Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I saw this trailer at Comic-Con and chatted a bit on this very site about the panel discussion afterwards... This one kinda came out of the blue and I gotta say... I like what I saw. The trailer's good, too. But it should be noted that the editing style of the trailer was not evident in any of the footage they showed, thank God. I can't tell you how sick I am of that SAW type editing shit.

...that looked awesome. I've been interested in this one since it as first announced, around the same time as Haneke's Funny Games remake and Mori's statements about writing a home invasion thriller of his own with Obi Swan. There's something about that genre that really creeps me out. Like, anybody could just be waiting outside your house right now, watching you from the shadows. I really like the cast they put together here. Liv Tyler's not why anyone went to see Lord of the Rings but I think she's a good actress who has yet to do something great. Besides The Trilogy and her Aerosmith videos, including that insanely hot one with Alicia Silverstone, she's been good in light commercial fare like That Thing You Do and Empire Records, she's got indie cred thanks to Heavy and Lonesome Jim (both underrated), she was one of the few bright spots in Jersey Girl and she did that movie Stealing Beauty where she got naked. Armageddon aside, that's a pretty good resume folks. So you've gotta be excited for her to do her first horror film. And Speedman's okay in my book because I was never stupid enough to see either of the Underworld movies or the XXX sequel. As far as I'm concerned, the guy will always be Ben from Felicity, where he probably peaked career-wise unless J.J throws him a Star Trek or Lost bone. But besides that, all I've got to go on are his performances in Dark Blue, during which he managed to hold his own while Kurt Russell chewed up scenery like he was auditioning for an inspirational hockey movie, and a little AIDS movie called the 24th Day in which he has a one-night stand with Cyclops. Oh, and he's got a cool looking indie coming out called Weirdsville. Call me crazy but I like Speedman's look. He's got this a typical leading man look going on but he doesn't have the look-at-me presence. I think he'll complement Liv nicely. Either way, this trailer definitely validated my excitement. What's with that release date though? Early 2008? Why not go all-in and come out between Halloween and Saw? This could become a modest word-of-mouth hit like Vacancy, which "strangely" enough, starred another Underworld veteran. Ok, that's enough sleeptime devoted to thinking about lame movies. I'm going to bed. Yay for Rogue! Keep your eyes out for my review of Cronenberg's latest, coming soon to a website near you... like very near... probably inches in front of your face. Don't miss it.

Beat for beat and line for line this trailer and log line appear to be identical to recent French thriller They (Ils). I know one home invasion thing is much like another but the similarities here seem uncanny. Is this per-chance a They remake for US audience?

True... I agree it is pointless... but the remake has Warners behind it and the original was a low budget indie... so it is almost guaranteed that exponentially more people will see it... on the upside maybe it will make more people see the original.

with the photo/slide-ish transition and sounds for trailers! Really, I mean it was cool the very first time we saw it used in TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE but after that, HILLS HAVE EYES, and just about every single FRACKIN' trailer for every single horror/torture movie since. Really, it's so lame. Think of something new, peoples.

couldn't wait for silly limited release plans....its really good. I liked it a lot. I can see why people are torn about it due to the ending which I won't spoil but I can understand it. For me the ending is what made it for me. It is just a really good low budget thriller. It doesn't fuck arouns and does its job. I know the idea of a home invasion is rather generic but this trailer here looks EXACTLY like it Them. not just that it looks like a similar idea...it looks fucking identical.
