UPDATED!! Abner Audubon Peacock IV would kick the condom off THE LOVE GURU's pud!

Published at:  Aug 14, 2007 4:43:03 PM CDT

Hey everyone, Merrick here...

We're being told by highly reliable sources that the guru artwork being linked to below is quite old (like, several years) and that both the artwork for the film...and the guru's overall appearance...will be quite different than what we're seeing here.

So, if you didn't like it too much, rest assured the actual "reveal" of art or character hasn't happened yet...

ORIGINAL ARTICLE BELOW!!!

Hey folks Harry here... You know... there are times that you are sent a link that reveals a new character in a film - where what you see, horrifies you to the deepest levels. Where you suddenly realize... for the next year, you'll be force-fed this creation - and you want no part of it. This is one of those times. One of those times where you'll recoil and think - it's over for the actor involved. OR - maybe it'll be funny as hell... I really don't know, but based upon the image I'm about to link to... I'm scared. I don't want to hear the voice that goes with that character... it looks like the worst parody of a bad Billy Crystal character ever. It... it's just look... and realize that by this time next year - it'll hopefully be over. But don't worry - comedy isn't dead... we've got Seth Rogan and his pals to thank for that.

Don't Click Here, For Your Own Sake!

In case you couldn't tell... that's Mike Myers as "the love guru" from next summer's "hit comedy" of the same name. Aren't you excited? I knew you would be.

but and this is a big he had carvey to back him up. with every movie he his now a little less funny then he was. He is in danger of falling into the Sellars trap. The party is one of the worst comedy films of all time. If there is one group you dont want to piss of its the hindis. This had better be funny. or myers will get himself a beating. Groups like the hindis tend to get riled easily. There was a play on birmingham about what i cant remember. The guy who owned the center where the play was on was run out of town. the play only had one performance, when the sikh extremists heard about it there was an ugly riot. he better be careful.

to have shows get cancelled after a couple of episodes. Rogen and Apatow have had two series axed. People blame the networks and whatnot. But are the writers really so good. because if they were the stuff wouldnt get cancelled. Mind you sportsnight was supposed to be the greatest things since sliced bread. I have never seen it. After banging out 4 emmy winning series of the west wing Sorkin's follow up was greeted with huge antcipation. I wasnt hugely impressed Studio Sixty and its not a good sign when its moved constantly. Its problem was summed by Author and tv critic and grumpette Katrhyn Fleet, who said it was about inner workings of network televsion and who the hell cares about that?

Chris Farley was a one joke worthless fat bastard who couldn't find the self control to not to kill himself with coke and food. While Myers does certainly dabble in the medium of crap, he is also responsible for some great comedy moments. What will Farley be remembered for? Farley did characters too. They were mostly the same one, pathetic fat guy for us to laugh at. Matt the guy in the van by the river, the remember when interviewing schmuck, or superfan Bill Swerski, any of those ring a bell? The only thing he has done even remotely funny was the Chippendale dancer skit. And that still boiled down to let's laugh at the fat jackass. Not to mention every movie he made was about the lovable fat loser. Myers on the other hand has Wayne, Dieter, Stuart Rankin, and Linda Richman. All different characters vs Farley's revolving around the same theme. Where did you hear Michaels broke the bank to keep Farley around? Farley and Myers both left in 1995.

    by therealratigan

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but Mike Myers is over. If it weren't for SHREK, he would have no pop culture relevance anymore. His own success paved the same well-worn road to self-indulgence that has killed so many a comic talent. When you add his classic "creative-type" personality defects to the fact that he has been doing nothing but cycling the same laps around his own ideas (and others) since WAYNE'S WORLD and you have the makings of a serious box-office intervention on its way.

why were there shows cancelled. If a company, say an aireline, axes a route, they do it for a reason. It may ruffle feathers and annoy alot of people, but there is a reason. Something may be popular or it aint. in the world Micheal O'leary if it doesnt work scrap it straight away. no question asked. aer lingus are taking this on board. Hence they scrapped the shannon -heathrow and transferring it the slot belfast airport. Aer lingus message is going to happen. you dont like it tough shit. sure it has pissed people off. people in the west of IReland are pissed. This like all things is commercial/political. But like freaks and geeks, if nobody is watching then it was axed.

he reason a lot of things get cancelled on TV is not ever just the writer's fault. A writer may be somewhat to blame but that is not always the case. If you look at the succuss of things like Anchorman, 40 Year Virgin and Knocked Up along with the positive reviews that both Pinapple Express and Superbad are getting, and you look and see that a lot of the same writers on Freaks and Geeks are responsible for those movies, then you have to look elsewhere. Such as, What time did the networks put the shows on, were they times that appealed to the intended auidence and who were they up against. As for Freaks and Geeks I belive it was a weekend show, like Sunday's maybe and was up against some heavy competetion from another network (ABC if I remember correctly), you also have to look at how it was marketed, I saw the previews and the marketing stratgy for F&G and it turned me off, if it hadn't been for the word of mouth from this site I would have never checked it out in the first place. These are not the faults of the writers but rather of NBC executives in charge of programming and marketing. At those stages, the writers/creators/even producers ahve little to do with it.

i agree with what you say and to back this up. The west wing was an import on irish tv as was NYPD Blue.

