I am – Hercules!!

Rumor has it that Brandon Routh and Christian Bale won’t be approached to play Superman or Batman in George “Mad Max” Miller’s upcoming “Justice League” movie, but word from Entertainment Weekly is Warner Bros. is already zeroing in on “Chuck & Larry” star Jessica Biel to play Princess Diana of Themyscira.

You think the general public is going to go "oh my god celebrity as superman and jessica biel as wonder woman!" no they are going to go to the ticket box and go "oh my god superman, batman, wonder woman and the flash in 1 movie(they don't know the rest and even the flash is pushing it)". Bale not being in it will make a big difference. that is going to make a lot of people go "huh?". you know those people who can't differentiate between different characters running around.

    by jdanielp

They could do a lot worse. And this movie could be great, though a large part of pulling this off will be the visual interpretation, in a way (or style) that won't look ridiculous on screen. The director's vision for this movie is going to be a major factor, in how it plays out. "300" owes much to the director's eye. Visual interpretation can make or break how performances come across. I'm REALLY curious how this one is going to LOOK. What, exactly, IS the director's VISION for this flick? THAT is what I want to know, ...know what I mean, jellybean?

I'm with YackBacker! Why force this JLA down our throats while a hugely successful Bat-Franchise is rolling strong?!?

Fine, have Routh play Superman, as a continuation of Returns. But leave Bats out of it until the Nolan flicks are through. Adding him in the 2nd or 3rd JLA flick isn't going to hurt anything. And by then, if your first JLA outing is a success, you may be able to convince Bale to do it.

At least Marvel is smart enough to protect their X-Men franchise by doing Wolverine and Magneto pics WITH THE SAME ACTORS!!!!

THis is the JUSTICE LEAGUE. not ONE FUCKING TREE HILL. although i love morwena, she's too slender and small. Realistic

    by 1fearlessjay

I think a lot of people overlook the fact that their "favorites" to play Wonder Woman are far too old for what the studio is looking for. I know. I know. 35 isn't that old. But when you make a movie aimed at young males between 10 and 35 (yes the demo would be greater), then you cast young. Not just because "young is hotter" or some nonsense. It's because if you make three or four movies over the course of 10-12 years, you want your stars to not look rediculous. Women like Jennifer Connely (37), Monica Bellucci (43), Charisma Carpenter (37) while all beautiful, aren't realistic possibilities unfortunately.

And my vote would have been Charisma, but Biel isn't bad.

Mention Jessica Biel and a JLA headliner finally appears on AICN. I'm sorry but I don't think she would be good. I think they should get a foreign actress. Wonder Woman is Greek in origin after all. I know that Bale is out for Batman, but Routh still isn't totally out for Superman from what I read at other places. I really would like to have seen Welling as Superman. I think they just need to make sure they don't make this a Hollywood "supercast". Nothing wrong with a headliner or two, but don't make it full of superstars just to get top billing.

For all of you saying TOO SOON for JLA...

    by abin sur

I'm looking at YOU, Yackbacker and Sirbroiler: Guys, just because this movie didn't languish in development hell for 10 years doesn't mean it's being forced down our throats - and it's certainly not like it's being written, directed and produced by McG...George Miller and Barrie Osborne are high pedigree - I can't think of any other producers that have a stronger record of making monumental movies, and Miller is an inspired choice. Besides, we had 3 Batmen in 4 movies, and we've seen Supes portrayed at the movies and on TV by Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, and the dude on the crappy Saturday morning Superboy show from years back - I don't think that the general public's head exploded from all that. The audience will get past it if you tell a good story, and I think the potential for a good story is here.

Christopher Reeve as Superman via CGI/Motion capture

    by mr sulu

if JLA is gonna be CGI/Motion capture characters like Polar Express or Final Fantasy or the new Beowulf then could it be possible that superman could be done so as to resembal Reeve's face? using footage from his superman and other movies as another actor portrays the body movement? (as they normally do in those CGI/Motion capture films)

Reeve is the definitive Superman and in Superman Returns Singer made an intentional effort to hire a guy that sorta resembled Reeve when made up (blue contacts etc)

and Maybe they could do something similar for Batman and hire Michael keaton?...

