Images From The Set Of HANCOCK!! See Will On His Butt & Theron Lifting Trucks!!

Published at:  Sep 12, 2007 7:54:29 PM CDT

Merrick here...

KaNkeRhOnD Extraordinaire sent in some photos from the filming of HANCOCK. This is the angsty, not-entirely-squeaky-clean superhero movie that was once called TONIGHT, HE COMES. That sounded kind of like a porn title, so they changed it to HANCOCK...which could also be twisted to sound like a porn title if one was smutty enough (which, evidently, I am if I noticed this).

Not sure what's going on in these shots. I hadn't heard anything about Theron's character being a superhero in this film...so I don't know what she's doing hoisting up that bigass truck. Maybe it's a dream/imagination sequence or something?

The film is directed by Peter Berg (THE KINGDOM, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, THE RUNDOWN) and is co-written by Berg and John August (who is also scripting the new SHAZAM movie).

Anyway, here are the pics. Thanks a ton to KaNkeRhOnD Extraordinair for sending them in...we really appreciate it.

Looks to me like Theron's kicking Will's ass!

    by thebluerosekiller

Maybe she plays his nemesis is this flick? THAT would be cool IMO.
Although, I still think they've definitely got to deep six that HANCOCK title & either go back to it's original monicker or come up with something else. I'm sorry, but I really think that HANCOCK will illicit more bad porno movie puns than TONIGHT, HE COMES would've and/or make much of the general public assume it's a comedy.

Isn't Hancock a comedy? I mean, the premise comes across as comedic, right?

    Theron in heels...

    by big dumb ape

I agree, is a very good thing indeed. For crying out loud, why can't SHE be cast in superhero franchise that requires the now standard Hollywood form-fitting leather costume and boots!

    THE PLOT

    by the real mirajeff

Will Smith is an alcoholic superhero with a PR crisis. That much I know. I'm pretty sure Jason Bateman plays his publicist who is charged with turning around his public image. And Theron is probably a mixture of love interest/nemesis with superpowers of her own. A friend of mine is working on it. I've heard only good things. They've shut down half of LA to shoot the thing. Will Smith as a superhero can only be a good thing, especially one with a refreshing take on the genre that introduces us to a new character rather than cast him as some second-rate Marvel hero that takes us through the same old origin story, etc. Love the interracial casting, if Smith and Theron do in fact hook up in the film, and Peter Berg is really coming into his own as a director, so keep your eye on this one. It's gonna be BIG.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. And I agree about Berg coming into his own. I'm REALLY interested to see what he will do with a superhero flick...

I like Berg as a director

    by bloo

he has shown a lot of growth and maturity. I know FNL was a pretty big success for him (I believe he got to direct in no small part because Bessinger is his...cousin? Some relation anyways) and The Kingdom looks good, he's really playing with the genre's here, black comedy, buddy comedy, sports drama, political thriller, superhero flick. He's turning into a real workhorse director.
