Voldemort and everybody's favorite Tomboy Beanpole to team up in THE DUCHESS!!!

Published at:  Sep 07, 2007 12:23:29 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Now it isn't every day we cover costume dramas on AICN, but I say why the hell not?!? Okay, so yeah... usually they're not my cup of tea either, but still... I was shocked at how much I found myself enjoying the Kiera Knightley PRIDE & PREJUDICE so maybe I'll like her in THE DUCHESS.

Ralph Fiennes has just signed on to co-star in the flick about Georgiana, an 18th Century Duchess. Apparently there are strong parallels between Georgiana and Princess Diana. Pathe and BBC are footing the bill, Jeffery Hatcher wrote the script and Saul Dibb is directing.

Ralph Fiennes is a TERRIBLE actor!

    by derlanghaarige

But he's good as Voldemort. I guess the CGI Make Up helps.

But has anyone ever seen "Strange Days"? They need to just make Neuromancer already...

I still think he should pronounce Ralph the normal way.

    What's with this RAFE stuff.

    I think there is something

    by cherryvalance

wrong with the fact that I knew you meant Keira. And Ralph is a great actor no matter how he pronounces his name.

    Strange Days

...is an amazing film, and a large part of the credit for that should go to Ralph Fiennes (the scene with Angela Bassett's thigh holster scene didn't hurt it either). He had an amazing year playing polar opposite characters with that and Schindler's List. Watch them back to back and you can scarcely believe it's the same actor.

Whew! I thought this was a biopic of Fergie.

    by beedub

Fergie needs to die, by the way. But I digress.

I was hoping for a remake...

    by kezilla

...of THE DUCHESS AND THE DIRTWATER FOX. I can definitely see Kiera as the new Goldie, but Fiennes as the new George Segal? Not so much.

    I thought Carrie Anne Moss

    by big jim

was "Everyone's Favourite Tomboy Beanpole". Or is she "The Original Tomboy Beanpole"?

big jim, you're so behind the times

    by occula

keira's been the beanpole ever since some reviewer called her that in 'bend it like beckham'. or was it 'pirates'? who cares, one of those movies where she ran around with her mouth open, lord love her. she was born to play period. 'atonement' is getting great reviews in the UK.