I'm not sure if Green Lantern will even be in this...

    by stones_throw

...they've only mentioned Superman, Batman (it'd be suicidal to do a JLA movie without 'em), Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Flash so far. Kind of makes sense - GL has a much better stand-alone origin story and could easily support its own franchise. But I sure want to see Green Lantern in this movie. It would balance out the colors for one thing (the big 7 members just look good together) and it'd be another human, relatable character alongside Flash. I say have John Stewart in this film then do Hal Jordan as the star of a solo GL movie. If you can put aside your preconceived notion it makes sense to give Hal another human co-star and it would reinforce the whole "rookie becomes the greatest Green Lantern" angle. And Biel is a good choice! They were obviously going to go with someone younger and more all-American and I think Biel is about the best of the possible choices. Salma Hayek?? She's about 5 ft! Not Wonder Woman material.

I don't remember what year it was, but she was either in FHM or Stuff circa 2002-2004. And, let's just say she had the look, and the build. Didn't watch a lot of JAG, but it seems like her acting was alright. She's 39 years old, and I'm largely basing this on one of her magazine photo shoots. Too me, it's far more appealing than Biel or most of the flavor of the day actresses. Admittedly, Lindsey Lohan is pretty hot, and probably needs to negotiate with Hugh Heffner, but she's not right for Wonder Woman either. And, thank God it's not Alba. Let's face it, Bell is too old for your typical casting director. They'll trade acting chops, and the right look, for the younger no-talented chicks any day.

So they're looking for names over the right actors?

    by inwosuxred

I'm moderately surprised. Is Van Wilder still Flash? If Brandon Routh isn't camping in front of Miller's house and washing his car and polishing his balls, he is an idiot. This could be his last shot at a decent job.

They didn't even bother to have the same guy play Batman in the Batman movies, why would you expect them to for this either? It would be smart of them to have already cast Bale & Routh and act like they won't, since that will get them a few extra free mainstream news stories. Story 1, they aren't in the movie. Story 2, Routh is in. Story 3, Bale is in! Story 2 & 3 will of course make no mention of how they got Story 1 wrong.

    by half vader

Ick. That'd distract me for the whole flick!

I know it's obvious, but Lucy Lawless. She's not doing anything at the moment is she? And only a quick jump across the pond. I like older for Justice League. Ross' art makes sense as young super heroes getting together seems more like hero college or training school or something. Seems like a natural fit to go out, do your stuff, then years later get together with your mates and kick some arse.

My fingers are crossed. Miller has never made a bad film (as distinct from a film people disagree about). On the other hand, they want to start SHOOTING in Feb., it's almost October and they haven't started work yet. Bloody suits and tail-wagging-the-dog fit the release date mentality.

    Motion capture or not?

    by oisin5199

Every article says something different. When there was a report that some Australian actress had been approached, they said it was going to be an entirely motion capture film, which is the only way this will work. Otherwise, it totally undermines the other franchises.

    by carmillavondoom

Hopefully we're talking on the level of Darkseid? If that were the case,
I doubt Batman would just 'have a protein shake and go to bed.' There
are good reasons why Bats chooses to work with the League. There IS a wider DCU out there beyond the one (one!) movie that Bale was in.

"Shy Love", the porn star, is the perfect Wonder Woman. She has the look and the body. Also, since WW was created by William Moulton Marston, a Harvard PhD in Psychology, as a way to explore BDSM within the popular culture, Shy Love brings the added benefit of professional experience. We could see a WW movie which ring her creator's vision to the big screen. Also, the fanboys will be happy.

    by philvis

I didn't even think of Lucy Lawless. I think she would be pretty good actually. If they don't get Routh for Superman, they should get the guy who plays Superman in that World's Finest trailer movie thing that was made a handful of years ago for the net. He looks exactly like Superman. Also, since Batman is supposedly only going to be in costume for this flick, they can focus more on the acting ability and build as opposed to a certain look. I really have my hopes up for this movie to be something good. X-Men was a decent franchise, but I grew up with DC, so this is what I have been waiting for. I just wish Hal Jordan would stop getting the cold shoulder from DC lately.

I think it would be a mistake for them to recast Supe and Bats. If they can't get Routh or Bale, why not give it to someone else who has played the part previously. Maybe Kilmer or Clooney for Bats? Clooney has always said he wanted to take another shot at the role. As for Supes, there is always Dean Cain, Gerard Christopher, or Tom Welling. Just an idea.

