Published at:  Sep 11, 2007 3:11:25 AM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

Writer-producer Jason Katims, who created the TV version of “Roswell” and currently serves as showrunner on NBC’s “Friday Night Lights,” will serve as a “consultant” on the network’s “Bionic Woman,” according to a TV Guide report by Michael Ausiello.

Katims, who last year wrote and produced Fox’s short-lived “Wedding Bells” as he oversaw “FNL,” will now split his time between “FNL” and “Bionic,” according to Ausiello.

“Bionic Woman” premieres Sept. 26.

    by charlie murphy

so brilliant, in fact, that i've blocked out the shittiness that was that half hour of The Wedding Bells i suffered through. i fucking love FNL. The bionic pilot, and i've said this a million times, isn't great. at all. but i like the writers and actors, so it's worth at least two or three episodes of my time before being dismissed.

to put on a new consultant on a show that is supposed to premire in what, 2 weeks? To me that signals that they are not happy with the current direction the show is headed or that it sucks and they are hoping to save the show, I may give this one more then a few views if it ends up being crapmy question is will this be single villian of the week or overall mythology or a combo of both

carouselambra thus the link to Dawson's Creekjust messing with ya Herc, I have 2 theories as to your idenity, the first one is that for awhile you were listed in the contacts as being named Rory something or other, which lead me to believe that "Herc" is just a psudenyom thingy for other AICNers to post stuff in coax without using their usual names/handles, the 2nd is that Herc posts a lot of Ausillo's links and they like the same stuff usually have same opinon on things...is is possible that herc is Ausillo

    by evilwizardglick

The show fucking sucks. All the cool shit that should have been done wasn't.
Once we get past the utter idiocy of a top secret doctor using his bar whore gf as a guinea pig, to her escape from a top secret facility we see the utter dumbness.
But they did ABSOLUTELY nothing cool.
Example there is a sniper scene. It would have been cooler if she had grabbed a pen off the floor and rifled it back through the bullet hole in the window. One of those unconscious wow look what I just did moments.
There was another where a cigarette is flicked. It would have been cooler if the butt went past her head and snapped the chainlink fence behind her.
Or an alley fight scene that could have been dobne better with a simple crushed wrist.
If I can see that shit why can't they?

to reshoot the pilot, this show is going to end up a tiny blurb on his future resume. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to make bionics seem really, really boring. Unless I hear Sasquatch makes an appearance in episode 2, I won't be watching anymore of this show.

    by johnian

The 1970s series was ok. There were some moments. I like the idea of a re-do for that - insert the character of Thade from the Burton flick. The idea of him using the astronauts' arrive for his political gain. Trying to push Dr. Zaius out of office. More substance than just action. It would be cool. I agree.

The pilot is now free on Amazon...

    by prof. pop-cult

You can download it for free from Amazon. Has anybody here checked it out and compared it to the version which was leaked onto the Bittorrents (the original in which Jamie's sister is deaf)? Is the pilot on Amazon the version to be aired on NBC, and is it any better? I'm not sure if I'm going to keep up with this series -- the pilot really was THAT uninspiring and dull. Sarah Connor Chronicles, on the other hand, was surprisingly decent.

Bionic Woman... ehh, not so much.

    by curious_jorge

So, this woman has three limbs and an eye replaced while she's unconscious. She wakes up, jumps out of bed and almost immediately is ready for combat. No physical therapy required. That's how paper-thin this plot is.

    Not So Bad, Actually

    by verisof

I disagree, Curious_Jorge. I watched the pilot closely and that little detail was explained fairly well. She has a chip they implanted at the same time to give her all kinds of expertise on these matters. In fact, that's what causes the BETA EDITION Bionic woman to lose it. She just turns into a killing machine without thinking about it.

Not the best pilot I'd ever seen, but I certainly thought it warranted watching the show. Looking forward to it, actually.

    Today's audiences...

    by snowpuff

They should have approached this series from more of a "Wolverine" type angle. START the series where all this shit has been done to her, she doesn't WHO, she doesn't know WHY. This would be superior for today's audiences, as everyone just rolls their eyes when you complete the exposition of the technology and the anthrocites or nanobots or whatever the fuck they threw in there. Leave it all more of a mystery. The explanation is never satisfying anyway.

In fact, if you did the series this way she could even live in our universe, where she knows all about the show The Bionic Woman and quips about her abilities.

    remake 'The Prisoner'

    by pviii

I've said it. I think the time is right, get some nice allegorical statements of todays war on terror/ rendition/ blacksites/ etc. without be too preachy, make it creepy, psychadellic, moody, and this could be a big hit. Give something for the LOST producers to do in a few years, or RDM.

I know most people wouldn't agree, but it's a series ripe for a remake IMHO. More so than Bionic Woman,an allegory for a modern woman living in a society run by men (ugh, kill me now).

    by _maltheus_

When executives start telling the creative types how to do their job, trouble always follows. This show has seen so much shuffling that it really doesn't have a chance anymore. I'll be interested to rewatch the pilot to see what's changed, but based on what I've been hearing about the show's style, I'll be too bored to make it to November sweeps. It's just as well, I despise this trend to remake everything.
