Sackhoff Says Lots More Corvus Coming To BIONIC!!

The girl who plays Sarah Corvus and Kara Thrace spoke for about 22 minutes to KUFO-FM’s “Cort and Fatboy” Wednesday night and said she’ll be doing a lot more “Bionic Woman” this season.
Katee “Baby Spank” Sackhoff is currently shooting her fifth episode of the NBC show even as she’s shooting “Battlestar Galactica” 4.11 (an episode, she tells the duo, viewers are not likely to see until 2009).
“Galactica” and “Bionic” apparently shoot right next to each other in Vancouver. “Bionic” currently has a 13-episode order that could grow to a full season if ratings warrant.
Hopefully they will. Sackhoff says she’ll appear in seven episodes of “Bionic” this year, and is contracted to become a series regular if NBC picks the show up for a second season.
She is also asked (repeatedly) about being so much more popular among critics and viewers than the brunette bionic woman. Here’s how Fatboy plugs her appearance:
It appears previous interviews with us have gotten her in enough trouble with NBC/Universal that she now necessitates a publicist to make sure she doesn't slip up and explode the heads of her higher ups. And even with that publicist, she lets a couple interesting things go in regards to both Battlestar AND Bionic Woman

As for Bionic Woman, it was pretty good. Howard Stern liked it also, he just said a few minutes ago on his Sirius radio show. I didn't think Bionic woman's boyfriend was that good of an actor to be honest. That Starbuck chick stole the show though. HOT BLONDE SINISTER....word2bigbird my dirrty.....p.s LOST RULES

from the old show. I guess there is no place for them these days. Maybe in the comedy movie? It's a good first ep so far and I don't hate Katie so far like I do on Battlestar. She might do a lot better on this series. But there is a lot of estrogen on this show so far. Probably more crying than we would like to see.

Given the number of veterans disabled in so many wars, you could build platoons of already trained soldiers. Never quite understood why it seems to be so many civilians - and yes I got that this was done without permission.
Mind you, I still don't get why the medical staff just didn't refuse to do the bionic upgrades without authorisation. Where I work, we can't get the staff to do anything if they think it's contrary to policy, let alone upgrade them to bionics without the necessary forms.
And on that note, why don't they fit all the parts with a remote off switch, especially if the first model went crazy? -

More "Baby Spank" Sackhoff would be welcome. Her character was the glue holding a very weak pilot together. She's physically quite threatening, tension-inducing, and very comfortable with violence, so I hope Eich gives her a lot more screen time.

After seeing both versions of the pilot, I think they should have made Jamie an American soldier who was crippled in Iraq. The story possiblities from that premise would have been greater, more intriguing, and the darker production design would have fit better. Plus, there would have been the whole political/military allegories that could be played up (like they do on Battlestar Galactica). As it stands now, the whole premise as established in the pilot is flawed, unbelievable and just not that interesting. The reason why Sackoff's character is more interesting is because the bionics have corrupted her, and she's a soldier. Sackoff's character should have been the title lead. (Hell, maybe they should write Jamie Sommers off the show, and turn the whole show over to Sackoff to lead.)

Professor you nailed it -- this remake should have been focused on a soldier who was injured in Iraq. (They could have played up allegories to Jessica Lynch.) The show could have addressed elements of the Iraq war, which could have made for many intriguing and timely story arcs. Instead, Jamie Sommers is simply some bionic tech dude's hot girlfriend. God who cares about that?

some of the reviews suggested, but it still needs work. I for one liked Ryan. Don't agree with the popular contention that Sackoff blew her off the screen. She just had the showier role.

I'll check out another episode or so, but based on last night's premiere, Bionic Woman is off to a pretty shitty start if you ask me. I'm a big fan of chick-on-chick fights and stories about superpowered females coming to terms with who they are, but an important ingredient in making a show with such themes and ideas work is solid acting. Buffy had it in spades, as did Alias. Last night's episode of Bionic Woman did not. British soap actress Michelle Ryan brings to her title role all the emotional complexity of, well, a soap actress. Her performance was awkward and flat, which doesn't bode well for the future of the series. I didn't care much for Sackhoff, either, but if she adds a little more depth to her character, things could become a little more interesting. Last night's ep wasn't terrible. It just wasn't particularly good, in my opinion. But we'll see. Perhaps things will get better.

I completely agree with you. Is it possible they shied away from that out of fear of going down the Robocop/Universal Soldier B-movie cul-de-sac?
Alias was at its best when Sydney was juggling grad school and her life as a spy. When they stopped pursuing the dual identity aspect of the show, it became just another spy series except with a chick. -
is all it gets. Premiere was CRAP and I was going to be lenient and give it two more episodes, but fuck it. I have enough to do all day.

Ryan had a small part in the BBC series Jekyll, a 6 part update of the doctor Jekyll, Mr Hyde story. Apart from looking too young to be a psychiatric nurse, she was good enough to make me check out bionic woman. She'll be fine I think.

Put Katee on the map as a kick ass action heroine/anti-heroine. Seriously, in the beginning there was much hate on behalf of her doing a sex change with Starbuck, only to find that she somehow fit better into the role than Face Benedict himself, though that's open to debate. After seeing her for several years now, with help from publicity from AICN and us fanboys, she lands a starring role on what is arguably the biggest new show this season on network TV. Also, thanks to much promotion from NBC, then the positive reviews of her performance, not only good, but upstaging the star of the show, as well as pretty much everyone else, Katee is now reaching what some would call celebrity status and starting to make the big bucks.
Me, I like to think that I somehow helped this along and that we, as all knowing people who know what's good for Hollywood, helped to get one of our own to the top, or somewhere near it. -
And to thank the fans she needs to get stark naked in her next movie, wouldn't you say? I'm such a pig, but Katee brings that out in me.