Another person who had the look, and body for Wonder Woman, was Claudia "Babylon 5" Christian. Probably not as good as Bell, but another good look's choice during the 1990's. Acting-wise...so-so. Why all the young looking superheros

    by lance2769

This movie is a fucked up concept to begin with (going against what the new Batman and Superman movies have already established) but why all the young looking superheros? In the comics, these crime stoppers are portrayed as good looking but mature people with ordinary abilities. Christian Bale as Batman has been the only example in recent comic book movies as the prefect casting. Tobey Macguire as Spidey is suppose to be young so he doesn't count. Jessica Biel is sexy as hell but you might as well call her Wonder Girl. She has that baby face with a sexy body that wouldn't work and people would think is another WB TEEN movie. I agree that Monica Belucci would be an awesome Wonder Woman. She is the prefect age and has the prefect look PLUS, she's taken more seriously as an actor than Jessica. Even, Kate Beckinsdale would be a notch up. Brandon Routh was a good Superman but he still looked more like SuperBoy. Jim Caviziel would have been the perfect choice. I know that Christopher Reeves was in his very early twenties when he played Superman but he is a prime example of someone who was young but still had a mature look about him that allowed his character to be more believable. And don't get me started on all of the Fantastic Four castings. It was not as bad as a WB movie casting but pretty close. FOR ONCE, cast these superhero characters look like their names ask them to be: WonderWOMAN, SuperMAN, AquaMAN, etc. Enough of the teeny bopper looking crime fighters!

    by emeraldboy

and Zeta Jones were the only choice.in the 1990's. Lawless ruled herself out sometime ago. She didnt want to another Kick ass heroine after Zena. There was alot of talk that she may one day do a zena movie. But she shot that down. I think she was sick of zena when she finished it. Catherine Zeta Jones is too frosty though she looks like wonder woman. Wonder woman requiers the female actor to play a dual role and the audience has to have thier belief suspended. Biel is not that good of an actress. though she looks fit. Lynda Carter and Helen Slater had that sixties wholesome appeal which Biel doesnt have. If they were going to cast anyone I would say alba. But many here dont like here. I would be very happy to see the actress who played solange appear in a brassier and panties for two hours or Eva green. those two were hotness in casino royale or isla fisher or melissa George.

I agree with an earlier comment: Woman in Hollywood don't age like everyday woman - they can afford NOT to. Monica Bellucci is an ageless wonder. In terms of actual age, she is much 'older' than Jessica Biel but in terms of appearance, she is far sexier and young enough looking to still play WonderWoman in this film and in any sequels. Remember her in the Matrix 2 with that tight, sexy latex dress? Or in Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula as one of Dracula's brides? She still looks the same today. She's atheletic, mature, sexy and a great actress.

    Fantastic Four done right?

    by archive

This film is Warner's attempt at snatching the same crowd that loved Fantastic 4, and for a sense of tone and performance, we should look more to 'Beyond Thunderdome' than the renditions of Max more widely hailed by dork fandom. They want a bunch of youth-friendly characters in a high-adventure setting with pulp and flash, and JLA is a good place to look and has the potential to launch countless franchises, in the same way Fox is hoping to do with X-Men. For a film like that, Biel is a fantastic choice - she's game for stunts, she's ready to have fun, and she's a good actor to boot. This is a movie where we want to see the actors having a good time. We are not meant to believe a man can fly in this one, and showing us the wires a little lets us in on the good time. In a film like this, the cast is a tour guide to movie magic.

When I was thinking of her for this role, I studied a few photographs of her at www.imdb.com (internet movie data base) and, while finding her Wonder Woman hair style, I would imagine the right hair color. needs to step away from these silly heroes. The only time him and Supes should be screen sharing is if they do a proper Dark Knight based on Frank Miller's graphic novels where Bats beats Super Man's ass with the armor and tank. And George Miller hasn't directed proper action since '85. Dear lord this will suck.

    by cocolopez

I'm off topic as usual. Monica Bellucci- while having possibly the best rack in the business- can't come off as American with her voice- which Wonder Woman obviously needs to be. Whatever. All these casting ideas are just getting me horny. Mary Elizabeth Winstead- goddamn. She's so fucking hot in Death Proof. Actually- whoever said Diora Baird- I can see her at least looking perfect as WW.

    by rbatty024

respect thanks to his recent animated fare, but the combination of news that this is going to be live action, no Bale or Ruth, and now this has me doubting the stability of this project. In another forum someone mentioned that Superman and Batman should look older, to insinuate that this takes place years after their own franchises, which I'm in favor of. DC has a lot of catching up to do in terms of number of films (certainly not in quality) because Marvel has really beaten them to the punch in regards to these superhero films.

or great minds think alike. Lawless has the look. I'm sure Alex Ross thinks so. But that's just looks, I don't care as long as the chick can act.

In relation to Bellucci, is WW actually supposed to have an American accent? Obviously I'm not a WW fan (except for the Adam Hughes covers), but she comes from an island of Amazonians right? Is it just off the coast of America? Or was she a kid when she got there? People generally don't lose their accents if they hit the new place when they're in their teens. An accent wouldn't bother me, and fits the whole Amazonian 'exotic' thing.

