Who's considering playing Jigsaw in PUNISHER 2?!?
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, we got a heads up from a reader known as "Darren" about a blog that is supposedly run by noneother than Paddy Considine, star of DEAD MAN'S SHOES and one of the Andys in HOT FUZZ. On this blog he mentions being offered PUNISHER 2 and when asked by a blogger what role, he comes back immediately and says Jigsaw, the villain. He's reading the script today, apparently, and will make his decision.
I actually really like that casting if it pans out. It's not really my first thought, but if you've seen DEAD MAN'S SHOES, then you know he can bring it. Let's hope the script is better now and he wants to do it!

So I don't really know either way. The first one was alright, but I don't feel any excitement about this movie.
-
Interest in this movie dropped to below zero after Tom Jane passed on the sequel.
-
If this film is done right. First and foremost it has to be a complete redo, jettisoning that horrible last Punisher film, which contrary to popular belief is actually a worse film and captures the character even less than the Lundgren version.
-
See, in this one, he kills criminals. With guns.
-
And would like to see an actual canon villian (or at least some Angel Dusted kids ala Miller). These films really need to be Zeckafied. One can dream I guess.
-
I'd got the impression that Lionsgate gave him the boot, but he seems like one of the few aspects of the first film that was unequivocally good. Did they just clean house, or did he leave for some other reason, or what?
-
I just hope they give him as awesome a wig as Travolta had in the last one. THEN everything will be okay with this movie.
-
...left because he thought the script given to him was weak. He didn't think that at this point in his career, he'd survive something that bad and still get serious roles offered like Stander. Too bad his following choices have not lived up to his aspirations. He is better than toilet swipes like 'Mutant Chronicles'.
-
... this news is possibly the only thing that could have made me interested in this film.
-
Hmmm is this site still called Aint-it-cool-news or Aint-it-beh-news?
Just kidding, I love it since 1996. -
It a slasher movie with substance. I just loved it. I wished the dvd had subtitles though
-
Jamieandteddy.com, and its password is "jllovesth". You'll see a three-minute video of the actress who will play Jamie Lescano in the movie talking to Rob in a video message.
-
I really like Paddy Considine and I think at some point he could be pretty big, and for that reason he really shouldn't be doing Punisher 2. The first Punisher is still the only movie I have ever walked out on, and no one is going to see the sequel.
Why does aintitcool keep posting updates for this film? Yes, The Punisher could be a good adaptation, but its not exactly in good hands. They update every bit of news on this film as if we're biting at the heels for it. I don't know, must be a slow news day.

Narp....

Say what you will about 'The Mist,' but it's not likely to be any worse than this. Then again, neither film has come out yet, so who knows?
-
I guess most of you haven't watched Rome. Ray Stevenson is perfect for the role. It'll be a bonus if Paddy is in the movie, as well.
-
Just curious because of the comment about wanting a "canon" villain. I'm pretty sure Jigsaw has been around for a few minutes...
-
Paddy is really good. was surprised he was in Bourne 3 and expected him to be like this slimy Nemesis baddy to Bournes super Spy but relieved he played a scared everyman in way over his head in a very non glam role that ended surprisingly and was another sterling performance from himIn America broke my heart, A Room For Romeo Brass scared the shit out of the kid in me, Dead Mans Shoes was tough as fuck and I wish he'd been in This is England because it would have the cherry on the top of an already amazing movie! i'm Sure if he does his bit on the Punisher 2 his performance will be great whatever the rest of the cast and crew are getting up to and lets face it it can't be much worse than the previous efforts although I like Thomas Jane and thought his Punisher was reasonably watchableI'll watch Paddy in owt me so fuck it I think this sounds like a fun flick now! and if it's bullshit then I'll watch it anway coz I'll watch fuckin anything!
-
and he was funny as fuck in HotFuzz which was funny as fuck!
-
that's who
-
hopefully and keep this project worthless.
-
If this happens, this is already a better cast than the last film. Btw, Paddy kicked ass in '24 Hour Party People'. Literally.
-
kicks ass! Seriously, do yourself a favor and add it to your Netflix queues. Considine is fuckin' bad-ass in it.
-
I didn't even realize I was watching the same man in both movies. Wow. I'm pretty sure that Paddy Considine could make me believe anything.
-
i gush with love for that film. my favourite bit is the palm of the hand bit. just makes me think 'wow. u hard motherfucker'
-
i loved how punisher didn't really kill anybody. he just set them up to have their feelings hurt.
-
This guy redefines intensity ('Dead Man's Shoes' was a ball tearing revenge thriller, based largely on his awesome performance...no one says "YOU! YA CUNT!" with more coiled aggression and acidity than he) and he's one of the finest actors working in films today. If he stars as a villain in 'Punisher 2', my hopes in it being a worthy adaptation are well on their way to being restored...Paddy is the fuckin' bomb!...and no I'm not his agent...but i still think he shoulda been "Rorschach'...
-
Paddy was pretty good in that too
-
Or these movies will continue to suck.
The Punisher is the story of a killer vigilante in Marvel New York, wake the fuck up people. Get Hellcat and Iron Fist (or any other b team characters) to finger out who is killing all their bad guys and you have something. -
would make this movie worth making.
and Jane was never right. -
This whole talk of jigsaw. Jigsy was nasty like the joker but a lacky as opposed to a cosmic force like the Kingpin.
I'd like to see a Capt. America/Punisher crossover live action. -
Paddy would probably make a good Punisher.
-
I've poured over the comments on the IMDB and the director herself seems like she's really got an iron grip on this one. I think it'll easily be better than the previous "Punisher" movies, in fact a necessary revamp with a tougher, meaner Punisher...
-
I realize that the hero is only as good as his/her villain. Dunno who this fellow is (yet), but I love me that Ray Stevenson. He has the perfect "ouch" factor to draw out the character of Frank Castle. Hopefully Lexi can catch it on film.
-
Oh wait, wrong series...
-
Haven't seen DEAD MAN'S SHOES, which I'll have to check out. But I did see IN AMERICA and THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM. He was excellent in both. He's not one I'd have imagined to play Jigsaw, but if he does I'll bet he brings something special to the role.
-
...just like the previous one. Seriously, that´s one smoking pile of MERDA...
-
Since no one answered fiester's query about his role, here goes. Considine played one of the two Andys. He was the one involved in the "You've got a mustache"--""I know" exchange. And for someone mostly featured in dramatic roles throughout his career, he was pretty damned hilarious. I still lose it just thinking about the Andys' introductory shot, Considine's mouth wide open and frozen, a forkful of cake at hand.

