ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE.... UK Helpers Alert!

Published at:  Apr 07, 1999 3:55:51 AM CDT

Hey there ye folks from the UK... If you have this magazine and a scanner, please drop me a scan of DeNiro and Russo from this film... I'm dying to see that puddied chin!

Long time reader here, thanks for the great site. Not sure if I'm
repeating old news here, but here in the UK a magazine called Hello has
just published paparazzi shots of De Niro and Rene Russo dressed up as
Fearless Leader and Natasha from 'Rocky & Bullwinkle'. Sadly, I'm
without a scanner so I can't send them to you, but perhaps you could put
a call out to your UK readers to grab a copy and scan the photos
(assuming your interested)? De Niro is seen in a sharp black suit, what
appears to be a puttied chin (it looks long and sharp, just like
Fearless Leader's chin ought to look) and a long red scar down the side
of his face, while his hair is slicked back. It explains the strange cut
he was sporting at the Oscars, for it's shaved at the sides. Russo is in
a tight burgundy dress over a striped shirt and tie, with long hair
pulled back from her face. Hope this is of some use. You can call me
anything you like, including my name, Adam Ant!

    I hope this'll be good...

    by justin sane

...I'm a big Rocky & Bullwinkle fan and the flick "Boris And Natasha" left quite a lot to be desired. I have high hopes for this one simply because the script was apparently good enough for DeNiro to accept a role... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    These Pictures

    by chyren

We saw these pictures in Australia about a month ago in Woman's Day magazine (don't ask - my wife reads it). It had pictures of DeNiro as Fearless Leader, Russo as Natasha AND Jason Alexander as Boris. Cinescape Online published the pictures, so you should be able to find them there archived. (Sorry about mentioning your competitors). BTW Harry, if you're reading this, did you get the picture I sent you of Bowman's pod from Discovery sitting in Watto's junkyard? It was also clearly visible in some of the footage shown on the Lucas 60 Minutes segment.

    Lane Myers

    by anticonformist99

In the past I'll admit I've posted some things that could be construed as.....adversarial against Lane Myers. However, I would like to formally
withdraw all such comments. I recently had a nice long talk with Lane and
well.....he's not the bastard I thought he was. We may not see eye to eye on
anything, but I respect anyone who takes as much time as he has to turn an
enemy into a friend. While I wouldn't call myself his friend exactly, I do respect
him quite a bit after getting to know him. So I suppose I'm saying I apologize to
Lane Myers for insulting and ridiculing him on this site, using my personal beliefs
as the blunt object to do it. I'm sorry, Lane.

    please dont see this movie

    by l'auteur

please! I dont care if the script was "good enough for DeNiro to accept a role." Its not like DeNiro's never been in a bad movie. And he doesnt act much anymore anyway (did anyone else hear what Sean Penn said about Nic Cage? Penn is the fucking man now in my book!); he mostly relies on old proven mannerisms and nuances that were brand new in Taxi Driver and Raging Bull but are just same old DeNiro now. Regardless of whether this movie is terrible, OK, or not bad (it wont be good, i guarantee it) the point is, for every dollar that you guys spend on this movie, saying to yourself,"well im bored and i got nothing else to do so ill go see this even though it looks dumb", thats another dollar that Hollywood will spend on remaking another old movie or TV show. Im so fucking sick of it. When was the last time that the movie theater didnt have any remakes, updates, or TV shows in it? Lets see, now we have Mod Squad by MGM (surpise, its supposedly horrible, i wouldnt know for sure of course), My Favorite Martian (im not hearing any raves for that one either), and i dont know what else. Im sick of it! Where are the good stories that Jewison spoke of? Theyre out there! I know they are because some exist in my head! For every dollar that you spend on old ideas (bad old ideas at that), thats one dollar towards both more bad old ideas as well as supressing new good, albeit "marketably risky", ideas. For all those who love film but pay for TV show movies, how do you sleep at night? Have you no feeling of community service? In a capitalist society, where you spend your money wields even more power than who you vote for. The buck is the ultimate voter ballot. Please, everyone, use it more responsibly.

    CENTROPOLIS: No Damn Respect

    by ninsanity

    SITHLORD-
Thats really shitty, man. Its a damn shame that people can be that arrogant.
I seem to remember that little shitheel geek Dean Devlin (its his fault all the Emmerich films suck) knock StarWars right around the time the Special Editions came out in '97. I think he said something about SW having certain flaws that "he" would fix to make better to the public.

WHO THE FUCK DOES HE THINK HE IS? Dead Devlin's a fucking dork- one of those little fuckers that many of us loved stuffing into lockers during our High School years. Look at his films- Universal Soldier, Stargate, ID4 (could have actually been good- I knew they would fuck it up) and Godzilla (the only good thing about that was Jean "Kosmo Kleaner" Reno!). This is a man who mocked Star Wars, ladies and gentlemen. Now, Centropolis is mocking Kubrick? The master? Devlin and Emmerich couldn't make a 3 and a half hour film on Jesus Christ better than 5 minutes of The Shining or Full Metal Jacket.

damn...thats all I'm gonna yap about. I'm sure many of you feel the same way...

    Mixed feelings...

    by retina54

I'm pretty conflicted about this movie. On one hand, I belive it was this site that quoted Kevin Smith as saying it was one of the funniest scripts he's read, and I pretty much trust his judgement of what's funny (I don't care what anyone says...MALLRATS was funny as hell). On the other hand, we all know a funny script doesn't always translate into a great movie (MALLRATS again). And as for DeNiro's participation, it must be remembered that his primary motivation to appear in films these days is the funding of his Tribeca production company. He often picks big paydays over quality projects. While the end result may be all for the better (movies get made through Tribeca that may not otherwise have had a chance), it means that DeNiro roles in the 1990's are often supporting parts in unspecatular flicks.

    this movie could kick ass

    by 3rdman

Why do people keep complaining about this movie before we really know anything about it? Rocky and Bullwinkle is one of the greatest cartoons of all time and is capable of being a great movie. If it were poorly cast and we knew about some stupid changes from the original, i'd probably also be complaining. But the fact that deniro is in it is enough. i can't wait for this movie.

    Good TV Movies, L'Auteur

    by joe buck

I'll step up for 3rdman, L'Auteur. Though I mostly detest the concept of the TV movie there have been a few cool ones. The Brady Bunch was VERY funny and the sequel wasn't bad either, but I can't reconcile the image of Gary Cole as Mr. Brady and Sherrif Lucas Buck. The Addams Family was excellent. If you count Wayne's World as a TV movie its good as well, though I saw it recently and I have to admit it hasn't aged well. Definitely not as funny as when it came out. But the Scooby Doo ending is one of the all time funniest movie endings. Star Trek is also essentially a TV movie and there have been several good installments.
That's about all I can come up with, but the elusive "good TV movie" does exist.