It's pretty funny, fanboy casting. Ooh! (insert Buffy actor) would be perfect! Then, Ooh! (insert Angel actor) would be perfect! Then Ooh! (insert Firefly actor) would be perfect! Then Ooh! (insert Heroes actor) would be perfect!...

    Anne Hathaway

    by mr. profit

Sure she may not be an action hero, but neither was Keanu until he trained. With training she could be right. She also comes with a built in audience. Both those lame Princess movies made over 100 mil, and Devil Wears Prada did very well for her. So she could be right for the part Hathaway is a young woman who can act, who fits the look and is tall enough, who coincidentally can open a film on her own. Casting her would be a no brainer, but watch them cast an unknown like that big face chick who is the new Bionic Woman.

The whole random casting suggestions that do not go beyond the "Buffyverse" are annoying. Charisma Carpenter is not a good actor. She was good at being a bitch which doesn't take that much acting skill, especially when the quips that she was given to say (by the talented writers) were pretty clever. The chick from Firefly is kinda small framed. And Monica Belluci is beautiful, but does she seem like a low rent Zeta Jones to anyone else? And I agree with the Mary Elizabeth Winstead suggestion someone mentioned above. she could probably handle the role, and she is tall.

go back to reading your celebrity magazines. Stars don't make a difference anymore. You think it's going to make a difference if a star is a superhero in a justice league movie, actually not having Bale who isn't a movie star but a well respected actor is actually going to affect the film negatively.

    by filmfanatic1

The JLA movie is getting built by the studio hacks, and Miller is letting them; this is stunt casting that will ruin this film the way the 1st FF film went.

Look at Alba in that; she looks perfect until she open her delicate mouth; Biel has one film, "The Illusionist" that she actually got to act. At least Baccarin can act, as far as Firefly is concerned.

But WB wants eye candy first, good acting second; if only Nolan was directing this; he'd stand up against them.

With modern filming techniques, huge men have been made to look like dwarves, and small men to look like hobbits, and very convincingly.

And let's not forget her stint in "Bloodrayne". As for Jessica Biel getting in shape, has anyone seen her lately? Jessica Biel is already "built". She never lost the weight she gained for Blade 3, and has only gotten more solid. It's to the point that gossip blogs call her She Hulk. And I agree, Shannon Elizabeth would be good dressed as Wonder Woman only if she is promoting the Justice League video game at E3.

Hollywood will NOT cast old - forget Belucci

    by shiftyeyeddog2

Monica Belucci is fine, but theyll never cast her. MARK MY WORDS: They're going to skew these characters as young as they can, because they want the teens and 20-somethings to hand over their cash. Pretty much plan on no one over 30. This'll end up looking like Smallville, but in costumes. Do it MoCap, or dont do it at all, because I guarantee there's no way they're going to portray the characters accurately.

    Casting news

    by spideyk

You may remember me as MrParker..I used to post on here...those who do can vouch for authenticity..I spilled the beans on SpiderMan 3 about a year before release and with an update 6 months later..also lots of stuff on X3..all came to pass, every detail. Anyhoo, not a DC guy (pretty obvious) but close links (link) within the biz and what those on other side of the pond are doing..what I've been told is that the Supes casting is gonna piss people off...Welling is out the picture, in all senses, most casting is going to be of the Biel, Reynolds, hot young thing, young WB type, pretty boys and girls who can last 3 rounds for the planned sequels and will have no quiblles about their artistic integrity..Batman is probably more like the Burton batman of '89 etc, almost a peripheral character, Supes will at as a lead for the team, but the script is cetred around WW and it will be the secondary characters and specifically WW who will have the most screentime..be under no llusions that this is anything more than a springboard for spinoffs and more sequels for the next 7-8 years..GL, Flash, WW, AM, Supes, Bats etc and JL. I have heard a mooted around idea of doing a villain centric JL film down the road also - Luthor, Black Adam, etc sounds crap to me and hope they don't completely flood the market. No Darkseid, no Luthor, load of cameos that most of the audience won't get..the bad guys are the good guys here, no massive threat unfortunately..but a good throwdown between yep, Supes and.......Bats (this has already been leaked I think!?)..I very nearly got into a bit of shit for the SM3 stuff I leaked..but DC not much to do with me. Anything I get I'll post, Harry feel free to e-mail me, as I do not want to post certain specific points (casting not yet signed etc) as I'm not 100% on it and also cause as you probably knwo as much as I do and don't want to post stuff you dont want to leak..sure I'll get 'flamed' but take what you want from the above..

    by antz

According to the article at Dark Horizons... "The characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and Martian Manhunter comprise the League.

