This has been scifis second best show and a total sleeper behind BSG for 2 years. It just keeps getting better. Very offbeat and original show!

It may not be one of the most loved, or even one of the better shows on tv (even for the summer), but it's a nice cheesy, 'lite' show that I can sit back and relax to.[p]All for Eureka continuing and seeing what Sheriff Carter gets up to in S3!

I recently got into Eureka so it's good to hear it's going to get another season. It's silly and over the top but the characters are always good fun. And Erica Cerra is hot.

    by johnny smith

The Eureka renewal is good news, but to be honest, newc0, I don't think either 4400 or The Dead Zone will be renewed. USA seems to want to bury them in much the same way Sci-Fi buries everything ever, except for Eureka (so far).

Johnny Smith i agree on the 4400

    by mr cairo

that needs a renewal but the last season of the dead zone was just poor.If they cant get back to the coolness of the first 3 seasons then let it go don't drag it back and whip the crap out of it anymore.Good news about Eureka though

Of course they would renew it, because it sucks!

    by gobbluth06

Of course, they would give this show another season. It's the Sci-Fi Channel. Whoever runs this channel is an idiot who thinks that people want to see the most crummy stuff on tv besides whats on Lifetime. BSG and Doctor Who aside, everything Sci-Fi Channel makes sucks.

Since they obviously had NO production budget and like TWO special effects for the entire season...they'll fit right in on SciFi fridays once Doctor Who is off the air.

    by pviii

This makes me happy. But c'mon, who wasn't expecting this? With Dresden, Jane, and Flash Gordon all being cancelled, and Eureka the only Sci Fi show averaging 1.5 or higher each week, this was pretty much a shoe-in.

SciFi should take some of that BG money and start production on a Rocklords series. They could really do justice to the intracacies of the show.

    by tvguy returns

As does Dresden. Flash and Jane are unwatchable. BSG is well written but the overly dramatic acting makes me not care as much as I should about the characters. Only seen two episodes of Torchwood on BBC ON-Demand so far, but definitely worth watching. Bet cha that it will be on SciFi next summer as a weekly, or next Fall as a Monday Night Block.

    Eureka is escapism

    by lfhlaw

let's see.. not a real town, so many quirky chracters. come to think of it...reminds me of eerie, indiana. but maintains a science fiction element. And it's been fairly original and offbeat. The 2nd season seems to have gotten its characters down better and they've introduced some new ones for Sheriff Carter and Deputy Lupeau(how do u spell that anyhow?) I will say i never got into BSG only because I've seen the original series and have a hard time with the new BSG. The Dead Zone has been dragging around lately and kind of has gotten complicated unless they can some how weed out the stillson presidential race/armageddon. I do like the 4400 and the pacing there has been very good IMO.
I've watched Flashed Gordon, but will say it's fairly hokie and hopefully it won't be renewed cause it's just too goofy.

Some decent actors, a good premise with lots of syndication-friendly one-off eps, and I bet it does well enough for Sci Fi in the U.S. and overseas.

Great News on Eureka--as for PKJ....

    by chromedome

....I had given up entirely on Painkiller Jane after 2-3 episodes (in the opening sequence each week, she mispronounces Neuros, for gods sake! Neeeros? WTF).So I decided to watch the season finale, to see if it had evolved at all.No dice: in one scene, the burly guy is accessing the highly secured weapons stash via a keypad and eye-scanner. Access is granted, and then he swings open the Cheap Wood Door with a Big Plate Glass Window!Man, if you watch this show, you need some painkillers of your own to get through it.

Eureka's one of Sci-Fi's better offerings

    by the merk

Glad to see it picked up. I'd really love to see Dresden brought back, though. I had all of this season's 4400 on the DVR, but after watching the first 2 episodes, deleted the rest. It's just so far from the original premise that I could care about it. SciFi really needs to just immediately cancel the abomination that is Flash Gordon, and maybe Joss Wedon to do a new series set in the "firefly" universe. Oh well, one can dream....

Not a great show, but a breezy hour without much need for brain usage. Likable cast with decent but repetitive storylines. Unable to integrate season long story arcs ala Whedon, but neither could Heroes, so...

Why not. Let's tkae the "broken" season method to the extreme. How about half an episode for the next 40 years. Make it last.

    the main problem with Allison

    by oisin5199

is she lost too much weight. Now she's all bony and 'authoritative' whereas before she was much hotter and I could see what Carter saw in her. And how many people want to call Stark Tony and not Nathan? He'd be good for a tv level Iron Man. Actually, Eureka has consistently surprised me - its premise seemed really throwaway cheap scifi (like Flash Gordon turned out to be - barely better than Andromeda), but the characters are likeable and actually have depth (and the leads can actually act, especially Joe Morton) and it's old school non-dystopian scifi, where the show is actually based on a positive take on science, technology and progress. I'm glad it's got a renewal. Dresden Files is gone (unfortunately, it had potential), PKJ is gone (thank god) and hopefully Flash will be gone. Now they need to take an actual risk again, like they did back in the days of Farscape and Lexx, and did once again with BSG. When NBC is beating you out with good scifi, there's a problem (I know, NBC owns Scifi channel, but still).

    by blackguard

Eureka is just plain FUN! I love the way the characters interact and that Carter seems to solve the complex problems with a "lay-man's" solution. FUN!

Flash Gordon DOES blow. Did they even READ any of the old strips or see the serials?? The portal to Mongo every week is LAME. Have him get stuck for a few weeks/months searching for a way back and having "adventures". Ming is just plain bad. Why do they even use the Queen song for promos but not the show? The opening sequence is about as bad as it can get.

Dresden is gone?? I should have guessed when I saw a bunch of the regulars pop up on other shows....

    by greatczarsghost

When Zombies do start to take over the world and are marching on your home, just put your TV on the front porch. slip a Eureka DVD into the drive and hit play. Then just sit back and watch the suckers open their mouths, gloss over the eyes and go all totally alpha wave on you. Then grab a beer, the shotgun and sit back to enjoy shooting some pumkins for fun and sport.

Eureka is fun. Could be around awhile.

    by leftfoot

Eureka is always about half a step from being a children's show or a "My Favorite Martian" (the original) type comedy. With a little "The Andy Griffith Show" mixed in.
Eureka is always fun. Never wants to be a big dramatic show. And they got rid of that mildly irritating fake Austrailan.
BTW, I read that 4400 got cancelled along when the Dead Zone did.
