Did You Like LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN?? Have You Heard About PUSH?? It Could Be Cool...
Merrick again...
Superbland Chris Evans, supercool Djimon Hounsou, supercreepy Dakota Fanning, and superhot Camilla Belle will star in PUSH, a new film from Paul McGuigan (LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN and WICKER PARK).
PUSH...
revolves around a group of young American ex-pats with telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities who hide from a U.S. government agency in Hong Kong. They must band together and use their different talents to try to escape the control of the division.
..says THIS ARTICLE in Hollywood Reporter.
Sounds like one of those "under the radar" titles that could be very intriguing if handled properly. Hong Kong is a great setting, and the concept evokes many cool SF/psy thrillers from the past.
We'll keep an eye on this one. If you know more, tell us!

Probably won't like this either ha!
-
Much better than the old Wesley Snipes rumor! Put THAT one to bed...please!
-
as an american?
Unbelievable. -
meets 'Firestarter'. In Hong Kong. Without the Dad-in-the-closet Brady Bunch angle. Or six kids - it's just a couple. Or one. So let's call it a re-imagining of 'Firestarter', but without fire.
Or this is something else completely. Who brought up 'Firestarter' in the first place? Jerk. -
Can't stand those "I'm so cool, I'm so smart" movies. And Chris Evans isn't bland. He was awesome in Sunshine.
-
.. the title. Apart from that it wasn't too bad. I saw in a packed cinema in London and I've never been part of such a responsive, happy audience. It was no masterpiece but it did the job. Oh, and the other thing that stank about is was Ben Kingsley insisting on being credited as Sir Ben Kingsley. Jerk.
-
just obvious !
This premise does sound good though. -
It wasn't a masterpiece or anything- and the twist that was meant to be clever was fucking obvious. But Bruce Willis was great in it.
-
I mean, really: Lucky number Slevin was the best they could do?
-
I loved that movie...Josh Hartnet did a great job, and so did the rest of the cast. Also, the music was amazing, yes, the music!
-
Jumper. except these kids have telekinesis instead of teleportation. either way they don't look too great but i bet they get a good cult following.
-
is at least nice to look at, and at least tries the occasional different type of role (ie - Sunshine). And has shown some signs of capable acting (FF needs to be ignored regarding his abilities).
And yes, I'm a guy...let the trashing begin, but don't start with anti-queer talk.
-
but assbangable none the less.
-
It so desperately wanted to be a film without Josh Hartnett in it, but just didn't quite pull it off.
-
For the Weinsteins? I love Gangster No. 1 and Lucky Number Slevin, so looking forwards to this.
-
In Australia this film was called The Wrong Man, not Lucky Number Sleven. Is that an improvment? Perhaps. Either way, I enjoyed the movie.
And I like Chris Evans too. Sunshine was great and he was the only watchable thing in that ff4 movie. Djimon Hounsou I don't care for as much. -
Was Mr. Goodcat's story at the beginning of the film just made the twist at the end obvious from the start.
-
So I'll take a look at this.
-
So since when is playing the same character over and over SUPERCOOL? The only coolness Djimon has was in Constantine and probably Biker BOYZ! Because any movie that has the balls to replace an S with a Z HAS TO BE supercool. And yeah Chris Evans may play the same cocky guy in every movie at least he is usually the best part about the movie. Except Sunshine where everything was the best part about that movie. Also Camilla Belle will be famous once 10,000 B.C. comes out, but probably in a Raquel Welch One Million Years B.C. way.
-
regardless of the non-twist.
-
I have a Josh Hartnett thing though, ill admit it. I also have a Chris Evans thing, so this movie is right up my alley.
-
Evans is a better actor than Hartnett or Hounsou and Slevin was overrated and undecided about whether it wanted to noir or"cute."
-
a lot more in retrospect once I stopped caring that I knew the twist going in. It's a better movie the second time.
-
...as did all those I watched with in the cinema, my usually overcritical friends and even the usually clueless critics here (overseas for over 2 years now) - It wasn't perfect, but was genuinely worth watching and enjoyable...
This sounds interesting enough and will probably still be better in the end than a good chunk of movies, mostly bad ones, that I end up watching, so this has my attention... -

DID YOU LIKE **SUPERBAD**? HAVE U HEARD ABOUT SUPERBAD?
by daddylonghead
HI THIS IS AN AINT-IT-COOL-NEWS BLACK BOX REVIEWER WITH MY EXCLUSIVE THOUGHTS ON THE FUCKING FILM "SUPERBAD."
