Hot Cousin Kara Zor-El Arrives In SMALLVILLE!!

Published at:  Sep 27, 2007 5:59:32 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

BEWARE SPOILERS!!!

The CW says:

Clark confronts Bizarro, the last wraith from the Phantom Zone, and the ensuing fight causes the dam to break and a torrent of water rushes towards the land. Lex, having just been arrested for Lana's murder, is submerged under water in a patrol car, but is saved by a mysterious young woman. Lois manages to pull Chloe to safety but her cousin is pronounced dead at the hospital. The same woman who saved Lex reappears at the Kent farm and is revealed to be Kara Kent AKA Supergirl, Clark's cousin from Krypton. Aaron Ashmore and John Glover also star.

Other things to know about “Smallville” this season:

* Chloe and Lana are both just fine.

* Annette O’Toole is no longer a regular, having moved to D.C. to join the U.S. Senate.

* Kara, who can fly as well as Bizarro, is expected to appear in roughly half the season’s episodes.

* Kara, who has been in suspended animation, is surprised to discover her cousin is not an infant.

* Jor-El will tell Clark Kara’s dangerous. (She was probably dispatched by her evil dad to strangle Clark in his crib, which is what happened in the funnybooks. That could be trickier now that he’s twice her size.)

* Lana will get hot for Clark now that she knows he’s an extraterrestial.

* Kara will get hot for Jimmy Olson. Chloe will grow jealous.

* Lois will work as a reporter beside cousin Chloe at The Daily Planet and get hot for its new editor.

* J’onn J’onzz is back this season, and he’s apparently not keen on Kara.

* After taking season six off, James Marsters is expected back as Brainiac for several episodes airing at midseason.

* Kara will work at the Talon and enter a beauty contest against some pretty kryptofreaks.

* “Lois & Clark” star Dean Cain will in 7.5 play an evil scientist who claims he can cure kryptofreaks. He may actually be the immortal Vandal Savage.

* “Supergirl” star Helen Slater turns up in 7.6. That episode is titled “Lara,” which in the comics is the name of Clark’s Kryptonian mom.

* Clark will save the life of the female lead of a comic-book movie.

* Lionel Luthor will be captured and held in a cabin.

* An accident will give Lana Kryptonian powers.

* Producers hope in introduce new members of the Justice League late in the season, and bring back some old ones.

8 p.m. Thursday. The CW.

I've liked this show in the past..

    by bizarrojerry

But at this point, I have a feeling I'm hanging on just for Allison Mack's cleavage. It's weird to me just how many women characters we have on this show now. I think they're outnumbering the guys. Granted, that's for the sake of both the geeky male segment of the viewership that get no women, and the women who like all the soap opera-y stuff. And this new Supergirl seems to be skirting the line between hot and trampy.

Laura Vandervoort (?) does seem a bit too good in the dailies we have seen, but then again... We need more of Erica Durance jogging! She does fill out the sports bras nicely! And if we could cut the Lana/Lex stuff, it would be a lot better for all those concerned...

No payoff on the Lionel/Martha fling. Having to deal with more Lana bullshit. And the fact that the show will probably morph into a Supergirl series doesn't fly with me. Especially with the lame casting of Vandervoort. ugh. Thank god this is the final year. And why the hell isn't Supernatural premiering this week???

I took a couple seasons off as the first few were so disappointing. Every time it would like some character growth for Clark or Lex was happening, they always hit the reset. Not to mention the reliance on Kryptonite powere villains. Most importantly Clark kept fucking over Lana. If she Knows, I may come back.

    by spiketbb

From what I understand, when Warner's devoured DC Comics they split it up into "your side-my side" little kingdoms. They gave certain characters permission to be in certain projects and mediums. That's why the characters from "The Batman" animated series is are so screwed up. They have to make them different enough from the movie and comics version so that they don't impede on those territories or steal their thunder.
It looks to me like The Company Men at Warners's are counting on the Batman movie franchise to be their biggest money maker out of the comics characters. Maybe even more so than the comics. So they are very controlling over where he can be shown and what he will be shown as.
We would think that, since it is all DC comic characters and productions they are all one big company and can use who they want where they want. But each media outlet is it's own separate company and guards which characters they have very greedily.