T. Jane nearly ruined by 1, now Consadine will be in 2?
by daddylonghead
Wise up, you deserve better roles. If Consadine takes this, it will be just like Colin Farrell in "Daredevil."
-
Paddy Considine is a great actor and could be a brilliant jigsaw. Equally Stevenson could be the perfect Punisher.
I know everyone keeps predicting impending doom for this movie because Thomas Jane passed on it, but Jane didn't work as the Punisher for me whatsoever. He just doesn't have the gravitas. And it didn't help that the first movie was one of the worst films I've seen in the last five years either.
Anyone who watched Rome will know that Stevenson has both the look, the acting chops and the gravistas to play the real Frank Castle.
I hope Considine takes the role as seeing him take on Ray in a violent, kiss-ass Punisher movie would be great. -
ray you're gonna rock as the punisher.
-
As a big fan of ROME I thought he was bloody brilliant: lumbering, tough, violent, compassionate, complex, warm - he will rock as The Punisher. He brings class to this project I just hope it doesnt end up on video.
-
Fact!
"Just putting it straight. I'm not gutted for not getting the movie. I've got quite a bit to be getting on with." - Paddy -
"...I've just been offered Punisher 2." That is classic!
-
I get to be shot in the balls! I am part of a strangely diverse gang who have varied ethnic backgrounds, but have been brought together by a mutual love of wearing leather and hanging out in dark alleys and acting tough in front of anyone who walks down said alley, even if they have multiple guns and a skull t-shirt... I am waiting to read the script before I decide if I will take it...
-
Kick their asses, Titus!
-
That's great. What is it with multi-cultural movie gangs? It's one of Vern's bug-bears too.I didn't see Death Sentence yet, but those baddies look like they are straight out of Police Academy 2.Precinct 13 is the only time it worked.
-
I was watching Death Sentence yesterday, and first I was like , Oh an old school Irish gang, then wait,no yeah I see a black guy, wait, yeah there's a hispanic guy, damn this gang looks like the United Nations.
-
SuperHeroHype is showing that LionsGate has pulled it's offer to Paddy. I guess there first choice declined, then agreed when he saw they were offering it to Considine... bummer. So who is the first choice... do you guys remember the rumor of Michael Keaton??
-
Oh no. Didn't they learn last time with Revolta?
-
ohh that's right. Lionsgate. The guys smart enough to let Tom Jane go and hand over the directing reigns to a woman.
-
coming Halloween.
-
I get lines!!! I get to say 'You tell 'im boss", after Street Punk #1 says "Guess you picked the wrong alley old man..." and then later I get to be part of group laughter when punk #1 says "Ain't Halloween for 2 months, Skeletor"... And I also get an agonizing scream after I have lost my family jewels... I was worried about the waiver I have to sign in regards to them placing a squib on my package, but they assure me it is almost unheard of for anything to go wrong on a movie set, so I have at least an 80% chance of leaving the set with all my goods... So look out for me bitches...
-
are you wearing sunglasses?
-
especially since the first 2 movies
were disapointing. And Lionsgate is so fucking cheap they couldn't fork up the budget to film the gulf war scene. Hopefully Paramount will start producing a movie based on Marvel's other badass anti-hero: Deathlok (dammit!) -
That scene where Considine is standing there with that crazy look on his face in the rain with water on his head... Wow. He was scary as fuck right there. Great fucking movie.
