Trailer for WALK HARD plays the nets like a string banjo!
Hey folks, Harry here... just a few days ago I posted a parody film trailer for some sports parody film that looked like a dying fetus on a cookie sheet... pretty much, the worst thing ever. It looked so bad it soured me on the entire genre... and then this comes along and makes me look forward to a good satire film with the remarkable talents of John C Reilly - who pretty much owns the universe with his awesome ass-kicking abilities. Here... give it a looksee...

I watched this trailer about two weeks ago. I fell out of my chair laughing when he's running around in his briefs, flipping the car and shouting, "I'M ZEUS! I'M ZEUS!!!"

Motel 6 jingle in my head. It is Motel 6, yes? And, it sure sounds like Dewey Cox is responsible for it.

And this movie looks terrible. Not quite as terrible as 'The Comebacks,' but still pretty terrible. Or does no one remember anymore that spoof movies have a shelf life of about two years? A waste of talent to all involved.

this flick looks like it could be great or completely bomb. i like the parody of the music-bio pics idea, it's not been done before. anything with jenna fischer is worht seeing.

I thought I wouldn't need to see it again after the free screening I went to - but this made me change my mind. Still laughing at the Beatles scene, and John C. Reilly's performance.

This movie is my cup a tea, but you gotta understand something. I'm an Superbad 40 year old Anchorman virgin driving on Talladega nights kinda guy. So I'm gonna walk hard to see this movie.

Now whether Harry knew this before he posted this article is up for debate but, for the time being, whatever. This cut is actually a lot funnier than the one that's been doing the rounds in theaters; I remember having a lukewarm reaction to the preview when it ran in front of 'Superbad,' but it actually looks like it could be pretty good here.

Man is she hot. For some reason. They aired about ten or fifteen minutes of footage from this at Comic-Con, and it looked pretty good. You sort of have to adjust your expectations and go in wanting a good spoof movie - not an Apatow Knocked Up kinda movie. It's a simple spoof movie, through and through. Jack White and Paul Rudd do look hilarious.

...or is Reilly doing a Will Ferrell impersonation in this role? I mean, the running round in skivvies, the drunkeness, the baffled cluelessness - it all screams every Ferrell movie done in the last five years. I suppose this is Reilly's big bid for comic leading man status, but frankly I'd rather have seen Ferrell in this part. He's a better singer than Ferrell, but not by much. This looks funny, but very obvious, like the old "Airplane!" and "Naked Gun" movies.

I think the scene where Reilly runs around and chucks the car is supposed to be a dig at 'Walk the Line,' where Johnny Cash tears the sink off the wall in his over-the-top manly rage. Although funnily enough, that was an actual sink that Joaquin Phoenix ripped off the wall, and apparently he just improv'ed the whole thing. Still, I guess the joke works.

Ferrell doesn't pass on much. He didn't pass on 'Blades of Glory,' though I'm still trying to figure out why.

Actually, music bio satires have been done a lot, you should check out 'This Is Spinal Tap' sometime, probably as close to a perfect music bio satire as you'll ever see. That being said, this looks like it has potential, looking forward to it. And yes, Jenna Fischer is an uberhottie. I want to sex her.

1. this trailer gave away too much and it just felt like a bad joke. i think the movie would be funny if you knew nothing about it. but i like all the talent involved. 2. wreck? what's your source there fred?

but that film looks completely lame. None of the jokes or slapstick in that clip made me laugh or even chuckle. I'll be avoiding this stinker, and mark my words, this WILL be a stinker!

...this looks absolutely, completely, totally and utterly awful.<BR><BR> John C. Reilly sucks beyond the telling of it. Somebody needs to tell him (and Ferrell for that matter) that assholes being assholes IS NOT FUNNY.<BR><BR> I'm truly astounded at how awful this looks - For a comedy trailer to be that unfunny is pretty much unheard of as far as I can remember?

This trailer is MUCH better than the first one I saw before "Superbad". I was really shocked at how horrible "Walk Hard" looked in that first one, but this new trailer has me more optimistic. All the pedigree in the world is in this film, and this new trailer (for some reason?) finally makes it look good.

I didn't see the first trailer but how that was worse than this one is beyond me. Remember bro' that just cause this is a better trailer, it don't make it good. I haven't seen SuperBad yet, but at least the trailer has got me interested. I have seen many movies with so called pedigree, the reality is that if you put too many known actors in a movie, it usually turns out shit. On occasion you get a gem, but it really is rare. This aint gonna be one of them!
