Welcome To The O.Z., Bitch!! TIN MAN Trailer Hits YouTube!!

Published at:  Oct 05, 2007 6:05:12 PM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

“Tin Man” is a SciFi miniseries, loosely based on Lyman Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” from the veteran TV writing team of Craig W. Van Sickle and Steven Long Mitchell (“The Pretender,” “She Spies”).

It’s about a Kansas girl named “DG” who finds herself transported to a surreal and dangerous alternate dimension called “The Outer Zone.” It stars Zooey Deschanel as “DG,” Neal McDonough as titular character “Cain,” Alan Cumming as the brain-deficient “Glitch,” Raul Trujillo as the hairy telepath “Raw,” Kathleen Robertson as the wicked “Azkadellia,” and Richard Dreyfuss as the great and powerful “Mystic Man.”

Find SciFi’s “Tin Man” trailer here.

Find interviews with Deschanel and Cumming here.

Find interviews with McDonough, Raul Trujillo and others here.

“Tin Man” hits the SciFi channel in December.

    by napoleon park

because they couldn't get the rights to the comic book series "The Oz Squad" because that was pretty cool. So was the synthesizer concept album "The Wozard of Iz" So were Eric Shanhower's beautifully illustrated Oz graphic novels. And Alan Moore and Melinda Gebbie's "Lost Girls" with Dorothy, Alice and Wendy. Not to mention The Wiz. And Star Wars. (Picture Chewie as the Lion and C3PO as the tin Man, with Luke singing "we're off to see Darth Vader..."). Sure, updating OZ might be a fun idea, but really, it's kinda been done.

the character looks look uninspired, the cgi looks bland, the "lost in oz" show that never got aired was deffinately a better approach. i realize people who think it looks good are really stretching to find something good about this because they want a good adaption of these books done for the modern era, in a series that they can look forward to for a while, but if you step back and forget your "girlfriend" zooey is in it, or whatever other reason you're holding onto it so dealy, and take a good look, you'll realize it isn't.

    by rbatty024

I'm talking about is expanding the story, not just rehashing the first book. L. Frank Baum wrote something like fifteen books, not all of them starring Dorothy, and I'm sure someone can figure a way to get them right on screen, much like Return to Oz. It would be like people making different versions of the first Harry Potter film and ignoring the sequels.

In the books, the origins of the character are rather gruesome. Originally an ordinary man by the name of Nick Chopper.

, the Tin Woodman used to make his living chopping down trees in the forests of Oz. The Wicked Witch of the East enchanted his axe to prevent him from marrying the girl that he loved.
The enchanted axe chopped off his limbs, one by one. Each time he lost a limb, Nick Chopper replaced it with a prosthetic limb made of tin. Finally, nothing was left of him but tin. loooks like they'll use the "unable to feel love" staple, i.e.; reese in the terminator logan in xmen. marv, and to a lesser extent, leeloo from 5th element.

OK, I'll give you American Graffiti on a technicality because the music was so good it carried the emotional content of the movie. Jaws was absurd and poorly acted. Close Encounters was a bunch of hippie bullshit. The Goodbye Girl, give me a break, are you a woman? If not, you should be ashamed of yourself for even mentioning The Goodbye Girl. Good grief, I'm trying to take you seriously. Anyway, at that point I started avoiding Dreyfus movies until "What About Bob" which I previously admitted was uncharacteristically good for a Dreyfus movie.

Right after I posted that list I thought; hey the guy was probably just kiddin' sayin Dreyfuss had never been in anything good. Guess I was wrong. No need to get into a discussion with you, and yeah, you're right, I'm a woman. Lookin for a date Johnny ? Maybe we can watch The Goodbye Girl together while you suck my tits and eat me out. When it's finished we'll watch Close Encounters and What About Bob and do it all over again. Do we have a date ? XXX

    It's ironic..

By far the most faithful film version of TWOOz made to date was done by the Muppets. Pity they couldn't have hired someone to play Dorothy who could act...

    "The Unwatchables"

    by chromedome

Great name for a show on SciFi, eh? Or substitute it for Originals: "Saturday night, on a new SciFi Unwatchable: Species 46--The Hurling"