The 'Lantern' of this film is John Stewart, whilst The Flash is the youngest member and has a crush on Wonder Woman.

Batman has a piece of technology he developed called the 'Redeye', that he can use to spy unbeknownst on the other League members. It becomes a catalyst for events when a villain takes control of it, whilst one of the League members will 'go bad'."

No, there's only one name associated with this production that matters, and that name is GEORGE F#@&%N MILLER! I think it would matter if the director was a Bryan Singer or a McG or (fill in the name of the latest director who's first film was a promising indie) type. But come on, this man's a real director (an artiste even)! Let's give credit to the studios for going with such a bold choice for (what I'm sure they consider to be) their prized character properties. The Mad Max series, The Witches of Eastwick, The Babe movies, and Happy Feet attest to this man's creative mastery. I for one am stoked about this movie regardless of who plays the Martian Manhunter.

I'm sure all the Jessica lovers out there will hurl shit at me for that, but that's the way I feel. She's a pretty shit actress and a rather uninspired choice for Wonder Woman. If this goes ahead, I might just hate this casting almost (ALMOST!) as much as I hate that other Jessica playing Sue Storm in the FF movies. But I must say, I'd take Biel over Monica Belluci anyday. Belluci's a hottie for sure, but her "acting" stinks. ...from Rome, who played Gaia: the only woman who was tough enough for Titus Pullo (and I won't spoil the details of how she got him or where their relationship goes). Sure, she's a little short, but comes across about as Amazonian as any woman I can think of in recent memory (in not-so-recent memory, how about Helen Mirren 30 years ago?), and I had to check IMDB before I knew she wasn't particularly tall. If you have questions as to how Robinson would come across as a fighter, just watch her in the gang fight scene one or two episodes from the end of the series. AND she has a distinctly Mediterranean or Spanish look to her, which fits WW's geographical origins. Anyway, if you haven't watched Rome, you may not be able to see the appeal just from still photos of her.

Kind of..just is it THE Martian Manhunter....I was told it is a number of 'turns' that happen, not just one member...to be honest, I know this is all moving ahead and has gone through various incarnations now - animated, mocap, live action, blend etc, but it amazes me that this is going to be pulled off..I do worry taht anyone going in with expectations of some huge, integalactic, epic superhero film are going to be disappointed. This looks more intimate, a scaled down super hero team up film..more about the league relationships and consequences of trust and betrayals within it than a huge external threat..though again, think it's safe to say it will be much mor 'epic' than X-men 1

Sandman is done with, not meant to eb a villain as it was, Green Goblin is done with, Venom is a completed storyline..names to keep an eye on (I have NEVER been wrong about this) Robert Knepper, Dylan Baker. But making it about Indy Jr. and John McClane's daughter and lil' Darth and lil' Boba SUCKS. I want a hero for a change. Not Shia saving the day because my heroes can't get the job done.

PLEASE someone READ THIS that works at WB!!!

    by sledgehammer5050

I am begging you not to rush this thing. Please!! Think about this for a second....Justice League is a movie made for the fans. You might attract a few people here and there that are not into the comics...but, for the most part, you are making a movie out of characters that not EVERYONE may be familiar with. Sure, superman and batman, but after that? The only thing people know about Aquaman, the Green Lanterns, the Flash, Wonderwoman, and the Martian Manhunter are from the cartoons in the past or failed TV shows. Please wait for the current Batman/Superman projects to pan out. Then, put Batman and Superman together first before a Justice League movie. Not everyone knows all the characters from the J.L. but EVERYONE knows who Superman and Batman are. They are ICONIC!!!! Everyone will want to see a Batman/Superman movie, not just the fans. Then, when you've made a BIG draw out of that movie (with Bale and Routh IN them), create a Justice League movie, with Bale and Routh, and people will be more likely to see it because they have a familiarity to the Batman/Superman project. PLEASE for the first time ever keep some continuity! It worked for the animated Batman all the way to Justice League unlimited....it will work in real-life movies too. Please don't ruin such a cool idea for the fans!!!!!

    by jimbobcooter

Um, the Happy Feet guy is also "The Road Warrior" guy, which is pound for pound one of the greatest action films ever. And REAL action that holds up, not CGI crap.

But the actors strike is why they are rushing this. And rushing with an incomplete script has never made a good movie.

