If you hate or love Zombie's HALLOWEEN - You'll Lose Your Mind For Adam Green's HATCHET - Free Tickets For Screening With Adam!
Hey folks, Harry here - Saw HALLOWEEN last night - I'm neither a raving lunatic in love with it like Massawyrm - nor am I a pissed off girlfriend that's bitching about how it wasn't like the first time. The film is at it's best when it doesn't resemble Carpenter's original, but in side by side comparison scenes - it bored me. Loved Tyler's physical portrayal of Myers - loved his intensity and ferocity, but also his calm and study. I like the musical choices, the twisted choices - but ultimately - I just didn't care for it being a remake. Had he just never put on the "Kirk mask" and this was called "DEVIL'S NIGHT" or "ALL HALLOW'S EVE" or anything but HALLOWEEN, I would have enjoyed it much more. But retracing the steps felt routine, safe as an audience member - and tired.
That said - before the movie, there was an amazing fucking trailer for HATCHET - that got the audience more alive than at any point during HALLOWEEN. It's Trailer 2 here: Click Here And as the trailer ended, I smiled... not just because I'm proud as punch to have my quote on that fucking trailer. Not just because I love that hopefully some of you are going to have a fucking blast when Anchor Bay unleashes HATCHET into the skulls of the audience. But because, I finally get to see the movie again - first time in a year - this Wednesday when AICN & FANTASTIC FEST welcomes Adam Green back to the Alamo Drafthouse South for a special screening of HATCHET!!!
