See King Chow Yun Fat! In ANNA AND THE KING
Hey Everybody, Harry here, this time with a shot of Chow Yun Fat in ANNA AND THE KING. This looks like one of them there Pappa Ratzi shots, so who knows how valid it really is, right? Anyways, if anyone can translate the caption on the pic, post it in TALK BACK alright? Cool. Personally, I'm dying to see Chow and Jody Foster on screen together... it's just tooo cool for school.

Translation alongside of the picture is: "Chow Yun Fat's emperor look
comes out for the first time, different from Yul Brynner of the past." Thanks to 'eugenius' from TALK BACK below!

I'M FIRST!!! Gee, I've never been first before. I feel....special. Well, I don't have much else other to say, other than CYF rocks my world. I have a friend who knows Chinese, but I have no idea what any of it means.

Ok here's the translation from what I could read:
"Chow Yun Fat's emperor look comes out for the first time,
different from *someguy* of the past."
not sure about the second half. no flames -
Is this a remake? If it is, y'all know how many expicitives i would throw on the screen voicing my opinion of remakes so ill leave it at that. PS--Harry, I know its hard to tell the difference between Paparazzi shots and legit shots, but i just wish there was a way to not endorse Paparazzi. I cant think of one, i admit, but i just hate the idea of me being at a site that posts Paparazzi shots. IMHO, Paparazzi are the scum of the earth. Only studio execs are of a lower life form.

This is a film idea I was hesitant at first to appreciate, but now that I've seen more of Chow Yun Fat's work and seen his range, I believe he'll match up to Jodie Foster quite well. It will be especially cool when The King pulls out a pair of flintlocks and starts shooting up the palace, Hard-Boiled style.

Enough with this merciless paparazzi bashing. My father was a paparazzi, his father was a paparazzi, and someday I too will be a paparazzi!

Fuck Chow Yung Fatass, I want Jodie! Jodie! Jodie!- Part 1
by vincent vega
Jodie Foster makes Chow Yung Fat look lie a freak of nature. If anyone thinks he's gonne take this movie to the 100 million dollar mark they're dumber than Joel Shoe-fucker. Let's be honest, is anyone really gonna care about him was they get a glance at Jodie? I doubt it very much. If this movie makes any money at all it'll be because of her. Chow can't act worth shit either!!!! Anyone see that movie with Mira Sorvino? It was so bad I can't even remember the title! AND how about the uberbad Currupter? He can't pick scripts, he's got what I like to call Alec Baldwin syndrome. Except Alec can act and Chow however, can not. At all. He finally picks a good script and he has to star with Jodie, BAD IDEA! He's gonna get upstages every freakin' step of the way! It will help his career sure, but it won't make him a Jackie Chan type figure. Sadly he will never be big, Jackie and Jet Li are all the chinese japanese americans can handle. He's finished before he started! GO back to were you came from! No offense to him personally, but I don't want anymore all action no substance stars who can't speak english. He's fat. He's ugly. He's not at all talented. He's got a bad haircut. And he's not cool. He is soooooo lame, man, people don't be fooled by this crap he offers, Jackie Chan is bad enought isn't he!!!!!!! Sammo Hung is bad enough! Aren't there enough bad american acters, do we need to import more? I think not. So forget Chow, this movie is about Jodie, she's a cool cat who takes risks with her career instead of doing the same movie over and over. That's what we need more of. Repeat: More Jodie Foster's less Chow Fatass's.

I don't know if you would call this a remake or not...to my knowledge the only King and I on film is the reent animation one and the musical...the CYF and (oh my god is she gorgous)Jodi Foster version will be a NON-MUSICAL version...hopes this helps L'Auteur...I don't know if you'd classify that as a remake or not

Giving credit to uyle for his/her post:
"Chow Yun Fat's emperor look comes out for the first time, different from Yule Brynner (sp)of the past."
-
the spelling is "Yul Brynner", courtesy of the IMDb

I suspect this film is going to be based on Margaret Landon's book, ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM. This was made into a 1946 movie starring Irene Dunne and Rex Harrison. The book was turned into a Broadway musical, THE KING AND I, which led to the 1956 film version with Yul Brynner reprising his stage role, which in turn became the god-awful animated version released earlier this year. I think this new film is going to come full circle, and be based upon the original (true story, by the way) book.

Chow has been in the best kickass movies of all time.No one can compete with HARDBOILED,THE KILLER,FULL CONTACT, A BETTER TOMORROW 2.Every one else is a load of crap next to him.Watch CITY ON FIRE and compare it to RESERVOIR DOGS ,and you'll realise what a joke tarantino is.

Should I go for the dubbed version of Hard Boiled, or the widescreen, subtitled version?
Decisions, decisions...... -
Avoid English dubbing of ANYTHING at ALL costs!! And why even ask about widescreen - it's the BEST way to watch a movie... :-)
-
For me the jury was still out on Chow Yun Fat unti I saw Corruptor. I saw Killer and Hard Boiled and still wasn't super-impressed. Replacement killers was hard to judge since his English was so bad. But in my opinion, The Corruptor rocked, because of CYF. He was so cool and psycho in that movie that I decided that once he masters English, he's gonna be the man. Who am I kidding? I think he's the man now. As far as Chan is concerned, I love his movies. As long as I can fast forward through any non-action scenes.
-
Maybe Chow isn't the most ripped guy but with all that attitude, so what? Travolta seems to be doing OK as an action star and Chow has a lot more sex appeal than Travolta. My husband feels he's the Chinese Harrison Ford.
-
In case anyone's interested, the gown that Yuen Fatt is wearing in the picture is not his costume; it's the gown he wears in between set-ups/during rehearsals on set. His actual wardrobe is way more regal and King-like. How do I know? I'm working on the film. Thank you.
