Danny Boyle's got a new flick called SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE!!!

Published at:  Aug 31, 2007 5:55:46 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Danny Boyle's got a new one and in keeping with Danny Boyle tradition it's a departure from his last flick.

It's called SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and it's about an illiterate street kid from Mumbai who wins the top prize on the Indian version of WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?

They've cast Dev Patel (from British TV show SKINS) as the kid and have a script from Simon Beaufoy (THE FULL MONTY). Boyle brings his regular DP, Anthony Dod Mantle, to lens this one as well. Warner Independent Pictures and Pathe are in talks to distribute domestically (former) and abroad (latter).

Sounds like a sweet movie, more in line with MILLIONS than, say, SUNSHINE. heh...

Over the course of a week, if it's the same story I'm thinking of. Nice revenge/plot twisty kind of tale. Sounds good

Jeff Noon's book VURT directed by Danny Boyle. It would be legendary. For those who haven't read the book, it's a cyberpunk/Gilliam-esque kind of story, kind of immature at times but it's truly unique, inspired stuff.

Danny Boyle is a genre-hopping genius

Even if the film has it's problems (the last third of Sunshine, say), Boyle's work is always fresh and surprising. I mean, from Scottish junkies to Brit zombies to heartwarming family film to sci-fi disaster film?

Trainspotting was great and 28 days later had it going on, but Sunshine was excrement, the deleted scenes made a tiny bit more sense but sweet jesus that film stank. Poor Noon.

dude fuck this guy, SUNSHINE made me want the time i wasted on viewing back like no movie i have seen in recent memory. dude is still coasting off TRAINSPOTTING. (and, yeah, 28 DAYS LATER can kiss my ass-- if it is what is still getting this dude work, i wish it never existed even more)