Rte Scheduling of both programs was contemptable. My late mother was a fighter and was so angry about RTE's decsision to kick west wing around the schedules that she wrote to them and she wasnt the only one. In fact things got so bad that the media picked up this story and ran with it. At one stage rte dropped the west wing from its schedules 3 episodes into season three to show some god awful home produced stodge. never at any stage did rte say when the west wing would be back on air and when it did put it back, it kicked off from midway season two. Nypd blue faired no better. Shown on rte 2, the schedulers started to play a game with the audience, it was called guess what nypd blue is on at? They killed off the show by shunting up to 2 am in the morning. My mother loved Nypd blue and I was constant VHS duty, to tape the show if my mother was out at theatre. my gnads were roasted if it didnt happen. I went to bed one night and forgot, and threw myslef into a blind panic.

You're an idiot. Cheers, Seinfeld, The Office... All those shows started out with low ratings then became HUGE. The success of the entire Apatow filmography since Anchorman proves that there is an audience for his brand of cool. Sure, Drillbit Taylor will fizzle out, but every time one of these films is a hit, someone somewhere should feel like an idiot for cancelling that show AND Undeclared.

But I'm willing to give him the benifit of the doubt right now. I think the man has always been very very funny. What's not so funny? Shrek 3, Cat in the Hat, about 30% of each Austin Powers movie, but I can't blame him for all that. Especially for Shrek and Cat which were just part of the factory that he had little control over. God bless him for picking up a nice paycheck. But the hilarious man from SNL is still in there somewhere. He'll find his way out again.

Has lost his funny or not, but I think he decided to go a different route then Myers and a)not go for the cheap laughs (i.e. veggies in place of nudity, various words and implements in lieu of nudity, Eddie Murphizing himself as 15,000 charaters in one movie) and b)focus on his family which I think is comendable. I think Carvey did what Hartman did and invested his money and when he works it's not for a paycheck but for something more. as for the Master of Disguise, it was Carvey's attempt at doing a family comedy and I think it's pretty funny. he also gave us the Dana Carvey Show which was a very funny sketch show that...ABC(?) didn't give a chance too

Carvey had heart problems, not cancer...

    by alonzo mosely

He had surgery and the doctor operated on the wrong half of his heart. Carvey sued, eventually won, and gave the money to charity. While this was going on he obviously lost the urge to be a huge star and decided to be a father instead. Amazing how your perspective changes when you deal with serious health issues.
He made Master of Disguise for his kids, he felt that stuff like Austin Powers was too adult for them and that kid comedies were too young. He wanted to make something that would appeal to an 11 year old boy and his desire for fart jokes but still at heart be wholesome.
I figured Carvey had lost the funny, but he was on Conan a few years back (John Ritter was on the same show just before he died) and when he started riffing with Conan you could see it is still there, a little rusty from underuse, but the funny is still there somewhere.
Also, rumor has it, that the reason Myers never worked with Carvey (I mean there couldn't have been a cameo in any of the Austin Powers?) is that on SNL, all the people who considered themselves impressionists challenged each other to do the best Lorne. Carvey decided to do a spin on it, and did Lorne as a Bond villain rather than a straight impression. Including a certain finger to mouth part. Myers, like everyone else laughed their ass off. Then stole it wholesale for Dr. Evil. I have no idea if that rumor is true, so don't shoot the messenger, that is just what I heard...

    The "Hindis"

    by abhimanyu

*sigh* HindUs, perhaps? As in people belonging to that particular religion? Indians? The citizens of a country? Or Hindi-speakers? As in, the language? I know it ain't American, but isn't this the 21st century with super tar on the information highway etc?
And Indians have been caricatured poorly in Hollywood for ages, one more or less doesn't really make a difference. I guess in another 60 years or so we may finally see character and plot-based depicitions of "foreigners" in American film, just the way that the depiction of African-Americans had to wait.
The largest film industry in the world, fuelled by everything-but-the-kitchen sink musicals dealing mainly in over-the-top theatrical (iconic) representation doesn't really need the validation of the Hollywood machine. It just makes the creators (and audiences) look bad.

There was a sketch on goodness gracious me

    by emeraldboy

between Sanjeev Baskhar and Guivhinder Guir. Which was one of the funniest things on british tv ever. Ghuir played the dad and Baskhar played his son. baskhar is reading Superman it was so funny the way the indianised superman hilarious. I am sure that clip is on you tube. go and check it out. Where is Goodness Gracious me. Well according to those in the know, Myra syal wanted more money and she started to get really bossy in the writing. she pulled the plug on the program and did behind the back of the other class and to this day has refused to talk about it. Kumars at no 42 was great when it was on BBC 2, but since its move to BBC one it lost something. It will be interesting to see if it takes in america. Syal's creation ummi, is one of the great characters. You really have to see it to believe it. and you dont realise that it is Syal that is great acting and very funny.