BEFORE I BEGIN, I'D LIKE TO SPEND A FEW PARAGRAPHS GIVING YOU CONTEXT FOR MY REVIEW. THE PREVIEW FOR THIS MOVIE WAS CRIMINALLY UNDER-SHOWN IN THEATERS. ONLY "CHUCK AND LARRY" CAN COMPETE IN RECENT MEMORY FOR A TRAILER THAT WAS SHOWN TOO RARELY. SECONDLY... -
John Saul, or early Dean Koontz. They definately will need a different title. Sounds like a movie about birthin' babies...
-
I don't think you could say the "Chuck and Larry" preview was shown too rarely. Would have been nice if they hadn't shown it at all.
-
His film choices are. SUNSHINE is a pretty good indicator of his capabalities as an actor though.
-
You do know what sarcasm is don't you?
-
superbland. He isn't that great but he's not as bland as someone like Nora Zehetner. Is it just me or is she the most boring fuckin person you've ever seen on film or television. Wow, i got off topic quick
-
I keep meaning to watch Slevin too.
-
time as smoking aces. They crossed each other out in terms of the public indifference. They were structurally the same kind of movie. mult-chracter, multi-arc story telling. one guy falls foul of someone goes on the run then he discoveres that the fbi are after him but they are not the fbi and then fbi turn up he gets into the witness protection program and has to bring someone down. Bollicks!
-
whenever that motherfucker breaks the earth's atmosphere, shit gets FUCKED up!! stay on land, brother!!
-
Push was actually one of the first scripts I ever did coverage on when I interned in LA two summers ago. I actually thought it was pretty good. It's a little like a darker X-Men but with telekinetic powers. It's less action movie, more dark thriller. I remember the opening with a SWAT team was pretty awesome. And the cast they got is great although I'm not sold on Camilla Belle. Maybe I'll post a script review...
-
When I read Dakota Fanning in the cast ( the young Drew Barrymore of this generation ), I immediately thought of Firestarter, but didn't know the connection was that distinct.
-
maybe this one will be better.
-
Look at me, I'm clever.
-
PLEASE POST A SCRIPT REVIEW...!!!
-
..I'm so there. i'll see anything he does, but i couldn't give less of a fuck about that director.
-
That's because the British have a grotesque, never ending appetite for sub-par post Tarantino circle jerks.
-
You know how I know you're gay? You think Chris Evans is the best part of every movie he's in.
-
http://tinyurl.com/yph2w9
But I really liked Lucky Number Slevin. Too bad this one sounds like something I've already seen.
-
The girl at the counter is the girl in disguise!! Can't everyone see that?!?!? Everyone stop what you're doing and look to the left of the screen!! I haven't even seen the French movie and I know whats coming!!!
-
Okay but it sort of left a greasy feeling that you should have gone somewhere else to instead.
-
Damn that extra thick quesadilla!
-
After watching, rewatching and rewatching again with commentary "When a Stranger Calls" I ask - why does she have a career?
-
... and he'd make a great Yorick Brown for the Y: THE LAST MAN film if he lost some of his recent bulk. He was one of the only redeeming elements of both FANTASTIC FOUR films and he turned in one of the best performances in SUNSHINE (a film filled with great performances). Merrick, stick to posting YouTube clips.
-
Which movies featuring him have you been watching? He is incredibly likeable and has a good charm to him, plus he's funny when he has to be and serious when the situation calls for it. Good looking and all around good guy. I'd make out with him.
He was very good in Cellular, the only good thing about FF and he was great in Sunshine. Bland my ass. -
If it hadn't been for Ghostrider appearing in Fantastic Four, that movie would have sucked! Wait, what?
-
That means I go "OOOH CHRIS! OH YEAH KEEP ON GOING!! OOH LIGHT MY ASS HUMAN TORCH! JOHNNY! MY ASS IS ON FIARRRRRR!!" Yippie kee yay, mothafucker!
-
Seems pretty similar. Oh, and the casting alone has screwed this movie from the start!
-
Just askin'.
-
chris evans hasn't really left any greater impresson on me either way though for good or bad.
-
You shouldn't post a script review because if you read it two summers ago, you read it before the revision I had to read yesterday, by the writers of 2 Fast 2 Furious. Please don't generate any falsely positive buzz for this movie.
-
Never had anything against him when he was just the chiselled pretty boy, thought he was fuckin' awesome in Sunshine. The boy can act...
Getting a little tired of any male actor who is also known for their good looks being described as 'bland' on AICN.
And again, I'm also male. -
yeah, i figured there'd be a newer draft
too bad they got those guys
so you're saying it sucked? -
And they ain't gonna frak it up with this cast.
-
see it
-
Yes, I am saying it sucked. They took away everything that was good about the first draft and made it ocmpletely conventional. Is there nothing we can do?? Dakota must be pissed.
-
...played by Amy Poehler on SNL. I'm just counting the days til she holds up a convenience store to pay for her meth fix.