Bale, Routh, and the JLA Hoopla

    by elvis cole lives

Lemme start by sayin' that I wouldn't have minded seeing Bale and Routh in the JLA movie. Simply for the sake of "continuity." Hopefully, that establishes my bona fides. Now, on to my point.Anybody here ever read a comic book? Checked out the art work? Criticized or lauded the writing? The point is both facetious and serious. Of course we have. Now I ask you: is Miller's Batman the same as O'Neill's? How about Loeb's Superman when compared to, say, Byrne's? Different, right? Same characters, but slightly different interpretations? We've heard the incessant belly-aching about the JLA movie's Superman and Batman being played by actors other than Routh and Bale, but I ask you, is it so hard to look at this JLA movie as simply a different artist's interpretation of the DC universe.Much the same as we don't criticize that Turner's Superman doesn't look like Ross's, I don't think it's too big a stretch to see different actors in these roles, provided it's not a fiasco. I want to give these production (especially with Miller involved) as much trust and leeway as I can.And on the topic of Biel's age and the "WB"-ing of the cast -- first, she's the first one announced so I find the knee-jerk reaction a little suspect and, second, she'll be 26 when filming starts, not exactly "The OC" age.And just so not to miss anything -- I got ZERO problems with Ryan Reynolds as Flash (woo hoo, actually). He'll be 31 when filming starts and can certainly "play" younger, if necessary.I'd definitely go just a little older with Supes and Bats, though. Maybe mid-30s, to establish a sort of "gravitas" to their characters when compared to the others.Martian Manhunter, though, I'd probably go even older with -- 40ish?Just my 2 1/2 cents worth.

    by stereochad

...action. Well if your idea of action is only fight scenes, then perhaps you believe Paul Greengrass should be directing the damn thing. As for me, I think the way the (Sea lion) chase scenes in Happy Feet were choreographed were pure kinetic poetry (and vicious too!). And the scene with those penguins sliding down the glacier (ahead of the avalanche) were rock solid too. How about the way the sequence where the pitbull chases the pig (in Babe: PITG) was staged? Brilliante! It was almost comic-booky yes? That is all.

This is a no-brainer. She has acting chops, the fight choreography /stunt experience from her years as Xena.

Wonder Woman has to be physically threatening. Just try to imagine Jessica B. or Monica Baccarin trying to take on a Darkseid or Grundy single-handed. It aint happening folks. Lawless could convey inner strength with just a look across a crowded room.

Scrawny, cute girls may work for tv, (Firefly, Buffy, Bionic woman...) but were talking about the mother of all freakin superheroines here. I say lets cut the B.S. and cast someone who looks like they can take a damn punch!

Holy Bat Sh!t Crazy - Part Deux!

    by sirbroiler

Hey Abin Sur - YEAH YOU! 3 Batmans in 4 movies is your justification for having an alternate Batman in JLA! I'm sorry - did you actually see Batman Forever/Batman & Robin and how they killed that franchise?

If Warners/DC want to make this movie some kiddie krap - then put in on Kids WB. Don't cheat the mature fans because you're desperate for a summer super hero tent-pole that will sell action figures.

Look how much time, effort and energy went into Superman Returns and the studio thinks that was a bomb (I don't agree and think Brandon should play Supes in JLA). This movie, the should be made, is being rushed. No doubt about it.

And as for George Miller - he may be a good director - but nothing on his resume, especially nothing in the past 10 years, can convince me that he's the best director for this movie.

Smallville's good, but Superman it ain't. Superboy was a heap of super-shit. And go back and watch Lois and Clark. and try looking at me with a straight face and tell me that was good super hero storytelling.

This has Fantastic Four written all over it.

oh hell with it, jessica biel is an averagely cute WASPy chick who can look good in the right clothes, but she aint got it in the body type for an Amazonian Princess. 2 skinny. no rear end.

    ...and absolutely no stage prescence.
the role of Wonder Woman requires an actress, not a model.

kate winslet, monica belucci, catherine zeta-jones, or callie thorne (from the old homicide show)...any of them... but jessica biel is the one choice ( for me anyway)of who NOT 2 cast as Wonder Woman.

sure Smallville isn't superman. It's at least 8 years before he becomes superman. Do you not understand character development, in the comics, clark didn't become proactive in being a superhero till immeadiately before he became one, he didn't take a long time to decide like batman with planning etc. Tom Welling isn't Superman but he most definately is Clark Kent. Perfect post-crisis Clark Kent. But he could be Supes, he has the exact look and height, all he has to do is work on the voice.