Smallville is still a quality show

    by osmosis jones

Of course, I only started watching it on DVD last November, and tonight's season premiere is the first complete episode I've watched "live", so I can understand how the lack of progress on the Clark/Lana relationship could be annoying if someone's watched it over the course of six years instead of 10 months. That said, how many sci-fi/fantasy shows are still this good going into their seventh season? Granted, I'd prefer they wrap the series up this year and not pull the slow death X-Files thing, but there are FAR worse shows to complain about. Oh wait, I forgot...this is AICN, where any show is awesome until it's two seasons old, then when something new that's similar comes along, the original show gets bashed mercilessly. Will Heroes still be fresh in 2012?

At this rate, by the time he becomes Superman he would have fought/defeated/neutralized all of his villains already. What's left? World peace?

How is it Kara can fly and Clark can't? She's been trapped in a dam for like 16 years and Clark has been sucking up the yellow sun for 20. (I have no idea how old he is supposed to be on the show. Does he ever go back to college for journalism?) Man does this show really screw up the Superman timeline.

Excepting his flying scene at the beginning of season four, we won't see him fly again until the last episode when he goes to work at the Daily Planet, hears someone crying for help, pulls open his shirt to reveal the big red "S" and flies off to the rescue. Cut to black. Speaking of work...WTF does Clark DO to make ends meet? Has he EVER had a job on the show other than doing chores on the farm?

But the show got me so interested that I started seeking out the source material. As a kid I had ONE JLU comic, one Superman, one Batman, and one WW. They were a box set. I think they may have even been cassette read along versions. But bloody hell, Smallville made me get the Supes DVDs. Then actually seek out comics. I've been through Crisises now, all the current JLU sets out, and plowed through Superman history books. And this show just wipes their asses with that material and then starts rolling the camera. Sticking with freak of the week would be better than pale imitation.

The cheeese continues unabated. I laughed my ass off at the beginning when Clark evaporates the cascading super flood in a fraction of a second. Several thousand tons of water gone in an instant. That kid and everyone within a kilometer would have been boiled alive. That one instance is the crux of what's wrong with Smallville as a whole. The producers need things done in a way so everything can be more or less put back to square one at episodes end and the writing team isn't talented enough to do it in real creative ways ergo we wind up with hokey split second microwaving of large bodies of water and other silliness. The end fight could have at least given me some satisfaction on a primal level but they screwed that up by "Van Damming" it. Y'know, Van Damme gets his ass handed to him until at some point he gets his second wind and then it's a one sided ass kicking from the man. Your telling me after soaking up an entire room of kryptonite Bizarro is gonna get one punched into orbit because Clark got some rays for a couple of moments?...ugh.

    by filmstu2005

Amazingly TERRIBLE. What the fuck was that? Who wrote that crap? It was horribly directed, horribly produced, the FX were acceptable, considering this IS Smallvie where nothing ever looks right post Season 4. But it was god-awful from the start. The scenes were badly put together. Everything clashed, including character dialogue. Felt forced. Nothing made sense nor did it feel natural. Supergirl's entrance was awkward, especially her final scene at the end. Hopefully Laura gets more comfortable on camera. She seemed a bit nervous and shaky. Lana appearing could have waited till later on in the season. Chloe's awakening should have had more depth. Damn, i coulda wrote better shit than that. It was terrible. This show needs to end ASAP or find some better show runners cause what i saw last night was not just horrible but DEPRESSING.

...why are the flying effects for Heroes better than Smallville? Both shows use flying sparingly for obvious reasons, but when Heroes finally gives us a taste it's done well. This is the bleeding season premiere and the flying looked Superman IVish..sheesh.

"Bizarro is gonna get one punched into orbit because Clark got some rays for a couple of moments?...ugh." Ask the people who "like" Singerman Peeps. THEY seem to believe 30 seconds of sun allows him to IGNORE the effects of KRYPTONITE, while lifting a mass of ass-ugly "real estate" into space. So allowing him a super-punch is not so far-fetched now, is it?

was awesome! Bizarro, Martian Manhunter, the way they introduced Supergirl, Lex going to jail for Lana's murder, Chloe's new power. Even the part at the end w/ Lana wearing a blonde wig in China was pretty cool. Excellent episode.
