If HBO greenlights a pilot is it pretty certain itll make it to

    by TheRealSeveren

I know it has more of a chance than on network for sure. Seeing Patton in person at the Sex and Death 101 premiere at Fantastic Fest was a real treat. One of those guys that is just effortlessly funny. He comes off very natural on film as well. He should be good in this type of role.

Damn Oswalt for making The Ravonettes go short this weekend!!!

    by Kirbymanly

I've waited to see them live for sooooo long and Oswalt went long at the LA Weekly Detour fest... causing them to end their set 15 mintues early. Damn you Oswalt! Damn you to hell! The joke about you and your brother seeing Jerry Maguire on Christmas Eve was only funny to YOU. One of those, 'had to be there to appricate it' jokes. You cost The Ravonettes at least TWO SONGS because of that you fat fuck!

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 3:35 a.m. CST

    Fuck the Ravonettes...

    by Angry Mean Panda

He should've gone so long that they didn't perform at all.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 4:19 a.m. CST

    How about this...

    by Kirbymanly

Fuck you! How's THAT for funny? Eat a big bag of shit you endangered species, should be cuddly yet you're mean spirited bastard!

I Love The Ravonettes So Much...

    by Aquatarkusman

.... I can't even spell their name correctly! Damn you Patton! Funniest Patton line ever, Comedians of Comedy aftermovieshow, Emo's Austin 2005: "Your twat smells like a baby's coffin!" You had to be there.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 8:10 a.m. CST

    Sweet, then it's a winning score, Kirbymanly . . .

    by Nice Marmot

. . . Oswalt, 1, pretentious, whiny, indi, wannabe on the O.C. Soundtrack band, NOTHING. May they get run over by Clutch's tour bus.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 8:41 a.m. CST

    Wow, Patton Oswald

    by BigFo

    The bright side...

    by down75

Oswalt hangs out with some really cool funny people. Maybe this will give some of them a break.

What an abortion that not want.

    Patton Oswalt

    by gavdiggity

is the funniest troll-like, nearly actual sized comedy action figure working today. I was lucky enough to get to see the opening night of the Comedians of Comedy tour last week, and all I can say is- if you don't think Patton's funny, you're most likely missing Mind of Mencia while you're reading this post.

Good interview with Patton on NPR...

    by GrandMuffTarkin

He nerds out with Brad Bird. Good stuff: He also wrote a great Times article about his love of guns:

    Everyone knows

    by MikeTheSpike

The only "Intelligence" worth watching is the CBC's version focusing on the criminal underworld, the RCMP and the blurred line between them.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 1:08 p.m. CST

He should just get in with Bob & David

    by TurdFerguson44

Bob & David are developing another show for HBO, Patton should just get in with them and double the comedy horsepower and tow-able tonnage.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 1:25 p.m. CST

    Should be good

    by haggardatbest

Patton and Bradley Cooper will make the show decent, but what will put it over the top for me will be the guest stars. Both of these guys have hilarious friends. Hopefully Patton will bring in Zach Galifianakis and Eugene Mirman and Cooper can bring over his buddies from The State (it's a shame he wasn't an official member, he would have been great) and maybe Paul Rudd. Looking forward to this.

Kirbymanly_ Did the raveonettes play much off their new album?

    by eggbeater

I want to know if its as good as previous material. I'm waiting for their US tour to start up. They need to come by Atlanta. I just saw Animal Collective last week and they kicked the shit out of everyone.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 3:48 p.m. CST

Let's Go To Prison was terrible.

    by silentbobfan

Hopefully things will be better for this.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 5:27 p.m. CST

    by Kirbymanly

Yeah, 50% of their short set (f-off again, Oswalt!) was new material. What I heard was REALLY good. Even though no one knew the songs people were still dancing to it them. The sound is pretty much the same (they're like AC/DC to me-- if the sound ain't broke...) except there was one song called 'Ally Walks' (if I remember correctly) that had kind of a cool dance beat that went along well with the fuzz guitars... And one called "Dead Sounds" that had these quiet, music box-esque interludes and would then explode with fuzz guitar and a great surf-rock solo. In my opinion, those guys are even better live.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 6:17 p.m. CST

    by gavdiggity

if the sound is pretty much the same and Patton cost them at least two songs, wouldn't that just be two more songs that sound the same? Also, what would cause him to go 15 minutes long? Would it be people laughing at his fucking jokes? If THAT's the case, I'd say that his joke about seeing Jerry MacGuire with his brother was funnier to more than just him. I think it's ironic that, despite the fact there's "manly" in your name, you're being such a pissy bitch. But I could be wrong about all of this.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 6:30 p.m. CST

    Yes, I'd say you're wrong...

    by Kirbymanly

You're a moron, diggity. What would cause him to go 15 minutes long? Maybe its the ego? I never said he wasn't funny... though that Jerry Maguire joke sure as hell wasn't (it was like someone describing something funny thewy saw on television or a movie-- its very that funny--only annoying). The fact is, he went FAR over his time... which is a rotten thing to do when there's an act following you with a pre-set time. And as for "the sound"? Its the SOUND of the band, not the SONG you moron. Christ, I hope you're some pimple-faced 16 year old who wouldn't know any better. Now go head over to the microwave. Your Hot Pockets are done.

  • Oct. 9, 2007, 8:48 p.m. CST

How much do you want to bet that....

    by GreatCzarsGhost

If it's good HBO will cancel it.<P> Showtime is the new HBO.

    by MrMysteryGuest

    Patton Oswalt, Pilot for HBO!!!

  • Oct. 10, 2007, 10:59 a.m. CST

I hope they pair it with Bob & David or something like Conchords

    by INWOsuxRED

I'm tired of HBO only running one funny show at a time.

  • Oct. 10, 2007, 11:28 a.m. CST

"Now go head over to the microwave. Your Hot Pockets are done."

    by gavdiggity

Wow, I guess you showed me. Sorry, everyone... I've gotta go. Apparently, my Hot Pockets are done. The fact remains you came to a talkback about Patton Oswalt specifically to bitch about him going over time at a show- in my book, that makes you a pissy bitch (and I'd know... I do the same thing about Paul Haggis, which makes me a pissy bitch in THOSE threads). And as far as "the sound" vs. "the song," if you've heard one Raveonettes song, you've heard 'em all (probably about a year ago). *This also applies to The White Stripes and Greenday.