Chris Bale and Chris Nolan don't want Warners to do JLA

    by bduncan

I'm not sure about Routh, but the reason there's no chance of Chris Bale playing Batman in a JLA film is that Warners have no contract in place for him, but only for 3 Batman films (and he'd want too much anyway) and both himself and director Chris Nolan complained to Warners, as they want them to finish the 3 Batman films they're contracted to make, before starting on a JLA film in maybe 5 years time, but Warners are pushing on anyway, as they're very pleased with the JLA film's script and don't need any A list star actors for it.

are you trying to say the clark kent from smallville is a whiney baby? you'd have to watch all the episodes to say that which would say it's not true, considering this is the toughest take no shit clark kent there is next to golden age. second think for a second, smallville at the moment takes place years before he becomes superman, reading too much DC i think where people go 'i have powers, i shall save the world', life isn't that easy, it's been now 7 years and clark still hasn't decided to become a superhero, in the comics he decides right before he actually becomes one. I can't believe some people are this stupid to think people don't change over time, there is nothing in smallville to say that in 8 years he will not be superman. That would be like saying Bale wasn't Batman based on the flashback version because he wanted to kill someone. Character development dickhead.

    by sledge hammer

...she's not terrible, but she doesn't have the screen charisma or acting talent to pull off such a major role. Just because someone starred in a Whedon show doesn't mean they are perfect for everything. Speaking of Whedon alum Carpenter I could at least live with, but her acting range aint exactly monumental either, at least from all evidence demonstrated thus far. Honestly though, we need someone statuesque (she is, after all, a damn amazon), and someone who has genuine presence and charisma, as one of the DC trinity she can't be someone who will disappear into the crowd of heroes or blend in, like Bats and Supes she has to be a strong enough presence to sell being a hero that even the other heroes look up to, someone who can sell the authority and dignity of that role, and just hiring someone who looks purty in the costume aint gonna do that.

The way to make this movie is to forget all this bullshit and let George Miller do whatever the hell he wants. I know as members of the nerd community it is difficult to let go of this baggage but holy jesus, you just had ten Christmases fall into your lap by having this guy not only direct a big movie, but direct your dream nerd movie. This is a guy who creates worlds, whether it's a MAD MAX world or the worlds of pigs and penguins. The guy is a genius AND an old school action master, I don't think there's anybody else who has both of those qualities and is still allowed to direct big budget movies today. Instead of saying so-and-so's eyebrows are too rounded to match the drawing on page 23 you should be saying HOLY SHIT, GEORGE GOD DAMN MILLER THE MASTER OF CINEMATIC CHASE SCENES is gonna do a movie with the magic running fast guy from my children's cartoon books!
In my opinion you should put all your action dolls in a pile and burn them in sacrifice to the movie gods for bringing you this gift.
And the best part is I bet he'll finally get to do MAD MAX 4 after this one.

How is this film a good idea? Seriously, it will come out as the slightly down syndrome bastard lovechild of Bryan Singer's X-Men and FF. It doesn't matter who you cast in it, it will blow.

Jesus, all you TOO SOONers out there - you guys do realize we're in the 21st century, right? The movie won't even be out until 2009, and you guys want to wait for Nolan to finish all 3 of his Batman movies? Listen, this movie will trounce the ever-loving shit out of any X-Men film...you're going to have THREE of the most recognizable superheroes in the WORLD on the screen, along with some big-time geek favorites. And some of you want to wait until 2014? I'll say it again: George Miller directing, Barrie Osborne producing...show me the bad.

    Jessica in "Blade Trinity"

    by mr. profit

She got cast very late and spent 2 months training. It was mostly for Archery, but I think she did fine for only 2 months time. Most people get 4 months prior to shooting. Since Blade she has only gotten stronger by training every damn day. It's as if she knew that if she flooded the gossip blogs with candid shots of her lifting weights, doing flips, and getting strong that she'd get this job. And it seems to have all worked. And I don't get the "She has no ass!" comments, Jessica has got a nice bubble now. Maybe the Mods should change the fucking picture already. Seriously, it's giving everyone the wrong impression about her physique. She's not that hot in the face, and I don't think she'd look too hot with black hair, but at least we dont have some 5'4 "Buffyverse" bitch who did a couple of taebo classes to do some stunts and people think she is the next Bruce Lee.

Catherine Bell (JAG) in Stuff Magazine circa 2003

    by tylermo

I realize it will not happen, but just find the cover of Stuff Magazine October 2003 with Catherine Bell from JAG. Tell me the hair and body aren't right, and that she couldn't fill the cups. Maybe skinnier than Lynda Carter, but close enough. :-) http://www.mopublishing.com/stuff2003.htm then scroll down to the october cover. A lot closer than Biel. Bell's 39 now, and I'm sure she's still closer to the WW look than Biel.

