Odenkirk's movies have been bombing hard.

    by el scorcho

He should flee back to television with his tail between his legs. It will make better use of the little talent that he has.

Odenkirk + Cross = Legendary Comedy

    by tenaciousdrocks

el scorcho, have you not seen Mr.Show? granted, his movies have tanked but does that mean they were bad because they didn't make as much money as garbage like Transformers or another stupid comic book movie? his comedy requires a brain and that is something that most of America lacks. just because Middle America can't understand irony or satire doesnt mean its not funny. Odenkirk has more talent in his left gonad than you will ever dream of having.

Maybe this could be packaged along with Flight Of The Conchords next season. maybe they can even get Troy Miller to work with them again. Mr Show: The Next Generation.

    They both hate Troy Miller

    by inwosuxred

so I doubt they will work with him again. Bob had a few show ideas that were good way back when. David is good in just about anything. Bob's was great on Mr. Show, he was good as Manson on the Ben Stiller show, and he wrote "Bad Idea Jeans" for SNL, which was funny at the time.

Tim and Eric are way better than Mr. Show

    by drunkenirahayes

Mr. Show is far from being the best thing Odenkirk has ever worked on. He currently is exec. producer and occasional guest star on the funniest show on televison - Tim and Eric's Awsome Show Great Job! Why there is not a talkback about this proves that AICN is not so cool (or hip) when it comes to comedy.

Obviously, something new in the works for HBO by Bob & David makes my pants tight, but in a strictly hetero way. Hopefully it includes Choo-Choo, the Kurkey Jerkey Dancer in some fashion, or perhaps Champion, the drinker.

...And co-written with David Milch, featuring most of the casts of "Deadwood" and "The Sopranos", killing time until their next potboiler. Sure it's a one-joke show, but when the hell has that ever held a sitcom back?

Oh, you rapscallion. How you jest! You almost had me with that "Arrested Development" bon mot. ......... wait, you were serious? No, you couldn't possibly be serious. You and IraHayes are clearly having a joke at our expense. hahahaha..... you're not. Okay, I don't know what to do with you. grunty, the fact that you put Just Shoot Me and Arrested Development in the same paragraph speaks volumes. Ira, Tim & Eric is funny AT BEST 75% per show. AT BEST. I laugh, sure I do, but I spend just as much time scratching my head and saying, "what the fuck is funny about this?" You probably also suck the dick of Wondershowzen... "I'm confused. That MUST mean it's funny!"

    David Cross

    by birdybirdmanreturns

IN MY OPINION:The first time I ever saw a David Cross standup special was around the age of 13. His riffs in pre-9/11 late Clinton-era politics such as assisted suicide, organ donations and marijuana were very funny. This was back when he and Bob were firmly behind the reigns of Mr. Show, driving it on an uneven path into the Comedy hall of fame. This was good stuff.
Unfortunately after the slight resurgence of conservatism in post 9/11 America, Cross became extremely cynical. His string of creative production credits expanded and revealed occasional nuggets of genius, as well as an increasingly apparent over-reliance on the lazier side of stoner -humor placing him down among the B-ranks with the likes of David Arquette and Sarah Silverman rather than propelling him to the ranks of those keeping the genre piping hot on Adult Swim (or a good episode of South Park).
One of Cross's most appealing attributes back in the late 90s was the fact that he was still on the slightly vocal side of laid-back.
Over the year this attribute seems to have reversed itself, with relaxed nature eroding down to next to nothing with Cross's humor becoming jaded and wholeheartedly petty when it comes to getting behind actual "causes"
(A rambling open-letter to Larry 'The Cable Guy' written by Cross contains little humor and many accusations). Of course Larry is a hack, but attempting to mobilize against him, taking an ideological stance against him, seems like holding onto unnecessary stress for everyone. Can you really get that angry about the socioeconomic motivations behind Delta Force? That it will sell well in middle America and Wal-Mart? These didn't used to strike me as things that a comedian like Cross would spend time worrying about, now I can see him losing sleep over it.
Yes, Toby Keith is a deushbag, but it's still lazier to make fun of him than to come up with stuff as good as he did back when I was 13.
