is there anyone who hasnt seen this trailer yet???

    by industrykiller!

Because, and I'm not sure if you AICN guys know this yet, it leaked after it was shown at comicon and was on youtube for a while. Thought pretty much everyone saw it then. Its very good stuff right up until the end when the "I AM IRON MAN" from the Black Sabbath song plays over the title. it's just incredibly cheesy.

Um - you know - something kinda amazing - this trailer has footage from that, but it also has shots not in that - and it's structured to be an actual TRAILER - not an 8 minute reel - that WE posted the second it first appeared online. Actually... that I posted from Northern California.

The 54 second TDK teaser is available in Glorious Quicktime at apple.com. @JeanLuck Dickhard: The TDK Joker is exactly the same as the original 1939 Joker and right down to the dark circles around his eyes. You don't know if he's a pussy or not. You haven't seen a stitch of footage, and if you had any real Star Trek TNG fan in you you would called yourself John Luck Pick-erd. @lovethatjoker: You're right, most people have probably never heard of Iron Man. People around here seem to think these semi-obscure Marvel characters are household names for some reason. Spiderman, Captain America, and Hulk are the only ones. Before X-men 1 hit, no one outside of a basement knew who they were and no one sure as hell knew knew who Daredevil or Ghost Rider was. Sorry, Geeks, but Iron Man is not a character that your Aunt Gertrude is gonna know. She'll know who Spidey is, though. @tristeele: What in the fuck are you on? Harry didn't post to "prove himself." He posted to make a correction. This isn't the 'Con trailer and he let whatshisname in on it. Trying to belittle him by calling him "Harold" is also an old hat cliche that gets you nowhere, Numbnuts. Yes, Harry is cooler than you. He knows people in the industry (celebrity and technical) that you'll never know and he's appeared in films that both appeal to and don't appeal to our innergeek. It's all right to be jealous, we won't blame you, tristeele my darling.

I love a commercial for a teaser for a trailer.

    by jimbojones123

I only wish we had more of a heads up for the commercial. I feel like we could also have used a leak on a heads up on the commercial for the teaser for the trailer. But if this site really had it's act together there would have been some buzz for the leak on the heads up on the commercial for the trailer. We'll take what we can get. But when the Apache Chief movie starts filming, I defenatly want to hear about rumblings for the buzz on the heads up for the commercial for the teaser for the trailer on that.

    by jimbojones123

Will he and Fury be old Army buddies? Will he be behind the funding of Von Doom industries, thus the cause of the existance of the Fantastic Four? Will he run into the "black suit" that won't actually make him more powerful than he was before, just give himself false confidence thus making him dorkier than he was to begin with? Robert Downey Jr as a superhero is just too damn cool. He could be cast as Plastic Man for all I care, I'd still pay to see it. But seriously, does ANYONE aside from total fucking comic geeks care about Iron Man? This will make a modest amount at the B.O. and will be seen by the public as the "lighter, kid-friendly" Batman Begins. After two weeks it will be forgotten. On the other end of summer, however, is the TRUE anticipated flick and inevitable king of the box office- The Dark Knight, which will wash away all memory of yet another needless studio superhero origin get rich quick scheme.

    by jdanielp

I've been one to piss and moan about this IRON-MAN flick. I just felt that RDJ was wrong for the Tony Stark character I remember, as a kid. But from what little I've seen (thanks to somebody's snuck in video camera at Comic Con and thanks to google-video), I'm becoming very excited about what I'm seeing. With the right dialog for Tony Stark and the way that RDJ looks to be playing the character, it seems he's doing top work. And that makes me very happy with Robert and everyone involved. Like many people here in the talkbacks, I can be very tough on what I see. But from what little I've seen, IRON-MAN is getting my blessing. If word on this flick remains possitive, I'll be taking my wife (with me) to see it in '08.

    by aquatarkusman

... to get people to recognize this character (sorry, but he has about 1/100th the recognition of Spiderman, even before the Raimi movies), then you're fighting an uphill battle. Having watched the trailer on the other thread, it looks like a 21st century remake of The Rocketeer.

"Before X-men 1 hit, no one outside of a basement knew who they were and no one sure as hell knew knew who Daredevil or Ghost Rider was". Um...doesn't that just negate your point? I'm pretty sure that all of those movies you mentioned were #1 at the box-office on their opening day. I think that proves that people knew who they were. And I could have sworn the X-men had some kinda cartoon show on in the 90's that lasted for years that no one ever watched. Stop being a 5.

The shitty thing about THE DARK KNIGHT...

    by spud mcspud

...is that the pseudo-intellectuals who worship at the balls of Chris Nolan (who, to be fair, is a damn good director) seem to be totally unaware of how stupid their love for BATMAN BEGINS actually is.

When BB came out, all you heard were reviews going on about how great it was to see some gritty realism in the Batman movies - more crime, less comic strip.

IT'S A FILM ABOUT A FUCKING VIGILANTE WHO DRESSES UP LIKE A FUCKING BAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Where the FUCK is the realism in THAT? It's inherently a very goofy concept! THAT'S why the best movie of all the Batman movies is BATMAN RETURNS: it took the mythos and used it to create villains that were at least as interesting as the protagonist. And at least Michael Keaton wasn't as fucking po-faced as Bale - come on, Bale, we know you can act, and act fucking well, but - YOU'RE BATMAN! HAVE SOME FUCKING GRATITUDE! HAVE SOME FUCKING FUN!!!!!

Why IRON MAN looks waaaaaaaaay better than THE DARK KNIGHT (fuckin' stupid title, by the way)is because the trailer seems to take the whole Lord-Of-War arms dealer-as-egotistical-scumbag thing, add the sardonic humour RDJ does so well, adds the origin story which makes him a bit less cocky, but also inspires the MK I armor - and does it all tongue in cheek! It's a kick-ass trailer that mixes modern political background with a fun personality (RDJ as billionaire asshole? Awesome!) and adds the whup-ass as soon as you hear the first four notes of Sabbath. The mere fact that Sabbath is even ON the trailer means they know when to wink at the audience in htis movie.

IRON MAN will be a kick-ass flick with a heart AND a brain. I even think it'll make you smile occasionally.

THE DARK KNIGHT will be a po-faced piece of navel-gazing portentous bullshit made by and starring a bunch of pseudo-intellectuals who don't seem to realise that this is ENTERTAINMENT! It's a FUCKING COMIC BOOK MOVIE! This is a man who has two identities, a sidekick who happens to be a young man (usually an orphan) who he has colluding with him in his vigilante endeavours AND NO-ONE THINKS HE MIGHT BE A PREDATORY AGGRESSIVE CLOSET HOMOSEXUAL!!!

And that's why you'll never see Robin in a Nolan Batman movie: he's not touching that with a fifty foot pole.

THE DARK KNIGHT should lighten the fuck up and get a life. IRON MAN is coming to kick the Dark Kinght's ass!!!!!!