I didn't watch much of JAG, but just remember Catherine Bell in her naval dress uniform, and think of Lynda Carter from the old series. With some glasses, Bell could even have the Diana look.

Yeah, not too bad. But, I still think she'd be like Katherine McPhee and Shannon Elizabeth. Great choices for a top-of-the line, best in show Wonder Woman model at DragonCon, but not entirely right for a movie. McPhee's isn't even an actress that I know of. She's got a great singing voice, and she's definately a cup-filler. hehe

I'm content enough with a good Batman series of movies, but if this is any good, so much the better. And you know why this is being made: spin-offs, spin-offs, and more spin-offs. How about Guy Pearce for Batman?

    by a goonie

I'm sure it'll never happen and I have no idea if Pearce would even be interested, but his was a name tossed around a whole lot by us geeks back when Batman: Year One and then later Batman Begins were in the works. Bale rules in the role, but if someone else had to do it, Pearce would be high on my list. Also, greekhammer mentioned Tom Jane above. Another good choice. And I'd wet my pants for days if Dushku signed on for Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman should be an unknown

    by mattyboy122

The character's outfit/backstory/powers/behavior/etc is so damn ridiculous that once you get anybody we've seen before playing Wonder Woman it'll be impossible to take her seriously. I mean, for fuck's sake, she inexplicably wears star-spangled undies, is an Amazon from some island populated solely by females, shouts out 'Great Hera!' whenever she's in danger and has a magic lasso that gets people to tell the truth. Wonder Woman is ridiculous. It takes the right balance of tone, and somebody who can completely inhabit the role (so we aren't pulled out of the film by how ridiculous it is) to pull of such a character. Biel is hot, but totally wrong. These guys need to be searching Mediterranean locations for women, not picking up an established actress.

    by longshot7

looked at the tinyurl link - Biel is NOT in shape (yet) to play Wonder Woman. Look at her arms - she needs to be BUILT. Look at Beth Phoenix or Xena-era Lucy Lawless (who is too old now) - that's what we want.

    Guy Pearce

    by half vader

Or since Priscilla, "Girl" Pearce, will need some boxes to stand on. Not sure how tall exactly, but I was standing next to him at a party for a sec and he was shorter than me, and I'm 5'6"! Great actor though, which of course is what counts. Still fun though.

Did anyone see that "Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman statue that just came out? All muscular, but in the sinewy/anorexic way. Just made her look gross, and old.

John C Reilly for Batman. You know it'd work!

I read the same stuff that was on UGO around two-three weeks ago from a link that was on Dark Horizons. I would try and go find it, but I don't have time. It also had a list of potential stars they wanted, one of which said Bruce Willis as Lex Luthor was top choice. I'm not sure if it is for real, but they give away what could be the ending and the major twist, but it could all be B.S.

Now that you said you saw this weeks ago, methinks SpideyK isn't. I guess I just have my doubts when someone comes along saying they know all this stuff about an upcoming movie. That's what I'm skeptical of. And you bet your ass little people would be the ultimate JLA movie. You plop those undersized people in anything and you have instant classics. Imagine how much better Gone with the Wind could have been with little people? Or the Wizard of Oz? Well..maybe not the last one, that would be just plain silly.

First Alba and now Biel . . . WTF?!?!

    by violator90

The Justice League is a monumental work to achieve and that is just talking about a decent one to make. Hollywood looks like it wants to shit on every thing, and I mean EVERY THING with favor-of-the-month actors instead of actors that actually fit the parts. Jessica Alba as Sue Storm any one? Do I even have to say how tortuous her acting was on my eyes and countless others? Of course not, every one in the whole world witnessed her acting prowess and got to see her in bra and panties; which was all that was really needed from her anyways. Really? What else does she offer? Besides yum yum tatas and a sweet ass, nothing! Biel is the same thing and nothing more. Yes, she has a better body but the acting is pretty much the same thing. I can’t even believe Hollywood wants to go this way with a project like Justice League. This movie could be huge if-again- done right! But by the track record that Hollywood has its going to be as some one put it, a giant shitfest with more pissed off fans. Transformers made money, every one knew it was and there is no denying it would, but was the movie faithful to the source material and to the fans? HELL NO! Was Transformers a good movie? Not really but because of the loyal following it made the movie what it is. Movies like Transformers and Justice League SHOULD be made a la PIXAR. Look at the track record they have had. Every movie was a visual gem and a story that was enjoyable for all. Look at Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, that blew me away. But in the end its really up to Hollywood as to what they want us to see and then vomit right after watching it. I have a really bad feeling about this.
