Wes Anderson's DARJEELING LIMITED hits this weekend. Those who've been following the film know it comes complete with a built-in "set-up"/intro for the movie itself.
The set-up material is called HOTEL CHEVALIER. It's now available for FREE download via iTunes. You might see it splashed across a banner at the top of the screen when you log on. Or, you can simply search for it & the free file is quickly findable (I used the term "hotel chev" and found it instantly).
PLEASE NOTE: it's about 13 minutes long and IS NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK!!!

Can't all you foreign people just reset your itunes to a certain country? At the bottom of the main page, it has a country drop down menu. I thought you could do that and buy that way. but maybe I'm wrong.

You *can* do that, but in order to start an American iTunes account, you need to not only enter a credit card number (which I don't have) and a billing address, but they need to be AMERICAN. That's an assload of trouble to go through..

Do the distributors think Wes Anderson's audiences won't understand? Out of all the directors with fan bases, his would be the most likely to "get it." His style even allows for it. Since 2002 when they handled "In America" and "28 Days Later" Fox Searchlight has managed to get almost everything right when handling films that are a little bit hard to market. I expect more from them.

That was just brilliantly shot and edited. Each shot underlined a sense of intimacy through distance. Laying down with the trunk between them, the reaction when room service arrived. The short is sensuous, not sexual. Yes, Portman is hot and that pose at the end was killer, but the mood of this was perfect.

This was fun to watch. I love how he sets up a scene. He always has something weird in his movies, but I like 'em. You remember them. Fun to watch and it's cool to see Schwartzman and Portman evolving as actors and doing something different. Good script.

I adored Rushmore. I liked the hell out of Tenenbaums. But starting with that film and increasing in every film since, I can't stop being aware of the fact that EVERY SINGLE SHOT IS SQUARE TO THE FAR WALL, and usually CENTERED. It drives me bananas. It is such a weird compositional choice, and so overdone that I can't stop being aware of the filmmaking and settle in to the story and the characters. I love the actors he chooses and the quirky characters, the dialogue, but the filmmaking itself SCREAMS at me so much I can't enjoy it any more. (Sigh.) Based on the positive reactions here, maybe it's just me...

Its really too bad it won't be screened with it. There are a few good jokes in Darjeeling that require seeing Hotel. And no wonder Apple is giving it away with the built in iPod ad.

Way to drop Usc's name buddy...were real impressed at that....I like his "signature" shots....slow mo...framed to the walls....no film school film ive ever seen had the budget for all the production design in this...the yellows..then that cut to the outside-blue....just fucking masterful....
