Herc’s Seen BUFFY 8.7!!

Published at:  Oct 04, 2007 2:13:25 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

Just a reminder here that the Xander-free seventh issue of Dark Horse Comics' “Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season Eight” hit the local comic book stores Wednesday. It’s titled “No Future For You: Part II” and represents the second issue scripted by Brian K. Vaughn.

Faith is now on her Euro-mission for Giles (in a story, I believe, originally inteneded for a never-realized Vaughn-scripted Faith TV-movie), but we also get a three-page interlude featuring Flying Willow and Giant Dawn, neither of whom we've glimpsed since issue four.

A bigger spoiler lurks in invisotext. International pop idol Amy Winehouse saves Faith’s life!

On shelves now.

I really dislike Non-whedon Buffy. It's like fan-fiction. See You in Hell.

    Treating comics like TV shows

    by zacdilone

This whole "Herc's seen x.7, x.4" crap has to stop for the comics. Report on them, sure, but the novelty has worn off.

    Shouldn't that be "Herc's READ Buffy #7"?

    by spyguy

Bro, unless you went to your friendly neighborhood comic store and SAW it on the rack, but didn't buy it and heard about what happened from somebody else, you READ the damn thing. It's not a TV show.

with a face that kind of looks like Bowser Koopa and is so skinny Kate Moss sends her sandwiches.I cannot picture a scenerio in which Winehouse could come in handy.

Sad, sad, sad. At least it's not as bad as the 70's Defenders comic where a giant Dr. Strange quoted Rush lyrics for 2 pages...

Clearly this comic was made before Amy Whinehouse turned out to be a junkie.

"before Amy Whinehouse turned out to be a junkie"?

    by newc0253

why is that relevant? Junkies can't save people now?

and, anyway, who gives a rat's fuck whether she's a junkie or not. She's a decent singer, and that's what matters.

    SpyGuy-- Herc likes to pretend.

    by zerocorpse

When Herc gets a new issue of this comic, it goes through a metamorphosis. Herc, being a 14-year-old girl, loves paper dolls and Buffy, so she cuts out all the characters and acts out the dialogue, doing voices for all the Buffy characters in that annoying fake snarky dialogue way that Whedon loves to write. It's really kind of funny, because Herc does all this in her gigantic dollhouse which is decorated completely in Whedon creations and Gilmore Girls.

I wonder how well this would have worked as a tv movie

    by oisin5199

Somehow, I can't see Eliza Dushku pulling off a convincing British accent. And non-Joss writers? If anyone can outjoss Joss, it's Brian K. Vaughan. Anyone who says that he's not worthy has obviously not read Runaways.

oh, and I love Faith's monologue at the beginning

    by oisin5199

Some real unresolved issues there that were never really addressed in season 7. The kind that make you think that Faith might go against Buffy again (check out the cover for #8)!

Not that I am a comic book guy anyway, but

    by tvguy4566

I would never read this rag if the invisotext item is not a joke. I didn't buy the "Attack of the 50 foot Dawnie" part of this "season", but this is just utterly stupid. Maybe Britney will be the Big Bad.

Aaaah FUCK ALL-A you HATERS (up your stupid asses even)

    by psynapse

    1. EVERYTHING in this book is canon. 2. Whedon himself declared this the extension of the show and without the budgetary limits of television. 3. I'm enjoying it immensely so too bad so sad for any of you that aren't (but keep buying it so you can bitch about how sub-par it is, in actuality you only strengthen the entire affair you dipshits).

    Great issue.

    by catvutt

Maybe my fave so far. The first arc was a little overstuffed and awkward in places. Brian K's got Faith down cold and looks to be setting this up for a great finish.
