The Director Of BOYS DON'T CRY Takes On A Military Policy Called STOP-LOSS!!

Merrick here...
There's a trailer online now for a movie called STOP-LOSS. It stars Ryan Phillippe as a soldier who's just come home after a stint in Iraq...only to be sent back immediately. And, he refuses to go. The term "stop-loss" is defined thusly...
The stop-loss policy, in the United States military, is the retention of troops to remain in service beyond their expected term of service.[1] It has been argued that soldiers contractually agree to partake in stop-loss, but this may or may not be the case, and the issue is still being debated, both in public and in federal court.
...in THIS WIKI ENTRY. The film will be released in late March, but you can see its trailer....

HERE!!!

Looks like there could be some interesting issues at work in this film, including how we define duty and patriotism. What is a government's obligation to its people? And, what is an individual's obligation to "the system"? This is co-written and directed by Kimberly Peirce (who brought us BOYS DON'T CRY a few years back) and will have a score by John Powell (The BOURNE movies, MR. & MRS. SMITH). If the movie can avoid being too preachy, this could potentially be an interesting project.
