for your own comic book company's long history and established character bios. You're making a bog-screen version of Smallville, and for that I say FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU! <p> Just because Spider-Man 3 sucked and still made a shitload of money does not mean it's OK to make a crap-ass JLA movie that barely resembles the comics. Show some fuckin' respect for the fans for once. We bought the comics for a reason, and SHORT, BLONDE, CHEERLEADER WONDER WOMAN was NOT it! <p> Seriously--- Any questions about how JLA should look could easily be directed to Dini and Timm. They know this stuff better than ANY other filmmakers. GIVE IT TO THEM.

I'm definitely on the Megan Gale bandwagon...

    by Abin Sur

Best choice I've seen. Damn, you think the studio keeps leaking names every few days to see who the fanboys approve of? Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Teresa Palmer, NOW Megan Gale...am I missing anyone?

"FORGET the stupid fucking TV show for once! Wonder Woman wears metal ARMOR, and it's painted in RED, BLUE, SILVER and GOLD-- NOT red, white, and blue."..........................................actually since she is a Greek Goddess and the Greeks often trained, competed in the Olympics and fought in battle naked- for accuracy's sake she ought to weak nothing in the movie

  • Oct. 29, 2007, 10:07 a.m. CST

    phast freddy...

    by ZeroCorpse

I won't argue... but I doubt we're ever going to get an R-rated JLA. You can drop visions of that imagined Superman-Wonder Woman fuck scene, too.

I think you mean the HAWKGIRL-WONDER WOMAN scene, right?

  • Oct. 29, 2007, 12:37 p.m. CST

See? Sly Stallone's height isn't a factor, either.

    by JDanielP

Kate Winslet WOULD be incredible in such a role, with the right director. But they ARE casting younger.

  • Oct. 29, 2007, 3:04 p.m. CST

if she can act, I'm sold on Gale

    by oisin5199

She definitely looks like a good fit - with the right costume and makeup, she could be perfect. She's tall enough, 'woman'-ly enough (unlike Wonder 'girl' Teresa Palmer). Could be iconic. And I'd rather have an unknown over anyone else - we may have Lucy Lawless, Kate Beckinsale or Monica Bellucci fantasies about them being in the costume, but like Superman, only an unknown will work in a film. The character's too iconic (and no mask, unlike Batman).

  • Oct. 29, 2007, 3:27 p.m. CST

The casting begins and ends with...

    by Borgnine JR

...Natalie Glebova. Google image her, you'll see what I mean. either her or Megan Mullaly.

    JDanielP, just stop.

    by one9deuce

Kate Winslet is the best actress of her generation, she wouldn't sign on to be Wonder Woman in a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie.

My thoughts on The JL debacle as a whole

    by Reel American Hero

First things first, apparently we, the fanboy community should direct this movie, as we know the characters better than anyone. Some, most of us, wouldn't know the first thing of directing a film, but hey, we know the source material so it has to be good. You know how on war movies, they'l get a consultant to ensure the accuracy of what's being put on screen, would it be so hard for studios to hire a geek consultant for one of these things, so we'd have nothing to complain about, but we'd still complain anyway. But the thing is, and few people ever seem to get this concept, is that they are not making this movie for us. They're making this movie for kids, and families to go see the superheroes the kids get all hyper for. So in that instance, it doesn't matter to the studios if they get the actors that would define the look of the character in the comics, or even good actors, they'll get someone cheap they can put in a recognizable costume, hopefully anyway. They'll probably want some level of realism because brightly colored superhero suits would look 'silly' on film.

Oh, and as far as Wonder Woman goes

    by Reel American Hero

They could easily slap some black hair dye on her, and reverse hobbit effect this chick so she's of the 'proper' height. B-b-b-ut she's blonde in real life and short? Come on people, they could make anyone any height necessary for the character these days.

    RAH

    by phast freddy

even if they special effected her to the right height (which they wouldn't do) she would still suck ass-she wouldn't look the part while other actresses fit it perfectly

  • Oct. 30, 2007, 9:53 a.m. CST

looks like they are making the teen titans movie instead of JLA

    by johnnyg korrupt

Casting is way too young and i'm sick of all this "we want unknowns" crap. If you want people who can act - Caveziel as Superman Crowe as Maxwell Lord Ed Norton as Two Face Joaquin Phoenix as Joker Any chick over the age of 25 as Wonder Woman Miller has gone from kiddie friendly cartoons and is now making a kiddie friendly JLA casting people who look like they would get asked for ID when buying alcohol

  • Oct. 30, 2007, 9:57 a.m. CST

    Wonder Woman

    by johnnyg korrupt

Ashley Judd, Angelina or Charlize Theron. Hot but more importantly they all can act.
