Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I know a lot of you really dug DIE HARD 4. I'm glad you did. I wish I could have, too. I don't know what it is about Len Wiseman's movies... I've heard he's a really super nice guy and I'm sure he is and I'm sure he has a love for this kind of thing, a true love for it deep down. But his films always seem to go for the whiz-bang cool and stylistic fetish, ignoring character work.

Now he's confirmed to direct ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK.

IESB broke the story over 10 days ago and we reported on it ourselves then that Len Wiseman might be the go-to guy for the upcoming remake of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, as well as the upcoming GEARS OF WAR flick. Funnily enough, I have both scripts and haven't had a chance to read them yet. I'll have to give 'em a look over, especially since I know Merrick really dug the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake script.

There's going to be a big hill for me on that one. I love the original to death and have since childhood. I can say I really kind of like Gerard Butler with the eye-patch, but Wiseman gives me no confidence in the project. I really can't state how disappointed I was with DIE HARD 4 and the UNDERWORLD films are okay for what they are. I know they have their fans, too, but I'm not one of them.

Maybe this'll be the first time I really get into a Wiseman movie, but I am scared of them making it PG-13... they already have an uphill battle to fight remaking a cult classic like EFNY, but if they take away its balls... then what's left?
